I got a new fan for my XBOX 360....AND..IT DOESN'T WORK!....><.....almost destroyed it to get it off.

 

My battery charger still works on my old one so I'll keep it just for that. I'm still going to be MIA from playing DAI since this 102% (degrees) is killing my system.

 

Update on Stennis, Vashoth 2H Champion, Nightmare run.

Completed WEWH. This run had many firsts for me:

• First time I completed WEWH before Abyss
• First time I completed WEWH within the recommended experience levels - I'm usually way over leveled, which will happen if you clear out all of the Western Approach, all of the Exalted Plain, good sized chunks of the Oasis and Emerald Graves, and all of Fereldan, by the time you get around to WEWH. 
• First time taking Cole and "my elven servant" Solas - he didn't even bat an eyelash at that insult!
• First time finding *all* of the Halla
• First time realizing you have to revisit areas to complete the collections -- doh, what a dirty trick!
• First time reconciling Celene with Briala, Gaspard executed (1st PT was 3-way truce, 2nd PT was Gaspard as sole survivor)
• Last but not least, first completion on Nightmare

After a very long day.

 

I was conteplating going for that for Ullia Mint Tooth but Usually being down or at a level on NIGHTMARE hasn't faired well. Like usually for the final battle of Haven (no matter what class or red templar/venetori) I always get pwned for dumb reasons and have to figure out ways to cheat the system. I keep finding nonsense in your favor like how you can still sucker guys to the chantry door and they'll permenantly wait there and not chase you to badly and I found out that the mountain near the final trebuchet is climbable so you can pick off guys effectivley there. I got a spit ton of side quests to do and may try to sack a dragon or two when I get get my 360 not to red ring on me.

 

Auugggh, I can't decide! Who to take into the Fade for Abyss?

 

In previous PTs, I've taken Solas, Cass, Sera, Blackwall, Iron Bull and Solas.

 

I'm taking Cole for sure, since I've never brought him before. Cass for the demon battles, since this is Nightmare. That leaves one more slot to fill.

 

Solas would be my default choice, but I always bring him.

 

Dorian would be my next choice, but his skill set just isn't up to major demon battles. Even if I respec, his specialization skills just don't help that much in the Fade.

 

Vivienne might be interesting, and having Resurgence on hand wouldn't suck, but I dunno about banter.

 

Varric would be good, but having two archers seems kind of squishy. Besides, I haven't been able to afford to upgrade Bianca.

 

I believe I took everyone.

Ooh....right...Varric....Lol...Will mark him off for Rubblocke since Rubblocke is a fellow dwarf. Ullia I inted to take Sera, Blackwall and Vivianne.

 

How cool and yes, he's using Daggers and has upgraded Flank Attack

 

 

Good set of attacks but I think I respecced out TWIN FANG(? the first icon) for something else later on because it glitches through enemies way to often. I don't know about the blood splatter one (icon 6) but the rest are good +upgrade. Evade (final icon) is ok with upgrade because with soldier enemies when they do SPAAAAAAAARGE!!! and you use evade at the last second they'll hit your decoy and take damage. I have killed a couple with this thing but I reccomend not getting the upgrade and get the abilities bottom left and bottom right of it. Especially bottom right because the DEATHBLOW/shoyuken knocks people on their kiesters for a good amount of time and is worth the upgrade for the lessened stam cost and longer KO. It's great VS Terrors/Greater/Lesser/Envy, shield foes, mages, and archers.

Spooky thing happened I have to share.

 

I have categorically proved that it is possible to revive yourself if need be, using nothing other than a universal upgrade for a companion.  I'm a rogue, not a mage.

 

Things weren't going well with this combat.  Always a second too late, a scrap of mana too short, and not enough stamina or the right skill loaded to save someone.  Down to Dorian, and he died too, but I had 10 seconds, and I hoped with Cass's whatever templar ability and however I built Cole (he's all in hand-me-downs this time) it would work.  I usually build in some kind of healing thing.  

 

I will probably never know what CCC of buffs saved Dorian (primarily because there's no way of knowing what advantages I thought might work actually did.)  What I can say is that in addition to damage and focus being awesome for saving your skin, CCCs do something as a buff too.  If you can figure out what I did, please let me know.  Here are my screens.

With this one.  I was awed by the visuals.

I wasn't sure if there was a pattern, because I was pausing in the middle of combat, but...wow.  Wings.  I'm not sure if there's a pattern in the aura.  It reminds me of a rhodium connector I've got in my findings case.

Going for it - if it wasn't available, it wouldn't be highlighted.

