This is my only problem with Exalted Plains. I get headache if I stay there for too long. Damn buzzing. That's why I always find clearing it a pain. Literally.
If not for that... It would be zone with pretty specific atmosphere, one that I definitely would enjoy.

I don't know what ambient buzzing people keep mentioning? There is the sound of the water if you're close to the river, and the elfy defense thing in the Citadelle, which goes away once you deactivate it. What other noise do people keep hearing that I don't?

I searched for video of this. I found only this. I think it's the best heard around 9:02.

Weird....I don't recall hearing anything like that in my game, and I've been wandering the Plains for days. It sounds like the Citadelle defense thing, though.

I wonder if has to do with settings?

The Dalish part of the plains is OK, and the marshes in the north are fun, but the entire middle is awful.  Yes, I was talking about finding the warden's badge for the Blackwall romance quest, but I didn't know I was looking for it.  I was just doing Wardens of the Coast and Keeping the Darkspawn Down (I think they're called) and found the badge next to one of the warden sites, which made me think the skeleton might have been the old Blackwalls, which does look like it was arranged a bit.  Not a big deal, just interesting.  I was romancing Blackwall, but wasn't aware we had started any quests yet.

The annoying part of that day turned out to be closing the rift by the Small Grove camp, which spawned 4 times before it gave me an option to close it.  I wasn't aware that could happen.  Every other rift so far has only had the initial spawn and one other (if I don't dispel or destroy all the ruptures first.)  I'm not sure if doing that is unique to that rift, and it might have happened before, but I never noticed it.

On to stuff that doesn't leave me feeling defensive, I spotted Gumby's rocky twin in Crestwood, near the Wyrm hole.

That badge is one of the Warden artifacts for his regular quest. Which is weird if you are romancing him, because that means you end up finding two badges: one during the regular quest and one during Explanations.

I was in a mood so created an Elven Warrior for the first time in DA series. I am very pleased with how she turned out. I may change her hair color to black...idk yet. I mean I like it but in the first photo the lighting makes her look so intense with darker hair.

Aravas got quite a bit accomplished. She explored the Lost Temple of Dirthamen; finished clearing out undead in the Plains (all done there except bear hides for the Dalish); helped Cassandra track down Lord Seeker Crazy and put an end to him; and, lastly, saved Empress Celene from as assassin (who turned out to be her cousin), then made all 3 major players get over themselves and work together. The whole thing gave her a headache but she got to dance with Cullen at the end of the evening, so it was worth it.

Lucky! I'd love to have more than two waves of rift demons ...

It's a glitch. It can happen to any rift, but it doesn't happen very often. I think I only had it happen to me once in 4+ play throughs. If you get far enough away from the rift, like if a Despair Demon twirls away in the same direction more than twice, it will reset the rift.

After watching Tresspasser DLC's ending spoiler... I just have to make a SoLlvellan because tears are the best for afternoon tea.

Also, killed that Highland Ravager with my other character. I'm so rusty, the fight was 2 hours non stop on Casual on a team of KE/Inquisitor, Cassandra, BW and Solas

This weekend, I divided my time between DA and AC Syndicate.

DA wise, my elven lady Inquisitor Talisia, allied with the mages. It's the first in a long time I've played In Hushed Whispers and got lost running around nightmare Redcliffe castle. Solas and Dorian are happy while the others are like, "WTF?! Mages?! Really?! Is the Herald's head on right?!"

Story wise, Talisia doesn't know much about all the weird magic stuff, because she never paid attention to her keeper's teachings and does whatever she wants. She's a black sheep in clan Lavellan after all. But going with Solas and Dorian's suggestion, she decided the mages are the best choice to help seal the breach. Also, she gets to test her warrior might against Samson and his red templar army.

After all those DAI playthroughs I finally decided to properly recreate my canon Hawke (who I'm going to replay soon). Reasons? I'm done with her turning out differently every time I play world state with her and since I'm planning to replay my canon Inquisitor as well, I had to have her right. So I loaded old save and finally got sliders of Maude Hawke.

Spoiler

Besides that... I'm continuing my DA2 playthrough with rogue!Hawke. It's been a while since Bethany lived past prologue... I need to savour that

Oh yes, make a Solavellan.. but you will need Icecream in your fridge, trust me :/

2 hours? On casual? O_o how is that possible? XD
At what level and with what type of gear? It cannot possibly take that long O_o

I'd have given it to you.  I was playing an archer at range, so while the party was mostly closer, Inq was at the periphery.  It was a bit of a drag, but it did get closed.  The terrors were pretty far away, maybe that was what did it.  No despair demons for that one.

