Today, after far more playthroughs than I want to admit, I heard the conversation between Morrigan and Alistair about Kieran. I thought it was never going to happen.

Here's what I did, for anyone who's still struggling to get it. It didn't require any mods or any plot flag editing.

1 Kieran has to exist.

2 Complete Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts before entering Crestwood for the first time.

3 Have that first conversation where Kieran says something about your racial background before going to Crestwood for the first time.

4 Go to Crestwood and meet Alistair.

5 When you return to Skyhold, save the game, then fast travel to the courtyard garden where Morrigan hangs out and pause the game.

6 It's important to pause the game while you get oriented because the conversation starts right away and it isn't very loud.

7 Unpause the game and run over to Morrigan. She and Alistair will be talking about Kieran. It's an ambient conversation and easy to miss, so save first and don't be afraid to reload.

Racial background? Oh, I suppose only for non-human inquisitors. Thanks for the tip.

That Frostback Basin Fade spider went the same way as the giant when I did the whirlwind. It struck...something and died straight away. No idea what. :D

Went to Deep Roads. Fight with ogre went off well and then, somehow, Varric got himself seriously injured. He was all right after the fight so I was confused. When I switched to him, this is what I saw...

It's blurry because he's doing swimming motions, his head is in the rock, going "aaarrghh.......arrgghhh" I couldn't switch back to the inquisitor so I kept trying. When I did, the entire party ended up the same way, including Valta. Everyone was going "aarghh...aarggh"

I stood there for a few seconds, wondering if I should load an earlier save but decided to move up further down the path and see if they popped back up. They did; everyone took a drink. Thanks guys for raiding the healing potions. <_<

This makes me exceedingly happy.  Made a new staff which has been dubbed Critical Analysis which is a fire staff since I'm working the Frostbacks and lots of cold resistant enemies there.

If I find that critical chance ring when I do the descent I might be able to bump that up some more.  MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Iron Bull is flirting with Adam's man, Dorian.  I'm not opposed to that.  I'd ship the hell out of it.  Heh.

Thomas opened up Emprise du Lion today. I love this area, it's so beautiful and the silverite/dawnstone run is quite satisfying once you hit level 16.

Emprise du Lion is the only area I've been able to get Token of the Packmaster to work properly. Taking the puppies for a walk ...

Gotta love the vertical threat of Descent!

While trying to use Fade Step to get to those tantalizing lit-up areas across the chasm, near the ruins of the entry elevator, I ended up in an infinite falling loop. Save/Load did not end it. Pretty hilarious.

That happened to me as well, while messing around the center monument in the thaig. Varric fell first (I sense a pattern here ) and quizzy went to find him and ended up in the infinite fall loop. I had to reload to a save from before I went up the ladders.

Talia successfully ended the Blight. She killed the Archdemon and lived to tell the tale by persuading poor Alistair to do the DR. He's king, Anora is locked up in a tower somewhere (assuming darkspawn didn't get her) and Talia is the new Chancellor. Zevran is sticking around.  Wynne and Shale are planning a trip to Tevinter to possibly un-golemize Shale, and Sten is heading home. Oghren expects to stay on the surface and Leliana is going to lead a Chantry expedition back the Temple of Sacred Ashes. Not bad for a bunch of misfits.

Fast forward 6 months.....it was a dark and stormy night, and the Vigil was filled with darkspawn. Talia was named the new Warden-Commander of Ferelden and saddled with the task of rebuilding the order there. She was supposed to have the aid of a dozen Wardens from Orlais but they were all conveniently killed when darkspawn attacked the keep. Instead, she's had to enlarge the ranks by recruiting basically anyone she comes across who can fight: her old buddy Oghren, a smart-arse mage named Anders, and yet another assassin, none other than Nathaniel Howe. Though, the latter at least seems much more personable than his late father.

So begin the adventures of yet another band of misfits. First up: the cellars beneath the keep, where more darkspawn may be hiding.

