You know.. of all the choices one can pick in this scene, "This effing thing" is the only one I ever pick. It's just appropriate on so many levels. Has anyone actually ever picked the other choices? I don't even know how they sound because I've never bothered to try them.
I haven't yet. I actually pick it precisely because it's so out of character for most of my Inquisitors to get so angry. I like the idea that they got so overwhelmed by everything that they just snapped. I must say that Alix Wilton Regan delivers it with much more conviction than Harry Hadden-Patton. I can see why they chose her version for the trailer. Haven't taken a Sumalee Montano or Jon Curry voiced quizzy through that bit as yet.
I chose the sad, "I don't want to die" dialogue option once and I felt it was appropriate for my Inquisitor, who married Cullen. Plus the hug afterwards T_T
Eldrida chose the angry option and she still got a hug from Josie...

But I like the "Could one thing in this f#cking world just stay fixed!" rant best. Can't blame Inky for getting fed up with all the shite she's been getting
As for the other two choices, the stoic one Inky says, "It's fine. I'm okay." That one sounds bland IMO.
The last one sounds like the Inquisitor resolves her fate, "I don't know what's happening with the anchor, there's not much time. I need to get to the Davaraad while I can still fight."
I can't help but pick that everytime. At that point I imagine my Inquisitor is so fed up with everything and so he/she finally gives into his/her frustrations. After hearing both voices though I feel like the British female voice does it better.

Yeah, I think mine was HHP....very bad delivery, also very bad on the dying thing since he sounds constipated instead. Everyone else does the dying sounds ok.
As a result, my quizzies usually save their anger for the Stupid Exalted Council, either with angry keep or angry disband. I really like the body language of the latter.
I fought a level 21 dragon as a party that was mostly level 20. To make things better, she was resistant to my staff's element. I ran out of healing potions about halfway through her hit points bar. I had to keep going through barrier, guard, my necromancer's ability to heal himself after something dies in his presence, Cassandra's ability to heal the party when she hits the dirt, and just reviving party members. That was an interesting fight.
I know this is going to be responding to old posts but I wanted to get my two cents out there.
First of all to a post made by Themkefest regarding "what level should I do the DESCENT DLC?" frankly I know the DLC's seem to usually give a starting level but it seems like they do give you progressive level maximums. I think the starting levels for JOH is like 20-22ish? I actually finished Ullia's JOH run on roughly 27-28ish. When I was portal bashing I was dealing with level 26ish portals when I was at level 23-24ish for a while. It seems like the game has it's own form of MMORPG rules where certain areas and missions will be on par to your level. I know there are some exceptions like zone rules, story mission max rules like WICKED MINDS< WICKED HEARTS being an example and a few other things but for a few things like portal bashing it would be either every 5 or 0 level or every 4th level to what your at roughly. Like the example I gave I was at level 23, 24ish and the portals were like around 26ish. At least in certain moments the game at least tries to adapt to your level to be competitive. DLC's seem to share the same case.
Running through three RPGs. Nuts right? Thing is the other two rpgs can be a bit boring since they don't have interesting NPC dialogues and banter so I waltz back to DAI now and then so as not to get too bored. I'm running this PT with a trial
Reached this point. Both Inq and Cass are offering their words from lofty postures while the revered mother is trying to generate sympathy by pretending she got stabbed instead of struck on the back of the head. They are not amused.
Well I was for a while (PROJECT X ZONE 2, FIRE EMBLEM FATES: CONQUEST, SOUTH PARK STICK OF TRUTH, DAI, FALLOUT NEW VEGAS and 3) but after Fing up my TV I wound up switching to my handheld games since it was hard to have 25% of the screen (bottom mainly) covered in lines. But since I got a new TV I don't have that issue anymore. Taking photos seem to be mixed. I am still messing with my TV settings so I don't get things to bright but some of the photos I have been taking seem to come out better than my previous TV.
Do I scare you?

Started the descent dlc. At this point I've only killed one dragon. The Frostback. Raan will make a comment about it. Don't know if he doesn't if a dragon hasn't been slain at that point.

I will finish the dlc later. So far I'm enjoying it
Nice. I still wish I can play the other DLC's other than JOH but I still have yet to get a new console.
Before Greed went to the Western Approach, he had a date with a dragon.
Flying included.
Back in Skyhold he remembered that he had to speak to Viv and give her the Snowwyvern heart.
Turns out she needed it to help her lover.
Sadly it was too late for him.

I wished fighting dragons would be like SHADOW OF COLASUS (excuse my spelling). I loved the bird one because you are actually flying on it while you fight it. Fun scary stuff..
I tend to craft for a critical hit build if I can.
This gave me all sorts of joy.
For staff - Wrath of Lovias with Great bear in all of the leather slots. I also had two Superb rings of Critical Chance that I found in the Descent in that game. All his hits were critical hits and it made me giggle. So many critical hits. I think the base armor was not super critical hit inducing, but on the staff I also used the grip that has the leather slot, and the blade that also had the leather slot. Great bear on those too.
Mina is a necro this game so I've opted for Encore using a heal on hit/heal on kill build, but when I KE, Wrath of Lovias is your bestie.
I like your guy's look. As far as a critical hit rate for mages....I am unsure if this really would help for NIGHTMARE mage runs. Honestly I would need to see how Ullia's hit stats are. I think the biggest factor for doing a spit ton of damage is spell comboing. Frankly the best bet is the SHATTER COMBO (Ice then fire) where that combo alone seems to 75% to 100% full health damage. I am still trying to figure out how to do PARALYSYS COMBOS and doing a garunteed debuff combo.
When I play as a mage (doesn't matter which specialization), I usually build on high attack and critical damage. I use staff of corruption and masterwork archon staff with inscribed grip and battlemage staff blade upgrades.
Has anyone ever used the essence of perfection masterwork? I got that from the fade before fighting the nightmare demon. My dual dagger assassin is an OP goddess at level 18, so I wonder if it's any good to craft new weapons with it. And she'll be clearing Emerald Graves shortly...
I have but was for my mages armor. I prefer using it for armor to get a potential 122% resistance to whatever element. Having a 122% resistance to ice seemed to help me out for the JOH DLC.
She got hit in the head and yet her hand is cradling her side? I haven't noticed that until now, kind of a little over-dramatic lol.
I feel like they reused the animation for every character that got hurt in a cutscene
The Chantry sister <-- should hold her head
Cole if you make him more human <-- should hold his shoulder, not his stomach, if at all, cause it's not like he got physically hurt by Bianca not firing (except if they want to imply that he feels sick )
Morrigan if she drank from the Well and fought the Red Lyrium Dragon. <-- the only chara where it somehow makes sense to hold her stomach
Edit: nearly forgot
Counselor Roderick <-- he got stabbed, he's allowed to hold his stomach
The way I look at it is she got hit in the head so hard she fell on her side. Also the way I look at it is if that's the case she must be really fragile to fall on the ground and be all like "ooooh....my side.....". Also that's "fragile" not "fra-gee-lee" even though she sounds...lol...nm...j/k. Lol.
I'm just about to finish my second rift mage PT on nightmare since Trespasser was released. What's the problem supposed to be?
This will require some game mechanics nerdisms, so bear with me.
Quote, "Rift Mage has a bug that causes weakness on top of shocked to turn into sleeping status. Which means that Rift Mage can't use any ability or weapon that causes shocked, like Static Cage. No other mage has that limitation, so that means Rift Mage is broken."
The first part is true. The second part, IMO, is overblown.
The bug is a real problem, because RM passives for regenerating mana and damage buffs/debuffs rely on weakness status. If weakness isn't "sticking", those passives don't work.
My disagreement with this meme is that these problems are exaggerated. Arguably, RM is OP when all passives are working, so losing out when that particular sequence of events happens brings things back to a reasonably level playing field. And if you really hate that, you can arrange for shocked to never happen. It's a choice. Either avoid using Storm abilities or use them and just deal with an occasional debuff.
Plus, there is a bright side. You can exploit the bug by going for combos based on sleeping. Go ahead and loadout your Rift Mage with Chain Lighting and Static Cage, and have your rogue and warrior combo the heck out of those sleeping mooks.
Wait...that's a bug?
I...I keep speccing Solas with Static Cage and I love it
Then again, I don't really care about his passive buffs/debuffs. The only two RM spells I really care about, are Stone Fist and Firestorm
Even my RM Inky Bruce Lavellan uses Lightning spells and I surely won't stop with that, just because of some passive bug.
And yeah, I prefer sleeping enemies to weakened enemies. Nightmare Combos!
Interesting.
Well the "Rift Mage" bug i was exposed to was I was running a character for the mage route instead of templars. Thus being said a web site reccomended me visiting the area with the battlements because the venetori commonly spawn there. However since I was playing the mage route the area was spawning red templar based enemies. I was stumped on were I could go for the much needed venetori item I needed for the Rift Mage book. I was finding some in the first area but only gotten two from mercanries I killed and not venetori guys. I did WICKED EYES, WICKED HEARTS which gave me a spit ton of venetori but none of them dropped the required item. I gotten the final piece from the northeast of the venetori camp area in the HIDDEN WASTES by killing some venetori mages. I spent a good three weeks feeling fustrated because I had no idea why I wasn't getting what I needed and where to go since the "reccomended zone to go to" was spawning red templar oriented guys instead of venetori guys.
I'm entirely too offended on all of my inquisitor's behalfs to pick any other option other than the angry one. I felt it was super appropriate for Rafe because he was a take no BS kind of guy. They've worked too damn hard for the continent to not be appreciated (Dorian was totally right on that). I guess my righteous indignation gets in the way, as it were.
Amen.
To me, the frustrated rant option is one of the most humanizing dialogue options of the whole game for my IQ -- doesn't matter what their game race is, we all can relate. I think that's why it resonates with so many players. It brings this epic figure down to earth. Heroes can get frustrated beyond all reasonable limits too. Frustration to the edge of despair. That's real. Hits you in the gut.
It's also a contrast to how "safe" all the rest of the dialogue options are in the whole game. My IQ sounds too level-headed, too polite, too perfectly witty without being offensive, too calm in the face of adversity. Heck, if Cass can go off the deep-end and get self-destructive, why can't the IQ? The drunken scene totally humanizes Cass, just like the Varric book thing too. IQ needs scenes like that, much earlier in the game. Like right after Adamant. IQ should throw a chair out a window after losing Hawke/Warden.

I think it depends on how players shaped their Inquisitors to choose which dialogue option best fits them. For example, I also had a couple Inky's that had a take no shite attitude and the angry option suited them.

Voice acting delivery is key, because of the emotion and pacing. I felt Alix delivered her lines best out of all. John Curry's version of "This f#cking thing" was also very good.

Fun times at the winter palace for Natalia mark 2.0. A story recap in photos!
Part One
Spoiler
Nat finally made her appearance at Empress Celene's party, but she decided to go solo with just her advisors and honour guards. A certain someone from the inner circle didn't take the memo very well... *cough cough* Cassandra... *cough cough* So, the lady persuaded Varric to write a few more chapters of Swords and Shields to keep the grouchy Seeker occupied at Skyhold that evening.
Anyway, arriving at the winter palace, Natalia and Josie were welcomed by Grand Duke Gaspard. He openly pitched his plan to take the throne that was rightfully his while conspiring against Briala.
Spoiler
Empress Celene also greeted the lady Inquisitor in the ballroom. While she appeared to be sober, she really was drunk from all the wine she finished before the party. And she pretty much failed to hide it too...
While snooping around the grand library and discovering a secret passageway back to the Vestibule (from lighting the urns for the first time), Natalia met with Arcane advisor, Morrigan. Morrigan tipped her off with a key to the servant's wing and that Tevinter agents were skulking around the palace.
Part Two

A favorite mission of mine, sure the time limit can get a little annoying and restricting but it was fun being in the heart of The Game and seeing how Orlesians tried to get the upper hand over each other. That, and of course the touching dance scene with the love interest at the end. Also nice avatar. Super Inquisitor to the rescue!
Freya judged Mistress Poulin and talked to Josephine, Solas, Leliana and Vivienne. Solas and Freya had a nice little chat on her balcony and, to her surprise, Solas told her that he respects her. Leliana showed no mercy towards Grand Cleric Victoire and she made it clear to Freya that this is who she is. The one doing what needs to be done. Vivienne had a chat with her about the new Divine. I've been farming Snoufleurs in EdL, hoping they'll drop fade touched mats. I really want 1% Heal on Hit for my Necromancer going into Trespasser. I'm sure he can manage without, but even so, this item has never dropped for me and I want it. After about 500 pieces of Snoff one finally dropped (hurrah), but it was the Horn of Valor variety (boo). On the other hand, 3 Great Bears spawned one after the other and one dropped a sigil. Swings and roundabouts.
Spoiler
Tobias's run hasn't been a great one for fade touched mats. Only one Hidden Blades! 85 million of various types that give extra focus, when the team aren't using focus abilities at all. That is the way of the RNG and I bow to its wisdom.

I just started my 5th playthrough of DAI. I've been a female human mage that chose the templars (Cullen,) A female elf rogue archer that chose the mages (Solas,) a female dwarf warrior that chose the mages (Iron Bull,) and a female elf mage that chose the mages, Nightmare run (Blackwall.) I've done lots of Dragon-Age Keep tweaking to have different wardens and Morrigan childless and with child.
I realized that I've never purposefully been a douche in this game. I've been diplomatic and humorous, but never a self-righteous, andraste chosen, worshipped douche.
So I'm doing a lot of things in this playthrough I've never done to mix it up. I'm a male Qunari dagger rogue who likes being worshipped. I plan on choosing the templars and siding with the wardens so I can punch Solas. I plan on giving Blackwall a horrible fate. I plan on killing Celene. I plan on leaving Hawke in the fade.
I'm so excited.
Anyway, today I told Blackwall I like being worshipped and he hated that and told me he didn't like me. Awesome.

