Question from left field: does anyone else have buttons on the save/load screen get re-arranged? This happened a couple of times as I re-loading a quick save while harlequin stalking but it seems to occur fairly frequently.

I didn't notice. Could it be due to mods if you're using them?

There is one difference I've noted for this current PT in which I am using mods; the load time is longer, almost a minute instead of several seconds. In some instances, cutscenes seemed more complete. Example; after resolving Cole's personal quest and the group returned to Skyhold. I tend to have a chopped off beginning, some words are missing and the group wasn't shown walking in.

On the other hand, I don't know if it's a bug but when I elected to return a sarcastic reply to Florienne during the confrontation at Winter Palace, the Inquisitor's voice didn't come on. I knew she spoke because Doian's approval popped up.

The Tale of Warden Recruit Abelas

A Dalish archer who has just received his Vallaslin.

After Alistair went off to collect another recruit, Abelas was introduced to a Ser Jory from Redcliffe. The man's words were polite enough, but he kept staring at Abelas's ears. Abelas asked that they get on with it. Duncan agreed and told them to perform two tasks. Darkspawn blood (Hadn't Abelas just heard that no one was to touch this blood?) and some important papers that were likely rotting in a box within the Wilds. Abelas was told these papers were not actually part of the Ritual for Joining, but that it was their job to pick it up. The orders rankled; he didn't want to be killing foul creatures in a foriegn place surrounded by racist humans. He also didn't want to be dying....and the feeling of a near fever seemed to be following him closely enough. Fine. Blood and papers. oh- treaties. They were "important." Which, considering all the soldiers preparing for a massive attack, they might just be.

As they walked away, Ser Jory insisted on a more proper introduction. Abelas humored him by asking were he was from. A tournemant, a wife... this man obviously saw himself as some sort of hero. Abelas listened, then suggested they head out. Thankfully, the man agreed, and the gates closed firmly behind them.

Ghilan’nain, Speed My StepsIAbelas prayed to himself. He loosened the two daggers he'd replaced his smaller hunting knives with, and filled his Quiver with the specialty arrows he'd just purchased from the Quartermaster. It wasn't long before a pack of wolves scented them; Abelas hung back as the warrior humans surged forward with their blades. When the opporunity presented itself, he loosed his arrows. Shortly thereafter, the group heard someone call out. A scouting band, attacked by darkspawn, and this man their only survivor. The man was coated in blood, barely capable of sharing his story, and was asking for assitance. Abelas knew that time spent in the wilds wouldn't draw just the wild life, there were confirmed Darkspawn in the forest. This man would likely have to be carried back to the encampment. But Alistair had no patience for his impatience, and banaged the man up. Surprisingly, the soldier managed to limp away afterwards. Abelas felt chagrined; his anger and grief had nearly cost the man his life.

Ser Jory complained about the dead band and our level of danger. Abelas definitely had no patience for this; he was dying. They must push forward and delaying just stole more energy from him. He suggested they push on. Several skirmishes later, they had more dark spawn blood than they needed and a good pile of wolf pelts to head back to camp with. Abelas had to admit that he was dragging, if only to himself, and all too glad that the humans rushed every danger to let him cover from behind. Ah, but there were the treaties to be concerned about...

The ruins most likely to contain the treaties were pretty bad off. Abelas inspected what once may have been a chest, preparing to declare this bit of their adventures a lost cause, when a woman's voice called out. The human woman was dressed rather curiously, and carried a staff at her back that marked her as mage just as it would one of his people's Keepers.

The way she spoke to them... the way that she...prowled. This woman may seem, on the surface, friendly, but she was very prepared for violence if it were called for. Everyone else seemed to be tongue tied, so Abelas spoke up when she asked if they were scavenging. They could not be intruding when these were mere ruins within a wild area of forest. The woman seemed amused. Alistair gave warning and the woman mocked him. After several exchanges, the woman focused on him and praised elves stating that they were usally not afraid. This sudden respectful stance made him shift his response a bit; he shared his name.

