I've already sign up but it's more cranky for me, keeps asking me to login every time I go there and then it doesn't recognise my password so I have to jump through hoops just to get in.

scratch that, Proboards is whanky. I'm jumping through hoops for all of them being on the same host. I'm annoyed. Now I have to do the same stupid thing for Dfans.

That's odd? I've been logged into DAfans since yesterday and haven't had to log in since?

----

It's hard to post here, knowing it's all going to get deleted. Like how I shouldn't -share- my stuff with BSN. Like I wouldn't bake cookies for an ex that was moving his stuff out of my apartment.  <_<

Might have something to do with "remember me" thingy. I can't find anything in profiles to enable it. The boards will "forget" me after a day, I think.

There should be a little checkbox when you log in, under the username/password thingy. At least it is on the "real dragon age fans" forum.

And it should be under the username box on the bioware social networks one.

----

As for what I did today in Dragon age. Not much, looked at a few forums and signed up on one or two.

Am still in a bit too much shock to play the game. But a few days ago Hrotti finished the city missions in Orzammar and now he's dying in the Deep Roads, so that might be another reason why I'm not eager to turn the game on. :P

Oh it is for the old BSN but not for the new one. I did check the box when I tried to sign in and then the thing completely refuses to recognise my password no mater what I tried; hence, the hoops I've to go through to "change" password.

P.S. I'm getting some..interesting feedback concerning the alternate BSN. I'm going to hang out more at DAfans site, lurk at the new BSN and see the development.

I spent all day copying posts. Ugh, why did I write so much?! Got Tanith saved, and then the DLC treks for a few more quizzies added. Now I'm up to DAO Talia (I forgot I also played a couple of Wardens too).

No idea which forum I might use after this one goes away. They all look pretty sparse (content-wise) and cluttered (graphics-wise) to me. Kind of just don't care at this point.

I am in too good a mood not to post this

I wanted to ride the bull.

I rode the bull.

A mechanical bull that is.

Thing is, I saw and I was like, "nah". But then a friend said, "Have you ridden the bull?"

And I was like... Now I have to because Dragon Age.

:P

Did anyone check out this site? http://fextralife.com/forums/f95/

I like the layout and content so far. Maybe this thread can also be setup there. For now, I have a profile at uBSN, but also looking at realDAfans and keeping my options open.

On topic, I saved all of my Inquisitor's adventure stories on separate documents. Reading back on some of them (ie. Rift Mage Demetria and tyrant Reaver Alessandra II), makes me want to start a run with a new character. I haven't played DA for a while.

Met Morrigan in the palace, and she gave me the key to the servant quarters. That girl really needs to see a hairdresser in town.

Approval is now 95, and I have 10 more secrets after meeting Morrigan. I haven't done so well with either the halla or the coins, so I'm unlikely to finish either of those quests. Approval will come down a little looking to get into the secret room in the Grand Library, but I feel ok about finishing this quest tonight.

I don't know... Are those places BioWare's official forum? Because you have to admit, none of fan-created sites/forums are going to be as busy as this one. People will scatter between places or just give up.

Ah, yes. Because reddit is such a wonderful place *rolls eyes hard* Great "toxicity" of this forum seems to be some kind of outside knowledge, since I never found this place more toxic than others.

Sorry if I'm a bit blunt, but now that first shock and sadness faded, I'm just angry.

Also afraid that Spork will not see my message about BSN closing in time to say goodbye to this thread.

And Gaider (on twitter) is like "lol people feel entitled to having a forum".

It's not so much that as the lack of a solid reason to shut it down.

You are absolutely right about that. Looks like the Blanketfort, a big permathread like ours, is migrating to RDF. I'm liking fextralife better. A bunch of people are going to uBSN. So the fracturing has begun.

Since everyone is spreading to the four winds anyway, it seems like the most sensible thing to do would be to just make networking between all these different subgroups as simple as possible. I suggest that the mods of these different forums make a pinned thread dedicated to directing people to all/most of the other options. It would strengthen a sense of community between forums and hopefully diminish a sense of competition.

