My first post in here ^_^ After a one-year-break I'm somewhat back to Inquisition (while also still playing Mass Effect ) and started my 4th run. This time as a female elf, Rogue with bow. First time ever I play any of the DA games as a bow character. Her name is Freya and she's going to romance Bull.

I already played a bit the past week, recruited all possible members so far and cleared a large portion of the Hinterlands. But now it was time to progress the story a bit.

While exploring the Hinterlands, Freya got to Redcliffe Village, and after she had previously met Fiona in Val Royeaux, decided to check out the mages' offer.

Spoiler

She didn't trust Alexius, but decided to see why his son Felix had sent her a note that said she was in danger, so they made their way to the chantry, meeting a charming mage, but Freya thought it might be some kind of trick and was cautious around him. Iron Bull approved.

Spoiler

Back in Haven, the advisors and her tried to figure out their next step, and since she didn't want to play bait for Alexius's obvious trap, she wanted to get the Templars to help close the Breach. So off to Therinfall Redoubt they were.

Spoiler

Upon finding the Lord Seeker, things went downhill pretty fast. Freya was finding herself in a strange place, as an Envy demon tried to take over. She saw some gruesome things, but then she met someone named Cole, a spirit, and while she was not trusting him initially, he really helped her find the way out.

Spoiler

With her companions she took the fight to the envy demon and gained the Templars' help to close the Breach.

Spoiler

Upon returning to Haven, Cole made an impressive entrance and Freya convinced the others to let him join the Inquisition.

OK so Eldrida just did Cassandra's book quest. In previous playthroughs I'd always done it very soon after arriving at Skyhold, but this time I triggered it both after her spat with Varric and her trip to Caer Bronnach. I'd never had Dorian interject before. I guess previously I didn't have his approval high enough. This time Eldrida has already sorted out his personal quest with his father, killed all his Venatori and done his war table missions.

Spoiler

This remains one of my favourite moments in the whole game.

"Totally worth it..."

Arriving at the Oasis. The only non-rift enemies at this point were lvl 8 hyenas and lvl 12 corrupted spiders. I avoided the spider cave; these ones were in the various tunnels. Harding didn't have much to report on as a result.

Spoiler

The Storm Coast. I decided to recruit Bull because I would miss out on codex entries if I couldn't talk to him (and you can't buy those). Yeah, dumb reason, but I prefer to not miss content. And this way, Sam can eventually get him out of the Qun. :)
Spoiler

Sideshow. At one point the giant flew up into the air and when he landed, he was standing up but non-interactable. The dragon was still there and threw a couple lightning balls our way before flying off. I had to save and reload for the giant to be dead so I could get the loot.

Dwarven warrior playthrough (nightmare with some trials on)...
Went back to Crestwood with Varric, Vivienne and Cole and returned to the fort (again -_-) because I'm a glutton for punishment.

Glad to hear that is sorted, and even gladder to hear that the bandits will respawn if you don't finish the capture! I'll have to remember that the next time I'm in the mood for pwning bandits.

I don't know if this is related, but I spent so much time farming Snoufleur in EdL that all of the loot chests and mineral nodes reset without me having to leave the zone. That's never happened to me before. I did have a total party wipe trying to close a rift -- I wonder if that counts as a zone reset?

Sam is getting closer to picking a side. He cleared the Storm Coast (including the spider cave rift) except for the part that only opens up later. He cleared the Fallow Mire except for stuff behind the perk door (I took extra potion slot and extra health potions instead of Deft Hands since I am playing on NM) but he'll go back for that later. He also closed the 3 remaining rifts in the Hinterlands (2 in Hafter's Woods and the one over the river) and cleared the Carta out of Valammar.

So, probably just one more trip to the Oasis to open more temple doors and close the last rift there, and then it will be time to go get the Templars. Normally I side with mages but since I completely skipped anything about Calpernia last time, I feel the need to do that sequence of quests again, especially after her appearance in the Magekiller #2 comic.

Party is currently level 9 but will hopefully make it to 10 by the end of CotJ.

The name is Hawke, Sahara Hawke. Its a hot name for a hot looking person as you will learn by reading my story. I've just received a letter from Varric asking to meet him at a place called Skyhold. Not sure what this is about, but I will soon find out. For the time being, I want to write what happened with me from the time I left my home to now.

In a galaxy far, far, even further away.... Wait a minute. Mmmm. That doesn't sound right

Its starts in Lothering. My mother, brother, sister and I were running from the darkspawn. For those who don't know, I'm a mage. Well that's what they refer me to being. I rather call myself a sorceress. I don't use blood magic. That's only for the weak and pathetic. I acquire my talents through more 'evil' means.