The conversation moved on around him but soon came back again. Simply, the treaties were not here. Abelas was ready to return to camp to get on with the Joining that would hopefully end this feverish feeling within him. He said as much, and the witch woman accused him of being petulant and let on that it was her mother that took the treaties. Abelas was suddenly just tired. He didn't feel up to chasing other witch women through the forest. After more insults were shared generously among all involved, they headed to "Mother's". Abelas didn't have much to say about the ensuing circling puzzling conversation with the elderly human woman. Thankfully, the treaties were produced shortly and they could return back to camp in much shorter time than previously, although it was now dark.

The feeling of the camp had changed while they were gone. Hushed, men and women turning listlessly on their bed rolls and staring restlessly into cooking fires. It was the eve of battle for them. Abelas blinked at himself. He was part of this; it was the eve of battle for him, too. Abelas, a hunter of Clan Sabrae, involved directly in the human battle front against a horde of tainted Darkspawn. Abelas scoffed a bit, nostalgic and sad... Tamlen would have loved this.

Abelas shook himself and approached Duncan, as the others had been waiting for him. Odd how the humans seemed to be following him. Perhaps they were too busy watching the Dalish elf to lead themselves. He told Duncan they had gotten the treaties. While Alistair and Duncan discussed the witch woman, Morrigan and her mother, Abelas fought off a wave of nausea. He swallowed back a heave; refusing to be ill before these humans. No one knew he was tainted but Duncan, and he wouldn't have Ser Jory accusing him of vomiting from anxious nerves after Abelas had accused the man of being a coward in the Wilds.

Duncan then turned to the new recruits and warned them that the Ritual could exact a harsh price. Abelas cared little; he was a dead man walking; this was his only chance. Abelas told them he was ready for the Ritual.

OMG I hadn't realized Morrigan's introductory scene in Origins was so well mirrored in Inquisition that it's amazing.  :o

And, of course, this scene gives me giggles.

I also discovered that you could harrass the Chanter in Lothering. That was funny.

The journey of Warden Commander Drako Amell, The Hero of Ferelden: (DA:O, DA:A, and Witch hunt)

The Chronicles of Tyros Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall:

Word of several members of the Carta lurking around the docks reached Varric. Carta usually means trouble for the Merchants guild which means trouble for House Tethras. Not really sure what they were up to so he asked Isabella, Carver, and I to accompany him to find out. It wasn't what was expected. They were here to assassinate a former Dwarven lord. Harrowmont something or other. He offered to pay us to take out the Carta. Those thieves would have eventually turned their attention to some of the shipments at the docks so we had to get rid of them. Didn't mention that the Dwarf though. More coin for the expedition fund...

...Got a full sovereign for our troubles and a few silvers off the Carta. A lucrative morning. (it's insane how important money is in Act1 but by mid Act2 you can drop 30 gold on an item and not care) Spent most of the rest of the morning checking in Merrill, Anders, and Fenris. Merrill and Fenris to make sure they aren't getting into trouble. Anders to make sure he hasn't gone full demon. Merrill seems to be adjusting to life in Kirkwall. Anders is... well... Anders. Fenris is broody as ever. The "Woe is me" routine is getting really old.

On the way out  of Fenris' place, we run into Aveline. She was just coming off her patrols for the day. We were walking back to the Keep when a Magistrate called to me. He heard of me through the Red Irons and was looking for someone to track down an escaped criminal. Wouldn't tell me what the escapee did other than escape, so I assume there is far more to this than it appears. Aveline tagged along as this was really a matter that should have a City Guard involved. We also ran into Isabella on the way out of town. She asked what we were up to. I think she was just bored, so she tagged along too...

...Upon reach the ruins the escaped criminal was hold up in we learned what his crime truly was. Seems he's been kidnapping and murdering elven children. Information shared by the father of his latest victim. This put a new light on things. Once inside we found the girl that was taken. She has a strange telling of the man's behavior. As we had cleared the tunnels behind us, I told her to make a run for the exit. Kelder, the criminal we were sent to hunt down, was just ahead. Though he claimed to be plagued by demons, I felt no demonic aura coming from him. He was simply mad... and the magistrates son. Explains why he's not rotting in a prison. If we took him out of the ruins I had no doubt his father would just cover this all up. He had to be stopped. And it was left to me to do so. He'll never harm another child...

...After returning to the city and informing the magistrate, he did not live up to his end of the bargain. I suppose I didn't either, but it had to be done. If the man wasn't a Magistrate I would have... Doesn't matter. We all go to the Hanged man for some drinks and blow off some steam. Isabella tells me about a friend of hers that's looking for someone to track down something he that was stolen. Seemed easy enough. Which of course meant it wouldn't be. So, after we talk with this Martin, we head back out to the docks. Takes some doing, but we manage to find the cargo. After clearing out the raiders who stole the cargo to begin with, we go through the cargo till we find Martin's crates. Crates filled with some of the most lethal poison in Thedas. Spices and herbs my ass. We go through the rest of the crates and take a few choice items then head back to the hanged man...

...After squeezing as much gold out of Martin as I can, I divide up the spoils and we split up for the evening. I stick around to flirt with Isabella while we play a few hands of wicked grace in her room. I couldn't exactly throw my coin around so we played for clothes. Much more fun... And Carver was wrong. Those curves of hers are not due to leather armor padding under her clothes...

Question from left field: does anyone else have buttons on the save/load screen get re-arranged? This happened a couple of times as I re-loading a quick save while harlequin stalking but it seems to occur fairly frequently.

The first picture is the normal screen. The second one appears to happen when the "back" button doesn't get loaded ahead of the rest and ends up at the far right instead of being the first button on the left. It's very confusing!

YES! But the only reason I know is because by muscle-memory, I just hit the second button from the left to load a game, and the character switch panel would come up? WTF? I just assumed I hit the wrong button, but now it's clear that they switched the buttons on me.

This also happens to me on the World Map screen. There is a totally legit-to-fast-travel-to target selected on the map, but the Travel button is no where to be seen? WTF?

The Arbor Wilds was lush and filled with strange beautful birds and flowers Alaryn had never seen before. There wasn't time to stop to take notes and admire the scenery of gushing waterfalls and clear waters. They fought their way to Mythal's Temple. The sound of fighting beyond the entrance slowed their rush; none of the Inquisition troops nor their allies had made it into the temple which meant there was something else taking place.

They crept in and came upon an astonishing scene; a band of elves on a bridge taunting Corypheus. Alaryn frowned at Morrigan when Corypheus declared they would not keep him from the Well of Sorrows. Morrigan only shrugged; she had no idea what it was. They watched in horrified silence  as Corypheus was buffeted by powerful streams of magic from the statues on the bridge as he walked onto it. Inhuman, Alaryn thought as Corypheus continued to speak calmly rather than scream in the midst of his destruction. Was he denying his own death? He was shredded to nothing in front of their eyes before the statues exploded, killing most of the elves. When they could look again, Calpurnia was already over the bridge and entering the inner sanctum. How did they survive the explosion?

Alaryn walked gingerly over to the bridge and looked around. Corypheus was dead, just like that? Before she could even begin to decide how she should feel, a gargling noise turned the group around. The corpse of a warden twisted, his dead mouth opened to spew a fountain of black blood, his flesh seemed to grow.

"Across the bridge!" shouted Alaryn when the familiar contours of Corypheus appeared. Everything became clear in a flash. How and in what manner he could have survived the battle with Hawke, the explosion at the Conclave and why he wanted the wardens. The scream of a dragon rang out behind them as they raced for the door of the inner sanctum, slamming it shut just in time. The door thudded once and then went still. There was no time to waste, they had to stop Calpurnia.

Cass objected when Alaryn chose to follow Morrigan's advice; complete the rituals to open the main door rather than follow the venatori through the hole they made. But Alaryn felt it must be done. There was something about the place; eyes watching and weighing their every move. If they wished smooth passage, they should respect the customs of the ancient elves. Elves whom they had little knowledge about. She was glad she had chosen to do so when they met Abelas. She doubted he would have believed them and offered a brief alliance if they had just followed the venatori.