The forums options I know of:

VSN (the original off topic lifeboat) -
http://vroomvroom.freeforums.net/

TSG (conceived as a site for gameplay streaming, it also serves as an alternate off topic) -
http://topshelfgaming.boards.net/

uBSN (Run by Cassandra Saturn)

RDF

Fextralife:

  • I've joined RDF; it seemed at first glance that it was very friendly and Obsidian Gryphon had joined.
  • Joined http://biowaresocial...ork.boards.net/ , still following Obsidian, but then heard lots of bad things about the Cassandra Saturn Persona.
  • I'm also eyeing the "made from scratch" forum: http://fextralife.com/forums/f95/
  • Reddit apologized for being ban happy and have issued an official welcome; but i think they burned themselves, because a lot of people immediately started looking for a replacement in the first 36 hours and were greeted by the branding of interloper on their page.

Cross posting will be likely to occur.... there is still 23 days until it goes Read Only for a month then nothingness. I, personally, had to find a place soon because I will be going offline for like a solid week followed by less computer time in general...and just didn't want to worry too hard about it. I'm saving what I definitely want to save. I'm kind of attached to RDF already, but would not be angry if I have to go to both RDF and Fextra to get all my fandom needs met.

Luckily, I was emailing my writing to husband all along, since he's not on these forums, so I don't have to go back 100+ pages to get it.

ooooo! Do you play all three in order?

Wolf Deer!  :P

----

I have to replay the Lothering Quests because I realized my Abelas would free Sten, but would not let him join the party.  :(  I was hoping for an all non human companion set up this game. If Abelas rejects Shale, Fen'harel the Dog may be playing most of the game with Abelas to keep the goal.

*plays through it again* Wow. Opening the cage but not letting him join is horribly dissatisfying.

*reloads. Picks appropriate dialogue options that make it seem more like Sten is insisting on joining consensually for his goal of atonement rather than being conscripted* That feels better. Although the 2nd time, for some reason it wouldn't just let me pick the lock, so I had to go talk to the Chantry mother, which Abelas had no interest in doing... But I did find out more about Abelas.

  • It's okay to lie and steal from humans but not to kill them willy nilly. Consistent with his not killing those humans in the forest.
  • Abelas is not prone to violence, but will threaten in warranted cases. If Abelas starts losing patience, a companion can speak up and talk him out of violence.
  • Abelas is absolutely against imprisonment and execution via starvation or Darkspawn.
  • If ethically questionable and odd ball people insist, he will let them join the quest. I can't remember if Shale insists.

In the end, I got Sten after all. Silly me, but I'm still glad I replayed. Extra funny thing; Leliana approved of my lying to the Chantry Mother. Hilarious.

Truthfully I usually play them in order: DAO->DAA->DA2->DA 2 DLC's->DAI->DAI DLC's.

The only exception I made was going from DA 2->DA 2 DLC's to the DAI stuff was because I threw out Moonphase (female human mage that was EEEEEEEEEEEEVIL) due to needing enough memory for DAO's DLC's that i got from a friend of mine since he had the special edition which included all the DAO DLCs and I had only a couple purchased (Morrigans, Liliana's, I think return to ostagar) online. I had to temp create Moonphase again (made her the way I remembered her) then go to DRAGON'S KEEP seevral hours later (took me that long for her to register in their system) and put in everything I remembered doing (which wasn't hard since I didn't some pretty foul stuff in DAO like sleeping with the elven male guy in the dalish storyline, break him up with his girl, then kill them afterwards by siding with the werewolves). Then I created my Hawke (Lightwind) like normal and played/finished DA2/DA2 DLC's then hop over to DAI (Chasimess). I kind of regret not keeping Vatoria (dalish elf female warrior) from DAO because she was my only dead warden but I've been iffy doing a storyline on that route. I started DAO a few months ago and just haven't touched it and chose to hop back into finishing Ullia Mint Tooth. I haven't touched any of my DAI characters or DAO people (let alone unfinished ME 1-3 people ) in quite some time. I am tempted but been juggeling games more than anything else. Besides if I were to get a PS4 for Xmas I may get that special Ed DAI so I can play trespasser and descent since i'm continued to be denied those DLCs.

