I continued making gifs yesterday. I think I need to make at least one gif (of course there will be more) of every companion and advisor. Just because they deserve it. I started with Cullen and this one I like the most.

Also! Question! I'm playing with the Keep right now and I just realised that I've never made a worldstate where Varric keeps the piece of red lyrium idol. Does he mention it? Or is it just another thing we must fill in our worldstate?

then yes, it's the same. Oh  I keep getting high level weapons, which have lower stats then the (crafted) weapons I'm already using.

I was hoping the second enemy would drop a key or something to get past the door at the end, but no such luck. The loot in the barrels was nice though.

He does mention it when you talk to him about red lyrium. Bianca also brings it up, I think.

The big "no saves allowed" battle. My game crashed mid-wave 3 (I think) the first time, so I closed it down and tried again the next day.

I didn't get a screenie of it but when the emissary alpha was down to about 1/3 health, Nery hit him with a shield bash that did like 14K points damage and almost finished him off. He was easy pickin's after that.

They survived, and set up another camp.

Whelp, I got my rig built last weekend! Was able to play The Descent with the new PC, on all the fancy-shmancy settings.


And here is the inside of the new rig, as it was being completed:


Haven't uploaded any of my shots yet, from my Descent play through, but I ran through it first with my Cadash (but of course ), and I took IB, Varric and Solas. I ran out of Elfroot, so after the Pure Bastion (I think that is what it is called ), I headed back to a "Change party" horn, and swapped out Solas for Viv - Dorian wasn't an option since I had not restocked him, after the last time he was in the party. Can you tell....I really didn't want to return to the surface, right before the end run. BAH! No lack of Elfroot was going to break my immersion!

Anyway, after Descent was finished, I ran Mace Cadash through the remainder of the game (just had end game stuff to do). Mace and Co. were so OPed, that they killed Cory's pet on the first level. Didn't even know that could happen!?! Got a little scared that it would cause a glitch or bug-out someway. Thankfully, it didn't. things proceeded as normal, and IB and her did a lil' nekkin' on the balcony.

Valta fought the Sha'Brytol inside the rock, and she finally killed him....


....but the loot ended up out of reach.


Since I was hoping for one of the two enemies to drop a key to this door....


I reloaded several times before I was able to kill both of them with no glitches.


But, alas, there was no key, so it was a huge waste of time.

Lissa's been running around trying to wrap up quests and I did manage to take a good reverse selfie standing in a waterfall.  ROTF when I realized why Dorian will always have the particular mustache he has in every playthrough.  Nice Easter egg.  Reminds me of the barbershop quartets that used to do church suppers.

I'm gonna guess Hinterlands, near the Templar HQ camp. I'd recognize that mabarii acicularis anywhere!

Regarding a few Descent things...

Does anyone else wish that those Cretahl's dropped some Tier 4 mats??

Have to admit, I thought for sure we would get some rad tier 4 materials, in these "Never explored before" deep earth venues. (i.e. mostly the Pure Bastion and the final zone....which I am blanking on it's name. )

Ah well, twas just a wish. *le sigh*

Update on Stennis, Vashoth 2H Champion, NM run. This is a no-crafting run. Stennis is still using Justice, which he's had since opening the Oasis while still in Haven. Hasn't found a better 2h weapon yet, well, one that he can afford anyway.

Completed Abyss, just. Took every resource at hand, every potion, every grenade, every bar of focus and peeps still died in the final boss battle. Entered at just a hair under level 14 -- got to add a skill point midway through Adamant.

It was a refreshingly difficult quest! I usually breeze through Abyss in half an hour or so. This took two hours plus. Rationing resources is actually what made it so difficult. I wanted to have at least 3 potions and 2 grenades on each character for the final boss battle, but that meant dying and reloading several times during the multiple waves of Pride demon + Despair demons + spiders + wraiths + etc., etc. immediately before the boss battle. That was a doosie! And then Stennis had to clear out the twin Pride demons for the Broken Window. Insult to injury.

I didn't get any good action shots, too busy trying not to die. But I did get this good one in the Fade of my custom Hawke, Loghain and Stennis.



I left Hawke behind because I (mistakenly, it would seem) wanted to see Loghain talk to Morrigan in Skyhold. But that only happens if Morrigan has Kieran, which she doesn't in this world state? Or does Loghain come back from Weisshaupt eventually?

Thank you ... I didn't like being away, even though it was my own decision, and not sharing in everyone's Descent adventures. It's good to be back with all of you again. None of my current party are really built to do anything but grind out fights. I remember from Dofni's earlier journey that fights were never over too quickly. Kinda makes me want to bring my giant DW assassin to the deep roads next.

My guess is Hinterlands too, but near the entrance to Valammar.

I missed 3 gears in the Thaig level

 

After getting back to the surface, Nery headed to the Black Emporium to buy some schematics. Then she went to the Frostback Basin to see what all the fuss was about. I think I'll leave her there for a while and get back to Tanith's game (after I re-install - hopefully - the mods I was using for her).

So I had just used up Sera's Focus power on an elite enemy during the previous battle... She has a bow that gives + 10% extra focus for each enemy  within 8 metres, plus some other focus boosting stuff.

We opened the last Gate of Segrummar and that massive horde of Deepstalkers flew out. A Pull of the abyss and a few AOE attacks later...

 

 

I don't think I've ever seen focus regenerate so fast!

Spotting traps, I'm good at, but deactivating, apparently, not so much.

 

 

Yeah, it's coming back to bite me.  Cole's recovering the fastest, not even needing a potion, and Lissa's getting worse.

 

 

And, the inevitable consequence of an elf trying to walk like a dwarf.  

 

 

Of course, what it might be is the game's way of telling her to quit being a wise guy and take her medicine like a man.

I didn't expect Anora's support to be so crucial that I would need the help of shady allies like Vaughan and the Crows to win the landsmeet.

Needlessly to say, I didn't get those. The result is full embarrassment and the Warden coming off as incompetent.

The first PT's memories are precious, but dear Maker does it suck. Too many mistakes.

I got my mods re-installed (just a few: the char icon and jammies - which look way brighter now - plus the amulet of power unfix) and what's the first thing I see upon loading up my latest Tanith save? The Descent is now available.   So, she went to the war table to get it set up, then headed to Undercroft for a major crafting spree. Tanith, Blackwall, Sera, and Bull all got new armor plus upgrades. Blackwall also got a new axe complete with master cleansing rune for taking out darkspawn faster (hopefully). Then she did a quick run-around Skyhold to talk to everyone (except Leliana*) and took her newly upgraded crew to the Storm Coast. I decided to take the long way there this time rather than quick-travel via the map or war table. Current game state is pre-Adamant, so Tanith doesn't yet know that Blackwall isn't really a Warden.

 

*Not sure why but I decided this game to never talk to Leliana. The only exceptions have been unavoidable cutscenes and turning in secrets at the ball. Somewhere along the way I realized this was not a good idea in a game where I recruited the templars, since it means I won't be able to activate any of the Calpernia story missions. Oh well....I don't really like her anyway.

I chose not to spare him because it's the only way to have Alistair rule alone, and the joint rule through marriage often feels like Anora has the most power.

It also doesn't help that Loghain's remorse isn't very convincing. Even so, those final moments are just heartbreaking.

Loghain: Daughters don't grow, Anora. They remain six years old, with pigtails and skinned knees."

I did the joint rule my first play through because my argument was that Alli would balance out her more...noble tendencies..with kindness and compassion...yet she would balance out his kindness and compassion with cold hearted neccessity required to rule a Kingdom like Ferelden.  Yet, after other playthroughs where she literally stabls you in the back...I am not sure I would ever do that again.

When you propose the joint rule to Anora before the landsmeet, she tells you she will only agree if Alistair stands back and lets her rule.

Kinda like she did with Caillan.

But who knows, maybe things don't necessarily end that way.
