That story features Rhys and Evangeline, right? I bought the novel today along with Masked Empire at my local bookstore.

Yes. :) Oh~ Rhys and Evangeline~  I love them too <3

I wished Cole had another Companion Quest where you meet those two and they have a happy reunion.

I have some questions before I download and start playing the DLCs.

1.  I'll be playing on my Solas romance playthrough first.  Should I start these DLCs before or after the ending for more romance content if it matters?
2.  Is there a specific order I should play them?
3.  Which companions should I bring for max and best content for each DLC?  I plan on bringing Solas if possible, so there are 2 slots open :P
4.  MODS.  Is there a link with instructions for how to make mods compatible with the latest patch?  I stopped playing ages ago and I know the mod technique changes every patch.
5.  What kind of cool armor do you get? ;)  Please post screenshots if you have 'em!

Thanks :D

I'm late to this but I just wanted to add... I took Cassie, Sera and Bull through Jaws of Hakkon with me the first time, and it was totally worth it for the banters :D but your approval ratings may fluctuate a bit (not much though) based on your decisions. Mine did.

While writing this I was listening to background music:
Revisions by Approaching Nirvana, wonderfully calm and with a touch of sadness. Perhaps a bit melancholic.

I'm shocked you were able to get Alister to marry Anora (unless you had super high charisma and researched the chat pool all of the way) because the only way it seems you can get Alister to usually marry Anora is to have either your Warden or champion (I usually pick Sten and he is ALWAYS down for killing Logain because he says "About time" with a smile on his face).

(BTW this is how they would show up in DAI if you play the mage storyline).

Spoiler

However after giving some thought in a way I kind of felt he made a good decision by retreating because they were fighting a no win fight at Ostagar and I kind of agreed with Logain Calen was being over confident about how the battle would play out. If Logain stayed for the battle, Anora would of been killed and Denerim would of been fully sacked since they would of had no military power to speak of. Off this subject I know someone started a thread talking about peoples thoughts of Logain. It's a good thread and I feel there is no right or wrong to what people say about him and why they have spared or killed him.

DAA was really good and was worth buying in disc form. Honestly I should get back to DAO to play my elf warden gal and go super bad because I want to kill off Liliana and kill of Morrigan in the WITCH HUNT DLC.

It's a good song. I think this was the very first version of the song ever made. I can never place band. I don't own THE GRADUITE to know. I own WATCHMEN. I keep thinking GREATFUL DEAD but I may be wrong.

I did not get Alistair to marry Anora.  She told him to ****** off after he killed Loghain and he stuck her in a tower.  I had tier 3 coercion.  I suppose if I went back before that save and tried to bump it to tier 4 it might work?  I am pretty sure in one PT I got Alistair to marry Anora, but that was many a moon ago and I don't remember what I did to get that done.  Maybe I was my own champion and didn't kill him but just exiled him.  I don't remember!  I do remember Alistair being very whiny about it if you don't kill him though.

I finished Awakenings today and had something happen that I never had happen before (I guess I must have used Oghren when taking on the Mother).  I took Justice down there and had to kill him.  He was not down with me letting he Architect live.  So I killed him.  #sorrynotsorry.  How does this affect DA2?!  I feel like a bit of a retcon has been done, since this is a possibility.  Now I feel like I gotta put in DA2 and play it again. Maybe this is how the people who did not recruit Leliana and let her die in Lothering feel.  Of course, in my mind just because you don't recruit her doesn't mean she doesn't escape the horde and make it out.  But still.  Justice is dead dead.  I looted his bony corpse for all of my good armor and everything.

-snip-

For Alistair to marry Anora he can't be the one to kill Loghain. Anyone else? Ok. But not Alistair.

As far as I know it doesn't affect DA2... well, maybe except for small dialogue change.

You can get Sigrun killed the same way.

Yeah but Sigrun's death doesn't directly compromise the premise of DA2. I guess in theory Justice could have pulled an archdemon and floated over to the next available body and set up camp there.  Anders was in the party.  But I don't like it.

Yeah. Justice death was not thought over. Same goes for Anders. He can be dead after Awakening.

"If left to defend the Keep without enough upgrades to it, he is found dead with an arrow through his neck with hundreds of darkspawn dead in a circle around him; none were touched with a blade, but all were felled by magic."

Still, it doesn't really bother me that much. What bothers me is like zero sense in timing. With Awakening and DA2 it seems Anders/Justice are in two places at once.