We decide to head to Kirkwall. My mother grew up there and still has family. Ok. Lets go. I see a man and woman fighting the uglies. Owww. That had to hurt. The guy is wounded

Templar: Its an apostate

me: Apostate? Me? No. I am a human and so is my sister

Templar: I see you're trying to be funny

me: I see it as me being sarcastic, and if you continue with the crap, it may get worse.

redhead: Wesley. They helped us. Let it go. My name is Aveline. This is my husband, Ser Wesley. If we work together, we can avoid the darkspawn. I suggest going south would be best.

me: Fine. I'm watching you templar.

Why is the ground shaking? What the f... Oh no. BETHANY! KILL. KILL. DIE.DIE. The big horned thing is dead. I'm at a loss. My sister is dead. My mother is...is....We have to get moving otherwise we're dead. Here they come. I kill them all. But they keep coming

ROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! Oh crap. Looks like I'm going to be roasted by a dragon. Hey look at that. Its killing the darkspawn. Cool. Now there's something you don't see everyday. The dragon is now a woman. Not bad. She will help us if I deliver something for her. Ok.

Aveline husband is messed up. She kills him. I would want someone to kill me if that corruption was in my body. Its a sad day.

For two weeks we sail towards Kirkwall.

At last. Kirkwall. I'm not impressed. Lets talk with that guard over there. He will find our uncle. That's my uncle. Wow. He and my mother are related? Good thing my mother got the good looking traits. hahaha. There's no coin. WHAT? Ok. I need to work with someone for a year. Ok. I'll work with the mercenary. He wants me to kill that guy over there. Ha. Too easy. I cast a fireball on the guy and poof, he's dead. He's now a pile of ashes. hahahaha

Our year is up and we're trying to get on the expedition to the deeproads. Who's this little twirp? A dwarf calling himself Varric? He wants to help me be a partner. I only need 50 sovereigns. If I sell myself out to every guy or woman I see, I could have the coin before night time. Lets hold that thought for now and come up with a better idea.

I head back to Gamlen's home. What a dump. For now I will get some rest. I will go to the Hanging Man later. Varric has some information that could be useful

Headed out to the Stormy Coast today. There is a band of warriors out here that could be beneficial to the Inquisition. I don't really have the men to spare to patrol this area, but if I can broker a deal with the leader, I may be able to hire them on as contractors. Shouldn't be a problem. Took Cassandra along. She doesn't get out enough. Was suppose to be an easy stroll on the beach to the militia camp... until we come across a Dragon and Giant thrashing around. Sera jumped on my back "We can watch right? Tell me we can watch." There aren't any Civiliians out here so... Oversized Death match continue. Not as relaxing as I was hoping for, but it was a sight to see.

(later)

So the Militia was more of a Bandit group. Their leader was... unreasonable. And as I often say when entering negotiations, "If you're reasonable then we cam all get what we need and no one has to get hurt. If you're not reasonable, it's not my fault if everyone gets hurt." A statement that annoys Josephine to no end. I dueled the leader and the others of the group declared me their new leader. A slight twist to what I had planned, but the outcome was ultimately the same.... Now where did that dragon fly off to?

I'm trying to decide what I'm going to play next. Either a Loras Tyrell based dude, or a rough looking guy with red hair and an awesome beard. Only doing one playthrough because both will be Templars and romancing Dorian. I only need to decide what I want him to look like... Loras Tyrell or Hairy Harry.

Edric decided to return to the Crestwood rift to try out these new weapons. It didn't work  as everyone died again. Edric's starting to think that saving Crestwood village is a lost cause. (I'm still going to persevere with the Nightmare difficulty and the trials though. It just means that it's going to take me ages to complete this playthrough at this rate :D)

Edit: After a few hours break, I managed to finally close the rift on the first attempt. So the clouds hanging over Crestwood have dispersed and the village is finally saved. I didn't change any of my tactics but I was very lucky :D.

It's a tough battle, but you can increase the odds in your favor by having as much Dispel/Spell Purge as possible in the party, to close ruptures before demons can emerge. I had two mages and Cass and being able to cut their numbers down by at least 3 every wave but the first was a huge help.

True enough. I usually only have two mages if I am one though. Have to remember to give Cass Spell Purge asap. :D

Sam update: made it to Therinfal and he's just about to meet Lord Seeker Envy. Gotta take a break to watch X-Files though.

