I finally made some progress with Thomas Trevelyan's playthrough. He's my first warrior and I'm really enjoying just running into the middle of the action and bashing everything with an axe  :D (my last two were rogues).

We drained the dam in Crestwood and closed the rift, then met up with Hawke and Stroud. The  highlight though was the Northern Hunter. I'm normally prepared up to the eyeballs for dragon fights - resistant tonics and lovingly crafted weapons etc. This time we just charged in as we were - Dorian even had an electricity staff, which was basically like hitting the dragon with a twig - he was there to look good and provide barrier . Look at Bull though! It's the first time I've made him S&S. The short version is that we didn't completely wipe (thanks, Bull), it was a complete mess and how-not-to, but funny and enjoyable.

Back at Skyhold, Thomas met Bull for a few drinks , then went to visit Solas, who asked Thomas to help him rescue his friend. He's not as trusting of Solas as my other Inquisitors have been, but Solas's concern seems genuine to him and he's willing to help. He's also first with pertinent and important questions ->

Next up was The Western Approach to find out what was going down with the Grey Wardens. We saw Erimond's epic moustache, but our own facial hair game was strong. Very strong.

Since Black Friday is nearing, I saw that Sony will have a discount for PS4. Price drop from $349 to $299 that comes with a game. I most likely will get that and order the game of the year edition of Inquisition. So I might be able to play the descent and trespasser dlc's at the end of November or at least the first week of December.

You guys! My in-laws are coming to town so I have to spend my evenings cleaning my condo instead of gaming.  Ugh.  So last night, I decided to be an adult and fold all my clothes and put them away instead of being the lazy slug who just leaves them in the clothes basket to collect wrinkles.  My husband is all "you don't need to clean the house" about things but there is "this is how we live - a level of dirty we are comfortable living with" and "guest clean".  The house needs to be guest clean.  I'd also take the house to guest clean for my parents as well.  They can't realize that their fully adult children are one step above animals.

I feel your pain. There is clean, and then there is "I just have to unlock this last achievement!" clean. :)

Spent a couple hours last night clearing up odds and ends. I needed just one more song to finish the collection, but actually had two more to find. Also was missing Chapter 3 of Hard in Hightown (I finally read all of them, except for the Trespasser ones I don't have yet) and after finding it at Caer Bronach I accidentally clicked on the spy who mentioned the other spy getting caught. I had missed that when I was there before, so I had to go back to Skyhold to do the war table op. Then while scrolling through my inventory, I remembered there was more regenerated rift goo (ie veil quartz) to collect in the Frostback Basin so back I went.

I'm sure there are more codex entries I'm missing (besides the unavailable ones) and I didn't 100% research all creatures, but I did pretty much everything else. Except "Reparations for Redcliffe" operation. :P

Tonight I started Trespasser. So far have just made the initial rounds to talk to everyone. Rainier's a free man trying to make amends; Cole is a spirit who hooked up Krem and Maryden; Sera asked Aravas to join the Red Jennies (heck yeah); Varric gave her a key to the harbor, plus a title, and established stronger ties with the Dalish in Wycome; and Cully Wully asked her to marry him (double heck yeah, complete with Dalish vows and a best canine as witness).

Now, rather than starting the Council to get yelled at by notTeagan, Aravas is wandering the plaza chasing those bleeping harlequins. Not sure which is more frustrating, actually.

The armor swap worked post-wedding. Until I reloaded a save and it went back to the regular outfit. <_<

I didn't actually get to complete the song achievement until the 8th PT, I think. I don't know why, maybe I didn't run into the tavern often enough after every major event or maybe I missed out something.

Speaking of tavern, I wish there is an option to sit on the chair when talking to IB and others, the music and soft noises are an accompaniment in the background that makes it warm and lively....I want to sit on that chair! :P

Spoiler

I went to admire the bedroom after buying beds. :P  This time I chose the more elaborate Free Marches bed though the Orlais bed is more ostentatious. Love the place, I'm wondering how cold it might be standing at the terrace. If it was at all. The doors are left wide open. brrrr? I'm half tempted to look for chamber pots under the bed.

Spoiler

And of course, there's Cass with her book. Offered to read the smutty book too and she's horrified.  The Inquisitor is too ... 'holy' to read smutty literature.

Spoiler

I mix the group a bit, left Varric behind and brought two mages along; Solas and Dorian. I was wondering if they would say something to each other. As I stood looking across Crestwood with the dragon visible in the distance, Solas just had to say something moody; Thedas is a land piled with tragedies. Thanks Solas old boy, just admire the view will you? ^_^

P.S. Flipping through screenies to make wallpapers to cycle through in the desktop background. Trying to take fewer screenies actually. :D I know mods allow the camera to fly around, take close ups, sharpen, etc. Too troublesome. I'm settling for the commonly used methods.

