Yesterday I went into the fade and this time decided to sacrifice Hawke. Then felt bad when I realized Varric's reaction afterwards. Also saw Morrigan's son for the first time! (yeah I forgot to customize the dragon age keep on my first playthrough).
What Did You Do Today (in the DA 'verse) ? .... oops ;)

Got my butt handed to me by the Vinsomer. My party was Blackwall (with Song of the Marshes), Bull, and Dorian. I was very glad for Blackwall's extreme tankiness, and some miracle kept Dorian alive (that, and armor with fade-touched obsidian.) Bull and Inq spent most of the fight lying down. Inq did stay alive long enough to launch a rift, but otherwise, it was just two guys plugging away, but hey, we lived. I did decide to put off doing the Exalted Plains high dragon for a while, though. Perhaps a few more levels. I can only think of how awful it would have been if rogue inq still had kitty's collar equipped. That was a short-lived experiment, in more ways than one.
What build does kitty's collar work for? It just doesn't seem to make sense to me. I haven't sold it yet, but I can't think of any companions it would work for.

Tonic of Electric Resistance and lots of Dispels and Spell Purges. That's the recipe for success against both of them. Exalted Plains (Gamoran Stormrider) is lower level than Vinsomer, 12 vs 16, so should be a piece of cake. ![]()
Kitty's Collar is for your party member who dies the most! It's all about winning by dying, seriously.
Kitty's Collar, aka Collar of Nine Lives, get it?

Changing your party would make it much easier, for Vinsomer or any other dragon. You don't need any fighters or mages. You need 2 rogues: a Tempest and an Assassin. Other party members won't have time to do anything before the fight's over.
Your Tempest should have Thousand Cuts, with fully charged focus at lvl 3. A fully upgraded Mighty Offense for the Tempest also helps (maybe not needed for lower than Nightmare + Trials - I'm not sure as I haven't tried it).
Start by flanking the dragon with both rogues in stealth. Use Tac Cam to hit the dragon with the following sequence (you'll be switching back & forth between Assassin and Tempest):
1. Mark of Death (Assassin)
2. Throwing Blades + Fistful of Daggers (Tempest) [This is purely for the sunder effect]
3. Hidden Blades + overkill (Assassin)
4. Might Offense (Tempest)
5. Thousand Cuts (Tempest)
You can experiment with both MoD upgrades, or by using Mighty Offense at different stages, but if you use this strategy, the dragon will be dead at the end of the thousand cuts sequence. It should take less than 30 seconds. It will never get the chance to fly around or use any of its special attacks, and there won't be time for any dragonlings to spawn.
It's so fast and easy that you may decide to use it only once, but it's worth knowing about if you need quick dragon kills.
Here's an example of how quick it can be - this is a Tempest solo:

Running around the Hinterlands, and complaining about elves. Some elven woman in Redcliffe didn't want to help the refugees at the Crossroads because humans keep calling elves 'knife-ear', and then I run into another elven woman in the Hinterlands, who calls ME 'flat-ear'. What the hell. Anyway, on our way to check out what's going on in Redcliffe with the mages, and then trying to resist helping them
Roleplaying a Templar is tough when you want to romance Dorian.
My Templar guy, Marcus, didn't have any problem.

Eh, those levels are incorrect. Vinsomer is level 19 and Stormrider is, I think, level 15. Assuming Even Ground is not active, that is.

This just sounds extremely boring.....why would you want a fight to be over so fast, especially a dragon fight with epic music playing the whole time? It's no longer a challenge or any fun at that point.
I wouldn't even want to do that with Cory because then you would miss all of his attempted trolling.

You see, I would find a long drawn out slog of a battle boring, particularly when I knew I could finish it in a few seconds. Whereas you clearly think my method boring. Amazingly enough, different people like doing things in different ways. But when someone asks about dragon fights on a forum, I don't think it's unreasonable to offer them an alternative way of doing it, just in case they (unlike you) might like it.