With this one, I got paranoid.  I was sure there was a spy around, and I was going to use fire if need be to flush it out.

 

By the way, have I mentioned how happy I am that this time, the bad guys get to fall of the cliffs too?

 

Here's one for the hand-is-quicker-than-the-eye category.  When I snapped the screen, I will swear on everything I hold sacred that Inq was visible and plotting her next move.  Can you see her?  I'm looking, and I can't.

 

Finally, after deciding that Dorian was really just hitching a free ride, I let him play hide-and-seek with me for a while.

 

No, it's just plain smoke and mirrors.  Offer a distraction.  If they didn't see it, or think it's something else, it's magic.  I can probably even teach my son to make a meal for himself if I have to.

So... I've been away from the thread for a few days, while people have been getting into Descent. I've kinda wanted to stay away to avoid spoilers, because, as someone -- not saying who -- has pointed out to me, I have no willpower. But I'm back, and I surprisingly haven't run out of likes yet... although I would have if I'd liked all the posts about Descent that I skipped over. Sorry people, I will get back to those once I've finished my own Descent.

I have begun the DLC, and I absolutely love it. I'm back in the deep roads for realz, for the first time since Orzammar in DA:O.... I mean, come on, Hawke's Deep Roads Expedition was okay, kinda cool, not bad, had some good moments, but it just does not compare. So... yeah. I'm into Descent. I've fought...

Two ogre alphas now, and let me just say SQUEEEE for ogres. Also genlocks. Genlocks are now officially the best thing ever (so far). I lost my genlock screenies because of a CTD and I have no I dea who the ogre has a hold of there... Renn? Blackwall?

I love the look of the DLC, the feel of it, the sounds, the sights, the ambience, the... well... everything. My progress has been considerably slowed due in part to the latest MP weekend event, which I've completed now, and also to the fact that I want to savor every single step that Dofni and the crew take through the deep roads.

Sidenote: It's good to be in Dofni's shoes again. I missed her. but why does her BF have to be such a downer...

Anyway I have explored a bit, and seen some amazing things, and I've run into a glitch, which has given me a moment's pause, so that I can come here and tell you all about it. Apparently it's a well-known-glitch, and so without further ado...

I have just finished killing my second ogre Alpha -- SQUEEEEE -- and a group of genlocks and archers. I am standing on the edge of a cliff, and I have just claimed a landmark for a place called Heidrun Thaig.

Uhh, anyway, Behind Dofni (in that screenie) there is a pile of bodies I'm supposed to investigate in order to advance the plot. You can't really see where it is on the mini-map in that screenie, but there is a red dot signifying an enemy still on the screen. I can't investigate the bodies until I kill this bad guy... only it spawned inside a wall or a floor or something, and I can't reach him. ... I don't want to reload, and I don't want to fast-travel to Skyhold and back -- for role-playing immersiveness reasons -- and so Rascoth has suggested trying an AoE damage skill/spell to see if that allows me to attack the thing. So I'm about to try that.

So that's where I'm at. I've missed everyone and it's wonderful to see folks having fun with the game(s). Also welcome to the newcomers.

Wish me luck on fixing this glitch.

EDIT: UPDATE... The glitch is fixed, or at least gotten past. Yay.

So... You can see where the enemy is hiding on the mini-map in this shot. Dorian is using his mage-spidey-sense Skill of Being Amazingly Good-Looking to stare right at the spot through the wall.

I'd gotten this screenshot before pausing the game to come here and write about my Descent adventure and catch up with everyone, so I also paused Bandicam right after this so that I wouldn't get several thousand screenies of the main menu while I wrote this post, because I've never don't that before... *ahem* ... and I forgot to turn it on again, so I didn't get any screenies of the actual fix working.

What I did was this: Dofni got as close to that red dot on the map as she could, right up against the wall, then she aimed an Earthshaking Strike at it. (Gilli, you'll appreciate that ) , and it was enough to scare that last, lonely, scared, little genlock -- did I mention I the genlock's new appearance? -- out of hiding. He attacked and we dispatched him.

Had that bug happen to me too (on a different level of The Descent tho) and tried using Immolate/Horror against it, but it didn't work.   The [censored enemy] wasn't just behind a wall, but also a little further down. *sighs* I didn't want to go back to Skyhold either, so I went back to the second level and searched for my missing Gears.

Made a new Fem Inquisitor today! Breaking my Mage obsession and actually going with a DW Rogue on Nightmare mode for the first time ever! Pleased with the way she came out.

