Getting the hang of standing still. Yes, I'm on the mage stage in DDDA. What I've seen so far . . .
What's the similarity between the mages of DAI and DDDA? Well, both have the basic fire, ice, barrier spells. Fire barrage, calling down boulders from the sky, creating walls of fire and ice.
What's the difference between the two? No spirit magic in DDDA. The mage can melee with the staff. I haven't figure out why the spell set into the staff would suddenly turn into 'guided missiles', it's usually line up shots. But after I do a high magic skill, the guided missiles will pop up. It could be a spell set by a pawn tho.
There's some sort of lightning lash / whip. It's akin to that lashing spell the elven warrior mage used in the ESO trailer. It can't hook on but it can toss the mobs off their feet. If you get interrupted, lightning will strike on the mob that caused it.
In DAI, if a mage jumps off a ledge high enough, you get landing dmg or die. In DDDA, if you've trained the skill, you float to the ground, leaving the mob stuck at the edge. Oh they can path to you but that delay buys time. I'm more than happy to blast them off though. ![]()
Because I ran the PC through the fighter, strider and mystic knight stages, she stood up very well against physical attacks. The DDDA class system is pretty good, BW ought to look into it.