I don't like slog battles either, but after playing NM, I found casual mode extremely boring because it was too easy. Dragon fights, IMO, shouldn't be easy, but they should be fun. If they're over before I know it*, that's not fun. IMO.
*an exception to this: Gurd in JoH. After getting my a$$ kicked so many times on NM, killing him in about 5 seconds with TC on casual was pretty fun. ![]()

But I did think about what I'm gonna do.
I'm gonna continue on with Artemis Lavellen (Cass romance) until I get to Skyhold, to which I'd then create my Dorian romance, Archer Lavellen, who's not gonna be as cunning nor as smart as Artemis is (Artemis is sort of like Artemis Fowl, just take out the part where he steals things from people, and he doesn't hate humans. Or at least to the point where he starts a inner racial war between humans and elves. He is, however cold and calculating, and somewhat of a genius among the Dalish, he is an atheistic. Believing in no gods, he's sure that all gods are real somehow. He's very right about that.) He also doesn't care about wealth. But he does want to lead, being Inquistor helps with that. He's also a natural leader, despite being blunt and a bit unforgiving, he cares about people, despite him not otherwise.
Archer is not all like Artemis (who's his older brother), he's cheeky, confident and believes in the Maker. He isn't as smart as Artemis, but he's cool headed and diplomatic, unlike Artemis who is often bluntly honest and is somewhat anti social. He's friendly, and bubbly and supports Mage rights (I mean, Artemis is Mage that sided with the Templars). He's a rogue archer, and is snarky. He is gay, and unlike Artemis, he never wanted any responsibility, he only wanted to be a hunter shooting arrows at prey to feed himself and his tribe. He always wants to stay with the Dalish, as it's a simple life and it suits him. Unlike Artemis, who wished a life far more complicated and interesting, Archer was never interested what anyone thought of him, besides his clan and his older siblings, the first and the second of the clan. (Artemis is the oldest, Aurora is the second, while Archer is the youngest). All A names! His older brother and sister have a strong bond, one that made the cold, calucating Artemis much more bearable when he wasn't dating some poor soul in the Dalish camp. Archer embraced life without a single thought planned, and he is somewhat arrogant at times.
Artemis's choices
* Allied with Templars (Done!)
* Allow Dorian to stay (Not yet)
* Go talk to companions. (Not yet at Skyhold)
* Do Seras personal quest. Let Sera kill the noble
* Be as cheeky as possibly towards all companions (which means Humourous).
* Either go leave Celene alone or get Celene and Briala together. I can't decide
* Do not support Cassandra for divine.
* Do not allow Cassandra to be divine
* Also Vivienne sucks too. Allow Leliana to be Divine.
* Ally with Grey Wardens
*Kill Hawke, leave Warden Alistair be
*Destory the elven Sentients, take well of sorrows for self.
*Defeat Coryphues by saying "I don't believe in any gods!"

Thanks for the input on the dragons. I thought the Vinsomer was lower level than the Exalted Plains one. Oops. Guess who doesn't have an excuse and has to go back now? I wonder what kind of mats I have for crafting....
Still not getting that winning by dying thing. I understand the concept but usually for me, it's dying by dying, so I'll give it a pass. I'm not really into reavers for that reason, I just don't get it.

While wandering around various zones trying to trigger the chess game between Bull and Solas (finally got some of it but then they started talking about other stuff instead.....arrrgggh!) I discovered that "Treasure" isn't the last of the Parson's Notebook quest line.
I happened upon another box that points to clue #3, but I can't figure out/find what it is referring to.
After getting tired of running around, Aravas helped Varric discover why red lyrium is everywhere, helped Cole become more spirit-like, convinced Leliana that stabbity-stab isn't always the way to go, and played Wicked Grace with the gang. She let Varric tell the Chateau Haine story for once, then giggled at Cullen losing his shirt (among other things). She wouldn't mind playing cards with him more often.

Question, question - who can replace Stroud and why not the Hero of Ferelden? It would totally make sense, three heroes together, so epic!

