Took a DAI break to play Life is Strange.  That was a mind trip.  Play it if you're of a mind for that sort of chaos theory stuff. Not really actiony though.  But definitely interesting.  Still need to finish off my dwarfquisitor Gemma.

I traveled to the Dales today. Met an unusual fellow by the name of Fairbanks. Leader of a refugee group. The civil war has spread even to this remote area. The Inquisition was drawn here by Fairbanks calim that he has valuable information on the Red Templars. Information he will only share if we help deal with these "Freemen of the Dales". A militia formed of deserters from the Orliasian army. I'm not fully clear about their stake in the area, but the civilians here are clearly in mortal danger from these men.

The Freemen are not the only danger here. I have seen Giants, Venatori, and even a High Dragon. Glad I left Bull at Skyhold. He's demand we fight all of them. That horn headed ox-man won't be happy until something hits him hard enough to send him flying to back to Seheron.

Let me know what's your final decision in Ep 5. I'm always interested how people jump this way and that. :D

Sam made the mistake of going to Redcliffe. Not because of crazy time rifts or forgetful mages or supremacist cults with an unhealthy interest in him. Oh no. The mistake was getting the mini-quest "Flowers For Senna," because that meant he had to go back to the dreaded bear country of Hafter's Woods.

I learned a few things, however. Did you know that dead squaddies will follow you around if you run away far enough? Oh yes, their little skulls will move to wherever you are, reminding you that you abandoned them to die.

Spoiler

Also, bears teleport. It's true....Blackwall was running away (ahem, to get the bears to follow him so the others could get up again...uh huh, yeah, that's it :P) and just as he thought he was free and clear: Poof! Bear! 12 o'clock! Damn thing appeared out of thin air.

Eventually Blackwall dragged the rest of the party along and got them all to hide in a cave way the fu.... from where they started and then they teleported themselves back to camp.
Spoiler

Only to find, lo, the bears and outlaws had sneakily followed suit and were waiting for them just past the edge of the camp. :o
Spoiler

Time to head back to Haven.

I killed dragon in Crestwood and spent all money I had on windows and horses.
And now I'm going to earn more money for more windows and horses.

Just hanging out in Skyhold trying to figure out how I missed an ocularum in the Hissing Wastes.  I'm not even trying to do the Notes on the Wastes miniquest, though I did complete it by chance last time.  I think it's the one by the Lonely Light, since I'm missing that landmark, too.  Those buzzing flies drive me nuts and I try to finish the Wastes up pretty quickly.

Does anyone remember how to get into the Skyhold vault, you know the one with Scrooge McDuck's hat and scarf in it?  I can't remember, other than that it's in the cellar.  I've completed Scattered in Skyhold, if that makes a difference.

It's been awhile since I last played Origins, Awakening, and simply ran through the series.

I think I'll do so again now that it's been awhile.

Cool.  I just got the 3rd one.  I'll go check it out.

Found it, and guess who showed up to welcome me

What reward?  For the trivia guy?  I've never found him more than twice in one game.  The vault contains nothing lootable, far as I know.  I'll have to look around Skyhold next time I need to unload gear.

Sam update - level 7, NM + trials

Sam left the Hinterlands entirely for a while, to take a break in the Forbidden Oasis. He cleared everything except the level 12 rift (the despair demon in the 2d wave was too much on top of all the bleeping wraiths) and the spider cave (as expected, the miner never spawned). He entered the temple and had enough shards to open door #1 of each element.

Sadly, once done there he had to go back to the Hinterlands, well to Redcliffe. He let the widower know that Senna's grave was cleaned up and decorated with flowers (while omitting the part about the Bears of Doom) and he was well paid by One-Eyed Jimmy for sending Lord Woolsley home safe. Last stop was back at the Crossroads, to officially recruit Corporal Vale as an agent.

Now, he's traveled back to the Woods camp for the moment, and is debating whether he should try to take out the mercs in the fortress (assuming he can get past the Bears of Doom to even get there in one piece) or head to the Storm Coast to see what the Bull's Chargers are all about.

I'm going to finally do it.

I'm going to record and edit all three Dragon Age games into one continuous movie using Bandicam and Windows Movie Maker. I figured out that I an pretty much cut out 80% of Inquisition, keeping only Intro, In Hushed Whispers, Haven, Adamant, MAYBE Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts (might cut it or reduce it somehow, because it's so cheesy at the end), Arbor Wilds and final battle, and Trespasser.

Maya, ex-Carta, now Arcanist Inquisitor, stopped by the stables to check on Blackwall. He was in one of his moods again, and insisted on dragging Maya back to The Storm Coast for "mansplanations". Maya wasn't thrilled about the wet and the cold, not to mention the darkspawn, Hessarians and bears, but if this is what Blackwall needed to find the courage to make a pass, okie-dokie, The Storm Coast it is.

So, naturally, the first thing Maya ran into was a Pride Demon (the one that is really hard to find if you are trying to do the Tempest specialization, but heck, there it was, right on the path to Blackwall's special place.) Peachy. At least things couldn't get much worse ... unless an Elite Bear decided to joint the fun!

Spoiler

Maya wasn't the only one having problems with bears that day. The Hessarians weren't doing much better. At least Maya got to watch instead of being a bear's idea of a mid-afternoon snack.

Spoiler

Turns out the whole excursion to The Storm Coast was so that Blackwall could find an old badge he had lost back in the day. Didn't seem like much, wasn't made out of forged lyrium or fade-touched silverite or anything, but if it made him happy to have it, whatever.

Back home at Skyhold, Maya nearly put a dagger into Blackwall's chest when she found him lurking in the shadows of her balcony. After many apologies and protests and ditherings, Maya finally took control of the situation and forced a clinch. Magic! Definitely worth the wait.

A few days ago, I introduced my older sister to DAO. She isn't a gamer by any means and generally isn't interested in this kinda thing, but the Internet access was down and she was bored.

That said, she loved most of it and played for three hours straight. It was fun to see her react to everything.

Like everyone else, my sister didn't like being the only mute and blank faced person in the game. She also seemed invested enough to form an opinion, saying that Loghain clearly is a traitor when I argued that it is considered to be morally ambiguous.

Anyhow, even though she had fun it seems like DAO isn't the right game for my sister. She has no patience for the dialogue and couldn't care less about stopping to talk to companions at the camp.

My mom is kind of on her death bed right now, and she was never good with computers let alone games. I tried showing her Mass Effect but she didn't even understand how to use a mouse and keyboard to control a character and didn't like it. But I really want her to escape into the complex worlds Bioware created, because personally if I were facing death, that's the only way I'd be able to psychologically cope with it, and it pains me to think someone else isn't going to be able to escape the reality of their doom. So I'm going to edit these games into movies, and try to get her to escape that way.

At least it wasn't a boss bear....I've come across a couple of those in the Storm Coast. Sam has managed to survive to level 8 and added Knockout Powder to his skill set. Finally something to stop a bear in its tracks for a few seconds. And I gave Solas a fire staff instead of ice....that helps too. :)

He appears 3 times with 3 different quiz questions. Answer them correctly and you get a unique item. If you know anything about DA lore then you should know the answers. You just have to keep going to the vault ever time you go back to Skyhold once it's open. He seems to appear randomly. Worth it though.

If you don't have the patients to do the quiz:
