Got a bit further with The Descent. I'm really enjoying it, but I wanted to share a glitch.

I noticed that Sera lost a load of health after a battle on a bridge and when I clicked on her she was down in some strange nether-world of weird lighting. I suppose she Leaping Shot herself there... I explored with her a bit and suddenly everyone else was there too!

 

 

 

 

 

It also appeared to have special glass walls that deflect staff blasts...

actually found mobs fights harder than boss fight. I used the exact same team and except for Dorian going down once (as he did thru all DLC), no one went down. And yeah, it sucks that the level cap wasn't raised. All this experience... wasted.

he's not behind the door. Did you get the cheese from that strange room with dwarven bed? That's offering for him. There's area of Forgotten Caverns (upper center-right part of the map) that you can access from Bastion of the Pure (from upper left part of the map). There's stone that says "only those who believe may pass". That means you're on the right path

 

The news about dropping support (both patches and DLC) for old gen appeared some time (I think it was around a month ago). I understand your discontent. I definitely wouldn't be happy if I heard those news while owning old gen version.

One of the reasons devs gave for this decision is that old gen couldn't handle what's to come. After playing The Descent... I never owned old gen so I don't know how it performs... but I think there might be an element of truth. As Excella said, there are moments where old gen could have problems. Especially in big battles.

Still... I'm sorry you'll not be able to play The Descent on your current console

Again I may get a PS 4 for XMAS but don't intend to get a PS 4 version of DAI because there won't be a point. My pre-order DLC won't work for the version and I would have to rebuy JOH and buy DES. Unless in time their may be a speical edition including all DLC"s then maybe. I'm just still happy on a whole playing DAI. I still enjoy posting what I got and socializing with you guys so I have no gripes.

 

Now about my XBOX360 red ringing on me again...Bloody 100% heat down here.

True....but....I am going for a PS 4 for XMAS because I feel like the PS 4's library and upcoming library is better than XBOXONE's library. It may sound nitpicking but my XBOX 360 keeps breaking down as well. Sure I may lose some ups and downs like backwards compatibility but I believe in system dependibility. I am afraid my X BOX ONE might break down as often as my 360 has. The only way I really can for sure get both is if I make a spit ton of money at work. Since I don't I can merely ask for one of the two for XMAS. Since I cater the PS 4 for a-lot of reasons I'm shooting for a PS 4 for XMAS..

Seriously I thin this DLC is BioWare at their best.  Though again it was a bit frustrating the difficulty curve...for me...but the story content was well worth the hassle.

Wow. That's a pretty big endorsement. Makes we want to get to it all the sooner!

Lalala.....still avoiding spoilers BUT I should be able to finish Descent tonight and then I can read this thread again.   From what I've skimmed over, it sounds like everyone has been enjoying the heck out of it, as have I once I got my system to co-operate. Will post some thoughts when I'm done, and save the screenshot uploading for the weekend. Yes, it might take all day.

It's possible.  I got caught in a rip tide as a kid, and the only stroke I knew was the dog paddle, and since the lifeguards hadn't spotted me, I swam back.  Go with the stuff you learn first.

 

I beat the Emissary with it, so yeah, I don't need Focus

Update on Stennis, Vashoth 2H Champion, Nightmare run.

Completed WEWH. This run had many firsts for me:

• First time I completed WEWH before Abyss
• First time I completed WEWH within the recommended experience levels - I'm usually way over leveled, which will happen if you clear out all of the Western Approach, all of the Exalted Plain, good sized chunks of the Oasis and Emerald Graves, and all of Fereldan, by the time you get around to WEWH. 
• First time taking Cole and "my elven servant" Solas - he didn't even bat an eyelash at that insult!
• First time finding *all* of the Halla
• First time realizing you have to revisit areas to complete the collections -- doh, what a dirty trick!
• First time reconciling Celene with Briala, Gaspard executed (1st PT was 3-way truce, 2nd PT was Gaspard as sole survivor)
• Last but not least, first completion on Nightmare

Auugggh, I can't decide! Who to take into the Fade for Abyss?

 

In previous PTs, I've taken Solas, Cass, Sera, Blackwall, Iron Bull and Solas.

 

I'm taking Cole for sure, since I've never brought him before. Cass for the demon battles, since this is Nightmare. That leaves one more slot to fill.

 

Solas would be my default choice, but I always bring him.

 

Dorian would be my next choice, but his skill set just isn't up to major demon battles. Even if I respec, his specialization skills just don't help that much in the Fade.

 

Vivienne might be interesting, and having Resurgence on hand wouldn't suck, but I dunno about banter.

 

Varric would be good, but having two archers seems kind of squishy. Besides, I haven't been able to afford to upgrade Bianca.

So, I've started a second run of the Descent, this time with my DW Assassin Natalia Trevelyan. Travelling with her into the Deep Roads are her best friend Divine Cassandra, Grand Enchanter Vivienne and Lord Dorian of House Pavus.

 

Here's a quick recap of what's happening with our heroine. Spoiler alert for anyone, who didn't play the DLC yet!

After her older twin sister's (Knight Enchanter Alessandra) experience, Natalia and her dream team went in as ready as they could be.

