Level 15 is very respectable, even on Casual. Nicely done!As far as I know, the lowest level completion on Casual is this speedrun. Started the final quest at Level 12:https://www.youtube....w3at46lqAukThatrun has some glitching to avoid some time consuming quests and also was an old enough patch that infinite Thousand Cuts still worked, but as far as I know, no one has started the final quest at lower than 12.(Wow, that same guy, letterswords, has a DAO speedrun that's under 40 minutes! How is that even possible?)

I had no glitches, and I did avoid doing Viviennes personal quest. It's my fastest run I have ever done, to be honest. And how do you do a Origins playthrough in 40 minutes? That takes a lot of effort to do in DAO, doing a speed run. I'll do a nightmare mode too, just for now I'll do it on hard with my Cousland-looks like that is a human warrior, she'll be a Cullen romance, I suppose. Cause I dont want to be lonely, and her romance was Alistair in DAO so it would make sense her romance would be Cullen.

I decided it was about time to stop lurking and actually post in here.  I love seeing what everyone is doing!

I'm currently working on a playthrough where I'm going to try to romance Blackwall and then Cullen.  Should be about ready to see if it's possible since I just entered the Fade from Adamant.

Speaking of which... what made think of this thread was finding myself chuckling for having the same reaction in every playthrough when I see Alistair hanging onto the crumbling walkway.  Every single time I wind up saying "Oh, no you don't." out loud. If I have to put up with Anora's annoying presence in Redcliffe just so I can spend some time with Alistair and hear him talk about the HoF, he's NOT going to fall to his death.  Every one of my Inquisitors knows they're continued existence depends on helping Alistair up.  Just sayin'.

Went to beat up the HW dragon; I was looking for more dragon bones really to craft armor. The Storm Coast dragon is not accessible since Adamant is still untouched and Emprise du Lion not opened yet. I used to wait until party is around 21 -22 but this time, I went at the Hissing Wastes dragon at 20. Evenly matched.

At one point we were battling away right at the entrance to Fariel's Tomb because the whirlwind dragged the dragon there. I was half afraid it would get stuck or when it died, the head gets clipped to a place I could not reach but thankfully, she flew off and landed in the open. I think that's a first for this dragon, she usually hops away.

I'm thinking of going to Frostback Basin next. The general consensus is that FB should be done after Cory died (RP and all that) because the main quest line there has nothing to do with him but I think the Rifts in that area is reason enough. Additionally, I don't want to hear party banter talking about Cory as if he's still alive when he was defeated (previous PT). It just drops the ground from under you, if you know what I mean. :D

Btw, I didn't get Viv for this PT. I think the terrace where she usually hangs out looks very neat and tidy. :D

Long time no see! I emerge from land of DA2 after two pts with rogue and warrior. Of course I couldn't stop myself from going sarcastic, but while rogue - Teria - had some aggresive options now and then mixed with regular sarcasm, warrior - Aidith - ended up being partially diplomatic.

Spoiler

Now back to DAI, to finish what I have planned. Poor Faye... *stares at Solas*

I'm doing a full DA session as a female Warrior Tabris. She's a Zevran romance. I'll start her as a kind, but stubborn young woman who does what is best for her family, despise her disliking of arranged marriages and what not, she does what is best for her friends and family. She'll grow a bit darker once she becomes a GW though.

Then my planned Hawke is a Male Aggressive Rogue Hawke who romances Merrill in the end, as he sides with the Templars. (This may change).

My Inquistor is going to be a Male Cadash. He romances Dorian (this all may change.)

So I think I broke DAI somehow.  I'm locked into the romance with Blackwall and have been for a while.  I'm now done with Wicked Hearts and Here Lies the Abyss, but he hasn't slept with me nor has he left Skyhold.  I'm wondering if his appreciation of me has dropped too much (I exiled the Wardens).  Oddly enough, I can still choose heart options for others so I might just see if I'll hit a wall with Cullen.

Off to see what I can do to fix this mess of a playthrough now.  LOL

Have found all the Warden artifacts? If not, finding 1 or 2 of them should get his approval back high enough to trigger Revelations.

I actually forgot a female inq can romance Blackwall  :)  but DAI doesn't offer much in LIs for a human female warrior. At least, for me. Cullen is the only one that stands out. And yeah, I never bother with the others in all my PTs.

