In almost 5 playthroughs Battlemage Mail Arms have never dropped for me. Dorian needs that nice pauldron, so it was off to the Dog Vendor to buy him some off-the-peg . I also gained the Griffon Plate armour schematic from a War Table mission. I tried it on everyone and think it looks most dapper on Iron Bull -

Spoiler

Solas looks good in it too, but he's on the bench in this playthrough (which is difficult as I love Solas - his character and specialisation).

I've had quite a bit of time to play over the last couple of days, so I've enjoyed crafting, talking to companions and mooching about. All three dragons in EdL are now history (sad, really, they're very beautiful) and Thomas and Co. are now one step closer to the end after tracking down Samson's lair. Thomas also donated a piece of himself to Dagna for study. Just a sample  :D.

Avoiding (or engaging) the Giants is fun though. Plus, once you defeat all of them (like, 5 of them) don't they stop respawning?  I never defeat all of them though, it seems so cruel :) . Especially given how many giants you slay in the Western Approach-- and that one dude just peacefully going about the Forbidden Oasis?  I say let the giants keep to themselves-- notice how they never kill the nearby nugs or fennecs.

Now, the bears of Hafter's woods on other hand?  **** those bears.  All they do is run around kill everything, and then leave it immediately to kill another thing.  Slaying those douchebears is a public service.

Cheers :)

Irregardless, encounters with the giants cannot be avoided. They're on top of landmarks, mobs for a quest and passing by them always catch their attention and they'll come sniffing after you like a bloodhound. If you're in the middle of a fight with some other mob, some missile-rock-with-your-ass-targeted may come flying at you.

I always kill them because of their missile-guided-rocks. They annoy me to no end because you have to time it at the last second and hope the stupid thing didn't defy gravitic-line-of-sight and fly backward to nail you instead of forward when you combat roll under the giant.

Those giants suck.  Sometimes when I play as a rogue I go in stealthed and hope they don't perceive me while I'm trying to plant my flags.  Sometimes that works.  Sometimes they are busy with the red Templar Behemoth and you can skirt past them. If I want to avoid them I go up by the chateau and skirt the cave line and that usually gives me a wide enough berth to get past them and about my business.

Well finally got back into playing DA I.  Ran through most of the Emprise today after talking to Cassandra the awesome about her potential to be Divine Victoria.  This makes Ben sad.  Yet he will continue to bugger on no matter what.  So in the Emprise was his ability to free a bunch of the townspeople, killed off RT officers, liberated Suledin, closed two rifts, and then went back to Skyhold.  Though on the topic of those two rifts party composition can mean a lot...apparently...firt one used up like 11 health pots, and the second one...none.

So, Kiri finished all Crestwood quests, talked to Loghain and then went to fight the Northern Hunter together with Sera, Dorian and Blackwall.

Dorian was the first to die, soon Sera followed him to lie in the dirt and it was Kiri & Blackwall vs Dragon. Blackwall lived until the Dragon had about 30% HP left and then decided to lie down too. Kiri herself was too busy to rezz him, or any of the others, so she finished the Dragon by herself. :D

Spoiler

BTW the fight took around 3-4 minutes. :D

Also she got Alchemical Rigging from a war table operation. Sooo awesome, sadly the stats of her self crafted Warden armor are better, so the Rigging ended up in the storage chest.  -_-

Spoiler

And just before I went to bed, Kiri visited Leliana in the rookery and got her "Under Her Skin" quest.

Is it possible to gallop through them? I've never tried that. I usually do the skirting around the edge thing too, but it might be possible to gallop right through the middle. Doesn't help for planting banners or picking flowers, but if the objective is to get to the Greater Mistral dragon or the entrance to Din'an Hanin / Knight's Tomb, on a mount might be an option.

^I agree that giant fights are not normally much fun, but I had the most hilarious, explody fight today. Not sure what caused it (Antivan Fire?), but it was very funny and satisfying.

Well *sigh* I'm back i suppose. Lol. Frankly my progress with Ullia Mint tooth was getting kinda slow even though I was at 23 and hitting certain zones here and there and have been making progress in the JOH DLC before hopping over to GTA V. However once I beat that I became inbetween games but got RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER for the 360 for XMAS (YAY!) but no PS 4 (BOO!). I picked up Ullia and Vlah'Nu again (sorry no pics) and have been making steady progress with both.