So i finished three games

-Fourth Game is going to be a Sera Romance finisher

-Fifth game is Solas's romance

-Sixth game is Sera's romance

- Seventh game is Blackwall's (with a Warrior Cadash)

- Last but not least is Iron Bull's one, because I really don't want to his....

Which reminds me I need to romance the following still:

-Blackwall
-Iron Bull (fully.
Spoiler
).
-Solas
-Josephine (fully if possible)

Everyone else I have done.

Might have something to do with "remember me" thingy. I can't find anything in profiles to enable it. The boards will "forget" me after a day, I think.

From May-July for me it has been impossible to log onto this website. I would be constantly kicked off this website and logged out and would have my internet connection booted off due to "website security reasons". coincidently happened before, during, and after E3 when BIOWARE showed a plugging vid of ME A. It was impossible for me to do anything on this website.

Yeah, I heard bad things about CS too that's why I'm not actually going to hang around the alt BSN.

RDF is friendly but I wish the layout is of a darker theme. I actually don't like the huge column on the left. The gif some put for their sigs is also rather large and distracting, taking up almost half a post if it's only one line. I wish they're smaller.

Fexalife looks good, appeals to my "warrior" self; blood and guts!  :P  :D

P.S. Damn, I'm actually leaning towards Fex because of the dark theme. Swords!!!! Charge!!! ...   I put in a suggestion for a dark at RDF, not sure if they'll try to design one. The white can be jarring on the eyes.

Pondering deleting my account already on the Cass Alt BSN

Regarding RDF, I get that the art is fan made, but after living on BSN, it does lack that glossy professional look I've gotten used to.

The phone page for Fextra is awful; I originally didn't want to go there at all based on that. But then Papacharlie mentioned it being good and I was like, What? Desktop version is massively better looking. It had the professional gloss I was hoping for.

In the end, it may depend on moderators? I noticed the Smut section on RDF was NSFW, for example, and that appeals to me. I hadn't seen a Smut section on Fextra, but would they allow it? I already know RDF does.

Edit Add:

Quote: I noticed in the settings there's a feature to let people pick a theme, though for now there's only the default one, maybe if it is really an issue you could set up some alternative night theme and let people pick their favourite from there

Autumn witch liked the above comment, so she's probably considering it.

Don't think you can reduce the signature size but you can disable them in the edit profile -> settings on the RDF site. If that helps :)

Finished copying all my DA drivel into character files. Not sure if I want to tackle my Shepards or not. I think I need to do something else after two straight days of copy/paste/delete/save rinse and repeat.

I'm doing the copy paste thing, except it's of forum threads .So much to save.... So, I haven't touched Abelas at all, even though my computer keeps reminding me I'm out of space due to FRAPS videos.

I think you would feel a lot better if you picked out a forum. I know I felt like everything was going to be okay today when I was in the DAF Cullen thread and we were swueeing together and talking about which Alistair was better looking.

Heard about the Blanketfort. People from original RDF are amazing, but I feel like this forum will not be as concentrated on BW games as I would like to (still, saved link for Spork, since he is part of it).

I'm thinking about fextralife as well. Reminds me of old forums I used to hang out aroud *nostalgia*

Was thinking about uBSN, since many are heading there, but hearing about creator of this site makes me wonder how long it'll last.

There's also http://bsn.boards.net/ Nothing fancy for now, but run by Cyonan (someone I'm willing to put my trust in). And boy, that help for MEAMP that might come from that forum!

I've decided on RDF. Their layout is different, it's user friendly, and I just like it. BSB just doesn't appeal to me. Too plain and uninteresting. I do like the Fex theme, but the "BIOWARE, A Division of EA" in the header pisses me off every time I see it. Joining EA is when Bioware started it's downward trend for me.

I'll keep hanging around here until it closes down and setup on RDF after.