Anyway, did IB's quest. His cringe worthy quest because of all the companions' quests, his is the weakest and the dumbest. After a few hundred years of walloping Tewinter and invading the southern lands, you'd think the qunari would have the brains to realise dreadnaughts are not the only type of ships to roam the seas nor the only vessels that can win a sea battle. I'd bet they can't do a single thing without using the hammer or referring to that great Qun of theirs. Sorry, I really loathe the qunari. Moving on.

I remember the first time I did that mission, I was suspicious as all get out because I didn't see any mages in the camp I was attacking (I think there is one though) and I thought, "If these are Venatori, where are all the mages?" Hmmm. Yeah, logic fails epically on that quest. The dreadnought carries enough gaatlok balls to sink the teeny ship, but not enough for one more shot at the mages on the shore, where they are more likely to be? Really? And Gatt's scouting team didn't see that 3d camp of mages hidden down on the beach? What were they doing then? Fishing? Ugh. I really wish we could at least kick Gatt out of Skyhold afterwards. And, given what happens in Trespasser, I'll never do the alliance now. I might set up a world state with it, though, to see if it has any effect in the next game.

Totally agreed on those points. It's pretty clear no alliance will be forming so why did he bother to follow the group back to Skyhold?

I'm wondering though, if IB knew those two humans were qunari spies, wouldn't he be able to at least tell Leliana how many more are in the inquisition? Or at least, what to look for after Trespasser. At least, I hope that is what he does. In all my PTs, I never let him kill the Chargers. No way.

Update.

Emprise du Lion.

Suledin Keep - First giant was near RTs all bunched up. Good grouping for a whirl. I leaped in and started whirling but RTs got thrown out of range and converged on Solas. Uh oh, no good. I dropped the whirl, the giant behind me and ran to his location. When RTs were dead, I turned, ready for the giant. He's no where in sight? Turned out he died, maybe he bounced hard into a wall or something but his looting ribs were there.

Killed a bunch of RTs and one of their spirits was definitely defiant because he's still talking ; you can't kill all of us!

Equipped Solas with a ring that made him invisible to attack and one of the amulets that allow him to revive after he died. It really saved me a lot of trouble looking for him because he died quite a few times when we hit the dragons. Also fiddled with his spell casting. I usually don't bother very much but ever since the devs upgraded the skills, I started looking into them. So when he cast his Rift spell, everything slowed down. I was wondering what was happening before it occurred to me it's his mage spells.

Hit the 23 level dragon while 21. It's a good thing the arena is small, we don't have to chase it all over the place. But it also mean we caught a lot of fire coming our way. Took about 15 mins or less to bring it down. It just seemed a longer fight than most because....mama kept calling for her babies.

Forbidden Oasis. Stepped on one of the fire circles and it exploded. But hardly any dmg. Nevertheless, Varric shouted; Hang in there Boss!

DAO Talia update: it took forever, but I finally decided to do the mage tower instead of Redcliffe as the first mission after Lothering. While trying to make up my mind, I recruited Shale and got some information from one of Cailan's guards about some important documents left behind at Ostagar. Haven't returned there yet though.

So, Talia made it to the mage tower, added Wynne to the party in place of Shale, and onward they went. Didn't have too much trouble with the regular abominations, but one of the desire demons was able to 1-shot curse me until I used a spirit balm before the fight. Friendly fire being a thing I can't turn off is kind of annoying. Skipped the Fade except for the nightmares and sloth battle. Even he wasn't that hard, just long and tedious, having to basically beat him 4 times instead of just once. Found Cullen imprisoned and, while feeling horrible about what happened to him, Talia really wanted to smack him silly for talking about her and his crush in front of everyone else.  :o If only she could have turned back into a mouse at that point!

And now, I'm up to the Uldred battle and I can't get past it. I'm playing on Hard, have Al, Leli, Wynne, and Wrex (Dog) with me and, between them all dying and then Uldred kicking my a$$, and the game crashing 900 times in a row, I'm about to give it up and change my difficulty back to easy mode. I really don't remember this fight being so hard in my last game (also on Hard). On top of that, he's putting the whammy on the mages I'm trying to save faster than the Litany recharges. I'm pretty sure that's considered cheating. <_<

Anyway, just came here to complain post after the game crashed yet again. I forgot how unstable it is when too many spells are flying around. It's why I stopped summoning mages to the archdemon fight and just use the ballista instead.

That's really odd. Never had a crash with DAO.

