I got all the Venatori Tomes so my Lavellan romancing Solas is officially a Rift Mage! I can't wait to use Stonefist to crush enemies and draw enemies into my Fire Mines with Pull of the Abyss.
What Did You Do Today (in the DA 'verse) ? .... oops ;)

I'm having trouble finding the last codex entry for They Came from Somewhere Else, where you can recruit Helmsdim from JoH, and maybe you guys can help. The one I'm missing is by a Tevinter statue by the fortress gates. I haven't found any statues, except the one in the fortress with the rift, just those spires. Can anyone give me some more direction?

As you go up the stairs of the tower where the rift is, head left. There is a ledge on the left side. You have to jump over the short wall to get to it. The floor has the same symbols painted on it as are in his shop.

Thanks, Melbella, got it. I thought I searched the area, but I guess not. Now just tying up a few loose ends and taking on the night raid as a mage. Should be a lot easier this time.

Started another PT and promptly felt a little out of sorts because I'm looking and moving a female inquisitor around. What a relief, no more bulk and stomping! I did the golden nug from the last PT, which meant I also pulled in the latest schematics from Trespasser so everyone is well equipped. I'm tempted to set the game to the next difficulty.

Julian has been running himself ragged in order to save enough coin for the Deep Roads expedition. He ended up gathering more than twice as much as he needed, then spent the extra on level up tomes so he is now, once again, poor as a Chantry mouse. The trip better pay off or it's going to be back to Athenril's service otherwise.

This PT has a lot negatives. I forgot Connor died an abomination, I looked for him at his spot and didn't see him before I remembered. Sten was left to die....you get the idea.
Quite a number of chars bit the dust in the DK tapestry. Didn't let Leliana die though.
Really tempted to play elfy for the next one but maybe, if they announce DA4 is in the works, would I do that.
And as usual, there's always something new. I noticed this sparring pair in the corner while talking to Cass. Brrrr.... I think the shadow also reflects this oddity.

So, Kiri recruited Bull, Hessarian's Blades and all possible agents in the Hinterlands. She's now on her way to the Fallow Mire, to recruit Skywatcher. ![]()
I have a question tho, till now I always did In Hushed Whisper, so, how far can I go into the Quest (like, talking to Fiona in Redcliffe) without doing the quest? Cause I want to do Champions of the Just this time. ![]()

You can still talk to Fiona, Dorian and Felix in Redcliffe, and not complete the rest of In Hushed Whispers. Or don't travel to Redcliffe at all.

If the objective is to still meet Fiona and recruit Clemnce the Tranquil, you can do that and still turn around and do Champions of the Just. You can also go to the Chantry, close the rift, and talk to Dorian and Felix. It's just that when you get back to Skyhold, you have to choose CoJ instead of IHW on the War Table.
I usually go meet Fiona and recruit Clemence, but I don't go to the chantry. Dorian's joining conversation is a bit angrier if you met and then you turned your back on him. You get the same approval either way (or disapproval, in this case), but I feel better about it.

Tell me, is someone who says things like "we should be wary" before going inside the ruins and "You get into too much trouble, Tamlen" the kind of person that doesn't take risks and hesitates whenever there is danger?

Kiri talked with Fiona, recruited Clemence and then went to the Fallow Mire to get the Inquisition soldiers out of the hands of the Hand of Korth. After the fight she recruited Skywatcher, who she thought was a cool guy.
After that much rain, Kiri needed to go to a sunnier place and went to the Forbidden Oasis to warm up and close some Rifts.

After everything was done there, Kiri decided that it was time to meet with the Templars in Therinfal Redoubt.
Something felt fishy so she didn't do the ritual and went straight to meet Lordseeker Lucius, just to have to fight Captain Denam and his corrupted Red Templars.
The fight was over soon and after some more battling, Kiri met Lordseeker Lucius an Envy demon in disguise, who wanted to get into her head.
With some help from a weird boy named Cole she made it out of her own head without many problems, to confront Envy in the real world.

But first they had to save some Templar veterans to break the barrier that protected Envy.

With the barrier broken, Kiri fought and beat Envy in less then 3 minutes. (I'm playing on Nightmare, I thought that fight would be tougher
)

With Envy dead, Kiri disbanded the Templars, so they could get a fresh start.

Back in Haven, the Advisors, Cass and Kiri were just talking about what had happened, when a wild Cole appeared. (my baby
)

Of course Kiri told him he could stay and help. ![]()

Did you use Bee Grenades and did the character that tossed it have high crit chance? Bees are great in any case because they follow Envy into the Fade! and keep on doing damage. If the grenadier has high crit, the bees also do crit damage. I had my rogue toss the very first grenade of the encounter and by the time they were done, Envy had lost half his hitpoints. With the barrier broken, Kiri fought and beat Envy in less then 3 minutes. No, I didn't have any Bees with me. But Kiri uses two crafted Tier 3 Daggers and Solas has an Encore staff
I have Even Ground enabled, so Envy was on Lvl 10 like Kiri.