After 10 hours in The Hinterlands, I moved on to the Storm Coast. Still can't believe I spent so long in the Hinterlands in my 928385732873th playthrough :') I always take Blackwall to the Stormcoast but now I switched Solas/Dorian for Cassandra in the hopes she might teach him something about how to use armor. I don't know what I did wrong but Blackwall gets killed instantly with every enemy while Cassandra is an armored death-machine, and both of them have the same armor skills.

For some reason, in all of my playthroughs, Blackwall is an armored death machine compared to everyone else and Iron Bull just lays down. Actually in Trespasser, Blackwall SOLO'D the Qunari and the Qunari Dragon, because the rest of my team died as soon as they entered that Dragon room. And he was victorious, and barely used any potions. His guard kept replenishing. I was like holy sht. BLACKWALL.

favorite tank.

My husband cleaned the bathroom last night.  Scrubbed the toilet and everything.  So now, the house is clean enough for guests.  Woot!  Last night I did WEWH with Adam.  Kept Celine on the throne.  Tried to reunite her with Briala.  Didn't work.  I've never met all the conditions in order to get them back together. I wonder if sparing Gaspard's life makes any damn difference?  I'll go back to my save and see if that changes anything since I actually remembered to save right before confronting everyone in the ballroom.  Somehow I doubt it but whatevs!

Don't forget the veilfire puzzles. I didn't do them in the previous PT because I wanted to get the conclusion, though I did try to figure them out from the obvious signs but couldn't of course. :P

I get different kinds of armor in the low level rounds for my PT, the defender coat appear the most  but in this current PT, I've gotten the lower tier defender mail that is closely styled after the battlemaster and the defender coat arms, I have no liking for the superior defender arms because the big sticking out pauldrons are an eyesore. I prefer lines of armor mail to be streamlined (practical), nothing to stick out badly. They look fine on Cass because of the style of armor (Seeker) that's set for her but matched with defender / battlemaster...ugh.

While checking the solutions for the veilfire puzzles for Trespasser, I also looked up heavy armor schematics. The Dragon Hunter mail, dropped in Hakkon, Revered Defender Mail, Griffon Mail, The Skin That Shields all have better stats but then again, ugly in my eye. Going to stick with Battlemaster, I've done fine with it. It's not going to make much difference imo since I don't do nightmare difficulty, the stats are apart by less than 20 points.

Back to what did I do in DAI? Closed the big Rift in Crestwood. I picked up that quest from the spirit who couldn't affect the world. I went with Solas, Dorian and Cass and then fetched right up against that locked door just before the Fire Demon. Crap, I've to go get Varric so I backtracked, went out and was puzzled when the Spirit quest updated to telling her I've killed the demon. Huh? I haven't touched it yet, I just saw it glide away.

Changed party, went back down and saw it's true. The demon died without my ever fighting it.

Seriously considering not finishing this playthrough.  My assassin archer is so squishy we're halfway down on health pots and she's had to be revived just 60 seconds into combat.  I'm just not feeling it.  Maybe I'll just go do something else for a while or roll up a new Inq.

Play as a mage. Or make armor that has guard-on-hit

I did that the first time, then forgot and reloaded again because those stupid harlequins make me lose all sense. :pinched: At least I got a screenshot first though. So now she's just wearing the "black" formal gear. Hopefully in the next game they will be able to do real black, not grey-black or brown-black or blue-black or whatever they think is black in this game.

I like both the Dragon Hunter armor from JoH, and the Skin That S____ (though only on female characters) from Trespasser. I just wish the specialty armors had arm/leg upgrade slots. Iron Bull is the only one who looks good in the Revered Defender Mail - spiky is kinda his thing. :P I don't really like any of the Griffon armors and would like the Sentinel armor way better if it didn't have the spiky shoulders. Still, I think I might have Aravas switch into it before heading through the final Eluvian to meet Solas.

The Free Marches bed is the one I usually pick (canopy!). This game I picked one of the Orlais beds and thought it was meh, so I switched it out for the Dwarven bed.

Craft armour/weapon with guard on hit or walking fortress? That'll help a squishy character.

Those harlequins are frustrating, and yeah, having actual black in a future game would be nice. I didn't like how in different lighting, black armour looks either dark grey/black, brown/black, blue/black.

Update on harlequin farming: tagged 3 of 5 so far, which is a record for me. Will hopefully be able to get the last two before bed time. If not, well, notTeagan will just have to wait another day to throw his temper tantrum. :P

Edit: Got them all! Then I had a panic attack because when I went to save the game, I was at the 250 save limit and it wouldn't let me....aaaah! Once that was resolved, my first stop was the nug so I don't ever have to farm harlequins again.

Why does a longsword schematic show up under staff category?

Today, I walked around the Hissing Wastes and the Emprise du Lion trying to get Bull and Dorian to hook up. For two and a half hours. There has to be a better way.

(Cheat Engine isn't an option. It crashes my game every time I try to use it.)

I thought the harlequins were spies initially.  I accidentally tagged one after talking to Cass, rounded a corner and bumped into one. I didn't realise what had happened at first; why am I getting a stat boost? Then it dawn on me. :P But I never did get the rest, just that one.

