I figured out that Iron Bull hasn't "approved" or "disapproved" of anything since I made Gaspard the ruler of Orlais. It seems he is glitched. :( Oh well, no killing Chargers for me in this playthrough.

I listened to Morrigan and Solas bicker through the temple of Mythal. Ugh. I couldn't wait to make them angry.

I chased Calpernia through the underground instead of doing the rituals, so Abelas started attacking me in the temple. Solas sure hated that. :D

I fought my way to Calpernia, and it's been so long since I've fought her instead of Samson, I forgot she flung herself over the edge afterward. That was a shocker.

Morrigan stabbed Abellas, which made me mad. I would have rather the well destroyed so nobody could drink from it. So I drunk from it to make her mad. :D

Cassandra seems to approve of everything I do. I'm such a good Douche-quisitor boyfriend.

Geese.. at least Canadian Geese... are really mean.  Boo Canada and your mean geese!  They also crap all over the park and then you slip on it and fall and are covered in goose crap.  I'm not bitter or anything.

I'm currently at the Small Grove camp on the Storm Coast, pre-Skyhold, having just recruited Bull.  I'm trying to find the ruin where you find Schaffer's rampart, plus a Bianca upgrade, I think.  I remember it's at the end of a cut at the base of the cliffs.  Does anyone remember what region it's in?

In my experience Greylag geese are even worse, especially when they have goslings. We get both around here and the Greylags in particular used to block my way around York University regularly with their overprotective hissing.

An accurate image of me, after last night's kerfuffle.

Decided to check in on my Rom play through (2hd Reaver, Dorianmancer), last night. Hadn't played with him for many a moons, and wished to reacquaint. First Origin did an update - which always makes me nervous, having had to deal with more problems due to them, than I care to count. But thankfully, everything appeared to be fine. Started up the game, and loaded the last save from Rom. Still all good. Looked through the Journal, to remind myself where I was in the story with him, and where to go next.

Since I had not finished out getting back the amulet for Dorian, and was on the last steps before heading to the Shrine of Dumat, I figured those would be the two best things to tackle first. Started the War Table mission to get Monsieur Prissypants into the guild (or wuteva he needed),before handing over the amulet, had "sexy-times" with Dorian (actually, had "terrible clipping/weird animation-times" with Dorian  ), then headed off to the Shrine of Dumat. It had been ages since I had done this quest (so many In Hushed Whispers, play throughs), so I took my time. Got to "bubble boy", and had a chat. Gave him a merciful death, since Rom is a bit of a giant softie, and then..........Infinite Loadscreen!

Have never had one on this machine, and even my original PC I played on, only did that once. Had to Alt+F4 out, and that is where the real trouble started. When I got back into the game, it would hard freeze on trying to load the save. Tried multiple saves, and had to End Task in task manager everytime. Decided to try a different PC - same thing! /headdesk

At that point I figured I should start fiddling with mods. Did a remerge, and removed all but two mods. And of course, I had shut down my PC completely, and restarted. Thankfully, I was able to load my Petra Trevelyan just fine this time. Quit out, and remerged again, to add some of the mods back. It worked - at least with Petra. Didn't have the energy to start futzing around with Rom, in case everything went sideways. Thinking I will leave Rom be, till I get done with Petra and my self-insert play through, then disable all (or most) of my mods, before trying Rom again. Will also reload from an earlier save, and delete the saves I made during that short stint last night.

I did end up finishing out the Merc fortress and Valamarr in the Hinterlands, with Petra. Oh, and the last two rifts. S'all good.......for now.

I've been away from Thedas for a week and finally got a chance to play today. The first order of business was to change Gwenyn's Skyhold outfit. I like her current one, but it has a weird stain like pattern on the backside which I find extremely irritating - it looks like a sweat patch .

Spoiler

Then it was off to the Western Approach to collect Alpha Quillback spines for her specialization and to take care of the darkspawn situation. Blackwall was as happy and eager as a puppy, especially when Gwenyn found his Grey Warden artifacts.