(Continuing with the theme of the thread)
The journey of Warden Commander Drako Amell, The Hero of Ferelden: (DA:O, DA:A, and Witch hunt)

The Chronicles of Tyros Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall:

Met with Merrill this morning for our weekly brunch. Brought her some Blue Berry muffins. They always put a smile on her face. When I arrive she tells me there is something I need to see. There is a giant mirror sitting in her bed room. She seemed quite taken with it, so I assumed it was more than just a mirror. She called it an Eluvian. Some old elven artifact. It's suppose to be a magical mirror, but whatever it's suppose to do it's not doing it. She asks for my help in speaking with the Keeper in acquiring a tool to repair the mirror. I wasn't sure what to make of this, but it meant alot to Merrill. After some prodding and her puppy eyes, I agree to help her. After finishing off a few muffins, we head out for the mountain. Bump into Anders and Fenris on the way out. The were having a spirited... discussion... about the "Mage/Templar situation". Before either of them start to flare bright blue, I ask them to come along with us. Merrill very nervously says, "...Really...?" I just wanted to get them out of the area before the Templars or city guard came snooping...

...After making Merrill's plea  we are given a task to fulfill in exchange for the tool Merrill needs. There is a Varterral near by that has killed a number of the clan's hunters. We have been asked to slay it... Not that I knew what this creature was nor what it even looked like.  Merrill seemed certain so we headed out to where the beast was last spotted. A series of caves near by. We searched the pathways for over an hour fighting our way through spiders and undead before we found the beast. It had just claimed it's latest, and last, victim. After a short argument with the Keeper, she eventually hands over the artifact. An odd looking knife of sorts. Some of the argument between Merrill and the Keeper was concerning  but other than "Bad Merrill" you weren't going to get anything out of Marethari. We left for the city soon after. The other clan members were giving us a foul look. I don't really understand what's going on, but it's clear that this is what drove Merrill from her clan...

After things with Merrill were squared away, I ran a few errands and then dropped by the Hanged Man. Isabella wanted a word. Seems she got another lead on her missing relic. Her leads usually end up with someone digging around in sea weed, but she seemed excited about this one. She asked me if I would go with her to check it out. She never has told me what this thing was, but I know she knows. She just doesn't want to tell me. I agree to help her. Maybe if I keep her talking, something will eventually slip. Then I notice Varric over in a corner glaring into a fire place. When I go over to see what's wrong, he tells me that he believes Bartrand is back in town. I find it hard to believe, but Varric's information is rarely wrong. Never when it's something this important. Isabella's relic will have to wait. This bastard is not escaping again!...

...We meet with Varrics contacts and get a run down on the mansion Bartrand is said to be staying in. A wealthy merchant like Bartrand should have the place clean and guards outside every door and inside every window, but the place looks like it has been abandoned for months. I can feel an dark aura around the place... something is in there...Nothing good though. We enter through the service passage and storm our way through the halls. The place is crawling with mad men and corpses. We find only one servant still alive. Not sure how much of what he said that could be believed. He was obviously traumatized by something. When we finally find Bartrand, he's barking mad. Ranting about voices and "feeding the idol". I suddenly realize what the dark aura around the house is. It's the same as what I felt coming off the statue we found in the Deep Roads. It's weaker, but it's definitely coming from Bartrand. It's infected him somehow and robbed him of his mind. What the hell was that thing?

There is little choice. Either we leave him to his insanity, or put him down. Killing him was always the likely outcome, but this what not how I saw things turning out. Whatever that Idol did to him, he won't be a danger to anyone else anymore. Varric would never show it, but I know he is heart broken. Before he died, amid his rantings, Bartrand mentioned a woman he sold the Idol to. The servant we found said that the reason they came back to Kirkwall was to get it back. Whatever poor soul has that blighted thing, Bartrand clearly believed them to still be in the city. Varric intends to search for this person. I don't know where the idol is and I don't want to know, but if it's in the city then it's a danger to everyone around it. We spread word through our respective contacts to keep an eye out for it... I hope we never find that damned thing... We return to the Hanged Man and I drink with my friend into the wee hours of the morning...

...I wake up a little past noon in one of the back rooms with a splitting head ache. Isabella stands at the door, "Well you're a fine mess aren't you?" After I pull myself together enough to walk, I drag myself home and Bodahn helps me up the stairs to my room. I don't know what we were drinking last night, but I can't even see straight. I'm just lucky the streets were mostly empty. Crowded streets are not a good place for one who can only see through one blood shot eye... Andrates flaming ass... I swear I am never drinking again...