Adamant Fortress (story style) :P

The battlements were a chaotic jumble of lights from burning torches, spilled oil, water, tumbled boulders and stones. The air was filled with the cries of fighting soldiers, their clashing swords and shields. Shriller still over the cries were the ungodly screams of demons. He shuddered as one passed by, its fiery claws outreaching, burning fury. The wicked smell of its passage made him ill, his uniform a shield that prevented its wrath from falling on him. Or perhaps it was the taint of his blood. It mattered not. He ignored the shouts of the others. It was not his fight but he stayed. The noise drowned out that insidious siren calling deep inside him.

A thousand curses on Clarel. She had brought the anger of the Inquisition, the people on them. He had swore an oath to fight darkspawn, not conniver with Tewinter mages and call demons his shield comrades. Why did he not leave, take his chances in the Deep Roads, brave the last song of battle against the Blight? More noise issued from the stairway, a fresh group had arrived. Someone pummeled from behind, shouting at him, pushing him forward. Half heartedly, he raised his sword and nearly retched from the stench a demon trailed behind as it leaped for the invaders.

Sparks flew, light from a curiously curved greatsword flashed as it cut through the demons and his brothers and sisters. A deadly thing of beauty, he had never seen such a sword. He watched mesmerized as that sword swung again and again. The demons screeched, the wardens died. A golden armored figure victorious. He didn't think of running, he was frozen, watching that figure come closer and closer. A dragon helm. Someone fell against him, he opened his mouth, saw a pair of determined eyes through the protective face guards of the dragon helm. The Herald. He would die, he knew, in her hands. He never felt the blow that fell him, mouth still opening but the only word he said was, "S-h-i-t."

:P

What does that have to do with anything? I'm a working adult too, and I've finished the game 8 times, well 8.5 actually, and started number 9. :D I still haven't played every race/class combo, or tried out all the specializations or romances. There's always something new to do.

I finally played trespasser!  It was really fun but also kind of sad, maybe because my inquisitor romanced solas (which turns out to be the worst decision she has ever made by the way). It's disappointing about the mark though, and I don't know what that means for the next game, but DA4 is going to be very interesting nevertheless. I didn't even realise what happened to the anchor until the next scene :o  Also I hope the end theme will be used for the next game, because it was quite powerful. I always thought the Inquisition soundtracks in the game were a little average before I heard that...to be honest. Chose to redeem solas and disbanded at the end.

I really do not like the walkways on the scaffolds in Deep Descent in the hunt for the gears. I feel my hair standing up as I imagined myself really there; I'd hardly move I think.  No safety rails and it's a looooonng drop down. *shivers*

Had a terrible time with the final Emissary. Fire, lightning and thunder, bursting rocks. Open Rift, combat roll, slam, pommel strike, *ducks* , fresh mobs! Whirl and try to get them glued up, interrupted, pommel strike to stun the emissary, mIss! Arraaaghhh! Strike, strike, strike, backed it into the corner. I could hardly hear the music, rousing as it is, with all the explosions, screeching and what nots crowding the speakers.  Family must be wondering battle I'm having; on weekends, I just upped the sound. :P

I think it took more than 20 minutes (just seem very long to me). Tough boss.

So, taking a break and thinking of events in my fanfic. That in turns conjures more theories, some prompted by some threads I looked in now and then (depending on subject title).

The Titans predate the Blight, they existed during the time of the ancient elves. Magic in that time, I have to assume, is totally different. The elves used it to create places, constructs, beautiful items. Magic is a force they used to craft and I presume, experiment with. The full extent of its possibilities is not what it is now. Misinterpreted, misused (Tewinter), stunted, stagnated out of fear by humans and qunari. Lack of understanding is why they use every means to lock it down.

I would presume the ancient elves had no such fears. But then, what if the Blighted Titan smite down by Mythal was such an experiment gone wrong? What if the first blighted were the dwarves that were part of that Titan and spread it outwards.

What if the Dragons trapped beneath the land of Thedas were originally meant as guardians of the Fade? Their role to keep watch, ground the foundation and maintain stability of the Fade and Thedas?  The ancient elves worked with the Fade, someone has to keep an eye on its ebb and flow, so to speak. If so, who appointed the dragon guardians? Were they formed out of need? Or created?

*wanders off*

Only took one try to get Uldred today, though everyone else still died and Talia had to solo the last 25% or so of his health. <_< Once the Circle, with Templar support, was on board, it was time to head to Redcliffe. Alistair decided this would be a good time to tell Talia that he's actually an illegitimate son of Maric, the former king, and therefore Cailan's half brother and possible heir to the throne. Because things really needed to be more complicated!

