Decided to use spoiler tags because I've just realised some people may want to experience playing in similar way rather than be spoiled through my over-descriptive ways :).

Anyone knows how to up the FPS?

I usually have between 40 - 88 fps but when there are many NPCs my fps drop to 13!

Is unplayable!

Half of the game complaining about the fps drop

And the other half of the game complaining in the cutscenes about my ugly character because Bioware can't make a decent Character Creator

Such a game of the year -.-

Today I kicked Corypheus' ass :D For the third time. And every time I do so I get shivers and think 'AGAIN!' I love it when games have that effect, even after playing them over and over again. So, my current Inquisitor is off to the Winter Palace again for the Trespasser DLC, and in the meantime I'm thinking of what to play next.

My current Dalish PT in Origins is moving at slug pace because I always seem to find some minor thing to obsess over for days before I can continue.

How much do they know about human society? Do the Dalish know about the Circles and apostates?

Why wouldn't they know about Circles and apostates?

DAO - Aneirin escaped from the Circle and lived with the Dalish clan encountered at the Brecilian Outskirts.

DA II - Sabrae clan. Marethari spoke of Templars encouraging Dalish to leave if they're near cities, partly due to suspicion of apostates in the clan.

Aneirin wasn't born among the Dalish. And DA2's examples are hard to trust because learning about templars, Circles and such is inevitable when you're living near Kirkwall.

What platform? I can only advise on PC.

There are a couple of approaches. The most time consuming/tedious option is the one that ultimately gives the best results.

Tedious Option

  1. Make sure you have a save that is outdoors with lots of NPCs and that can easily lead to a short cutscene, like you are at the Crossroads early in the Hinterlands about to talk to Mother Giselle. Or first visit to Redcliffe Village, although there most of the cutscenes are indoors. Redcliffe Village in general is a good FPS test, my rig handles the Hinterlands fine, but takes an FPS hit there.
  2. Change all your Graphics settings to Low/Off. You will probably have to restart the game.
  3. Load the test save. Look around outdoors, try the cutscene. FPS should be maximum. If you still have sub 40 even when all is Low, you need a new driver or new graphics card.
  4. Assuming FPS is good, one-by-one, try increasing each setting and reloading the save to see the improvement. There isn't too much interaction between them, so you can just done them one at a time without going back and adjust other ones down. There is one exception, however. Mesh Quality and Shader Quality seem to be linked in some way. If you push one up high and have a problem with the other, you might have to lower both.
  5. Most settings require restarting the game (it warns you) each time you change it, so this is going to take a very long time. Keep checking FPS and quality. Stop when you have the best quality you can stand with and FPS that is at least 40.

There is a quicker option. Using the same test save as above, the following settings are pretty well known to cause FPS hits, so:

Quick Option, set all of these to Low or lowest option (Off)

  1. Anti-aliasing (multisampling and post processing)
  2. Tesselation
  3. Shader Quality
  4. Shadow Quality
  5. Water Quality
  6. Vegetation Quality

(I'm going by memory here, so some of the names above might not be exact).

Those items are in descending order of impact to FPS, so you can try the first 3 and see how the save looks, then try #4, and so on.

Note: Low Shader Quality is what causes the "plastic hair" look. I think it has to be at least High to get rid of plastic hair.

You know.. I've played DAI more times than is probably healthy.  But I just noticed this.  WHAT THE EVERLOVIN EFF IS THIS STATUARY???  Are these Teventer?  The helmet on the male looks like the god awful ugly Teventer helmet in the game.

Gemma went out of bounds on the Plains...

Still amuses me every time I find it...  It horrified Gemma though.  Despite her history with bears she doesn't think it's very nice to stick spikes through their heads.

What is Morrigan's mirror reflecting, extactly?  Looks forresty.  Doesn't reflect right to be the room it's in and/or the courtyard though...

Did some descent.  Gemma came across not one.. but TWO superb rings of critical chance. Wowsa.  Too bad Gemma is already at 100% critical chance.  All my hits are critical hits!  Wheee!

Malika Cadash discovered the Dwarven Wardens' Tomb under the Western Approach. She was moved to an atypically solemn moment of reverence.

You asked if the Dalish know about  Circles and such and I'm pointing out they would gain second hand / basic information about them from stated examples; Aneirin, etc. If you're asking if the Dalish have a crisp understanding of the Circles inner functions ; rules / restrictions, etc. No idea.