 

Natalia has her trusted Mark of Death to replace Aegis of the Rift; Cassandra wields a crafted version of Hakkon's longsword with a hidden blades masterwork and darkspawn/undead rune of doom; Vivienne now controls a lightning and winter wonderland storm with her Knight Enchanter abilities; and Dorian still has his pyro, electricity and necromancy magic tricks. He also has a rune on his fire staff to battle darkspawn/undead. Along with that are good armour, healing/regen potions, lifeward amulets, special grenades and the kitchen sink.

 

Anyway, they got off to a strong start after meeting up with Shaper Valta and battling a giant ogre alpha. During the fight, this arse biscuit loved to play quarterback and charge into the Inquisitor, but she easily got away while the Divine distracted him.

 

The funny thing that happened was when they got it to half of its health, Natalia blew the ugly turd off of a cliff using Mark of Death! He just suddenly went flying up and into the abyss! 

 

Moving forward to secure the main camp, the dream team along with another newcomer Renn, made quick work of the invading darkspawn and sealed the tunnel. They're soon going to venture down the second level. The enemies that await this group won't know what hit them!

If Cole is using daggers, then no it's not a bug. It's the Flank Attack that causes the infinite cloak duration. If you powered it up by putting a point in its evolution Skirmisher, every time Cole does it he'll be put in cloak assuming he does not do any attack that can break his cloak. The Stealth granted by the evolution does not include Stealth's evolution upgrade Lost in the Shadows, regardless if your ability Stealth is upgraded or not. Stealth granted by Flank Attack's Skirmisher is like its own power and it does not break unless you attack, and if you activate Stealth in this situation it basically overrides Flank Attack's Stealth.

So, where to begin with The Descent???? At the beginning, I guess. Note: text only; screenies will be coming later once I sort through them all. I must have a couple hundred at least, maybe more.

Well, we're back in the Deep Roads. Neralah (lvl 24 dwarf, SnS champion) brought her boyfriend Blackrain (or possibly Rainwall), fellow dwarf Varric, and best buddy Dorian. Through most the adventure, Dorian and Varric took turns reviving each other.  Dorian fared better once I 1) discovered a lone fade-touched silverite for "5 guard on hit" and crafted him some (extremely hideous) new armor, and 2) switched his elemental attacks to electricity and took control of him during fights. Varric still needed reviving a lot.

 

Team dwarfy got to the rendezvous with Shaper Valta and before they barely had time for introductions they were attacked by an ogre alpha.  Hello to you too, Deep Roads! So, the stage was set for tough fights right off the bat. And, I'm thinking, if this is the first thing they encounter, what the heck else is waiting for them down there??  Answer: Darkspawn. Lots and lots of darkspawn that, well, spawn all over the place. Surprising that some of them didn't re-spawn though, when going back through previously cleared areas. Sure, the spiders and deep-stalkers did, but not the darkspawn. I was kinda glad, but also kinda disappointed since random enemies spawn all over the place in the main game. And, thank you "no save zone" for crashing on me mid-battle. So, that was it for Day 1.

 

Day 2 picked up pre-fight with a lot of backtracking. Found a blocked room with a mug in it (did get all 10 of them by the end), explored areas opened up by operations, and finally made it back to the big fight area. Neralah managed to lunge-and-slash her way into the abyss a couple of times (got a screenie of one of them) and also fall through a Valeska's Watch-type hole in the path.  Oops. So, after the big battle they were able to set up camp # 2 and do a bit more exploring.

 

Day 3 started off bad. I had a feeling after talking with Renn and Valta that Renn wasn't going to make it out alive, but I thought it would happen at the end, not half way through the dungeon. I just stared at my screen watching the cutscenes saying "nononononono" the whole time.  Stupid DLC making me like characters only to kill them off.   Just as bad, now team dwarfy was down a warrior and going up against some tough s-o-b's. I wish there had been an opportunity to talk with the Sha-Brytol, but if they are powered by lyrium, they might not even be really alive. Or at least, not able to communicate. Still, they got some nice armor and weapons, and Nery made sure to get all the samples she could carry and then loaded up Blackrain with even more.

 

Day 4 started out a lot like Day 2. Lots of backtracking, exploring new areas opened up, searching in vain for the last few gears in the thaig ruins. I found enough to open all the doors but I ended up 3 short in the thaig. Found all the rest of them though. Also found the....er, Nug King?  Not sure what that was all about but Leliana would have definitely approved.

 

Finally, team dwarfy found the Wellspring, the source of the earthquakes and, apparently, the innards of a titan. They fought their way through more Sha-Brytol warriors (I hate bolters!) and found a ginormous lyrium node that turned into a rock wraith with brood-mother tentacle attacks so I guess it was more like a brood wraith? Rock mother? Anyhoo, big and nasty and blue, and it knocked out Dorian and Varric several times. Nery and Blackrain were fine pounding away at it until it died. But then, something weird happened to Valta. She got hit with the blue stuff and ... well, who knows what happened to her? Nery was there, she saw it, and she still doesn't know. Maybe Valta will be the new guardian?

 

I know I skipped a bunch of stuff but that's what screenies are for! Now I'm off to catch up on what I missed over the last few days in the thread.

I probably know as much as any of you, and i probably would've gotten it if weren't for my latop being a piece of crap, so yeah, it's not really new to me....  And i got a DLC with it (The Black Emporium, the DLC were my Quz's go to look even better then the time i made them)