She's like the dual wielding Grace Jones.  I'll cry if you are too young to get that reference.

Fereldan is full of surprises.  After Hillary reaffirmed her commitment to Alister, the team went on about their business at the Temple of Sacred Ashes and killed a bunch of weird cultists.  Killed a high dragon.  Ran through a gauntlet with riddles and puzzles.  It's a good thing Hillary is a book nerd and likes riddles and puzzles.  Took a pinch of ashes for Arl Eamon.  Eamon woke up none the worse for wear.  Then he dropped a mutha fraggin bombshell on poor Hills.  Alister is not just a bastard, but a Royal Bastard ™.  WHAT THE WHAT NOW?!?  This.. this is not good.  Then it was suggested the Alister was the best case for the crown since he has Therin blood.  Well now.. Hillary had some thinking to do..Further complicating things was Erlinda, Anora's handmaid who said that Rendon Howe and her father Loghain had gone off the deep end.  Erlinda suggested a rescue.  Quick thinking Hillary wondered if Alister and Anora ruling together would be the best case scenario for Ferelden. 

 

She broke up with Alister. He took it quite well.  Thinking on it, it made sense.  But it hurt nonetheless.  She was a bit miffed that Alister failed to mention this to her at all.  Realistically being a mage with no noble blood, she couldn't continue her relationship with Alister anyhoo.

 

We all know swooping is bad, but back at camp, after talking things over with all of her companions, Zevran decided to do some swooping of his own..  Apparently he was just waiting to be the rebound.  So maybe swooping isn't THAT bad.  The painted elf does have a lovely lilting accent.  Heh.

 

Team Hills decided to go rescue Anora.  Donning bad armor, they broke into the Howe estate.  They found Anora, but she was magically locked into a room.  Hillary had to find Howe and his mage.  He was down in the dungeons.  How apropos.  Lots of people were down in those dungeons in their smallclothes, including a Grey Warden named Riordan (as an aside, he kind of looks like Stroud.  Sounds like Stroud too, but with less of an accent). Hillary let all of those naked people out and then rescued Anora.  Didn't get very far.  Ran into Ser Cauthrien and a bunch of archers (and one mage).  AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THIS! Hillary decided to just kill everyone.  Secretly it gave her much joy to Mana Clash that jerk of a mage dead in one shot.  (I do love Mana Clash and am sad it went away). The rest of the archers were more problematic.  Alister went down like a newborn baby giraffe on wobbly legs.  Zeveran and Leliana  held strong though.  Leave it to Hillary  - revival to the rescue (Alister got knocked unconscious again.. der).

 

Anyhow, after that, the team (Alister) had a few scrapes and bruises (or a concussion.. you decide).

 

Hillary also went into the Alienage and killed off some Tevinter slavers fully sanctioned by Loghain and his dead crony Howe.  Sweet Zombie Jesus (or maybe Sweet Zombie Andraste?) these people are messed up.  WHO THINKS THIS IS OKAY?!

 

So much to do.. so little time.  Hope everyone has (or is having since some of y'all are half a world away) a Sunday Funday!

Lissa's been running around trying to wrap up quests and I did manage to take a good reverse selfie standing in a waterfall.  ROTF when I realized why Dorian will always have the particular mustache he has in every playthrough.  Nice Easter egg.  Reminds me of the barbershop quartets that used to do church suppers.

These guys look really creepy, not at all like DAO ogres.

Taking in the view post-battle, but you can see 1 red dot remaining. This is the guy still hiding in the walls that prevents interaction with the bodies. Finally got him, though.

Poor Ben, poor poor neglected Ben.  I decided I was not quite ready to put Kara on ice again.  So Ben is still stuck at the beginning of IYHSB...and I will get to home...eventually.  Probably.  (no gurantees in life ) But I want to get to it...but again I do love playing as Kara/ a rogue so much.  

 

Anyways back to the Descent.  I loaded up a save about half way through.

Took more video of the battle of Heidrun keep. This time did FAR better with it. The Emmisary Alpha took me about two mintes. Dorian with Dispel/ maybe haste, + Sera's Thousand Cuts + Kara's Mark of Death= Emmisary Tissue Paper. Still was quite gratifying watching that massive ealth bar just...dissolve.

 

So continued to explore briefly.  Went down, down, down, and pretty much did all the level 4 stuff.  so now I am on five.  And I did mroe thinking...but sadly I think I forgot it.

then yes, it's the same. Oh  I keep getting high level weapons, which have lower stats then the (crafted) weapons I'm already using.
