I tried to defeat Gurd about 5 times on nightmare but it wasn't happening because I went in unprepared. So I turned down the difficulty from nightmare to hard and Gurd was defeated in the first go
. Edric met the previous Inquisitor and he was surprised he's still alive. Ameridan unbound a dragon of an Avvar God and died in the process. The Inquisitor's 800 year task of defeating the dragon god was finally complete. The Hakkon spirit was released. Returned to the Avvar hold to judge Storvacker. Storvacker was charged with being allowed to get itself caught by the Hakkonites. This was a serious charge so Edric ruled the bear isn't allowed to have any treats for a week. Sunhair said the bear will have to cut back on the honey cakes
. The Inquisitor told Kendrick about the last Inquisitor being an elf before leaving the area.
Corypheus had been unchecked for too long and he should've found an eluvian by now. The Inquisitor went to the Arbor Wilds. He told his advisors to work together to stop his progress. The advisors agreed. I had to laugh when the dramatic music played and then shows Josephine's intense letter writing (she must've wrote a snotty letter to Corypheus with humiliating insults
). Edric made his way to the Arbor Wilds where he met the Orlesian empress. The unfamiliar environment has made Celene a bit delusional because she thinks Gaspard was alive (he was beheaded). Performed the rituals in the temple to show some respect to other cultures. The consequence of this was earning Abelas's trust. Samson still managed to get ahead of Edric but he didn't anticipate the armour breaking tactic. Abelas decided to leave the temple and Morrigan took the opportunity to take a drink.
Teleported to Skyhold, the first task was to judge Samson. He was sent to Kirkwall and it will be there where he faces judgment. Edric said Kirkwall will probably want vengeance for the loss of their Champion. The Inquisitor had a brief chat with Leliana and was told that he doesn't support her Divine candidacy. Went through the eluvian (again) and this time the portal led to the fade. Morrigan was searching for her son and they found him with Flemeth. The Inquisitor could sense Morrigan's heartbreak and he remembered the help she's given so far. So he tried to attack Flemeth so Morrigan could escape with her son. This didn't happen though because Morrigan deflected the attack. Flemeth ended up taking the old soul of the kid and left. Morrigan now had the power and knowledge to stop Corypheus.
Final encounter with Corypheus was where it all started at the Temple Of Sacred Ashes. Corypheus made one last desperate act of reopening the breach. The Inquisitor brought along Cassandra, Varric and Solas because they were the ones from the start. So their journey has come full circle. Edric's Andrastian faith has returned at this point and makes this known to Corypheus by saying "I'm the Maker's chosen". The Inquisitor closed the breach (again) and ripped apart the ancient magister with the orb power.
The celebration party was a good indicator of what everyone was planning to do now that the chaos has ended. Blackwall still has a frosty relationship with the Inquisitor. He said "even though you never forgave me for what I did, I thank you anyway". Varric is going to focus on helping people in the Free Marches. Iron Bull said he will probably report back to the Ben Hassrath. Cole and Sera said they will still hang around the Inquisition. Dorian mentioned he will eventually go to Tevinter but will be staying around because Iron Bull might be staying as well. Vivienne is focused on organising the Loyalist mages. The celebration finished when Edric and Cassandra "stole a moment" together by going to the bedroom where they both stood on the balcony looking over the horizon
.
The epilogue slides shown include: Celene as the leader of Orlais having a strong alliance with the Inquisition. The southern Grey Wardens rebuilding their Order and reputation but they also severed their ties to Weisshaupt. This tension could lead to a Warden civil war. Loghain's whereabouts are unknown but he'll probably show up further down the line battling the odds like usual. Hardened Leliana ended up as Divine (Edric is slightly unnerved by this). She ends the Circle system and opens the priesthood to other races. Her reign isn't all positive though as she responds violently to any dissenting voices. The free mages now can choose to live a free life or join the College Of Enchanters. The Inquisition is based on military might and the fear of the Inquisition army is the source of it's power.