It's such a shame that banter doesn't trigger in this area (although it does in the Still Ruins, oddly). Some shots, mostly of Dorian  :D, I missed him so much in my last playthrough. I had my 'wreck everything' team - Dorian, Solas, Blackwall and archer Inquisitor.

Spoiler

Back at Skyhold, Gwenyn caught Cassandra reading a book. I always leave the second half of this until later - it just feels weird that Varric takes 2 minutes to finish it.

Spoiler

Gwenyn is going to try to defeat the dragon next. At level 13/12 (NM) I'm not sure how that's going to go but it will be fun to try.

Always feel some satisfaction when I get the wardens to turn on Erimond in Here Lies the Abyss, that and when I make him tranquil during his judgement. The only judgement for him that actually scares him and again, a lot of satisfaction.  B)

Freya and her companions cleared a temple full of Hakkonites, their leader Gurd Harofsen amongst them, and met the old Inquisitor afterwards. She learned more about him, his companions and what had happened in the past.

Spoiler

After that, the dragon that was sealed away by Ameridan escaped, so Freya and her companions set out to deal with it, but not before taking some screenshots of the scenery gathering some of Ameridan's memories, scattered throughout the Frostback Basin.

Spoiler

The beautiful and majestic creature was slain, much to Freya's dismay, but it had to be done.

Spoiler

She spoke with Sun-Hair once again, became an honorary member and had to judge Storvacker. A pretty nice adventure.

Spoiler

Why, why, why does this map have a day and night setting, aaaargh. The Hold looked SO pretty at night. I will go through my screenies tomorrow, way too tired right now

Weird thing happened to me. I was fighting the Agent of the Nightmare boss and...it gave up. It easily had at least 25% of its health left and the fight suddenly ended. Odd, makes me wonder if that's supposed to happen or my quizzy and company are just super powerful.

After some days not playing DAI (continued my abandoned FFIV PT on my DS) I finished the Forbidden Oasis with Greed yesterday.

I had decided that I wouldn't enter the Solas'an Temple before I hadn't gotten all Shards, (I also didn't travel to the Oasis, till I had all shards from the other areas) so this was the first time where Vints were all over the place. It was also the first time, where only like 5-6 spiders were in the spider cave.... the one time where I had hoped for spider mayhem and got disappointed.  <_<

I thought I could finish the area in one go, but I had to go back to Skyhold, because after I had finished the Spirit, Ice and Fire doors, my inventory was at 89/90  <_<

After that was done, I looked at the Journal and saw, I was missing:

- 3 mosaic pieces

- 1 bottle

- 1 song

- 1 dwarven gear

(which is actually cool, because I found all the other stuff without looking at the wikia  :)) Okay, so I went back to the Hinterlands, the Storm Coast, the Forbidden Oasis and the Descent to search for the missing stuff and now all collections are done.

To Do:

- Jaws of Hakkon

- What Pride Had Wrought

- The Final Piece

- Doom Upon All the World

- Trespasser

Gwenyn took down her first dragon in the Western Approach. No one was happier about this than Iron Bull. He's tanking again and I respecced Sera as a DW for this  fight - wow, she's a wee beast with daggers and I might keep her this way. Nobody died - such lack of drama, I was almost disappointed .

Spoiler

So many companions are vying for Gwenyn's attention. Cassandra wants to look for the Seekers, Josie's couriers have been murdered and Leliana has a lead, Bull has learned that the Qun are seeking an alliance with the Inquisition. She's prioritising Josie, as she's afraid that Josie might be in danger.

Gwenyn let the assassin go free, out of respect for his warning, but she's considering Leliana's straight forward method of dealing with the contract.

Rikki's taking a break in Skyhold, so I decided to play catch up with lady Necromancer Nymisa. She finally got her specialization after reclaiming all the war zone areas and routed the Freemen and undead in the Exalted Plains. She also helped Solas free his spirit friend from a group of amateur Mages. Even though she's with Cullen, Solas confessed he still cares for her.

