Sera is my favourite romance of any I've done in DA. The nicknames... The diary... The emotions in Trespasser... You need to experience it! A young rebellious human female rogue could work with her, or perhaps a Qunari mage, who feels like Sera is a fellow outsider. That could work well with Necromancer...While I'm not anywhere near there yet, I'm struggling to come up with a reason to play DAI again with either my last DAO/2 world state or the one I'm working on now. Any suggestions?
I've romanced everyone but Sera and I'm still not interesting in doing that (ducks) though I might be open to taking her with me more to find the Red Jenny caches spread around various areas. Plus, arrows.
I've played all specs except Reaver and Necro, neither of which really appeal to me. Necro would be more likely than Reaver though, 'cause mage = more fun than warrior. However, as a necro, I'd have less reason to take Dorian everywhere, so that would be bad.
I've played all race/gender combos except male dwarf, which I don't want to play. While I like female Cadash well enough, the camera/height issues aren't something I want to experience again. For a new game, I would probably play human female but if I did, I'd want to be a rogue since I already played a female human mage.
I have no interest in deliberately not recruiting or driving companions away since I don't like to miss out on content (though it might make the game shorter if I did that). I could always be anti-Solas, though, since he doesn't leave until the end anyways.
So, this is why I'm having a hard time finding motivation to play again.
In the meantime, it's back to Orzammar (or is it Denerim?) with Daria.....
What Did You Do Today (in the DA 'verse) ? .... oops ;)

I know.
The problem is, in my head, the only type of person who could romance Sera is someone who doesn't give two sh!ts about anything. And, also in my head, that kind of person just wouldn't cut it as Inquisitor. ![]()

I don't think so. You just need someone who needs a counterpoint to all the weighty business of being Inquisitor. Someone who doesn't quite feel at home there and needs an escape/release valve. If you think that Sera doesn't care about anything, I think you're misjudging her. She cares a lot, but she cares about the little people caught in the middle much more than the bigwigs and their politics and grandstanding. Take her along in Halamshiral to see her react to the murdered servants, or how about this from JoH:

I don't think Sera doesn't care, though she does point out more than once that what she really wants is to just have fun. I think *I* (and by extension, my character) need to not care about being Inquisitor. But I can't rp someone like that because, in my head, someone who doesn't care about being Inquisitor is going to die sooner rather than later (either in the field or by Cassandra) and the world is going to end. It's not a character that makes sense to me in this game.

Hmmm... I think it's quite possible to care about being Inquisitor in terms of understanding that you need to get the job done and that because of the anchor you are the only one who can do it, but at the same time need to have someone like Sera to give you a break from all the serious business from time to time. Even Cassandra recognises in the end that Sera is necessary as the one who is there to ground everyone else when they get caught up in their own self-importance.

All that said, some things to consider:
* Multiplayer: yes, it's more combat than anything else, so moving right along ...
* Solo run: kind of the same problem, the only thing that really changes in Combat
* No-crafting run: again, impacts mostly Combat, but you do end up going places you might not ordinarily go, since it has some gear worth getting there. The Storm Coast, for example
* 100% run: do everything in a single run, literally everything: every side-quest, every region, every collectible, every codex, every everything. Insofar as you can with forced-choice branches. There ought to be an achievement for that.
* Jerquisitor run, just like Obliviousmiss's
* Every romance run: start and break-up with every possible LI in a single run (not even sure this is possible)
Or, just set it down.

So, this is why I'm having a hard time finding motivation to play again.
Play ME2 again? I found out how to use the gibbed editor again and that I can actually use it any time in the game to adjust credits and resources.
Oh I'll get to finishing ME1 but I'm having a lot of fun bouncing mobs around with biotics. No biotic combo for explosions but boy, I love watching them fly off into the distance. The weird part is when they clipped into invisible walls and got kind of meshed up.
I look forward to doing this again to one particular spectre. I recorded this years ago. ![]()
I'm near the end for DAI with Trespasser to go. Pretty much near finish Deep Descent. One thing I don't like is pre-positioned mobs. I ran into one of those archery type mob who's out of position. When he saw the party he auto-retreat and kept retreating all the way near the entrance where he was supposed to stand. It's exasperating because nothing can be done to halt his retreat. The party just keep hitting him and he went down because he retreated to a cliff edge; bad pathing.

I divided my game time between Nymisa and Rikki earlier today.
First off, Nymisa cleared the rest of the Exalted Plains, befriended the Dalish and slayed the Gamorean Stormrider dragon. It was a little tough, because Dorian and Bull each got knocked out more than once while Cass and Nymisa stayed alive the whole time.
Also, the rest of the Hinterlands was also cleared except for the Ferelden Frostback high dragon. Not to worry, she'll be taken care of later.
Moving onto Rikki, he saved Crestwood from the undead and sealed the underground rift. As for the mayor, he was sentenced to life in Ferelden's prison. Next up, Rikki accompanied Sera to take care of some p!ss headed noble; he freed Bull from the Qun's influence and helped Dorian reconcile with his father.
An awkward moment happened between Rikki and Dorian... It seemed Dorian was interested in the handsome elven Inquisitor and spent quite the time flirting with him. Rikki wasn't sure whether he should take them as compliments or be totally weirded out, so he politely declined the Tevinter Mage's advances. Deep inside, a lovely lady Ambassador already captured his heart.
Lastly, not DA related, I pre-ordered Deus Ex Mankind Divided. I loved the first game (Human Revolution), so hopefully the sequel will be good.