I finally managed to rescue Sutherland and Company and resolve Still Waters. I injured my back doing yard work on Saturday, so I got to spend all day Sunday playing. I "celebratied" by popping aspirin and doing Here Lies the Abyss, Lost Souls (and the rest of the Fallow Mire), killing the Fereldan Frostback, the Northern Hunter, Vinsomer, and the Abyssal High Dragon, doing Red Templars on the Storm Coast, and clearing the Western Approach. After mopping up odds and ends with Promises of Destruction, Of Somewhat Fallen Fortune, Well Sh(expletive), and finishing Memories of the Grey, I'm off to do Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts. Didn't finish it, though. There's only so much I can do in eight hours.

I blame myself for starting it. Technically, my reply was a bit off topic. It wasn't about anything I did in DA that day. For the record -- Magdelena11 didn't ask about dragon fights, unless Kitty's Collar somehow relates to dragon fights? And also for the record, I agree with Melbella to the 1000th degree. I like them long and hard! You see, I would find a long drawn out slog of a battle boring, particularly when I knew I could finish it in a few seconds. Whereas you clearly think my method boring. With early access to the SWTOR expansion, I halted after finishing off Cory. Now after a couple of weeks, I'm picking DAI up again. The SWTOR expansion lives up to the promise of story and cutscenes. It is an intriguing story but alas too short, imo, they released 9 chapters. I also have to say they've managed to dust the incongruous aspects of non-forcers walking all over force users, under the carpet in this story. The rest of the chapters will come in next year. As it is, I've updated all my toons except the smuggler and now, there is actually little to do in swtor.
Bioware managed to shaft end game crafting, it's almost useless now. Additionally, the expansion (they updated the graphics) did weird things to the game; my nividia card doesn't like the changes and the game keeps dumping itself down to desktop at the wrong moments.
Anyway, back in DAI, the Inq went on the search for the first Inquisitor. I do it slow, in no hurry, taking my time to wander the crazy terrain.
I get the occasional giggles during fights against mobs, especially spiders. Why? Because the whirlwind always flings one or two into the air and they bounce all over the place. Too, if they're not a heavy, the whirlwind is like a glue, nailing them together and unable to do anything except die. I've yet to get an instance where they would fly off the cliff. I know if Cass and the Inq happen to do the grapple and kick on the same target at the same time and the right angle, the mob will fly away into the air. I've a couple that fly off and over the ramparts or ridge. ![]()
Had it out with a giant fade spider just now. When it scuttled away with that glow light about it, I knew it was Dorian's spell and that it would die. So the rest of us finished off the rest of the spiders. Done. But then, we're still in combat. Why? I looked around. Where's Dorian??? I turned around and there he was, creeping down the trail at the other end of the cliff.....with the spider on his tail. It had apparently chased him up one end of the trail to the other end or he was chasing and it turned the tables on him. ![]()

Had a war table mission and I was surprised to hear Cullen asking if he should be bowing to Leliana. So, I guess she will be Devine.
Frostback Basin is lush. I like thrashing about among the branches and leaves. Nothing like doing a bit of gardening.
Did I mention I don't like caves and dungeons? And getting stuck in combat because some spiders chose to throw green fits over the four trotters in the distance.

So I took an Inquisition break and played and won Assassin's Creed Syndicate (and I found all the things without cheating too. Because I'm awesome). Really liked that game. But last night I made a new Inquisitor. His name is Adam. I'm trying to do the take it easy trial with him to get to Skyhold at level 5. More difficult than it looks! You get to level 2 before you fight the pride demon. Ugh. Anyhoo.. I took some screenshots of said new Inquisitor's journey so far!

Of course he's a mage. LOL!
I didn't realize wraiths were so.. wraithy

Anyhow. Pride demon is dead. Now to avoid killing people. Must.. acquire.. influence.

Two days ago I started DA2 with my imported Warden, meet Francesca "Sassy Mouth" Hawke

I'm nearly done with Act 1 and then it's off to the Deep Roads. ![]()