That never happened to me yet but it might. I'm actually more afraid of Varric.  :P  Of the companions I always bring along, he's very prone to pushing the inquisitor. I'm just afraid he'll push the Inq right off the edge when I was doing all that scaffolding climbing. I always rush at my best speed, even going down and take off the moment feet land on wood.

I'm thinking about replaying DA2. I've seen a lot of Anders stuff on my blog lately, and I'm feeling nostalgic. DA2 had a lot of flaws and it was heavy handed in places (and the reused environments make me a little crazy), but the story itself is just so excruciating.

And please, I know a lot of you folks hate Anders with a flaming purple passion, but this isn't an invitation to launch into a diatribe about it. I recognize that he performed an atrocity. I'm not stupid. I simply enjoy having my heart torn out. It's like watching a train chugging toward a ruined bridge. You know the train isn't going to stop, that it's going to careen into space and crash in a fiery wreck below. But the feels!

Just had a weird experience in the Emerald Graves doing the Tiniest Cave.  I jumped on it well over 100 times, with no voice other than the "deviation from the plan" line, and was nervous about it being bugged, but Inq was stealthed while wearing the Ring of Doubt.  I switched to another character and got the rest of the sequence normally.  Don't know if switching to a different jumper helped, but I think so.  Returning to lurker mode.

I still like Anders.  Despite blowing up the Chantry.  I imagine the reasons why are similar for people who still like Solas after the end of DAI.  In my last PT of DA2 I had Hawke in a relationship with him, and she spared him. I guess even despite that there is just a sympathetic aura about him.  Like he needs saving. I think even without Justice/Vengance he would have eventually done something radical.  But I like to pretend that Hawke can reform him,

I couldn't sympathise with Anders.  His actions were fueled by feelings of persecution, anger, hatred, the restraints, duties he was compelled into taking up (he never chose to be a warden). He's one of those who hated to have his freedom curtail; he persistently run away from the Circle. He might had railed at his fate, to be born a mage. It's a well worn pattern for him, being forced onto paths he did not want, being forced to perform or abide by rules.  He never came to terms with it, it would have grated and ate at him. I would even go as far as to say he's the kind who felt his wants, his feelings outweigh the needs of anyone else, that he had suffered more than anyone else. He walked willingly but without understanding into possession by a spirit that ended getting warped by his emotions and unbalanced personality. I always think his last action was in reality more for himself, an explosion of bottled up fury and madness, than a 'heroic' stance against the persecution of mages by Meredith or a statement against the Chantry.

I always feel that Anders is a counterpoint to Hawke. Both suffered loses but Hawke didn't fall into the abyss as Anders did. It takes strength and character to accept what had been dealt out and move on.

Solas. I have more sympathy for him. He came from a time in the past, where magic is wonder, easily available and a tool that is not feared. It was wielded with knowledge, understanding and used to craft many beautiful things. It was a language 'spoken' by his people and shared readily, until the dark of emotions began to take hold. Spirits were not feared but treated equally. In the present, he is an alien. Though he beheld the passing of events in his dreams, he could only interpret them as one would looking through the mirror. He awoke to a barren,  fearful world, populated by living beings he felt were not true and thus not people. What he had tried to wrought in creating the barrier had only caused the downfall of everything and everyone he knew. It weigh on him, he feels guilty. He had attempted to do good but it turned out terribly. He set out to correct his mistake but in the process, he eventually gained understanding of the present state, the people who now live where his world used to be. His opinion changed but, still, he wants to correct his error. His people have suffered long enough but even as he carries out his plans, I believe he is torn / conflicted within.  His actions are fueled by the need to redeem himself for having thrown his people into darkness.

I defeated Cory again. Actually, i tried to kill Cory at level 15. He killed me (or more like his Dragon did) with a snap. So i leveled up Artemis to level 16, i ended the game with him level 17. Second time i did it!

