So today my dwarven warden went to Haven, slaughtered a crazy dragon cult, got a pouch of Andraste's ashes, returned to Redcliffe castle where the ashes woke up Eamon, Eamon gave me a nifty shield which I will probably equip on Alistair.  Right now I am at Soldier's peak having an armor crisis.  Was equipped with the blood dragon armor, which powered me through the entire Redcliffe arc where I had very little trouble but I just don't like how it looks.  Now it looks better on dwarves than on other races but it still suffers in the looks department.  Now I have a set of dwarven heavy chaimail armor which looks pretty good and got me through the earlier parts of the game, and thanks to the nifty magic storage box I have at soldier's peak I can level the armor to better tiers as I advance through the game.  Now it doesn't have anything special statswise but it looks good damnit.  I will ultimately end up using the Legion of the Dead armor but it will be a while before I can get my hands on that and I need something in the meantime.

What about the Warden Commander armor you get at Soldier's Peak? Did you kill the dragon at Haven? I really like Wade's Dragonbone Plate too.

Spoiler

Gosh, Fenris looks good. My first playthrough, I was Anders all the way and Fenris and I didn't get along, although I never managed the rival lock. 2nd playthrough, I went for him but then my Hawke was miffed when he left and rebounded to Anders. Fenris was locked as friend, and not always seeing him so angry really grew a soft spot for him in my little gamer heart. But I've already picked out my third playthrough as an angry male rogue Hawke that can actually land the execution blow on Anders (something I've not even let myself see on youtube.) Fenris and I are making it happen come 4th playthrough though. Are you going for him with Emma?

Definitely! :D Sigh....even if it means a horrible choice down the road in DAI. I did all the other romances in DA2 and Fenris is my favorite. The only bad thing about the outfit mod I'm using is that you can't see as much of the markings as with his normal outfit. So when you meet him and he says, "I must look strange to you," it just doesn't have the same effect.

*Pops head into thread*

I haven't been doing anything in the DA 'verse recently because I found that I just needed a break from it. I'm sure I'll get back to Xoana's playthrough soon. I left her in the middle of storming Adamant...

I decided to have a go at Jade Empire, seeing as how Origin gave it to me for free and all. I must say that I'm rather enjoying it. I wasn't expecting to bump into this guy, though!

Spoiler

I really liked Jade Empire. It's pretty short (about 30 hrs or so) so I played it twice in just a couple of weeks. No spoilers but...make sure you talk to Kang a lot. ;)

Because I got DAO and DA2 back running, I'm thinking of doing a new WS after I finished Greed's PT.

DAO: City Elf / Archer / romancing Zevran

DA2: Warrior(?) / romancing Izzy / siding with Templars (eeeew)

DAI: Dalish / KE / romancing Cullen / going the Templar route

Warrior is the only DA2 class I haven't tried yet, same with helping the Templars (which I only do for the achievement), but maybe I should romance Fenris, instead of Izzy?

I romanced Anders & Merrill so far, loved Merrill's romance and my purple Hawke was best friends with Izzy. (which is why I wanted to romance her this time)

I think I let Alistair stay a Warden in DAO, so I'd sacrifice Hawke in DAI. hmmm....

Those throat markings are pretty distinct. It must also make the banter from...who was it... someone suggested to Fenris for him to wear a coat and cover up a bit to lay low. Varric or Aveline. It would make that banter out of place, because he'd already be following that advice.

I'm still trying to decide who I will let die this DAI play though. Warden Alastair or Sarcastic Sad Hawke. It's been long enough since I romanced Alastair ... But I also think of the fact that Anders and Hawke are seeking atonement together and if I thought he was going to be sad when he was friendmanced? Gosh, wouldn't he just kill himself if he was rival manced, alone out there somewhere, and Hawke never came back? He is such a broken man. But in the Warden Alastair world Keep, he was never romanced by my Warden.  :( I just love that silly man so much.  :P

Thanks!  I've been disabling AVG for 10 minutes right before I play because once the game is running it runs fine when AVG comes back up, but your way means one less step before I play.

You just saved me :kissing:  cause I couldn't open Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 anymore. I put them to the allowed programms in Kaspersky and they're running again  <3

Happy to help.

It's Varric who comments that Fenris should cover his tattoos, to which the latter replies that they would still be visible.

What does it say about us that we can remember banter between two video game characters so well? Because I hardly remember what I said yesterday to my husband.

Alright. Mara enjoyed a long walk on the Storm Coast killing bandits with Iron Bull, Dorian, and Varric. Her emotions about the events of the Dark Future had settled down. Nevertheless, the responsibilities she'd been pushing away from this entire time now felt as if they had been warily accepted. With that burden, she trudged back to Haven to finally do her part to close the Breach with the mages she'd conscripted. She did stop by Josphine's office just to have the woman share her big plans for the Organization with Mara. Right. We'll get right on that, Jose.

Spoiler

Mara gave one last glance to the glow in her hand. Would it disappear once the rift that made it also disappeared?

Spoiler

Closing the Breach was a struggle even with the mages. But she could feel a focused energy pushing her efforts. Was this what it felt like to have magic coursing through you all of the time? wow. unfortunately, afterwards, the glow in her hand did not go away. Although to be honest, she wasn't surprised.

Mara took one last shot at trying to convince the people around her that she was just a young woman, no one special.

Spoiler

But honestly, her heart wasn't in it anymore and Cassandra said people weren't buying it.

Immediately, there was a horn blown to signal something was amiss. An army with no banners was attacking. Cullen said he recognized one of the men leading it. (anyone else think Cullen must have some serious hawk eyes to see that far? That was quite a distance.)