I meet with Varric in the Hanged Man. Judging by the smell, the body was never removed. He mentions a Grey Warden being in Kirkwall and might have maps to the deeproads. Ok. Sounds like a plan. Lets see the Warden.  As I leave the bar, I receive a lot of whistling direct at me. Its good to be me.

Is that the Warden? Its very noble of him to help the folks with health problems. He does have maps to the deeproads, but he wants me to help rescue his friend. Hmmm. Ok. I don't want to deal with templars, if I don't have to. I'll meet you later.

The streets are empty. What's that? A bunch of baddies want to fight. hahaha. Silly little punks. Fighting is for those who know how to fight. I killed them all without breaking a sweat. When I get back to Gamlens', I will have to work on new spells to make killing the baddies more fun. hahahaha

There's the Warden. We head into the Chantry. That's his friend Karl and....wait a minute. Templars. Crap. What the he.... The Warden is glowing. What crap is this? After the Templars are dealt with, Anders kills his buddy who was made tranquill. I'm more interested in this glowing crap.

Anders tells me he merged with a spirit of justice. That explains it. Yeah. What an idiot. Just give me the maps. He does.

I head back to the Hanged Man when I see a fight. Yes. A woman beats up those guys. I think they lost because they couldn't take their eyes off her well-ampled busom. Her name is Isabela. We eye each other. We scan each other. Mmmm. This could be interesting. She mentions she's been with the Hero of Fereldon. Impressive.  Plus 1 for her. She wants my help. Sure.

I meet with her late at night, and guess what happens? Yeah. The baddies show up showing their skills at how to die. The pirate girl holds her own. Nice. That could come in handy, especailly with the spell I brewed the night before.

We head into the cahntry. I get the feeling I've done this before. After dealing with the baddies, I ask her about a relic and some guy name Cast...Cast. Ah who cares?

Now that she's part of my team, lets try out my new spell. Here we go. Volunteers. As the baddies run towards us, I use the ice slide spell. I cover the ground with ice while Isabela slides along slicing the necks of the baddies. Excellent. That worked perfectly. The pirate has a big smile on her face, She liked that. That's what you call teamwork. I turn around to see Varric and Carver standing with their mouths wide open. They act like they've seen that before. Wait till they see the new fire spell I've been brewing. It will be hot in Kirkwall. hahahaha. Not only do I have a hot name, a hot body, but I have a hot sense of humor. hahaha.

Isabela suggest we go to the Hanged Man for a drink.  I lead the way knowing she has her eye fixated on my backside. That's fine. It is a nice looking backside.

I finally completed the trivia challenge.  It wasn't that I didn't know the lore, I just never thought that the trivia guy stayed in the same place.  Learn something new every day....  Ahem.  Thanks!

Here's Bull with his spoon, although I did resign it to storage since I'm really in need of the best weapon I can get for Bull.  The warriors take up slack for me being terrible at combat.

XnZRavj.png

So now where have I found Lord Trifles?  The vault this time, my bedroom closet, second cell on the left in the dungeon, the top floor of the mage/templar tower, the side pen of the stables, and the gatehouse by Cullen's office, so far.  Anyone have any other interesting places?

Also, I've seen references to harvesting veil quartz where rifts were in the Frostback Basin, and found some a time or 2 ago that I couldn't interact with.  In case I see some again, is there anything you can do to collect it?

You found him in way more places than I ever have! The optional mage/templar tower? Wow. Never would have thought to look there. I don't think I've ever been there before customizing it.

I haven't seen him at all this PT yet. I refuse to search for him, I already waste too much time running around Skyhold talking to my peeps. If I run into him, great. He had better stay out of my closet, though ...

When you close rifts in the Basin, veil quartz is part of the loot left behind. If you don't take everything, then when you leave the area and come back, the other stuff regenerates. If you are talking about the 3 nodes of veil quartz that are available, you can only interact with those if you have veilfire with you. Those don't regenerate, however. One is in the swamp, around to the right from the torch next to the prison; one is in a giant tree stump in the middle of the map, that you have to jump down to from the path above it; and one is above the lair of the fade-touched lurker....getting to it involves a lot of jumping (and reloading, in my case).

Nope. You just have to find Lord Trifles 3 times and answer his questions correctly.

Lord Trifles. I saw this odd guy standing at the stables in one PT, spoke to him and answered  a question. It then occurred to me he's the Q&A guy the player is supposed to search for three times. I never bothered because I don't think his rewards are interesting. :D

This PT, Eldrida found him... Er... In the wall at the foot of the staircase that leads up from the main hall to Vivienne's balcony. Glitch-tastic!