Following that, Nymisa took down the Northern Hunter dragon in Crestwood with Bull and Cassandra. Bull cheered loudly after their victory, but the celebration was cut short when the Ben Hasserath arranged for a mission in the Storm Coast. Long story short, Nymisa told Gatt that he and the Qunari can f#ck off. Bull and the Chargers got their bee hinds saved.

The Western Approach was the last stop, so Nymisa met up with Hawke and Stroud, then scared off Tevinter diva b!tch Erimond. And she easily took over Griffon Wing Keep, giving the Venatori a big boot in their arses.

Back in Skyhold, a few people... Josie, Blackwall, Solas, Cole, Cass and Sera didn't take Nymisa's Necromancy practice too well. The lady didn't give two cents stating she wanted to stand out from the crowd, be stronger and outlive everyone. At least Dorian was still nice to her. They're good friends anyway ;) Even her boyfriend, Cullen, seemed fine with it, but he may have to explain to his family at some point the girl he's seeing isn't a girl next door type. There's gossip going around that Cullen has really weird taste in women.

Anyway, it's a coin toss between Adamant and Halamshiral. Maybe Nymisa needs to travel to more places first and master her undead spirit powers. Dominating Thedas while riding on her nightmarish steed is another thing too :D

The temptation to troll Solas proved to be too great, so ...

MAYA AND THE TEMPLE OF MYTHAL - PART 1

Maya gathered her entire Inner Circle, including Morrigan, in the War Room. Well, except for Solas, of course. They hadn't spoken since Maya had clocked him with a good old-fashioned Carta haymaker.

"Listen up! I'm going back to the Deep Roads to help Valta and Renn! No more interruptions! No more emergencies! No more diplomatic incidents! I'm going back there, even if I have to go by myself! Does anyone want to argue about it? No? Good!"

Maya hadn't really expected any argument. She'd taken the precaution of having her bow nocked with an explosive arrow and pointed the business end and anyone who looked like they wanted to speak. Josie was about to pass out from holding her breath.

Just when Maya thought she was safely going to get her way, a hollow voice whispered in her ear, "If you return to the Deep Roads now, you will die."

What the? Maya whipped around and nearly jabbed Solas in his elven privates with an explosive arrowhead. He had sidled up right behind her to whisper some gloom in doom into her ear.

"Solas! What in the Maker's hairy armpit do you think you're doing?!"

"Saving your life, Inquisitor."

Maya wasn't born yesterday. She'd been expecting some sort of payback from Solas since the day she socked him. Solas wouldn't lift a finger to save her life, unless there was something in it for him.

"Elfsplain!" Maya demanded.

"I have been dreaming in the Fade. I saw a vision of you and your crew in the Deep Roads, far beneath the abandoned lyrium mine. You were confronted by shadows that attacked you with missiles of blue light. You all perished."

Gasps of horror. Thom cried out, "No! My lady, you mustn't risk it! Us!"

Even Maya's skeptical look had a skeptical look. "So I'm just supposed to believe some indigestion nightmare you had and forget all about the loo ... er, earthquakes and whatnot?"

"Do as you will, Inquisitor. You always do. But, if you want to survive in the Deep Roads, there is an artifact that could help you."

Aha! Now we were getting somewhere. "An artifact? What kind of artifact? Where is it? I'll send Leliana's scouts to pick it up."

"Not so fast. I do not know exactly what the artifact is. A spirit in the Fade told me of another spirit that stands guard over an artifact that would protect you and your crew in the Deep Roads."

"It's in the Fade?" Maya asked.

"No. The guardian spirit is trapped on this side of Veil."

"So ... in exchange for telling me where this artifact is, you want me to free the trapped spirit? What is this spirit, your girlfriend or something?" Sera snickered and Cole looked puzzled.

"No! Please try to control your vulgarity. And you are wrong about my request as well. I will tell you the location of this artifact, if you will first agree to pursue Corypheus in the Arbor Wilds."

Cullen shouted, "Yeah!" pumped his fist.

