I've allied mages, conscripted templars, and now I've conscripted mages. Both stories have their strong points. I liked how Dorian talked about Roderick in Champions of the Just, and I think Calpernia is way better than Samson. But between Felix and that epic future scene of sacrifice, I'd have to say I prefer that. Anyway, all things Dorian to follow.

Mara went to have a chat with Dorian in the tower. She was pleased and touched to hear that Felix had championed her before his people.
Mara was glad she hadn't had Alexius executed, even if Fiona didn't agree. psh. Her pleasure in hearing the news was soon ended and she inwardly cried when she heard of his death. Mara said there should be more people like Felix, Dorian agreed, and suggested they start the Cult of Felix. The Story of Felix. The best of us.
After a moment of silence, Dorian seemed done with the discussion but then turned around to say one last thing.
Feeling a bit warm and fuzzy on this inside, Mara headed out of the tower and was waved down by Giselle in the main hall. Wanted Mara to do her a favor.
Since this favor required Mara to lie to what was becoming one of her best friends, she didn't take it into much consideration to do so. Mara hadn't thought much about why Dorian wasn't in Tevinter and instead with the Inquisition. Honestly, so many were joining the organization daily. At the time of his joining, he was personally connected to a person tied to the Breach in the sky and had valuable information regarding the stop of such destruction. She'd never questioned it, but now she was forced to consider that he'd also been running away from something.
That Dorian was a passionate caring man seemed pretty clear.
Still, perhaps it would be good to get to know him a bit further. She sought him out in the tower library again. During their discussions about Tevinter, such as slavery as a social welfare system and "responsible" blood magic, Dorian brought up something interesting and a little odd considering their flirtatious banter since they'd met. Apparently, they were distantly related. Mara said she felt a little weird about it, but Dorian assured her.
Finally, she broached the subject of Giselle's request and told him she had a letter.
Instead, it was a letter from his father, about a retainer waiting for them at a Inn. Dorian's feathers were obviously rufflled, but at the same time he didn't seem to think receiving such a letter made sense either. Mara suggested that perhaps it was a trap.
Goodness, Dorian. Feeling a bit blood thirsty? Is it my fault that just my walking around requires constant deaths by self defense? Still, if it really was his father reaching out...considering Mara's only too recent attempt to reconnect with her mother... Mara suggested he definitely go.
Dorian snapped at her rather harshly that he didn't ask for her opinion. Just as quickly, however, he softened.
Aw. Mara couldn't not forgive that expression and tone.
Off to the Gull and Lantern they went, just Mara and Dorian.