Hmm.. Have you ever played a run without romancing anyone? If you're playing as a rogue (DW or Archer with your fave specialization), I bet she'll enjoy her freedom more than being tied down in a relationship. There's nothing wrong in staying single while being friends with the rest of the inner circle.
You can also have Sera as a regular in the party and find all of the Red Jenny caches scattered around Thedas. Just a couple of ideas there.

Have you ever done a true to life self-insert before? What I mean by this is, you try and truly imagine yourself in that position - gaining the anchor, recruiting and influencing on behalf of the Inquisition, then becoming Inquisitor yourself. You take what you actually can do in real life - physically AND morally speaking - and apply it to the game. And you "try" not to meta (in other words, don't!
I had never done a self-insert, before this game. The closest I have ever come to doing so in other games, was having at least one character that had some similar morals, a bit of my personality, and some of my tastes and preferences. Now that sounds like a lot, but when I really started planning my "true" self-insert, I realized that I would have done a lot of things differently, than the one character I usually make that has the most in common with me.
I also established rules. When I was much younger, I had done a little fencing and some archery. More archery than fencing, and since the latter doesn't use giant 2hdr's or shields, I figured archery would be the best choice. Then I applied combat rules, that I have stuck to - for example, I have never been able to do a back flip, so no Leaping Shot. Also, couldn't imagine that I could do a bunch of stealthy stuff (since it is more "magicky" in this game), and also couldn't see myself smashing bottles of Elements on to my person. However, I actually DO like to tinker, so Artificer was an acceptable Spec. And that is just the combat stuff.
Moving on to appearance, race, background, none of the backgrounds fit, but I am actually human....supposedly
Decision needed to be as organic as possible. I have only been doing things I really believe I would do, and that means I did skip some stuff (honestly, that might be the hardest part to the play through...that twitchy finger thing, wanting to follow similar paths from other play throughs, and being not a hard-core complitionist, but still damn thorough.
Chosen options were based on how I would react to the given info (and any prior info I had already experienced/learned), to reach a decision. The Wardens were a good example of that. Based on what the game gives me (and again, not using meta knowledge of potential outcomes), I sent the wardens back to Weisshapt. Couldn't really imagine I would have let them stay while potentially ending up under the thrall of Cory. It wasn't some kind of "poetic justice" thing...it just seemed practical to me.
Anyway, I have already bored this thread enough with posts regarding my "rules" to playing a self-insert, but I thought I would toss it out to you.
It should be noted though: like others have already said, you may just be ready to put this game down for now. Perhaps as DA4 gets closer, you will be inspired to give it another go. Regardless, do what you would have fun doing, and if nothing sounds terribly fun about another run, there are always other games. Or you could play some MP with me sometime.
Good luck, whatever you choose.

I'm looking forward to this one too. The original was one of the first games that really sucked me into its story and world, before I played "proper" RPGs. OT. I don't know what's with the game devs nowadays but I'm seeing a lot of MOBAs and sparse narrative; Dark Souls III, Battleborn, Arcane Warfare, Doom, Dreadnought, Livelock, Shadow Warrior. The only difference among them is setting, different chars, skins, abilities. They look like clones of one another. What happen to rich narrative, characters, protags?
I keep going back to the old games. I don't see anything I like. I tried Dreadnought (beta) but it's something that will go stale on me fast. So far, I'm looking forward to Dishonored II (female protag! Emily), Star Citizen (if it would finally come out) and the final installment for Dreamfall Chapters.

Story and character-rich games have always been in the minority. I only play a few select games and that's been true for me for a long time. Back in the 80s most games were 2D shooters and platformers, then came FPSs, which also began the multiplayer stuff as the internet became faster and more reliable. I've always been a solitary gamer so none of that appeals to me. I don't mind re-visiting old games though.

It was so fun, trying to anger everyone and being a self-righteous, Andraste-chosen tyrant, doing everything for my own power and liking how some people worshipped me.
I'd 100% recommend.

In my experience Greylag geese are even worse, especially when they have goslings. We get both around here and the Greylags in particular used to block my way around York University regularly with their overprotective hissing.
I'm not familiar with these evil Greylag beasts. I can only imagine if they make Canadian Geese look like Girl Scouts!

Well, I see a few problems with trying that. 1. I have long hair, which doesn't exist in DAI without mods that only work in vanilla game. 2. I'm left-handed, which isn't a possible fighting style, despite the fact Cass writes with her left hand. 3. I don't have the dexterity for DW, the strength for warrior, the eyesight for archery, or the magic for mage. Insert me in Skyhold and I'm probably the guy in the library organizing Leliana's books. Stick me with the anchor? I'm hiding in my room until the way to the rift is cleared by the real fighters. ![]()
I hope I didn't seem too pushy last night. I was just making the case for trying my favourite romance. I'd never dream of trying to force someone to do something they didn't want to.

I would say no. I brought him once but I didn't really feel like he added much. He does have some comments about spirits, if I recall. I like having Cole for that though, since he is one. Bull also has some good lines but you probably don't need 2 reavers.
However, Solas might be helpful just for crowd-controlling those dang Hakkonites.