Maya did a double-take. "Wait a minute! Have you and Cullen teamed up or something? He's been on me for weeks to go chasing after Coryphish in the jungles of the Arbor Wilds. No thank you! Let the nug-sized mosquitoes suck on his black blood for a while. He's welcome to them."

"Come now, Inquisitor! Will you neglect your duty and allow Corypheus to have the run of the Arbor Wilds, building his army and collecting whatever he needs to renew his assault on the Fade?"

"Indeed," Morrigan stepped in. "I believe Corypheus seeks an Eluvian, so that he may enter the Fade in his own body."

More gasps.

Maya ignored them and eyed Solas suspiciously. What was his angle? Why was Coryphish so important to him? Well, besides the whole destroy the world thing.

"And, one more thing, Inquisitor," Solas said. "I must accompany you to the Arbor Wilds. I will take Vivienne's place in your crew."

"Suits me," Vivienne said. "Jungle mud never comes out of Infused Vyrantium Samite, and a yard of that fabric costs a minor barony to import."

And so it was decided that Maya would take her revised crew to the Arbor Wilds to chase after Coryphish.

As the meeting broke up, Maya pulled Thom aside. "Sweet-cheeks, keep an eye on old Egghead McElfy over there. He's up to no good."

"I will always have your back, my lady."

While everyone else prepared for battle, Maya took a moment to admire all the loot she had collected so far. Bonnie Sims and her Tradesmen were kind enough to build a vault in the basement of Skyhold to hold all her amassed wealth. Maya liked to sneak down there late at night and roll around in all the gold in her skivvies.

"Farewell, dear friends! I had hoped to collect more friends to join you, but there will be an unfortunate delay while I take care of a few chores. But soon, very soon, you'll numbers will grow. I promise!"

Daria finally made it to Orzammar. Ugh....I wish I could skip all the political bs and just get to the Deep Roads already. No idea who I will side with this time, but Gavorn always makes me feel like I need to bathe for a week after talking to him.

Made a quick trip back to the Circle to sell the lyrium pile and get Dagna admitted for study. Daria could have squeezed Godwin for more gold in order to keep his secret, but since Alistair was already disgusted by the whole situation she decided to let it go.

I'm debating whether to side trip back to Denerim too. Master Wade is in need of drake scales, I believe, and I've got half a dozen for him. :D Also, dragon scales. Took me several attempts and party permutations to finally kill ol' Andraste. The winning combo was Alistair, Wynne and Morrigan. Both mages with group heal, Morrigan with frost weapons and Wynne with haste. Nobody even died that time.

Also completed: Nature of the Beast, with Zathrian ending the curse, Return to Ostagar, and "killing" Flemeth. Shhh....don't tell Morrigan. :P

Today with my human 2h reaver I shutdown the red templar operation on the storm coast, then I tried taking on the dragon but decided it was too much of a match for me and my squad so I took out the dragon in the Western Approach instead.  Also went to an elven ruin in the Emerald Graves.  Good times.  Still can't get Blackwall's quest unlocked.  Probably since I exiled the wardens and offed Celine in this playthrough I havn't got as high approval from him.  Will just have to finish finding all the old Gray Warden stuff to get it initiated.

The Douche-quisitors reign has ended.

I lollygagged about in the western approach and the storm coast before talking to Mortigan. Kieran had run into the fade to greet grandmama, who turns out to be Mythal.... So I'm ensaved.... Dammit.

I decided to kick Croupheus's butt. It wasn't too hard as a dagger assassin, though I always rely on trusty Cassandra and Vivienne.

Solas disappeared. Good riddance.

Even though I prepped Leiliana to be a murderous divine, and encouraged Cassandra to refuse the offer, Cassandra became divine. Whoooooops. I guess my Douche-quisitor deserved it. We still carried on a secret romance, though we could never marry.

I was excited to be a Qunari and play through Trespasser, but I was disappointed how stupid I was and that I knew nooooothing. Leiliana translated qunlat for me, and Iron Bull explained way too many customs to me. Grrrr. Ignoramous-itor. Trespasser is way more emotional as a Solasmancer or Cullenmancer.

