Okay you lovely bunch of DA players. I have a question (since so many of you have tried multiple things in your various play throughs): I am back into my "self-insert" PT, and romancing Solas. I know everything is fine (having done the Solas romance a few times before), but I have a question about flirting. In particular, one flirt, with IB.

After he becomes Tal Vashoth, the scene where the Qun lamely "tries" to assassinate him, depending on the dialogue options you take, you can get a Heart Option to appear. It has always reminded me of the flirts one can take with some of the other companions that isn't quite so flirty, but more a sign of caring. I love the dialogue you get with this so-called flirt and have used it without repercussions while in a Cullen romance, but wonder if it will cause trouble with the Solas romance. Never tried it before with the previous Solasmance PT's. For the record, I have already had the fade kiss, the balcony kiss, and the dance at Halamshiral. Am just about ready to head to Adamant.

The only bugged out heart options I have ever read about, was Blackwall's heart option on the battlements - it being a soft-lock and blocking one from romancing either Solas and potentially Cullen (unless you proceed with the Blackwall romance far enough to "break it off").

My guess is that it is fine to take this heart option. But dayum....would really hate to have to do that much backtracking, if it somehow messes with the Solas romance. Normally, I wouldn't worry about this, but this is my one and only (and ever) self-insert. I am trying to really do and [/i]say[/i] things that I would, if I was actually in the game. That dialogue option with the heart, is exactly something I would talk about with Bull - hence why I want to take it. But I also know I am committed to finishing the Solas romance with this PT. And I have no plans to do another self-insert again.

Any help on this front, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for reading and giving info/advice. :)

I have gone with the heart option on the battlements and successfully not romanced Bull after it.  I had my dwarf Gemma kind of defaulted into romancing him - she didn't give the heart response on the battlements but later he still came into her room to give her the business.  LOL!

It doesn't ruin your Solas romance if you choose the heart option during Bull's battlements talk. Inky would just say, "You're still you. You're Iron Bull, Mercenary Captain for the Inquisition." You're already far enough in Solas' romance, so it's not going to accidentally start a romance with Bull if you go with that dialogue option.

Yeah, it's in Blackwall's romance that you get soft lock on battlements. In Bull's case it's more about number of flirts you used. I would be bummed if we got locked with that option. I like it way more than normal one.

In Gemma's case, she was flirting with just about everyone.  She asked Sera to dance with her at Halamsharal, but she was all like, "naw, dog, naw".  Then Josie came out and hung with her afterwards - I didn't have her flirt with Bull there at all (and he was on the mission).  I had her flirt with Josie a couple of times too, but I just can't make myself romance her.  I wouldn't say that I had Gemma flirt with Bull more than Sera.  I really only flirted with him a couple of times, which is why I was so surprised when I just went to talk to him and it triggered the cutscene.

Nothing like being in a romance, and not knowing it. (that was my first PT of DAO - didn't even know that romance was a part of the game. )

Yup...regarding the dialogue. That is why I really like it. I had taken it before, with one of my Cullenmancers, and it didn't break anything. But like I stated, I don't have plans on redoing a self-insert (or large chunks of it), on some silly unseen soft-lock, if that were the case. So thank you for allaying my fears. :)

Ya know, I think that is why this heart option scared me. Started wondering if the Battlements were cursed....a looove curse.

But truly, it is a great dialogue in that scene. I think I have a love/hate relationship with the heart option. :pinched:

Thanks for all the responses. You all rock! (except to Creed... )

Didn't get any good news from the Tavern in Lothering. The circle is said to be overrun by monsters, the Dwarven King is dead, strange beasts wonder the Forests were Dalish are rumored to be camped, and then there's Redcliff. Knights have been sent out in all directions in search of mythical urn, but Redcliff itself has gone silent. Heading to Redcliff first. Alistair assures me the Arl will aid us in uniting the lands against the Darkspawn. The rest though... Trouble...

Had another "dream" last night. The arch demon... I swear it's like it's looking for me. Or maybe it's just Alistiar's cooking... He says it was Lamb and Pea stew, but tasted more like mud.... probably was mud...It was mud... Even the dog wouldn't eat it.... Sten has volunteered to cook tomorrow night. No idea what Qunari cooking is like, but it has to be better than mud.

So...when you reach the Well of Sorrows, does anyone feel the urge to grab Morrigan by the shoulders and just toss her into it? Only me? oh well.
Anyways. Ramona visited the Well of Sorrows and did not take a sip sip. She recognized it as a geas, doesn't understand a word in elvish and of the current entourage, three out of four voted no. And since this is a "democracy" Morrigan got the honors.
Ramona also beat Gurd and Hakkon for their lunch money. Sadly I needed to drop the difficulty to hard and disable walk softly to handle Gurd. (I gave it ten tries). But Hakkon got his tail walked over softly on nightmare. Also got the firestarter achievement, which is very nice.
Then Sera made me cry. She is truly the cutest goblin of them all.

Got a new dialog when visiting his royal majesty of the Deep Roads. I guess Ramona was more murderous towards the nugs than my other characters. Bet she uses the same excuse for the dragons: I wouldn't have to kill so many of them if they weren't always underfoot.
Suuuure you bloodthirsty madwoman you.
If this keeps up I might actually finish her playthrough and thus finish the Inquisition part of that world state after 5 failed tries. Good times.