Today I'm doing Here Lies the Abyss, and am taking a breather before I retire for the night.  I had been having an easy time of combat up until now, but based on the health potion usage in the Fade, I don't think I'm ready for nightmare yet.  Maybe next time.  Hard was getting pretty easy, but now I am looking for another supply cache.  Oops.  I got overconfident with the fearlings or something.

I got tired of Aravas' pretty black pants turning brown after 2 minutes of running around Skyhold, so I dl'd the "no dirt buildup" mod. Also found a new mod that restores the amulets of power that were taken out with one of the patches. The new one is supposed to work with the latest patch (which broken the original mod). Also found one that changes halla statue use to 1 per door so you can open all the doors at the palace. Too bad I just finished WEWH. <_< But, there's always next game.

As for Aravas, she talked to everyone about what happened at the ball. Got a snowy wyvern heart for Vivienne, who actually apologized for misjudging her. Of course, she was back to being a B next chat but still....a moment to savor. :P Next on the to do list was head out to the Western Approach to meet up with Hawke and Stroud. Once they discovered what the Wardens were up to, with a little help from the friendly neighborhood Venatori, she realized they would need a staging area in the region. Griffon Wing Keep would work, so they took it back from the Vints. After running into sulphur pits that prevented further exploration, the team headed back to Skyhold, but not before making a quick stop at the Oasis to open a couple more doors (and kill a giant who had for some reason invaded the place).

Rather than head way out west again, Aravas decided to go meet this Fairbanks guy, to see what he might know about the Freemen. Plus, the lyrium smugglers Cullen's looking for are apparently working in the area. Turns out, the two are connected, so she's probably going to be in the Graves for a while.

Definitely possible. A few total party wipe outs and reloads will take time. She casts Fire Mines and those are deadly. It took me 3 tries the first time (on Nightmare with level 17 characters, though).

Also, Highland Ravager can regen guard and call on babies that are pretty tough for babies. When she's like below 25% health, she does both over and over and over again. Unless you have combined damage high enough to take down that last 25% health all at once, you can get stuck in that last part for a long time.

So I could see a party with no or few cold attacks, insufficient fire defense, and overall low damage output (no rogues) taking 2 hours, even on Casual.

Tonight I'll be wrapping up my first Nightmare playthrough, a Lavellan weapon & shield Champion. I'm playing with Even Ground and Grizzly End turned on, but all the other challenges turned off. I had Walk Softly turned on until I got to the Emerald Graves, but I was getting too many wipes for it to be fun anymore, so I turned it off. Even now, Sera and Varric still die all the time (Healing Mist is your friend!), but it's been fun overall. I like the idea of Walk Softly very much and I'll probably play with it on in the future, but at this point, I'm a little bored with my current inquisitor and I want the game to end. Sorry Solavellan fans, but I won't be joining you. My Inquisition Experience wouldn't have been complete unless I did it once, but now that I have done it once, I'm not in a hurry to do it again. There's always one person who prefers humans to elves, and that one person always seems to be me. Next up: male KE Trevelyan, Nightmare, and I'll try to leave Walk Softly turned on until the end.

This weekend, I divided my time between DA and AC Syndicate.

You.. you are a better person than me.  I did nothing but play AC Syndicate all weekend long.  I didn't leave the house.  I did cook dinner last night though.  Thank god I don't have kids.  They would have gone uncared for.  LOL!  I have an unabashed love for all things Victorian.  And I love Evie.  I find I will play with Jacob if I have to, but, otherwise as I explore, team Evie.

As for the buzzing on the EP, the buzzing that bugs me is like.. bugs.  It sounds like buzzing flies you hear around dead things?  But there are not so many dead things around just the sound of the buzzing in open plains.  Speaking of, I really feel like there should be more bodies lying around in burning pits or something.  Since it's a war zone.  I don't get the feeling that it is really a war zone because there is a lot of empty space.

Also, I'm glad I'm not the only person who misses force mage.  Crowd control was so much better in DA2.  There were a lot of things DA2 changed that a lot of people didn't like but I really enjoyed the force mage tree.  It never got old to hit people with Fist of the Maker!

Hard drive crash, squished origin and inquisition onto ssd drive.