Even though Iron Bull glitched and never gave me his chargers quest, he still betrayed me and I killed his traitor butt.

The inquisition is so small now......

I freed the dragon at cass's request. My hand kept freaking out, so as soon as th vidisala told me Solas was near, I saw an opportunity to have him heal my hand!!

I forgot how much I love that final boss fight, the music is amazing,

Solas was NOT happy to see me. Woooohooohoooo. He let me know we were pretty much enemies. My plan all along. Then he stole my powerful yet killing me hand!!!!!!

I didn't disband the inquisition like I thought I would. We're now divine Victoria's "personal guard" if you know what I mean. I can be close to Cass for awhile, anyway.

What I did to Cullen is about the only thing I feel bad about. :(

Anyway, the teeny inquisition was left with Dorian, Varric, and Vivienne by the time my destruction was done.

It was a fun playthrough to be so douchey. ;) I had to finish this before Battleborn, Uncharted 4 and Overwatch came out. I'm set gaming wise for awhile now!

MAYA AND THE TEMPLE OF MYTHAL - PART 2 - OR - HOW TO MINE STORMHEART FOR FUN AND PROFIT

While battle raged through the Arbor Wilds, all the allies of the Inquisition demanded attention from Josie and Maya. Empress Celene was particularly needy and fretful.

Spoiler

Cullen had assembled a fine set of forces, including a squad of "vat soldiers", created by the Fereldan necromancer Merlyn. Creepy, but effective.

Spoiler

Maya wasn't hating the Arbor Wilds as much as she thought. The bugs were annoying, but there was also a lot of beauty. Waterfalls, too. Maya loved waterfalls.

Spoiler

The flora and fauna were fascinating. Maya saw mushrooms as big as houses and "jungle chickens" that were as gaudy as Dorian at a ball. Solas said the birds were created by elven magic. Thom said, "Is that so? Seems like a lot of trouble for a noisy bird. In the Free Marches, we'd just put a buzzard in a clown suit and call it a day."

Spoiler

When Maya had had enough of coddling her allies, she snuck out of camp with her crew and headed for the fighting. The RT didn't present much of a challenge. Her troops were pumped that they were able to put most of them down without any help.

As they got closer and closer to the elven ruins, Solas seemed distracted. He was never the sort to smile much, but his constant frowning was deepening.

During a pause between battles, Maya asked Solas, "What's on your mind, Solas? You look like there is something you want to tell me."

"Not at all, Inquisitor. Pray, let us continue."

Yeah, right.

Spoiler

In the next battle, elves in weird armor attacked ... but they also attacked the RT?

"Solas?" Maya asked.

"Perhaps we will learn more at the temple itself."

Perhaps, indeed! Maya and her crew heard fighting ahead. A squad of the elven fighters blocked Corypheus and his Venatori from crossing a bridge. This was the first time Maya had seen Corypheus in the flesh since the catastrophe at Haven. She was itching for payback.

Some magical rocks started to glow and lit up Corypheus something awful. The explosion killed all the elves ... and Corypheus!! But the Venatori continued across the bridge as if they didn't care.

Spoiler

"What is going on?" Maya asked.

"Don't look now, but that dead warden is coming back to life!" Dorian said.

"Gross! It's the Darkspawn of Coryphish! Make a run for it!" Maya yelled.

Spoiler

The RT dragon made an appearance and chased Maya and her crew across the bridge. They got the magical elven gates shut just in a nick of time.

Spoiler

No time to rest, the Venatori were blazing a trail through the temple. Solas and Morrigan wanted to waste time reading old elven graffiti, but Maya wasn't having any of it. She jumped down a hole to chase after the Venatori.

After fighting some Venatori, Maya and her crew were confronted by more of the elven guards, calling themselves Sentinels. They seemed a bit put out for being woken up from a long sleep. Their leader, Abelas, told them to turn back, and when they refused, ordered them killed. Morrigan turned into a bird (huh, didn't know she could do that!) and followed, leaving Maya and the rest of the crew to fight the Sentinels.