After long last, continued my Nightmare run (lvl 4 currently) and hey, to make it even more challenging, decided to flip Walk Softly trial on. Our group promptly got gang-banged by 4 Templar Defenders sporting full guards.

*clicks trial off*

I've been stuck in the Dalish origin quest for days now. I'm incapable of coming up with a clear personality and most importantly, identity for my character. And I can't bring myself to go any further before I accomplish that.

So Adam just has to kill Coryfish.  Also didn't get that superb critical chance ring.  And I'm too lazy to try to farm for it.  Ah well.. I have some pictures but I've yet to upload them.

Thomas finished up some quests in the Exalted Plains - rescued Celene's troops from undead and Elven contraptions, collected a white wyvern heart for Viv, oh and killed a dragon. He's hit level 20, but with Even Ground on there's still some challenge. I've activated Take it Slow now as well, which I should have done earlier, as there's still DLC to do. There was time for some posing - Sera got bored and wandered off (true story ).

I've always really liked this painting in the Emerald Graves, and could happily live with it. I had to flip it, so the pic looks a little odd.

I've just started my canon PT in Origins. The first time was just the test run and this one is the real deal.

I had to stop for a minute when this moment came up. The first version of my Warden had this terrible underbite which I only noticed when it was too late, and that frustrated me to no end.

Seeing it clearly fixed here filled me with joy.

My Dorian Romance (I resisted Cassandra by not talking to her and avidly seeking Dorian's approval :)) finally got rolling after I defeated Coryphues with my Cassandra romancing Male Lavellan (Aka the second time I've romaced Cassandra) and I was juggling between my Female Mage Lavellan who is currently in the process of romancing Solas when I got my first kiss from him. Ha! No, it was my second kiss actually, Origjn deleted my first save where I was romancing Dorian. Yay for me resiting Cassandra super hard core, it got the point were I just didn't talk to her and kept to myself. Dang, it's hard not to romace her though, she's got an excellent romance...

If I roll a male find it hard not to romance Dorian.  I tried once to romance Cass, but ended up romancing Dorian.  I adore Dorian.  I find I'm such a creature of habit though.  My human females are going to romance Cullen.  My non-human females are going to romance Iron Bull.  Human males - Dorian.  I romanced Blackwall once and Sera once and tried to romance Cass once but she took too long (hence Dorian on that PT).

Still working on my true self-insert. Man I miss Leaping Shot. :pinched:

So "Me", has now made it to Skyhold. I have most of the trials on, and (in case anyone remembers) I have rules set up, to mimic what I believe I would be capable of doing (in combat, and too a degree in dialogue options/quests I would take).

Both In Hushed Whispers and In Your Heart Shall Burn, were trying for me. I got one-shot by a promoted RT Knight (at least I think it was an RT Knight  ), during IYHSB. Not a peep from "ma peeps". Feeling the love, guys. <_< lol!!

At Skyhold I accepted my newly promoted role, crafted with Dagna, made out with Solas, and talked to my new spec trainers. I have always planned on going with Artificer, since it is the only specialization I could rationalize (based on my rules). BUT!!! This throws off my logistic plans, on how I was going to proceed through the main storyline. GAH! You see, I had originally planned to do WE&WH's before Adamant, this time (usually do the other way around), but I was still going to do Crestwood first - much of that is because I would feel it as a pressing matter for two reasons: One, Mother Giselle has been prattling on about the troubles in Crestwood since Haven, and two, finally starting to unravel the troubles with the wardens and their potential connection to the problems at hand, seems urgent.

Now back to my problem with the Artificer spec I want to take. Since I had never played as one before, I never bothered to look at the requisition order. It requires Alpha Quillback quills! Dammit!! Now if I want my spec before going off to WE&WH's, I will have to go to the Western Approach first. The reason I didn't want to do that, is because I wanted to do WE&WH's first. When just regular rping, I can suspend much more of my disbelief in things I do, within the game. But for this run, I needed a certain logic to apply. Western Approach is pretty damn far to the west of Skyhold. By waiting to do that with Oasis and Hissing waste (then going on to Adamant), it seemed more plausible and efficient (which is something I am apt to do in real life....hence why it was important to me in this self-insert experiment).