Two years pass. An Exalted Council is called to say what will happen to the Inquisition. The Inquisitor is thinking about disbanding the organisation as he'd rather not deal with politics and problems as the head of the group. But before such a monumental announcement, he had a chance to catch up with everyone on the Winter Palace grounds. Edric and Josephine spent the night at the opera. He didn't have a clue what was going on but he was happy to see Josephine relaxed. Had a chat with Viscount Varric who was feeling extra generous while speaking with an old friend. Varric gave Edric the title of 'comte', a seat in the Merchants Guild and a key to the city as well. Cole found someone to spend time with. He must've been in high spirits when they met and enjoyed her songs. The Inquisitor then spent the day pranking nobles with Sera. They both pelted nobles with food which looked like cream pies
. Sera offered Edric a chance to join the Jennies but he declined. He told Sera that he can be a friend but not a Jenny. Cassandra talked about marriage and proposals which turned out to be a Varric joke. Edric said "maybe we should get married" but Cassandra said it may be better to wait. The Wardens found out about Blackwall's lie so he now goes by Rainier. Edric didn't get a friendship scene with Blackwall and their relationship is still frosty (after two years). Edric asked him "why are you here? I thought you weren't too fond of me". Blackwall replied "there are others in the Inquisition besides one person" (Ouch!). Went to see Vivienne next and she offered the spa day
. I didn't think I would have a high enough approval for this so it was a pleasant surprise. Dorian said he is going back to Tevinter and he'll be gone permanently. He gave Edric a sending crystal so now they can gossip across the borders.
The Exalted Council began where the Orlesian/Ferelden representatives were waiting. Teagan was the Ferelden representative and he didn't age well. I wish Isolde was somewhere in the palace to make a 'who is this man?' reference just for the nostalgia. Teagan didn't appreciate the Inquisitor taking Caer Bronach (You have no idea how hard this was Teagan!). The Divine likes to get in the thick of things because she arranged to meet in front of a Qunari corpse. Edric went through an eluvian which led to some more elven ruins. He encountered some spirit sentinels and tried to persuade them not to attack. Edric diplomatically shouted "we mean you know harm" to these spirits and the rest of the group must've face palmed at his naiveté. The spirits didn't care and attacked anyway. Later on, the Inquisitor was attacked by hostile Qunari. This was really strange when they're in an alliance with the Inquisition. The investigation eventually led to the Deep Roads and Cassandra was surprised to be in a cave again but she's happy to be anywhere with the Inquisitor
. Vivienne commented on how odd Cassandra's timing was to be romantic in a cave. Edric stopped the Qunari lyrium supply which will hopefully deter a Southern invasion. He had words with the leader of the Qunari named Viddasala. He attempted to diplomatically speak to her as well by yelling "Let's talk!" and again the companions must've though 'really'. The mark is affecting the Inquisitor and it's becoming more unstable. The Inquisitor is fearing death and announced this to his advisors in dramatic fashion. "I thought it was fine... I don't want to die, not knowing the world still needed me"
On the way to the final confrontation with Viddasala, Iron Bull stayed loyal to the Qun by betraying the Inquisitor. Iron Bull met a similar fate to his Chargers as he died for what he believed in. Next up was a dragon, the Inquisitor freed the dragon. Viddasala said Solas is an agent of the Dread Wolf and Edric will need to get to him to heal the mark. Solas wasn't an agent but the Dread Wolf himself. Solas plans to save the elven people by watching the world die. The Inquisition will try to convince Solas of giving up his plan (or 'redeem him'). Solas's last action was to save the Inquisitor by removing the mark. The Council resumed and the Inquisitor announced the Inquisition must end (the teary icon farewell). He said "Our time is done... the Inquisition is disbanded". Edric has seen organisations such as Seekers, Templars, Wardens and Mages all be susceptible to corruption and he doesn't want the Inquisition to fall in a similar way.
The final slides show: The Qunari alliance with the Inquisition has transferred to Divine Leliana and the Chantry. The Qunari have asked for assistance against Tevinter and Leliana hasn't replied yet. Cassandra and Edric have found a way to keep their romance going and they get together whenever they can
. Vivienne has created a new circle which can offer some competition to the College Of Enchanters. Leliana as Divine has reshaped the Chantry. One of her first acts was to restore the Canticle of Shartan. She also continues to swiftly deal with rebellions. Sera continues with her Red Jenny activities and she sometimes helps the retired Inquisitor as well. Varric returned to Kirkwall. Iron Bull is dead and his reputation has affected Tal Vashoth mercenaries in the south as they are looked on with suspicion. Cullen retired to Ferelden and set up a sanctuary for former Templars to help with lyrium addiction. Dorian returned to Tevinter and still keeps in touch with the Inquisitor by crystal messaging. Rainier decided to officially join the wardens for good. He's a rare sight nowadays but always does good deeds. Josephine returned to Antiva. Cole and Maryden are on the road together performing a duet.
The final scene is Edric hoping to find Solas. Leliana says Solas knows how the Inquisition thinks and he replied then "we find people who he doesn't know". He looks at a Tevinter map and this is probably the next destination where he will travel.
This is the first time playing a dwarf and it's probably one of my favourite playthroughs.
This playthrough has taken 106 hours altogether.