Morrigan wasn't so pleased when he declared his intention to destroy the well. The apostate shape-changed into a bird before their astonished eyes to chase after the Sentinel, leaving them to follow an elf so old Alaryn felt must be at least more than a thousand in years. They were led through many rooms, all dedicated to Elven gods. She was exasperated when Cass expressed disbelief that the elves built temples and worshipped nonsensical gods. Who were they to judge when they were apparently the younger race? They had built their civilization upon the bones of a more ancient and powerful race. It was not their place to decide or belittle what they did not know or understand.

They managed to catch up to Calpurnia at the base of the Well. The former slave proved to be amiable and discerning when Alaryn revealed Corypheus's intentions towards her. The flash of anger in her eyes was gratifying when she was shown the proof. More so when she elected not to follow Coyrpheus's order. She would buy them time, she declared. Alaryn didn't care whether she intended to face her former master or not but that she was willing to abandon Corypheus's cause.

Just as Calpurnia and her men left, Abelas arrived with Morrigan hot on his heels. Alaryn raced after them up the steps Abelas had conjured. The Sentinel did not attack, he only looked discouraged and resigned. Morrigan was affronted that he could even think of destroying the Well. Alaryn was all for leaving the Well untouched if not for Corypheus. What should they do with it?

There was no expression on Abelas's face when he commented he sensed a righteousness in her and asked if that was what she wanted; to drink from the well. When Alaryn remained silent, he warned that whoever take the power of the well would be compelled to do the will of Mythal. Morrigan scoffed at the notion; the will of a non-existent being?

Bound as he was bound said Abelas before he cast a last look at them before he left. Although taken aback by the brief revelation of Mythal's murder, a fact that shattered yet another Dalish legend, Morrigan insisted she was the right one to drink from the well. Alaryn wasn't sure who was the right one. None of them, she felt. And yet, the Well could not be left as it was. If they left, Corypheus would simply slaughter the remaining Sentinels and looked for another vessel for the Well.

She walked along the edge of the Well as she considered the water in it. There was weight to it, a reaching. She drew back and saw the rest waiting for her decision. There wasn't much of a choice. Morrigan had asked instead of taking it. Every step of the way, the witch had been rather open with her intentions. Persuasive. Why fight when guile and sentiment was easier? And yet. Alaryn frowned. She beckoned to Morrigan. "The Well is yours."

She was expecting magic lights or something when Morrigan stepped into the well and immersed herself. Instead, the water in the well exploded and rushed out at them. When she looked again, the well was empty but they were all dry rather than drenched. Where did all the water go? Perhaps it wasn't water at all. She rushed down to Morrigan who seemed unconscious. The witch stirred to her calls, muttering elvish and looked confused as she got to her feet. Alaryn watched her worriedly. Was she going mad?

She blinked as dark blue mists rose around her and Morrigan. Whispers reached her ears. Words that she could almost recognised. Words of warning. Something pulled at them to look at the entrance.

"Corypheus," muttered Alaryn before noticing with alarm that she herself was glowing. Why?

"The eluvian!" said Morrigan. Raising her arm, she activated the eluvian.

"Every one to the mirror," said Alaryn, waving at the others urgently. They didn't wait, they dashed in after Morrigan who had already entered.

Alaryn paused to look back. A roar of fury from Corypheus. To her amazement, a swirl of water appeared from the well. In the midst of it, the shape of a woman. Was this a guardian of the well? She didn't wait any longer, she threw herself into the eluvian.

Ugh, Imgur changed the way uploading works so it's "faster" but the pics you upload are no longer saved in the order you selected them. So, in order to try to keep them in chronological order, I'm forced to upload in smaller batches, so it's not really saving me any time.

More from the Deep Roads. I just noticed, or perhaps noted, that the water flooding the area is coming from the top of the cavern rather than from below. So, does that mean the mine is under the ocean? A lake? The Waking Sea?

I'm not entirely clear on whether Varric is just commenting on the art similarity, or if this is a big giant spoiler. I mean, we (the players) know at this point that Solas is Fen'Harel, but until you get to the Darvaarad and find the 4th note, the party/Inqui isn't allowed to figure it out. [PS creepy statue is still creepy ]

Belinda - A Miracle In Crestwood!

I was a little worried that glitching around Caer Bronach, so that I could complete Still Waters first and then come back to capture the keep in daylight, might glitch out the game. But looks like I lucked out!

First a couple of moonlit scenes from Crestwood.

Spoiler

Then some daylight scenes capturing the keep! Such fun. It was like a whole new quest.

Spoiler

Finally, a video of the entire Caer Bronach take-down.

I've taken the fort at night during the plauge situation thing and went in the back door. I think it's possible to complete the main town issue without taking the fort.

2. How does your view of magic differ from DA magic?

It's one of the things I've always liked about the DRAGON AGE franchise is how important magic is to the universe. It's mainly used as how we view race or religion in the real world. Most of society in dragon age towards blood mages are like "BLOOD MAGES!? RUN! THEY ARE EVIL!" when some are like Dorian. Dorian is just a normal joe shmoe trying to live his life the way he wants. I mean seriously people can be so judgemental towards mages in the franchise which makes the franchise seem to real.

I was asking specifcally about the events of Inquisition. From the Conclave Explosion to the battle with Corypheus. After the party, they skip ahead, what, 2-3 months and whomever is Divine and people comment on it. Then you can jump to Trespasser, which I know is a 2 year time jump.

So, what I'm wondering is.... Conclave explosion to post Cory is how many months? DAO is said to happen over one year and the Warden and company were only walking over all of Fereldan. But then it didn't seem like we had horses in that game, but then, I kind of assumed we did, we just didn't see them. Shale can't ride a horse though...well, anyway. you get my point.

I'm honestly going to have to research this. i would like to say a year but I could be wrong. I would have to play DA 2 and DAI to know how to answer. as far as main game from DAI to TRESPASSER I cannot answer this since BIOWARE has continued to fail to offer it for the XBOX 360. However I am sure from DAO to DAA it's a year since the establishment if your warden survived.

I was watching all the trailers for Dragon Age Inquistion on Youtube as I wasn't around for the anxious leadup originally. (Does that scream fan or what)

And come to find that Isabella is in Multiplayer? Color me Interested.

I got DAI when it was new and got the pre-order stuff which was worth it. BTW Isabella is a good multi player character. I kind of prefered other classes though.

Post Arbor Wilds continued:

I think since my epiphany about Vivviene, I am coming to like her. Crazy stuff.

I always liked Vivianne since my first playthrough. She seems kind of mysterious and has agendas up the wazoo but she always seems well to my inquisitor. Honestly I liked her over Solas. Solas honestly is a selfish, self centered, racist jerk needing a punch in the face. Even though it proves why he hates people but I hate feeling used to satisfy only him. I want my posse to feel happy too. Also F him for his hate of Sera.

Andariel is an elf (Solasmance) but I think it fits her story better to skip JoH. Since she was my first Inquisitor, a lot of things....eh, didn't go well?

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, she didn't do In The Elements so Hinterlands refugees likely froze (since, you know, no one else *in the world* can wander the countryside looking for supply caches <_<);

her clan was massacred in Wycome;

she allied with the Wardens but they ended up getting massacred in the mountains;

and, oh yeah, Solas left her for reasons.

So she's basically done with this Inquisition thing. Yeah, she helped the dwarves because "Disaster!" but JoH is just some research nerd wanting help and she's not really into that. Maybe if she was a mage but she's just a dagger-spinning assassin and doesn't have time for that intellectual crap.

So, on to Trespasser it is.....

No quarms here. I just usually do JOH first for levels and better gear first. Makes the rest of the game like the Arbor wilds on really easy but oh well.

I have to replay the Lothering Quests because I realized my Abelas would free Sten, but would not let him join the party.  :(  I was hoping for an all non human companion set up this game. If Abelas rejects Shale, Fen'harel the Dog may be playing most of the game with Abelas to keep the goal.