Also, The Descent has problems with some mods (just like JoH had). There's one particular cutscene that will cause CTD if you start it with mods.

Yep, had this happen on Sunday. Had to take out the mod patch, put back in the plain patch, edit the plain patch so the game thought it was the same version as the mod patch, get past the cutscene, then put everything back the way it was. Whew! Took me like 30 minutes to get through a 10 second cutscene.  <_<

My last Awakening game, I left both Anders and Justice at the Vigil so when Justice "dies" it's not a stretch for Anders to be there for him to jump into. But yeah, the timing thing with DA2 is really wonky. Trying to figure it out makes my head hurt. Suffice to say, Bioware is not so good with math.

You know, I just had a thought.....in DA2, Anders says the Wardens made him get rid of Ser Pounce-a-lot, but maybe it was really Justice?? I miss Ser Pounce-a-lot....other than Nate  he's the best thing in DAA. Master Wade is up there too. :P

I'm not sure if this is the result of the latest patch, the Descent DLC, the latest AMD driver I installed, or some combination of all 3, but check out the significant color difference in Tanith's Skyhold outfit. This is really amazing. I'm tempted to try loading up the purple one I had at the start of her game just to see if will really look purple now.

These were taken pre-update. You can see the color but it's really dull, and definitely NOT blue.

Decisions, decisions. Stennis needs advice from the Inner Circle on where to go next. Abyss is done, Pride is still ahead, so what to do in between?

  1. Make Contact in the Emerald Graves, or at least challenge Commander Duhaime to a duel
  2. Liberate Emprise du Lion, or at least clear the keep
  3. Stop Venatori action in the Hissing Wastes, or at least open the Canyon Market
  4. Finally, something on the Inquisition's "Get Back To Later" list, seal the Lake Rift and help Crestwood Village

Now if this were a crafting run, the decision would be easy. Open either Hissing Wastes or EdL and farm mats and schematics like crazy. But since this is a non-crafting run, I'm a little lost on what to do next. The Canyon Market has some good gear for sale, as does the keep in EdL, so either of those might make sense. On the other hand, the battle with Duhaime is fun, as is closing the rift in Crestwood and making it all sunshiney and new.

What to do?

I'm planning on creating a dwarf Inquisitor for once. I don't intend to spend too much time because I'm still angry I lost two weeks worth of play on my first Inquisitor. But I'll make him a warrior because I want that damn Legion of the Dead armor near the end. But I'll probably choose Champion for the specialty later, but that'll be during the holidays.

My first complete playthrough of the Jaws dlc I had Cassandra, Sera and Dorian. The best part was fighting those 4 despair demons on nightmare and not using any health potions. Excellent. I know I posted on this thread about that.

Legion of the Dead armor is nice. I made some for my dwarf, Neralah, to wear in the Descent DLC. I didn't even realize I had the schematic when I was playing the main game months ago.

I've left the keep to defend Amaranthine, but I've never not upgraded the keep! Fascinating!

I think it only shows that they really planned for Velanna to be the one to merge with Justice, since her ending is more mysterious.

"If left to defend the Keep, and the Warden chooses to save the city of Amaranthine, the surviving defenders watch in horror as a section of stone collapses upon her. When the rubble is later cleared, no body is found. Velanna is just gone."

But yeah, the timing thing with DA2 is really wonky. Trying to figure it out makes my head hurt. Suffice to say, Bioware is not so good with math.

Yeah... If you follow proper timeline:

DAO. From battle of Ostagar till Awakening it's around 18 months (one year Blight and 6 months till HoF or Orlesian Warden comes to Amaranthine)

DA2. From battle of Ostagar till meeting with Anders it's year and a few months (depending on how much you think Hawke spent traveling to Gwaren and then the time after meeting Varric but before meeting Anders).

So... I'm not adding time of Awakening, because even without it it doesn't make sense

I downloaded all the DLCs and now I'm trying to figure out/remember how to mod the game.

Modding works slightly different now, so I would suggest reading a tutorial. Just in case  ;)

I'm just going to have to suspend my disbelief or something in regard to the time line.  I guess since there was so much time between the games originally I never connected those dots.  But playing them now in a row, I see how it's all jacked up.  I decided to just pop in DA2 and start it fresh with Hawke as a mage.  Normally I don't play Hawke as a mage since I don't like Carver much as like Bethany lots.  But I've decided to be true to myself and play her as a mage.  RIP, Bethany, we hardly knew ye.