Bug on the schemetic maybe? Or mislabeled. It sounds familiar tho.

Have you been to Frostback Basin yet? Might try wandering around for a while there, even if you don't do anything other than avoid spiders. It seems to be more banter-friendly than the other regions.

I just rerolled as a mage.  I was using armor that had guard on hit, but died before I had any guard built up.  I forgot to say I was up against that first bruiser in the JOH night raid.  I'm nearly done with her anyway.  She's there if I'm ever feeling lucky, but I'll be doing something else in the meantime.  I decided on a male for the Dorian romance, he's so fun and I need a diversion.

Made the first trip through the Eluvians only to discover the qunari are up to no good. Why, however, still remains to be seen. Discussed the situation in a makeshift War Room; the only option is to head back to the Crossroads and try to learn more. Found all the map statues even though I already have the schematic you get as a reward (Encore). The added cunning points are nice though. Plus, it's not nearly as tedious as harlequin farming.

Also finished reading all of Hard in Hightown. That Varric guy isn't so bad of a writer.   All that's left is Chapter ??? in the elfy library.

Went to Western Approach. I like the additional abilities to certain skills. Like Whirlwind for example, I can choose to make it such that it pulls in surrounding enemies. If I spot rogues sneaking in, they don't have a chance at backstab. Or the Roll, I usually chose to give the dodge / roll additional dmg; that's why I tend to roll a lot when fighting dragons. They get really upset, annoyed and always try to swipe with their legs but I'm always away, dodging and inflicting dmg at the same time. Their attempts to throw out fire, electricity, pulling in with their wings tend to get interrupted. They also tend to collapse to the ground because the dmg just keep stacking up. I've to admit that dragon fights were difficult for me, I usually didn't slot the dodge / roll in the old PTs but with the recent and present PT, I did and it really made a difference.

I got a surprise when killing one of the giants near the camp to the north. It flew off when I did the whirlwind; the giant had collapsed to the ground due to dmg and a wyvern joined in the fight. That never  happened before. I didn't manage to get a screenshot, I was so astonished. I think it happened because I equipped a enhance whirlwind ring on the inquisitor.

Went to Hissing Wastes next. A ram got in the line of fire so the party killed it. It dropped a fennac fang. Huh?   The Ram ate it I supposed.

Dorian keeps harping on Solas's bad dressing. I'm wondering if Solas wouldn't land something on Dorian out of pique in a fight and pretend it's friendly fire. :P

I've realized I have never truly roleplayed. At best, I choose one or two personality traits and stick with that without giving it much thought.

I am about to play my Warden again. The first time was just a test and this one is what's gonna stay. More importantly, I'll try to do it right and create a true person, who acts and reacts to things his own way. This may require writing it down, which I'd never done before, ha ha.

It's also a challenge because he is a Dalish elf. That means struggling with the limitations of the stereotype that you cannot escape entirely. And well, it's hard to relate to a character that grew up in the wilderness.

Wish me luck.

Went to find the missing Seekers with Cass. It's ironic that the Fiery Promise share a common goal though to different ends; to destroy Thedas and create paradise for humans. I can't figure what kind of skull that is behind the dying Seeker because clearly, it's not human. And I don't mean the one with the horns. :D

Spoiler

Getting Cass mad is not a very good thing. Solas is looking equally angry. Dorian and Inquisitor seem to have that

Spoiler

P.S. Writing little thoughts that came by as I worked on fanfic. This isn't the place for them but it's as gd as any. Solas's plan to tear down the Veil is a good and bad thing. The bad is obvious. The good? A controlled removal is better than an uncontrolled displacement that crash down on unsuspecting heads. His telling the inquisitor she, the humans would have some time for peace, applies to him too except that he needs more time to put his wards against the false gods in place. To prepare those who follow him, to fight against the false gods; I doubt he's strong enough to take them all by himself. I have to suspect too that he used cunning to trick them into a certain placement where he could take them unawares and throw them all into wherever they are now and raised the Veil.

In putting up the Veil Solas would have made sure there are strong fixtures to hold it in place, he would have used all his powers to make it so, hence, his long sleep recovering from its effects. But nothing lasts forever. If he did not awaken, would not someone like Corypheus not find  something that may inadvertently tear it down? Inevitably, the Veil will go whether Solas interferes or not, the question is...when.

The false gods are exiled. Solas says it is a place of torment but does not say if magic is live there. Even if it isn't, torment or not, the Exiles would lay quiet? Unlikely. No one knows what is happening to them, I doubt even Solas knows, he just assumes they're suffering but assumption is a weak premise to stand on.

Thanks! It wasn't what I envisioned going into the CC, I wanted a bald + beard look but couldn't make it work. This combo suited him best. I wish the hair colour would stay consistent though - it's supposed to be black but is sometimes light brown, or greyish blue.

Good luck with the role play.  :D