Thank you but I tried all those things and nothing, my pc is not mid range, I can run Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 in ultra with more of 50 fps, i don't know why DA:I work that bad in my PC

The test says I should have 55 stables fps and as minimum 46, but in places like the chantry of Redcliff I even can get 110 fps

I am going to still trying other things, I have mods but I don't think mods that add the schematics of Trespasser, recolor the Skyhold outfit and changes 2 hairstyles get me drop fps ♥

Actually, changes to hair styles could very well drop your FPS, since that involves the Shader. And if its a physics-based hair mod, even more.

Recoloring outfits might also hit FPS, if there were normal map edits or if the texture size or resolution was upgraded. If it's just a same-size texture replacement, then probably not.

Loras got caught in an endless loop of death in the Trespasser DLC. All party members except Dorian had died and Dorian was on top of a ledge and got pushed off by an enemy, only to respawn on top of that same ledge and got pushed off again, repeat x infinity. I had already died 20932 times in that fight so I decided that was a good moment to start a new game (I will get back to Loras when I think of a different strategy). A female human mage who will be romancing Sera (YOU WON'T GET THIS ONE, CULLEN!)

I'd been away for a while, but finally came around to picking up where I left off with my fourth playthrough. I'm playing as a Qunari warrior - first time playing as a warrior too. Been going around cleaning up quests in the Hinterlands, Exalted Plains, and Crestwood as a means of avoiding doing the Wicked Eyes mission. Something about the Orlesian palace quest...I sometimes find it tedious.

So far, I've started all of the companion's inner circle quests. I'm well on my way to flirting it up with Sera this time. After all, she does like Qunari ladies. I think I'm now BFFs with Cassandra and possibly Dorian. I didn't realize it at the time, but after coming back and meeting Stroud in Crestwood, I realized that I made Hawke look like Sam Winchester. :)

This time while in Crestwood, I did some additional exploring under the lake after closing the big rift and found roads and a couple of rooms in the dwarven ruins. I also ran into this strange sight behind a building in New Crestwood.

I discover it isn't the game, is my Window

I always played in Window 8, everything perfect, recentrly I changed to Window 10

Yesterday I played again Witcher 3 with the configuration in Window 8 and was unplayable too, 30-10 fps, god...

Sadly I don't know a **** about PCs but I found the problem ♥

The Dalish do have Arlathvenn. A gathering of all clans every ten years in which they exchange information / gifts and people (Merrill for example, given over to Sabrae clan). End of line to this particular Q thread.

*******

I kind of wish Cass's romance sequence is better paced like Cullen's which is marked for further progress with each major event. The former went by so fast and so easily that nothing more interesting was written after forming a relationship with her.

Toyed with the idea of bringing Sera for this planned trip to Adamant and scared the breeches off her.

I finally made it back to DAI. :D Doing a speedrun to (hopefully) get the Trial of the Fool (to Skyhold by lvl 5) achievement. I booted up Marcus again, so this time he is Marcus the Third. Since this is basically a silly throwaway game due to skipping all the fun stuff, I decided wearing silly armor is the way to go. Well, that and because the dragon armor still makes him look fat. <_<

I think after leaving VR he was lvl 3+ 800 pts. He's been trolling the req officer to get decent "don't need to kill anything" req's and so far has 5 of the 15 power points needed to go get the Templars. Next he will head south to close a couple of rifts and meet with the loonies held up in the fort. There are a few agents to collect while there, and maybe some drakestone too, for another requisition. I never thought I'd ever be yelling at my monitor: stop giving me XP! :P

Mini-update: farming is complete. I've got 16 power points (15 for CotJ and 1 for afterwards). Marcus is still level 3 and has 1190/1500 pts toward lvl 4. I crafted some weapon upgrades but I'm using regular weapons (+dragon maul) and item pack armor. Marcus and Cass are going qunari style, while Varric and Solas are sporting Avvar classic black and white.

My difficulty is set to hard, so wish me luck. :D

Edit for update: getting out of his head and into the Great Hall bumped Marcus to level 4. The others are 50 pts shy still. I tried to avoid all the codex loots but did get the dogma stats (couldn't pass those up!). To be continued tomorrow since I gotta go to bed. <_<
