Not DA:I related but I wanted to replay the last act of DA2 with my s+s warrior who romanced Fenris. Forgot that I needed to absolutely scrounge for every last rivalry point to get to his "Questioning Beliefs" quest. Didn't make it and now I remember why I hated the friendship/rivalry system.

That was annoying, I definitely prefer Inquisition's system. It felt like in DA2 you had to be really careful sometimes about the party members and how to maximize their friendship/rivalry. I remember in my first playthrough I almost didn't max Merril's friendship and thus wouldn't have been able to do the romance.

I confess that in my first playthrough I was convinced that she was dead for that very reason. I was quite surprised to see her standing there looking only slightly the worse for wear after Corypheus was defeated.

We could only hope.... At least she doesn't bother coming if she didn't drink from the Well. She also has no reason to go to the altar if she didn't drink but the devs decided to make her mandatory anyway for.....reasons. <_<

Help me out folks....I need a new game to play that will grab my attention :D but not lead to obsessive behavior a la DA or ME. I tried out Dishonored for not quite an hour and wasn't too happy with it (don't like 1st person view and the pc isn't voiced). Also, I suck at the combat even in easy mode. Any other ideas?

Edit: ok to pm me so to not derail the thread. :)

Can't remember, are you on PC, or console?

If you are on PC, I should mention that Steam has a sale on Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, right now. (and no....this has nothing to do with trying to get more people to purchase and trade pawns with me. nuh-uh. )

It is a console port (originally available on the PS3 and Xbox360). It looks and runs better than the console versions, and even has a few mods available on the Nexus. The "story" and NPC's are a little on the silly side (okay...maybe a lot on the silly side) and the so-called affinity system is seriously cracked. But! the gameplay is amazingly fun, and fantastic loot. Plus, the CC is quite nice (considering the game's age), and you get to make your own follower. PLUS your follower (Pawn) can be rented out by others, and you in turn can rent two more pawns, to make an adventuring party of four. Lots of freedom with vocations and builds, as well.

Just a suggestion though...nothing more.

;)

**EDIT**
Woops...saw your edit, after I posted. If at all interested and have any questions, feel free to PM me. :)

Natalia mark 2.0 cleared the Emerald Graves except the Knight's Tomb, because Wicked Eyes Wicked Hearts isn't done yet. Also, Greater Minstral and Visominer high dragons were slain much to Bull's ecstasy.

Right now, the lady Inquisitor, Cassandra, Dorian and Vivienne are in Emprise du Lion steamrolling through red templars and rescuing the townspeople in Sarhnia's Quarry. Hehe... I love Mark of Death... Mark an enemy, throw hidden blades and detonate! Dragons and other tough baddies don't stand a chance B)

We can keep it on topic, no sweat. Just use this handy-dandy template: What I should have been doing in DAI today, but didn't, because I was playing (insert name of game suggestion here) instead, was ... ;)

Let's start with what not to play: Bloodborne, Dark Souls (any version), Demon Souls, Fallout 4. All require fighting.

Are you interested in Myst-style puzzle games? You can try Witness. No fighting in that. Portal is another puzzle game, but a little more action-oriented.

How about sandbox games? I wasted kilohours just cruising/flying around Saints Row 3, maybe did two missions in the main quest then never went back. Non-quest fighting can be avoided just by running/driving away. Same with Just Cause 2 and Watch_Dogs. All are older games that should be really cheap on Steam.

How about the original Mirror's Edge? No fighting, but a lot of timed jumping.

Oh, there's also Elite Dangerous, if you like flying a space ship and trading goods. You may get attacked by pirates, but you might be able to minimize fighting.

I realized meshes and textures in triple-A games are complicated and I need to study 3Ds Max tutorials before I start modding them.

Omg so excited holy sh*

I finally got an idea of how textures wrap around meshes and UVW maps. Also, I found all the texture DDS files for the mesh I'm working on by navigating the mesh package trees in DAI Modding Tools. And also, I successfully downloaded and installed the DDS plug-ins on photoshop AND THEY OPENED IN PHOTOSHOP HNNNGGG

This is like an amazing achievement for me. I didn't know any of these things.

It would have been better if all the relationship points were cumulative and whichever you had more of determined the "flavor" of the relationship. It's weird, I seem to get to 100% friendship with Anders and Varric whether I like it or not but always struggle with Fenris, Merrill, and Isabela.