I was fighting that dragon myself a bit ago today (Ullia Mint Tooth: female qunari mage at level 23 on NIGHTMARE) and felt unready for the guy so I reloaded my file and went to JOH and did some stuff like busting a portal, tent find and solve a orb constellation.

Btw for the elf girl....

Dealing with one is easy. Dealing with two on NIGHTMARE is a problem.

I'm so glad to be back in the Hinterlands after a disappointing run through Boston's Wasteland. I'm now on my way to meet the new love of my Qunari's life, and just realized that he has no eyebrows :D I knew there was something off about him and it took me 3 hours to see it :D Dorian might have to wait a bit longer, I'm probably going to the Black Emporium first.

Julian and crew were finally able to defeat Malvernis. I took control of Bethany during the first part (against those ****** flaming skeleton archers) until she dropped, then switched back to Julian. When Malvernis transformed into the dragon, I was able to revive Bethany (hah, remembered the Mythal's Favor potion this time B)) and then the two of them plus Fenris (Varric was dirt-napping for most of the fight) were able to take him down. The dragon is actually the easiest part of the whole encounter.

Spoiler

For such a tough battle, the loot doesn't seem that great. I guess victory is its own reward?

Then it was time for Coryface....
Spoiler

Well, at least he looked dead when they left.

Back to Kirkwall for Fenris' quest, Alone. I had him spare Varania but that screwed up my approval since I wasn't maxed out yet. Reloaded to let him kill her so I would get the QB quest and the reconcile scene. Argh, the things Julian does for love.

Took this one during the qunari attack at the end of Act 2., guarding each other's backs in the fight.

Hmm...I probably wouldn't want to do it until at least 15 or so but that's just me. The werewolves can be tough, especially in the ruin, and if you are going to do the Juggernaut quest along the way, you won't be very successful against the revenants unless you can do a lot of damage and stay alive too. I guess it might depend on your party though, and how they are spec'd? I usually don't even go to the forest until after Redcliffe/Circle/first trip to Denerim, even when playing a Dalish.

Had a funny dream and I think this is one of those  'waking' dreams, the kind you have when you're going to wake up. Cass was in it. I think I had too much DAI.

Anyways, there's one other annoying critter about Thedas; lurkers. I can't meander in the HW on horse with any peace, have to keep dismounting and flatten those beasts.

So I decided to put DAI back in because Jack the Ripper kicked Evie's ass in AC Syndicate.  After getting gutted by him like 10 times I decided I needed a break.  There are only so many times one can take getting stabbed in the kidneys before she concedes defeat and withdraws to strategize.

Gemma and co went to the Exalted Plains and found Vivienne's book.  Also killed Dorian's last Venatori.  Since no one loves my adorable Cadash I made her flirt with Scout Harding.  SCOUT HARDING LOVES HER, DAMN IT ALL!  (I'd ship it, as the kids these days say).  Viv also wants Gemma to kill some white wyvern because reasons.

I think the team is going to do a little dragon hunting.  Then do Adamant.  Taking it slow and we're only level 14 which is kind of neat.  I think by this time I'd be around level 19.. 20?

Anyhow, hope you are all enjoying this first day of 2016!

Inquisitor has hit 20 and I think it's time she does Adamant. Putting it off though. I ended up listening to all three ME soundtracks while considering sequence for the next MEfanfic chapter. Nostalgia. The first ME main theme always hit the mark for me. That and Vigil, that air of adventure, mystery, questions and beyond these two pieces evoked.

So I guess I spoke too soon about no one loving my Cadash.  Apparently Iron Bull loves my Cadash.  That's one hell of a height difference, no?

Sidebar:  After you save the Chargers the best answer to your conversation on the battlements is the flirty answer, IMHO.  And when your inquisitor says it, it doesn't sound remotely flirty to me at all.  But apparently that tipped him over the edge into lurve..  It just seems like, you're still you, Bull is not blatant flirting.  Rather a statement that is glaringly obvious.  He changed a long time ago and had moved on from the Qun without even realizing it.  End Sidebar.

Mind you this is a templar tower.  What kind of sorcery is this???

Also, on Cassandra's book quest, In all of my PTs, Dorian has always walked past and said how terrible the book is.  In this game, Cole walked past and said he read it to her.  I've played this game an embarrassing amount of times and this is the first time I've had a different companion walk past there.  What gives??

It's everyone's favorite rebel mage on the Storm Coast!