Went to Cadash thaig and revisted Shale's origins with her.  Did some side stuff died in a fight and forget to save as often as I should.  Gonna have to repeat some stuff.  DAO does not have a good auto save system.

I always put him to work for the Inquisition 'cause I want that cool-down amulet, darn it! Looking forward to siding with mages next game since my last two I went with Templars.

Emma update:

The Deep Roads expedition was a success, but the cost was high. Carver got infected by darkspawn. :( Luckily, Anders knew where the Grey Wardens he got his maps from (ok, stole his maps from) were likely to be exploring and they agreed to take Carver as a recruit. Also, Varric now wants to kill his brother Bartrand for locking the rest of them in the ancient crypt with the demon-infested whatsits and leaving them all to die. <_< Bad brother!

Three years later, Emma is living the high life in Hightown in the old Amell mansion, now known as the Hawke estate. Isabela is still looking for the relic; Fenris is still hiding from/waiting for Danarius; Varric is running the Tethras empire from The Hanged Man; and Aveline is smothering her guardsmen with kindness (and training). Also, the Arishok finally wants something.

I haven't had much time to progress Gwen's playthrough in the last few days, but she did manage a trip to the Shrine of Dumat, on Samson's trail. It was too late to save poor Maddox, but they did find useful  tools and information on how to destroy Samson's armor.

-snip-

Vivi and Iron Bull say you should. (Iron Bull even asks if it was "good for you" if you romance him ;) ). Blackwall might, I don't remember. Wiki says he approves slightly, so.

Cass says no at the Well, but as usual flips her opinion as soon as the choice is made. Silly goose.

Yep, Dorian asks you to go easy on him.  I generally always put him and Servus to work for the inquisition.  Though, in this current game I left Servus to the scavengers.  Trying to make Juliana neutral on mages at best (which is damn hard being adamantly pro-mage as a person).  Also, I've never actually done that.  And I've played through a ton of times.  Erimond gets the sword or tranquility because he is the worst kind of d-bag.

Nymisa's currently running around the Frostback Basin with Bull, Dorian and Sera after clearing the Hissing Wastes, and taking down the last high dragon. Most of the quests are done, it's she just has to go to the Lady's Rest island, battle Gurd Harofsen in the old Tevinter temple and take down Hakkon. THEN!!! The b!tch will kick Samson and Cory-whatever-his-@ss-is to h3ll!

Aside from that, I played my elven DW Assassin, Rikki. He cleared both Adamant and WEWH, plus duelled Lord Ortranto and won Josephine's heart. Unfortunately, I deleted this Inquisitor, because I'm just not into him like my other Inquisitors. Sorry, bud :(

I still have my dwarf DW Artificier, Ishira, but she's on a long break. She's working on ways to prevent Khim from stalking Sera. Adamant is next for her main story wise, but she recently got a letter from the lady Hero of Ferelden threatening her to keep Alistair safe. Ishira likes Alistair as a comrade, she really does, but she can't stand his glutinous habits. Josie's getting p!ssed food import and trade prices are getting more expensive. Plus the culinary staff are demanding raises to their salaries. Nevermind Coryface, trouble continues in Skyhold for this poor Herald...

Got to Redcliff only to find the place had been fending off waves of undead for weeks. We don't really have time to deal with this. Morrigan is against staying to fight off the next wave, but we need Eamon.....

.... Long night, but we survived. Most of us anyway. An innkeeper named Loyd died in the fighting. He left the barricade and ran straight into a mob of monsters. We needed every able body, but I doubt he had ever even been in a fist fight let alone called to defend a village from a zombie raid. Everyone else is fine... relatively speaking. Next we head for the castle. The nobles have a secret passage running under the lake. I'll lead a team through there while the Redcliff Knights wait at the gate.

OH! And, by the by, Alistair is a prince.... The cheese head is a damn prince. Most people would think to mention that at some point... Worry about that later. I'll coat the inside of his helmet with fire salts or something if we survive this.... a royal bastard indeed.

Journeyed back to Ostagar and gave Cailan a proper goodbye, also recovered his armor and equipped it on Alistair.  Getting ready for the final stretch of the game.  Just have to do the Dalish stuff then I head to Denerim for the Landsmeet.   Getting some serious DA burnout though.  Playing DAO helped fight off the initial burnout I felt after my DAI run but the burnout is coming back especially since I am itching to get back into ME since I haven't played any since December.  I've thought about mixing some ME in but I am the type of gamer that focuses on one thing at a time.  I usually don't balance out two games at the same time because one will eventually give out to the other.

Is this like, a discussion you have up in the tower with him prior to sentencing or is there a Judge Throne scene portion I'm missing since I've never sentenced him to death?

If you talk to Dorian in Haven, he says you'll eventually get around to judging Alexius and asks you to go easy on him.  It's actually not much of a discussion, more of a single dialogue line.

Varric the narrator

Spoiler

I hated all the mage outfits for Hawke and was so very glad for the Champion Robes at the end in Act 3. I always thought the Circle Mages wore Uniform is why they dressed like that, but then here I am, Hawke, and I'm wearing a Circle Uniform.

And that exchange? I hug it to bits. I wish I could drag Varric with me more often. I love Varric, but Bianca and I don't get along.