(Real-Life pulled me away from the game for such extended periods of time, that I felt like replaying the game from the beginning was the only suitable way to re-immerse myself in the World of Thedas. So this is my new Inquisitor.)
Last night I did a little bit more on my current Inquisitor, Alaric Trevelyan, after two previous failed attempts at completing the vanilla game.
I'm currently doing the Quest, "Champions of the Just", after deciding that the Mages in Redcliffe were fairly undeserving of his aide after falling so easily beneath the thrall of a Tevinter Magister. While also being a Trevelyan with close ties to both the Templar Order and the Chantry, his gut told him to look further into the issues that the Order is currently dealing with in Therinfal Redoubt.
Before this, however, he was finishing up a few tasks that involved aiding the refugees of the Hinterland acquire adequate supplies and support after the initial fighting between the Mages and Templars before the arrival of the Inquisition Forces.
One of the more interesting points of the evening came in the form of a certain Lord Woolsley. A colorful character-.. despite being a Ram.. creature..
And, before even that, Valammar. I nice leisurely stroll through the beautiful Carta run, Darkspawn infested, decrepit pit of a Dwarven Trade Post.
Which despite all that is perhaps one of the most beautiful environments in the game for me~!
There will be more to come tonight, and the confrontation with a certain Lord Seeker shall come to a head!

So, if the roads are surrounded by lava, why don't they melt?
Dumat's claws pop up in the weirdest places. There's a hallway further in that is lined with them as well.
I was trying to get a decent pic of the idol since I've never really looked at it too closely before.
Some of the lyrium here is still blue....
Final blow against the rock wraith.
Back in Kirkwall....Varric has some interesting artwork in his room at the Hanged Man.

Howdy guys! Hope everyone who celebrates had a lovely Christmas. I did some gaming since I have some time off. Decided to do Champions of the Just this PT. I've only ever done it once, so it is kind of fresh feeling.
Anyhow, here are some things Gemma Cadash encountered!
Gemma somehow made it to Skyhold at level 5. Didn't think it would happen. But somehow I managed that. As a completionist, skipping things hurt me. But I've gone back and read all those codex entries.

Didn't even bother to get Bull or Blackwall until AFTER we got to Skyhold. And Dorian wasn't really available either. So Viv, Sera and Cass made up TeamEstrogen for In Your Heart Shall Burn. Like with Knight Captain Denham, I just had Gemma turn the crank until the cut scene. Ddin't bother killing Fiona even though she's technically dead.
Took a moment to place some wagers on Giant/Dragon Bowl 2015. I think there were some Darkspawn near by who were shooting at the Giant.

Met Varric's friend Hawke and the Warden in Crestwood. Ran into a bit of an issue in a pond... #shortgirlproblems.

Helped Leliana find Corypheus's hideout...

Opened up the Hissing Wastes. What happened to this guy that half of him is in the rocks? I can only imagine that it was highly unpleasant to end up embedded within the rocks...

Also.. WHY YOU TEASE ME WITH THIS CORPSE I CANNOT LOOT, BIOWARE?!

Interesting enough, Woosley mean woodland clearing.
Whenever I see this name though, I think of Thomas Wolsey, Lord Chancellor of King Henry VIII.
Brought Solas and Sera (for once) on the mage mission. Leliana did her heroic sacrifice (a fav cutscene). She's such a staunch believer in the Maker, can't help but be moved. Without her faith and her past experiences, I think she would have fallen long before the inquisitor showed up. How long can one last being the experiment subject. I've to wonder though how they extract her blood. Magic? I supposed that goes for the other horrible experiments too; grafting healthy tissues on sick bodies.
We should have such strong moments, without a reset, in DA4. if DA4 is going to have the mother of all battles, for Thedas.

I've gotten myself into a pickle. I triggered "A Bitter Pill" before I wanted to (wanted to give Fenris the book first) and now I can't decide if I want to just go ahead with it (which means I can't go back home without triggering the romance scene) or go back to an earlier save and do his quest later. I would only lose about 40 minutes of game time but I did a lot of running around and talking to people in those 40 minutes. Ugh.
Edit: I went back to the last save so I could give Fenris the book. That gave me enough friendship to trigger the QB convo about how he escaped. I think I like this sequence better since it provides a bit more context for when you get ambushed by the slavers and go after Hadriana.
Back home, I clicked on mama Hawke only to hear her plotting to marry off Julian to one of the Reinhardts' daughters.
I'm not sure he's ever told her he doesn't swing that way. ![]()

Kiri would be able to do In Your Heart Shall Burn, but first I sent her on some more side quests in the Hinterlands and the Storm Coast, so I could get more Influence for another Inquisition perk.
I posted these pics already in the badass pictures thread, but I wanted to share them with you too.
Also, I think I broke The Mercenary Fortress side quest, cause I got too close to the Entrance of Valammar. ![]()
