So, the only specializations I haven't played yet are Artificer (Rogue), Templar (Warrior) and Necromancer (Mage). Any suggestions on which to play as? I'm leaning towards Necromancer, but Dorian is a regular tag along in most of my runs. Same goes for Cassandra.

The difficulty increases the deeper into Descent you go. Technically, Descent scales to your level, but I wouldn't want to do the second half below XP level 17 or so. I wouldn't do the second half until after JoH, or at least until the part of it where you get the Aegis of the Rift ability. BTW, minimum recommended level for JoH is 20.
I finished Descent with lvl13 2H Champion and crappy team (really, that pt I didn't care about gear for my team). The other time I finished it with lvl... I think Sacha was lvl15 that time... yes, lvl15 DW Tempest and some trials on - Even Ground, Walk Softly, Travel Light and Grizzly End (which, as you can imagine, didn't change much in Descent).
That was fun, I swear.
No, seriously, it was fun.

I liked artificer as an archer and templar (the spell purge ability rocks), but necromancer left me flat. I don't do the whole dying on purpose thing, though, and that's where that tree shines.
This time I'm taking Cole around wherever I go, and wow, with his starting armor, he's really squishy. He went through nearly every potion doing one darkspawn tunnel. I've got him back at skyhold so I can craft him some decent armor or something, since he just doesn't handle up close and personal with bruisers well at all, and we're on our way to the Fallow Mire. The undead there are a piece of cake, but the last battle with the Avaar will destroy him if I don't do something.

He's totally different companion with something with Guard on Hit. Also, new Poisoned Weapons upgrade from Trespasser (Leeching Poison) raises his survivability. That's at least what I do to keep him alive long enough for him to be useful.

I thought about playing Artificer as a dual dagger instead of archer. Templar, yeah, spell purge is awesome.

Fran Hawke
- killed Huon and Eveline. Emile went back to the templars with a smile
- someone has been kidnapped
- if Meredith and Orsino got a hotel room, everything would be alright
- I support Meredith
- Orsino gained some weight
- I like your sword Meredith
So ends Hawke's story. Or is it the end? hahaha

Aderyn travelled to the Fallow Mire today and rescued the Inquisition soldiers from the Avvar, who are now ex Avvar, apart from the awesome Sky Watcher, who was recruited into service.
I'm trying this playthrough with Travel Light turned on, the one that takes away supply caches. Aderyn just managed it, although it's not as daunting as it sounds with decent gear, regen potions, guard and barrier. I got a couple of really good drops from the special shipments chest, a critical chain amulet and purple Elgar'nan Enaste bow - these really helped on this mission. I don't remember getting anything this good this early on my last playthrough. She just needs to make it through IYHSB (not too confident there on nightmare) and I think she'll be ok without caches for the rest of the game, with the exception of challenging DLC moments.

Not quite like a reaver, but one of the abilities brings you back to life for 10 seconds after you fall down, and invulnerable. I explain it poorly, but that's the idea. You can still be revived afterward, but can't be healed during those 10 seconds. Not my cuppa, but others say it makes the specialization very powerful.

That's the Simulacrum passive, it has one positive thing, when you are a spirit, you can rezz yourself with Revival.
You'll get rezzed as soon as your spirit dies.

Janet will be romancing Iron Bull and there's a chance finances may support getting dlc next month. I read the Trespasser spoilers and wonder whether I should get that first or Descent. Any input?
I read there's no level recommendation for Descent, other than to be at Skyhold. That's not too helpful, since the same can be said for JoH, and I never start that until after I do the Hissing Wastes. Is there a point, story-wise, where it makes more sense to do it, such as after Red Templars on the Coast and/or is there a big increase in difficulty like for JoH (I'm a terrible player)?
In my last game I played Descent once the RT mission on the coast unlocked, so I was probably lvl 16 or 17 when starting it. For me it fits better during the main story as opposed to afterwards like JoH since a loss of lyrium supply could be catastrophic to the Inquisition (especially if you brought the Templars on board). However, the enemies are tough, and get tougher the further you go, so if you haven't played it before you might want to wait until you are a higher level than that. There is a multi-wave no-saves allowed battle, which is probably the most difficult sequence. The bolters further in are the nastiest individual enemies since they can one-shot you.
If you need to choose between getting Trespasser or Descent, though, go with Trespasser. ![]()

I am currently playing DW artificer and enjoying the heck out of dropping mines everywhere. Such pretty explosions, and sending enemies sky-high never gets old.
Honestly, Varric is too hung up on Bianca to artificer correctly. ![]()

Kiri finally finished the Descent.