Turns out Redcliffe village was under attack by undead coming from the castle. What was that about complications, now? Talia decided to help them fight off the next attack since Teagan was being difficult by not telling them how they could get into the castle via secret passageway unless she did so. [If you never recruit Leliana in DAO, how does she know about this entrance in DAI?] Talia persuaded the local dwarf tough guy, the cowardly bar keep, and the shady elf spy to all help in the fight, and also convinced the blacksmith to help as well by promising to find his daughter in the castle. Easy enough since they were going there anyway. Eventually. She also talked the chantry mother into giving the few available knights some amulets to raise their morale. Only because Ser Perth was so pretty, though.

Finally, night came and so did the undead. Loads of them down the road from the castle, and then more via the lake. Who knew undead could drive boats? They were all defeated and nearly everyone in the village survived (no named npc's bit it, anyway). At last, they could head for the castle to see what was going on and if Eamon was even still alive. Just about that time, the arl's wife came running, spewing pleas for help while leaving out key bits of information. It was enough for Talia to figure out the likely source of the attacks was the arl's son, who had almost certainly been possessed by a demon. A few score of undead later, and her theory was confirmed. What she hadn't known, however, was that her old ex-friend Jowan had shown up, ostensibly to teach the arl's son how to hide his magic, but instead had taken the opportunity to poison Eamon. Wonderful. Why did Talia ever like him again? Oh, right, she didn't, which is why she ratted him out to Irving.  :P

While I really wanted Isolde to kick it so I wouldn't have to see hear her in MoTA, Talia never approved of Jowan using blood magic, so she hightailed it back to the Circle to get a boatload (heh, since they likely took a boat to save time ) of lyrium in order to challenge the demon in the Fade. Just like her Harrowing, only worse, if that was possible. But she was able to defeat the demon and save Connor, who appeared no worse for wear. Talia didn't envy the nightmares he was likely to have for many years.

So, the demon was dead and the village safe, but Eamon was still in a coma. Isolde asked Talia to try to find the Urn of Sacred Ashes to cure him, and said she should begin looking in Denerim, where a Chantry scholar who had done extensive research on the urn, could be found. New destination in hand, Talia and crew headed back to their camp to get ready for the long journey to the capital.

A few more notes:

Talia bought the sword from Kaitlyn and gave Bella 5 sovereigns to start over in Denerim.

Shale has taken to calling Zevran the "painted elf." Not sure I remember hearing that before but I find it amusing.

I'm slowly gaining approval with everyone (except Morrigan*). I haven't resorted to gifts yet though - I try not to give any until I get them to 25% so my character actually has some idea what they like.

I'm planning on romancing Zev the right way this time rather than by default after Al dies.

Don't know if I'll make him do the DR this time, though I might have to if I make him king and don't recruit Loghain. Considering Loghain was in part behind what happened in the Circle, Talia isn't going to be too fond of the idea of keeping him around.

*I lost what few approval points I had with her by not allowing Kitty to possess Amalia. Why on earth would someone disapprove of that, especially considering Morrigan has no desire to be possessed herself. But it's ok for the kid? Really?

Act II - The Veil

After talking with Sun-hair, party went up the path to the Augur at Stone Bear Hold.

Solas : Strange, the Veil  is thin here. I've never seen so many spirits gathered in one place

Varric : ... and everybody takes a drink.

I wish the response is really everyone, except Solas, drinking and adding remarks of their own.  I burst out laughing at that one.

I've started playing a mage Hawke for the first time and I must say, I absolutely love Carver.

You gotta admire a guy who isn't afraid of speaking his mind and having the unpopular opinion. As a character, he is more interesting than Bethany.

He's kinda like Fenris. Not a bad person, just grumpy.

Not to mention that the interaction with Carver is great . I love it when Hawke tells him "I keep every death with me. If you want that weight, you'd better be ready to take it!"

Garret and Carver, best bros 4 life.

Interesting you should say that! I have moderate fear of heights, but I loved the level design of Descent. That central chamber of the ruined Thaig is magnificent. I don't feel the same vertigo as I do IRL. Maybe it's that parallax thing, my depth perception isn't tricked enough to trigger it.

So maybe if I imagine that a height IRL is just a video game ...

Well, I think so, but others might disagree. I hear a distant echo of Solas's dialogue in Icy's (Indomitable Courteous Fist). Their manner of speech is a bit similar. Cut from the same archetype, if you will.

But Icy isn't a back-stabbing megalomaniacal arse -- well, not as far as I've read anyway. Also, Icy has sworn an oath to harm no living thing. Kind of anti-Solas in that respect.

NOTE: Rogues of the Republic is not set in the Dragon Age universe. It is independent IP.