*plays through it again* Wow. Opening the cage but not letting him join is horribly dissatisfying.

*reloads. Picks appropriate dialogue options that make it seem more like Sten is insisting on joining consensually for his goal of atonement rather than being conscripted* That feels better. Although the 2nd time, for some reason it wouldn't just let me pick the lock, so I had to go talk to the Chantry mother, which Abelas had no interest in doing... But I did find out more about Abelas.

  • It's okay to lie and steal from humans but not to kill them willy nilly. Consistent with his not killing those humans in the forest.
  • Abelas is not prone to violence, but will threaten in warranted cases. If Abelas starts losing patience, a companion can speak up and talk him out of violence.
  • Abelas is absolutely against imprisonment and execution via starvation or Darkspawn.
  • If ethically questionable and odd ball people insist, he will let them join the quest. I can't remember if Shale insists.

In the end, I got Sten after all. Silly me, but I'm still glad I replayed. Extra funny thing; Leliana approved of my lying to the Chantry Mother. Hilarious.

Also of note: not a single Irish/Welsh/Scotish or otherwise non-American accent to be heard from anyone in the entire clan. WTF did they do to the Dalish in DA2?!

Just finished the Korcari Wilds and am now back at camp ready for the Joining.

I hadn't realized Merril and Pol were in the Dalish Origin. Or rather, I'd forgotten their names? Poor Pol (in DA2) :( So much for a new life. I guess he had, what, 7 years out of the Alienage?

----

oh my gosh! I got the scene where Shale kills a chicken!! :D :P B) I never knew. I also love Fenharel the Dog. He growls. He will definitely stay with me whole game. Abelas is quite taken with him, and he's the only creature Abelas trusts completely.

I'm torn about kicking Alistair from the party. He's the only other Grey Warden, and more knowledgeable about such things, but I want to go 100% human and mage free this game. I even told Morrigan to leave. That hurt my feels but I made myself feel better by promising to be extra good friends with her next time I play. Anyway, I guess I'll cannon something up to kick him out; Oghren will be replacing him when I get to the Deep Roads...err... well, Maybe after the deep roads. Seems cannon stupid to not take only experienced Grey Warden to the Deep Roads. But after that? He's gone!

----hours later---

Aww. My Abelas found his motivation. Maybe this won't be so difficult after all. :P

The journey of Warden Commander Drako Amell, The Hero of Ferelden: (DA:O, DA:A, and Witch hunt)

The Chronicles of Tyros Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall:

Aveline came by today and told me about a woman asking around about her missing brother. He was a Templar recruit. As it concerns the Templars, I really should avoid the situation, but Aveline was earnest in her appeal for me to look into the matter. She said the guard had tried to look into it, but  the Templars weren't being of any help. Though dangerous, I couldn't help but be curious. If Templar recruits are disappearing it could lead the Templars to be more... vigilant. That would be even more dangerous for me. I take Carver with me (and Varric and Anders) and talk to this desperate woman. She explains her concerns and points me to the Gallows. I dare not  address an officer. They would spot me for a mage in a heart beat. The other recruits are another matter. Their biggest worry is "Does my sword shiny bright enough for inspection?" They weren't hard to spot... we are told about another recruit that had disappeared and returned. He was said to be wandering the coast. It was a long shot, but if anyone knew what happened to Karen, my missing Templar, it would be him...

...When we catch up to the other recruit, Wilmod, we find him being threatened by the Knight Captain. Seemed to be handling the Wilmod a bit rough, but the situation quickly exploded. Wilmod had been taken over by a demon some how. It summoned more demons to it's side and attacked. Even Knight Captain Cullen was overwhelmed by the sight. The battle was fierce, but we defeated them. Cullen had no idea what had happened to Wilmod nor the whereabouts of Karen, but he did have a lead. The Blooming Rose. We head back to see where this lead will take us...

