My key bindings and graphics/other settings keep getting changed to default when I exit the game and then restart. Is this a known issue when having Trials turned on? I've never had it happen before, but it's happened twice today.

On PC? Used to happen to me all the time, but suddenly it stopped and I haven't had that problem since. It did teach me to save my preferences files, so I could restore all my settings just by copying two files.

I have E set for interact, so when I would walk up to a door and turn right instead of open it, I knew my options were reset. ;)

^This. I went all biotic and it was just like playing a mage.

I know this might be sacrilege, but you could skip ME1 and go straight to ME2. There's way more story in ME2 and combat is a bit more optional in ME2. Set it to Casual and you could pretty much run through the whole thing as if you were an archer or a mage. The gun is just a really really short staff ...

I did eventually go back and play ME1 and it was nice to actually play some of the key decisions instead of just setting up a world state with them, but overall, starting with ME2 isn't really missing that much. Unless you like fiddling with a million different inventory items without any proper sorting ... ;)

Spoiler

I'm fairly sure that there are some outcomes in ME3 that you can't get if you didn't play through ME1, because the story creator thing in ME2 isn't fine-grained enough, but 2 and 3 are definitely more streamlined if that's your thing.

It's probably also worth pointing out that you don't need to play through as if the games are online shooters (well apart from ME3 multiplayer obviously.) You can and should pause the game when you enter/whenever you want during combat in order to take stock of the lie of the land, see where enemies are, decide where you should go to find cover, aim placement of your powers accurately, and give orders to your squadmates. You don't need to rush through the game in real time.

I used to have this problem back in the Patch 6 days and then it stopped sometime after P7 and hasn't returned yet.

Okay, I think Cole's personal quest is officially broken on PS4. It crashes after the game loads into the Hinterlands after the failed binding. :'(

This never happened until the last patch.

I'm sorry to hear that it happens to you  :(

I read about this problem... somewhere... but can't remember if there was workaround...

Thanks. I managed to work around it by reloading an actual "save" and not the "autosave." That seemed to work. I don't know what the problem is exactly, but I guess I should take note to save before giving Cole the amulet.

Weird. The only thing I did different yesterday was have the Even Ground trial turned on for a while. First time I restarted, everything was back to default; second time only the key bindings and a couple of graphics options were. I saved copies of the profile files on my desktop just in case.

Confirmed. For example, there's no reference to Shiala in the world state builder for ME1, but playing through ME1 lets you make a decision that impacts ME2 (albeit slightly).

But I'd still skip ME1 for a first playthrough. Those little additions to ME2/ME3 don't make up for TOO ... MUCH ... MAKO ... DRIVING. There, I said it.

For Trespasser, I ran Maggie with Cass, Sera and Vivienne (Divine). At this point in the story, I suddenly realized that I had the four most powerful women in Southern Thedas kicking a$$ to save Thedas, again.
Spoiler

Empress Celene only ranks #5, since Maggie brokered a 3-way truce. Tied with Briala. ;)

Leliana: (knowing smile), Sera higher than the Nightingale? It is only because a spymaster is more effective in the shadows that I do not show your little Red Jenny who's really in charge.

I discovered more superhero like abilities in DAI. If Inky's a rift mage using stone fist, it reminds me of Green Lantern's glowing punch. For rogues, evade makes them fly like Superman as everyone noticed. But the new toggled upgrade makes them go BAMF! like Nightcrawler from X-Men.

Had to send Demetria back to the old temple in the Frostback Basin to loot the other treasures she missed before travelling to the Arbor Wilds. Along with that, another embarrassing moment for the boyfriend. While hunting down the infamous Nox Morta, Vivienne decided to give him dancing lessons in the middle of the swamp! "My dear, you have to be light on your feet especially in those heels. Josephine and Leliana had quite the time finding a size for you. Don't waste their efforts," the First Enchanter admonished.

"Step... twirl... shuffle... Yes, Ma'am..." Bull grumbled.

Friendly Fennec! Hah! That's a surprise! Most Fennecs I meet are suicidal madmans, who get in a way of my spell/sword/*other weapons*/arrow (pick one) whenever I fight  :P

Fennecs are my friends. Never allow them to be killed in my playthroughs if I can help it. But yeah sometimes they are a bit too curious for their own good. Especially with lunatic Dorian with his pyro habits running around. I keep telling him to scorch all the nugs he can find but don't touch the fennecs. They are sacred to the Dalish. I *try* to not kill them! Not my fault they're too close when I'm firing Explosive Shot. Or Chain Lightning. Or Mighty Blow... Or... Well, maybe I should ask some Theodosian scholars to find Fennec-repellant. For Fennecs' safety

If I were you I'd seriously consider giving it another go. I too gave up on ME1 after a short time, but when I tried again and forced myself to go a little further I really got into it. My advice would be to get through the opening mission on Eden Prime and to the Citadel, where the shooting tones down for a while. See if you still don't think you can play it then. Also maybe try playing as a biotic so you can throw those "mage" powers about a bit...

With great difficulty! :D

You're supposed to sneak up behind them by walking instead of running, and then run and catch them at the last minute, but it's still really hard to get right. I've found that if there's one by a wall where you can get above them, it can be easier because you can drop onto their heads.

I'd have to buy the game again for the PS3, since I had it for the Xbox and my Xbox stopped reading discs.  My Xbox is a jerk.  But hey, me rebuying games for alternate systems is what keeps America up and running.

Took Ameerah to the Frostbacks (still haven't won the original game with this PT, I'm just putting it off). Came across this.  Seems to be a painful, if not overly cruel way to go.

Rafe finished up the Descent.  I gotta say, this .. this makes me mad.  I looked all over for that last damn gear.  Gears can suck it.  Rafe's game is by far the most anally complete of all of my games and the fact that that last gear was not to be found really bothers me.  But I've already moved him onto Trespasser so that gear is not meant to be.

I didn't know about this. Is this a short cut to escape the Deep Roads after flooding it? I always take the long route, and setup markers on the map to guide my Inquisitor and her team.