Those are strictly for people who just like to loot / craft better, good-looking gear, pardon me, cool ass- kicking looking gear (and brag) and fight all kinds of mobs, with just the barest narrative in the game.  I watched a Dark Souls III stream earlier and was bored to h***. It's endless running to various places / dungeons, killing mobs (that respawn so players can farm them for loot) and bosses. I think there's a goal, saving some cursed somethings to put back on their thrones...whatever

@ Melbella, Other games. Better to look for choice and consequences if you like stories. Life Is Strange is good in chars and narrative. I recently also gave visual novels a try. I finished Cinders and Queen at Arms last month. It's like reading stories with beautiful images but your actions / decisions decide the ending and romances. There're also some with action incorporated, I think one is anime, but I haven't tried it yet.

on DAI, anybody care to guess where is this waterfall? :D I know, it's kind of dumb when they all look somewhat alike.

I actually love the game, flaws and all. Originally bought it on the PS3, then the 360 (vanilla versions). When Dark Arisen came out, I bought for both. And finally, purchased yet again on the PC. Sure, the game - like many games - isn't exactly perfect, but for my tastes and preferences, I adore it nonetheless. Have no regrets buying all those copies (and this from someone who only purchases a couple of games a year, at best). I met a number of hilarious DDDA gamers on this very forum (in the old off-topic lobby), and we had a blast sharing crazy screenshots, making up ridiculous stories for our Arisen's and Pawns (considering how lacking the game is on "story"), and simply making each other laugh. In fact we still do, at vroom-vroom's forum that he made after the Lobby was closed on the BSN. ;)

Like I said....no regrets.

As for DAI, tonight I finished up most of JoH with Samhal. I originally thought I was much further along in JoH, last time I played him....but apparently I was wrong. *shrug* No matter, had fun finishing up the side quests, and getting a crapton of loot/materials. Finally called it quits for the night, when I saw it was after 1am (why am I still up??? ) Tomorrow, I will be taking on Gurd and the mighty Hakkon Wintersbreath. Okay...Gurd is much mightier to me, than Hakkon (dragon) is. lol!

Onward and upward!

Hey! You want my canon warden Athelstan to lose the love of his life and Kieran to lose his mother? You are cruel and heartless. ;)

Have you played the Tomb Raider reboot? A strong story and a much less objectified Lara who develops from scared to badass as the game goes on, third person view and not just combat but puzzles too. I haven't played the latest installment yet but I intend to.

From a few years ago, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is good. It's first person but it has strong story and character interaction which is reminiscent of BioWare games. Also you can play it sneakily with non-lethal weapons which I find fun.

Both games have a fixed protagonist which cuts down on the obsessive replaying factor, at least for me...

RotTR is continuing the trend. I find the sequel a whole lot more fluid and easier to play without the tear-my-hair-out factors that appeared in the first. :P :D The story is predictable albeit with an interesting bob-in-the-face moment most wouldn't see coming but Lara is continuing to learn and grow, that's a plus. And oh yes, more tomb raiding.

Yeah... Some of the QTEs were a bit annoying in the first one. Probably my main problem with that game, but not enough to stop me recommending it.

I always like the cleanse the palate with Assassin's Creed.  Syndicate is on both PC and console and you get to play with Evie who is awesome.  Jacob is fine and dandy and easy enough on the eyes but Evie is the best.  Also Victorian Era London.   Full disclosure: Assassin's Creed is like, my favorite game series along with DA.  I'm totes a massive unabashed fan girl.  If you have a PS4 Ratchet and Clank is coming out with a new game which is always easy, reliable fun.

Awesome! The first time I successfully modded a cube map for Skyrim, I felt like I had just defeated the most difficult boss in a game, on Nightmare. And it only took like 100 tries.

Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros or Zelda. (Don't laugh, I love my Nintendo games too ;P)

But... If you want to play a different RPG, I'd say Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning, Assassin's Creed or Deus Ex Human Revolution. There's also The Last of Us (great story and cinematics) and Grand Theft Auto V if you want to get crazy ;)

If you have a PS3/PS4 I recommend the remastered version of Final Fantasy X/X-2. I have both games for the PS2 and they're still my favorite RPGs.