After all the Sentinels were sent to a more permanent sleep, Solas was livid. "Senseless slaughter! Inquisitor! You blunder ahead without a thought or a care and expect me to follow?"

"No, Solas. I expect you to obey! Unless you are purposely trying to delay us? What is it you are not telling us?? Who are these Sentinels? Why didn't you say anything to that Abelas when I asked you?"

Blackwall stepped forward, greatsword at the ready. "You heard my lady. Answer!"

"Threaten all you want. Just remember that without me, the Deep Roads will be your death."

Spoiler

"Grrr ..." Maya wanted to punch the elven egghead again, but there was no time. They had to chase after the Venatori.

I got so involved in the battle and cutscenes that follow that I forgot to take screenshots. So these are borrowed from the interwebs.

After more fights with Venatori and Sentinels, the crew finally arrived at the Well of Sorrows. The Venatori mage, Calpernia, made a speech, but when it came to fighting, she was a lightweight. She chose death over dishonor.

Spoiler

Dorian asked the question that was on everyone's minds. "I'm puzzled. Calpernia just teleported up to those rocks, before falling to her death, yes? Why didn't she just teleport up to the Well of Sorrows directly?"

Maya shrugged, "Who knows? But there goes Abelas. After him!"

Abelas made a brave stand at the Well itself, but before he could flush the waters down the drain, Morrigan gave him an old-fashioned Carta stab in the back treatment.

She waved the bloody knife at Solas and growled, "Will you be next to follow your elven friend into the Fade? You but need to say one word of protest and I will oblige."

After some dickering over who would drink from the Well, Maya told Morrigan to stand down and make way. Drinking from the well was kind of like drinking a bit too much from her Bottles of Thedas collection, but then everything went WHOOSH and she was back with her crew.

Enter Corypheus. Who knew he could fly?

Morrigan activated the Eluvian and shoved everyone through. Coryphish tried to give chase, but someone or something blocked him at the last second.

Back as Skyhold, Maya reached up and grabbed Solas by the roadkill around his neck and growled, "I hope you're satisfied! Did you get what you wanted? A glimpse of some secret elven graffiti? Or was it a reunion with your old elven pals ... wait ... you flinched when I said 'your old elven pals'! Was that it? Are you connected to the Sentinels in some way."

Solas tore loose and turned away. "It is no concern of yours, Inquisitor," Solas said, with pain in his voice.

"Like hell it isn't! You still owe me."

"Of course," Solas said, bitterly. "You will find the artifact you seek in the Frostback Basin, on an island across the lake from an Avvar fishing village. Good day, Inquisitor."

Maya turned to Blackwall, "If he's lying, you know what to do."

Blackwall nodded.

While I'm not anywhere near there yet, I'm struggling to come up with a reason to play DAI again with either my last DAO/2 world state or the one I'm working on now. Any suggestions?

I've romanced everyone but Sera and I'm still not interesting in doing that (ducks) though I might be open to taking her with me more to find the Red Jenny caches spread around various areas. Plus, arrows. :)

I've played all specs except Reaver and Necro, neither of which really appeal to me. Necro would be more likely than Reaver though, 'cause mage = more fun than warrior. However, as a necro, I'd have less reason to take Dorian everywhere, so that would be bad.

I've played all race/gender combos except male dwarf, which I don't want to play. While I like female Cadash well enough, the camera/height issues aren't something I want to experience again. For a new game, I would probably play human female but if I did, I'd want to be a rogue since I already played a female human mage.

I have no interest in deliberately not recruiting or driving companions away since I don't like to miss out on content (though it might make the game shorter if I did that ). I could always be anti-Solas, though, since he doesn't leave until the end anyways.

So, this is why I'm having a hard time finding motivation to play again. :(

In the meantime, it's back to Orzammar (or is it Denerim?) with Daria.....