Any plans on siding with Qun? Or keeping Cullen on lyrium? Or giving Vivienne wrong heart? Or executing everyone you can? Or going against Temple of Mythal guardians? You know, for douchiness.

EDIT: If Dorian doesn't like me very much due to me choosing the templars, I have a back up in Cassandra. Crossing fingers for Dorian though.

Natalia found Josie in Skyhold's courtyard speaking to a Reverend Mother about the election of the next Divine. No surprise, Leliana and Cassandra were considered candidates, but it was up to them to decide for themselves.
Spoiler
Making a mental note to speak to both Divine candidates, the lady Inquisitor had other important matters to attend to. For one, the disgraced Grand Duchess' trial. It was an easy verdict to have her work in the countryside and practice singing country music songs. Or Florianne can sing opera to the Druffalo herd. Orlesians love their opera
Spoiler
Then while planning the next move against Corypheus, Morrigan rudely interrupted the wartable meeting to show Natalia the infamous eluvian leading to the crossroads.
Spoiler
As promised, Nat spoke to Leliana and Cassandra about them being Divine candidates. She thought Cassandra was best fit to succeed the late Divine Justinia and as a side note, she heard about Cassie's drunken Swords and Shields fangirl table read session from Dorian and Sera. She didn't dare bring it up with the lady Seeker.
Spoiler
Surprisingly, Nat met Morrigan's son, Kieran, for the first time. However, it got a bit awkward when Kieran cryptically mentioned about people fearing the next age if it comes too soon...

Part Two
Spoiler
Things got a bit interesting when the lady Inquisitor joined Blackwall for drinks at the tavern that evening. But on a cold, rainy morning, the bitter truth was revealed about his real identity after a botched execution in Val Royeaux.
Cullen was at his lady's side and together, they explored options on what to do with Rainier and agreed to get him out of prison. Natalia was still angry, but when she listened to Cullen's side of things, it gave her something to think about.
Spoiler
Before heading back to Skyhold, Natalia had to clear her head over the whole Rainier mess. Bull and Dorian were called to go with her to the Exalted Plains to get a snowy wyvern's heart for Vivienne. They kept quiet during the trip after witnessing their fearless leader punch a snowy wyvern and a few colourful ones in the dangle bags a little too aggressively. Later, more heartstrings were pulled when Vivienne's beloved Duke Bastien died in her attempt to save him with a special alchemy potion.
Nat also travelled with Leliana to Valence to recover a secret message from the late Divine Justinia. The duo scared off Sister Natalie, who was spying for rival Grand Cleric Victoire. As for Justinia's message, Leliana realized she had to be true to herself before being a Spymaster, Left Hand or Bard. It was a sense of renewal for her.

Part Three
Spoiler
It was time for Thom Rainier's judgement. Natalia's visit to Valence and her talk with Leliana influenced her decision over the former Orlesian Captain. While he had to earn both the Inquisition and lady Inquisitor's trust again, Rainier was set free. But he had to atone as his true self.
Spoiler
Cullen's been by Natalia's side since day one. She also was there for him when he kicked his lyrium habits and overcame his personal demons. Let's just say they had another night to themselves that involved a desk ( Thankfully, Sera didn't plant a booby trap, stink bomb or something worse... ) and more sweet kisses in the early morning

OMG, I want to trade save-games with you. I did the exact opposite. I want Great Bear mats and the sigil, but keep getting those darn heal on hit mats from Snoufleur! Does a single bear show up while I'm passing the time slaughtering innocent snow flowers? Noooooooo.

DAI needs a grinders market for this stuff.
Aw no, typical. If I could send you that sigil I would. How does the game know what we want and manage to troll us so?
After getting Horn of Valor twice I gave up and started Trespasser. Still, I got some last bits of party banter and it's enjoyable to find cruel and unusual ways of dispatching poor Snoufleurs (why do they have to be so cute and vulnerable?).
I went to Therinfall Redoubt. I refused to do the dumb puzzle, I'm important, I got stuffs to do.
The templars were acting weird, so I killed them. Turns out they've been sniffing the red lyrium.
The Lord Seeker took me on an acid trip.
I killed a lot of things, especially the really freaky looking not-the-Lord-Seeker.
I struggled between disbanding the templars and accepting them as free allies. I thought it would be better to put them in servitude. Solas loved that.
Damn.
Better talk to him and tell him Spirits aren't people and the fade is stupid to bring down his approval of his Lord Douchiness.