This means, I need to either just turn a blinds eye, go to Western Approach (maybe I just go ONLY for the quills, and pretend I found some merchant in VR that sells exotic items, who I really got the quills from), or I abandon my initial plans to do WE&WH first, and do Abyss instead. OR....I just do Western Approach, muster up my suspension of disbelief, and let the logic/efficiency slide for a moment, then go back to following my original plan: Open up Exalted Plains and take care of ramparts and Celene's people stuck in the Citadel, and then do WE&WH's.

Any thoughts, suggestions, votes? Would be much obliged.

Working my way through Awakening. Recruited Segrun and made her a Warden. Killed the inferno golem and the broodmothers, and gave Master Wade some goodies to work with. Now I'm almost done with the silverite mine....just have to kill the two dragons and watch the Architect float away. Grrr. Then it will be back to the Vigil to get Velanna into the club. Doing ok on approval so far. Anders' is the highest so he's holding down the fort while everyone else goes with me. I also sent Oghren back once Velanna joined the party since he didn't seem to want anything to do with her. :P Sometimes she bugs me, sometimes she's alright. This time it's the latter, maybe because I'm playing an elf. Not that Segrun seemed to notice, since she just got done telling Velanna, "You're the first elf I've ever known." Reminds me of Merrill saying she's never seen a dragon before....after watching Flemeth turn into one and fly away. <_<

Okay, a few suggestions, in increasing hand-wavy headcanon excusiveness (is that a word?)

1. Do Crestwood > Western Approach towards Adamant, but then the day of the Empress's ball is nigh

You talk to the mysterious stranger that Hawke vouches for in Crestwood and you even find out what the evil Magister is up to in the Western Approach, but you must break off the pursuit and delay the siege of Adamant because the date of the ball at Halamshiral has arrived.

2. The Inner Circle and the War Table demand that the Inquisitor tour all scout camps

Before proceeding to WEWH, your advisors urge that you tour all of Scout Harding's camps to get a sense for the state of Fereldan and Orlais and to discover any clues towards the mysterious Coryphish. Then, when you are passing through the Western Approach, you can collect some necessaries.

This is good option if you have oodles of Power already, since you'll burn a bunch of it opening every zone. If you run low on Power, there are always rifts to close. Or, even better, let the Power meter be a representation of time passing towards the date of the ball. If it falls below the amount needed to start WEWH, close a rift or two and depart for Halamshiral. Just make sure you start at the Oasis and work your way back.

3. You are on your way to Halamshiral, when an urgent message arrives that requires your presence in the Western Approach, because of ... reasons

A dragon was sighted? A party of Orlesian academics has gone missing in the WA and you don't want to show up at the Empress's doorstep and have to explain why you ignored it? Dagna is running low on lazurite and needs more to finish your gift for the Empress?

4. Dorian passes on a tip about Venatori activity in the Western Approach

He says it is urgent that they depart immediately to investigate. Yes, it's way out of the way and will take forever to get back to prepare for the ball, but it could be vitally important!

5. Solas detects a disturbance in the Force ... I mean, the Fade

Solas says that he dreamed about a silent fortress in the Western Approach that contains a powerful artifact and possible clues to the mystery of Coryphish. He says that he will investigate alone while you go on ahead to Halamshiral, but you will miss your main squeeze and would worry too much about him, so you insist on coming along (while everyone else rolls their eyes at your hopeless besottedness).

6. Three-Eyes slaps a contraption on your wrist that compels you to go to the Western Approach

Three-Eyes mind-controls you and you can't help yourself. You drag everyone to the Western Approach to go quill hunting. As soon as you return to Skyhold with the goods, Three-Eyes removes the contraption and you snap back to normal. And throw him in the dungeon. But he escapes and he waits until you cool down before he returns to complete your training.