...We discover a blood mage in the brothel. She had been enchanting recruits and sending them off to be possessed. She claimed not to know what was being done to them, but she was of some use. She told me where she had been sending the recruits. I couldn't just leave her behind though. She tried to kill me. Couldn't just hand her over to the Templars, no telling how many she has enchanted already. She was too dangerous. She was.. dealt with and we went looking for this base of theirs. If Karen was there, it would only be a matter of time before he too ended up like Wilmod...

...The place was crawling with demons and undead. We fight our way through all sorts of horrors until we eventually find Karen and the mad leader of this conspiracy. She has been forcing demons into recruits for maker knows how long. There was only so much of her babble I could stand. We kill them all. Not that they gave us a choice in the matter, but we would have had to do it anyway. We couldn't leave them to their own devices. Meredith would have shoved a Blade of Mercy through each of their hearts and had all the fodder she needed to crack down even harder than she was already. They had to be stopped here and now. Once they were dead, Karen was released from his bonds. I sensed no Demonic aura coming from him, but it doesn't mean there wasn't a beast hiding within him. Cullen must be told of the possibility that Karen could be possessed...

...We discuss the situation with the Knight Captain. He is naturally disturbed by the news. I almost expected him to wet his dress. I convince him not to kick Karen out of the order for something that "might be". With this over, I gladly leave the Gallows. The place is just unnerving. Carver and I hit the Low Town bazaar to pick up some dinner and head home. With this job, we reached our goal of funding for the expedition. We'll approach Bartrand soon. I'll let Varric decide when to actually do that. For now, the day is done and it's time to unwind. I may hit the Hanged Man after dinner.

Well, I'm nearly finished with the Frostback Basin, and Adoribull hasn't happened yet.  All I have yet to do is the night raid, kill the dragon, and recover Ameridan's memories.  I've taken the long way to do everything, only using fast travel once when I couldn't find my way out of the swamp, and thought the banter would fire more often than it does.  It would have helped if I didn't have Blackwall along, but having just Bull and Dorian would mean certain death.  As it is, Blackwall has to carry upgraded healing mist grenades for one or the other of them.  I really have to craft Dorian some new armor.

Does banter trigger in the Arbor Wilds?  I still have to do there too, but I was hoping to get them together in the Basin.  Oh well, I probably will miss that then, unless something amazing happens while we're traipsing around the long way doing the memories.

Dialogue regret of the day: Dragon Age Origins.

I was just thinking about how much of an ass Alistair can be to the PC, when I remembered this exchange:

"Alistair: You don't really want to hear about me being a templar, do you? It's quite boring.

Warden: I do want to know, yes.

Alistair: Poke, poke, poke! Tell me everything about your life, Alistair! It's not like we have anything important to do, right?"

What I resent isn't so much the snark, but the implication that the Warden is a fool that isn't focused on the mission.

I should have picked the option "Don't answer, then" which ruins his fun and forces him to answer seriously.

But that was hours ago gameplay wise and it's too late to change it.

My Dalish Warden got Dog today.

I named him Fenharel. :D

I'll be honest, that choice makes no sense to me.

Asha'bellanar is revered by the Dalish with some mixed feelings, since she isn't always kind. However, their view on Fen'harel is purely negative.

It's like a Jew naming his dog Hitler. In that case it would be likely intended as an insult, but certainly not "my dog is cool and badass".

That said, my Dalish Warden named him "Suledin" on account of the latter's recovery from the taint.

My Dalish Elf thought more along the lines of trickster. A trickster is intelligent, and does unexpected things. People expect a dog; what I have is a Mabari.

I dunno; does my role play really got to extend to Dog's name? It amuses me. "Fenharel wags his tail." I could also cannon that it's a way to mock the Trickster God of my people. I can cannon it not being completely out of character either. My Elf's childhood friend died and his Dalish life and expectations destroyed. He will die soon in this Blight or young later of the taint. What more could Fen'Harel do?

I picked his particular vallaslin based on looks. But my guy doesn't adore Halla; Gillanain (sp) is the Goddess of Navigation and speedy safe travel, two things that should also be important to a hunter..

The Dread Wolf? Hes name good for a dog. People do not always give a friendly name to the dogs, especially to a war hound. Fen'harel was a mythical figure.