Ignored glaring windows who doesn't like to share and squished the mods and mod manager onto the drive as well.

Loaded save and continued dalish mage playthrough.

I did not think I would be able to play Ellansanae and Solas romance because of the sadness. I nearly deleted her.

I have changed my mind though since Ell visited the loony rift worshippers.

Ell and companions obliged them by dealing with the rift. Once the demons were defeated Ell closed the rift and out of nowhere screamed "die".

That moment defined her personality for me. She will not be pining.

Ell visited Redcliffe, was really annoyed at the stupidity of the mages and is considering leaving them to their fate.

She also had a blast with the strange time circles near the rift and made sure to stand in the fast one.

The lesser terror did not know what hit it.

Now if she could only make her mark create these circles.

Yeah, I love Evie too. She's awesome and reminds me of Ezio from AC2. Jacob is growing on me; he's oddly charming and witty for a brawler guy. And Victorian London is gorgeous.

After finishing Dragon Age: Origins 3 times and finishing off the DLCs back in 2013, I finally managed to play and finish Dragon Age 2 twice and have over all liked my experience with the sequel, particularly with the Sarcastic/Humorous Female Hawke (second playthrough).  While it's not a perfect game by any means, it does a few things that I think are over all improvements over DA: O.  I'll post some screenshots when I get the chance.  Here be spoilers!

Spoiler

I dabbled a bit with DA: Inquisition Trial and it hasn't really gripped me yet.  Dunno why.  Maybe it has more to do with the timed trial discouraging me from actually playing the singleplayer campaign.  Eventually, I'll probably buy it as DA2 really feels like a start of something bigger.

Spoiler

Here is a screen capture of my first DA2 playthrough.  Baldur Hawke who is honorable and sided with the mages to stop Meredith's crazed paranoia.  Too bad the head of the circle had to go too.

My Nightmare playthrough is done. I never went to the Hissing Wastes or the Forbidden Oasis at all, nor did I do JoH or Descent, but as I said, I was really ready for the game to be over. Now that I have the achievement, I'll probably reload and do all the areas I missed as well as the two DLC before replaying Doom Upon the World, but I'm happier knowing that I can dial back the difficulty if I need to. I may not. Even with Even Ground enabled, the difference between Nightmare and Normal is a lot less than I expected it to be.

Doom Upon the World was weird. The first phase of the battle, where everybody was still on the ground, was hard, and I wasn't sure we'd get through it. Sera died twice and Solas died once, and we went through all 12 healing potions (thank the Maker for that potions cache at the top of the stairs!), but after reaching the top of the stairs, it got dead easy very suddenly. Sera didn't die again, and she only used one healing potion while fighting the dragon and nothing at all during the second Corypheus fight. I didn't switch control to anybody but the inquisitor during any phase of the fight, so everybody got through on their own AI. What happened? Was it a terrain thing? Did those two shades at the beginning that kept killing Sera make all that much of a difference? Or did they ratchet back the difficulty intentionally to alleviate player fatigue? I have to admit that muscling through the last 10 minutes of the game without thinking about it was a bit of a relief.

Congratulations! :D It's really a good feeling, isn't it? The early levels are the toughest; it definitely gets easier later on. I haven't done Descent on NM yet, but my first time through JoH was. Let's just say, it wasn't too bad until I got to Gurdy. The assassins and archers were real nasty though.

I may be alone in this but I think shades are some of the toughest demon opponents. They're fast and they usually spawn in hordes so it's really easy to get overwhelmed. I also think Cory uses his red laser beam of doom (eh, which kind of reminds me of the Reapers' laser beam of doom from ME ) more in the first half of the fight, so maybe they were getting hit with that? I try to make sure everyone has all resistances up at the start of the fight but sometimes it doesn't help much.

Yeah, I already know I'm not ready to take on Gurdy on Nightmare. Maybe someday, I'll be confident enough for that, but I'm not there yet. (Translation: I'm definitely going to try it, but more out of curiosity than because I'm a masochist.) Oddly enough, the laser beam of doom didn't wreck my team as much as those damned shades (you're totally right about them). Bull and Lavellan had full guard, max health, and decent resistances, so the death ray barely put a dent in them. A lot of people gear up for offense - which works great with some playing styles - but I'm far too lazy to rely on a strong offensive build. I do much better when I use armor with defensive slots. (ducks to avoid tomatoes) Hey, a person has to play to their strengths, right?