Then we met Cole, a very skilled, yet verbally confusing, boy who had a warning for them. It was a tad redundant since ya know...we could see the army just fine... Mara thought Chancellor Roderick's comment summed him up quite well.

Spoiler

Cole told Mara that the Mystery Army Leader and his pet dragon, possibly archdemon, was after her specifically. Anyone else present was just collateral damage.  This was her moment to fulfill her promise to Dark Future Sera and Varric.

Spoiler

Mara did feel a little sick. She was no warrior to look death in the eye with her teeth bared in fury. Cullen questioned her, concerned.

Spoiler

When she didn't answer, just looked away, he mumbled something about her finding a way...Smart man. He knew a death march when he saw one. He organized the escape of Haven as Mara walked out the Chantry doors.

Mara looked up to the darkened sky and saw the dragon.

Spoiler

Was it too late to change her mind? Yeah, too late. Still, it was heart warming that Dorian, Cassandra, and Sera had walked out with her to face the army without so much as her looking in their direction. Dorian even made a flippant comment about how distracting people had always been his forte. Good man. All of them apparently had a death wish, but all good people.

Upon arriving at the Trebuchet and aiming the thing, Mara looked up to see the dragon advancing. Not good! Fire, falling. Ouch.

Spoiler

This was not going as well as Mara had hoped it would. Although, still being alive was a bonus.

A long winded introduction to Corypheous, with a side of dragon glaring, greeted Mara when she managed to stand. He wanted the thing in her hand, and she honestly stated she'd never wanted it in the first place. However, it couldn't be removed. Probably Solas's fault. Mara was summarily thrown against the trbuchet. Another ouch. She scrabbled for the sword on the ground in a pathetic attempt at defense. (this action makes so much better sense when you aren't a mage. Mages have their bare hands and have no need for swords, pathethic or otherwise.)

Then, as it looked like her personal death march would finally reach it's conclusion, she saw the signal that Haven had finished escaping over the tainted Magister's shoulder. She was giddy. She snarked one last time.

Spoiler

Kicked the trebuchet into gear, watched with baited breath to see if they had accomplished the wanted avalanche....

Then, very ungracefully, hightailed it out of there.

Spoiler

----

I'm glad I've mastered the spoiler tag. I've done more, but that's enough narrative this morning. ^^

Just started my new DAO PT (so I can alternate between Greed and DAO) and I forgot how much I hate to distribute attributes

Can't I just have them all balanced please?

In Da2, I would pick the skills and then let it auto level up the attributes. Game maker AI probably knows where those points should go better than I, although I think I stopped again when I realized they were giving to constitution instead of defense. Still wish "Persuade" were still a thing. I loved the hijinks I could get into, persuading people out of their common sense.

I always wondered. Do they have a wife for you to marry if you're a male city elf? I also wonder...do you get taken into the castle with the women? Or are you left behind and then YOU storm the castle? I was very touched when my would be husband stormed the castle for me. Never sold the ring.

I never let it auto-level, who knows where it would put the points.

I'm so glad that is gone, I only picked persuade because you needed it for some quests, because otherwise you'd have to kill someone and I don't want to kill people outside of battles.

I also prefer the whole "Rogues can pick locks by default" in DAI, instead of having to put points into lockpicking.

That's true. I thought survival training was stupid, but never wanted the Halla to die, and would put points into it anyway. And that poor lady in Lothering wanting help with traps and I never had the skills. Other than disarming traps, I am not interested in making traps! or Glyphs!

I like Survival for two things: saving the halla, and being able to tell what enemies (and eventually their levels) are ahead by hovering over the red dots on the map. The nature resistance is just a side benefit. It reminds me of the tracking skills of a Ranger in D&D.

You don't need to have Trap Making in order to disarm traps (unless it somehow helps a non-rogue to detect them?) only to make and set them. I took the first level in order to make traps for whatsherface in Lothering, then later used the re-spec mod to change it to Survival instead. I could still disarm traps, unless I was running too fast to notice them  or a companion barged ahead and triggered them. <_<

True, which is why Deft Hands, Fine Tools, is one of the first perks I take. :) (you can get it pretty fast if you recruit Tanner and Ritts)

I try to stick to dwarven stuff for my dwarven characters.  I have the warden commander armor equipped on Alistair, which he will use until I get a hold of Cailan's armor which is what I will ultimately equip him with.  Killed the dragon but I haven't had wade make anything with it yet since I still want the shop to be available for a while.  When I play as a human warrior I like to equip the dragon armor wade makes on my human characters.

Cunning score as well as Lockpicking rank (for some reason) are what determines it. So, as a rogue, I max Cunning as much as possible. :D

See this thread for more info:
http://forum.bioware...nics-explained/

Also, if you want to do all of the Crime Wave quests (stealth + stealing), make sure your pc has 1 rank of Stealing before heading to Denerim the first time. I only had 1 rank and was able to swipe everything I needed. Stealth, of course, is a given for a rogue.

And today Ramona cleaned the darkspawn out of Heidrun thaig. Whoop. On first try and with a lot of bees. That will be the highlight of the day. She also found a suspicious nug whose skin looked a bit too golden, even if it name plate just said nug. She brutally murdered the beast, just incase, and carved a statue out of it's belly and gold coins from it's hide.  Not the weirdest thing found in a nugs belly, but still.
She also made 3 attempts at killing Kaltenzahn, all ended in horrible death on her side. So Kaltenzahn will live, for now...

Also, Baldur had a quiet walk with his darling Cassandra and two adopted boys (Varric and Dorian) in the Hissing Wastes. It was like a family picnic. That dwarf is so comfy to play, it's amazing.