Now's the question if I should send her to the Exalted Plains, to finish the side quests there, or enable Rest Easy and go to Emprise du Lion. (I finally want to get Ardent Blossom for her, but for that I need to capture Suledin Keep first
)

Had some good timing help out with my RPing today. ![]()
Sam made a quick jaunt to the swamps to get the snowy heart for Vivienne, gave it to her, then went with her to see Bastien. Seeing her sorrow over his loss made him think about what it would be like to lose Josephine, and he didn't like that feeling. So, after getting back to Skyhold, his first stop was to go spend some time with her.
Only to be greeted with the pronouncement that she was now engaged.
![]()
He talked with her some more and learned that one way to get this Lord Otranto guy to back off was to challenge him to a duel. Josie was horrified by this idea, but Sam was determined. So, he stomped off to the war table to get it set up, only to see "busy" as an option. ![]()
He decided to head back to the Hinterlands to take his frustrations out on some demons (and a bear, outlaws, and a few Venatori who also showed up). When he got back, everyone was still "busy" so he [skipped time ahead
] to unbusy them. He then ordered Cullen to issue the challenge.
Speculation about Solas' quest, "Measuring the Veil." Did he use this as a test to see if his artifacts could in fact be used to bring down the veil? If so, it seems to have worked, since that ginormous rift appeared where none had been before. Doesn't it seem odd that new rifts would appear with the Breach closed? Unless they had some help? Hmmm.....
Now I'm off to see if Cullen's done his job yet.....

So, over the weekend I did Bull's Demands of the Qun mission. I didn't recall it ever being that difficult, so I decided to bring some folks I hadn't used much just to get them out of Skyhold for a change. So, along with Bull I brought Vivienne and Sera. Without upgrading their gear. Now, keep in mind I'm playing on NM and I have enemies upgraded with Walk Softly and Even Ground.
First off, there were more enemies than I remembered dealing with before. Ahead of the main camp where you send the signal, there were two places where Venatori were holding up. One group of 4 fighters (all promoted, using shields, and sporting full guard) and further on a group of 3, also promoted. I made the mistake of taking on the 4 fighters, since that's the group I found first. The result? Not so good. ![]()
In this state I still had to deal with the group of 3. I was so frazzled by the time I finished them off, I couldn't figure out why the mission wasn't moving along, and then I saw the final group.
I made two attempts with this party, then said screw it, and brought my A team of Dorian and Solas. Bull still face-planted a couple of times but that's normal for him.
When it came time for the cutscene, I got the no-Gatt bug so Bull and Sam were talking to no one. And since Sam had already told Gatt exactly what he thought of the Qun, that was ok with me.
Back at Skyhold, all is well with the Chargers.

I swear I did not do any of this on purpose. It was all completely dumb luck. Some of the craziest yet legit things I've ever seen, and by some miracle I was recording video. And all happened during the same WEWH run (#3 was a reload from save after #1, well ... you'll see why). Enjoy!

No, but in DA:I I collected shards, so many boring shards in the stormcoast. I really dislike the stormcoast terrain gameplay wise, it's so hard to see where you can go up and where you can't. Visually it is a master piece tho.

When you're in spirit form your body lies somewhere on the battlefield. If you use Revival on that body, you should be able to do that.
Because of that Dorian gets Revival in all my games.

I just started a playthrough with my canon warden-quizzy after not playing for a long time (Amell, former grey warden now Inquisitor, lots of headcanons going on here). I'm starting to appreciate dai more than I used to and getting pointlessly sad about the dumb egg.

I know the chance of having the Inquisitor come back as main character for the next Dragon Age is slim, but I still hope it happens.

Ran around Skyhold and then went to the Temple of Dirthamen. Still love that place even if I get turned around more often than not and the stupid arcane horrors kill all my party at least once. Well, except Sam this time - he did fine.
The battle against the poor ol' Highest One was probably one of the easiest fights ever. He never even got to fly away up to the stairs next to the loot door.
I need to upload my WEWH pics as well, and also ones from the duel for Josephine's affection. I actually played through that again today and discovered that if you take the "secrets" dialogue option when Josie brings up the duel, then you get a second WT op for Leliana to dig up dirt on Otranto. Using this dialogue option during the duel results in being able to draw first blood against him right before Josie shows up. Miraculously, the bleeding stops and his sleeve has mended itself while the cutscene plays out. ![]()
I also spent all but 15 gold buying influence after netting the 15% discount perk.
