When I played the templar route Ser Barris died. I am thinking that I didn't make the senior templar quest with enough time to spare or something. I like him too.
 
Bioware need to provide a little reboot muzak

I maaaaay have used the game guide for pointers on that one.   Each time I found one of the Templars I raced back to the main room to help, then waited until the health bar was full before heading off again. According to the guide, if the bar depletes you get a game over and have to restart; if it gets below 30% then Barris will be critically injured and later die.

I've been on a roll making fan videos for Dragon Age: Inquisition.  Did I mention how much I love this game??  I haven't actually played the game in the past few days, though, heh.  I'm wondering what kind of Inquisitor I should roll next.

Today, Harold and his drinking buddy, The Iron Bull, took a break from (re)killing undead in the Exalted Plains and went for a walk in a swamp. Wasn't a whole lot going on in this particular swamp, unless you want to count the eight or ten Gurguts, the Dead Hand dungeon, the two rifts dropping demons all over the place, a rogue templar on Cassandra's hit list, and... oh yeah... The Gamordan Stormrider. 

 

 

The exchange went something like this:

 

Harold: So... what do you wanna do? 

Bull: I dunno. What do you wanna do?

Harold: I dunno. What do you wanna do?

Bull: I dunno. What do you wanna do? 

Harold: I dunno. What do you wanna do? 

Bull: I dunno. 

Harold: That dungeon was something else, huh? 

Bull: Yeah. Yeah, sure it was. I dunno how you figured that one out without baldy. 

Harold: Dumb luck, I guess.

Bull: I guess.

Harold: Elves. 

Bull: Hrmph. Elves.

Harold: So... what do you wanna do?

Bull: I dunno. What do you wanna do?

Harold: Well, I found this treasure map. It leads to something called Halin'sulahn. 

Bull: Bah, more elvish stuff. 

Harold: Yeah. I guess so. Sounds like it.

Bull: Can we do something else? Had enough elvish for one day. 

Harold: Sure. What do you wanna do? 

Bull: I dunno. What do-

Vivienne: Shut up, darling. 

Bull: Uhh... *ahem*. Yes, Ma'am. 

Harold: Want to kill a dragon? 

Bull: I thought you'd never ask. You're the best boss, boss!

Vivienne: What was that, darling?

Bull: I meant you, ma'am!

Cassandra: *rolls eyes*

 

Ahh, it was an epic fight! I remembered the first time I fought this beast, and I thought it would be a much tougher battle, but ... Holy crap. Tempest archers are great dragonslayers. I may have mentioned this before I left Bull, Vivienne, and Cassandra to do whatever it is they do during dragon fights. I dunno what it is, but they're good at it. Harold went to work trying to target one leg to hobble the beast, since it worked so well against the Abyssal High. 

 

The Gamordan Stormrider must have heard of this tactic, though, because she wouldn't stay still and Harold kept auto-switching which leg he was targeting. But the Stormrider wasn't the only one with new tactics. Fire Flask + Leaping Shot + repeat, all the while Bull and Cass are slicing at her, and Viv is keeping up those barriers. At half-health Stormy took off, so Harold just tried to keep up with her and shoot. Hell, he even managed to hit her a couple times, heh.

 

Repeat above tactics until Stormy was nearly dead. Somehow she found the strength to fly away one last time. She circled. Harold shot at her. She circled some more, angling into position. She came straight at Harold, intending to zap him into nothingness. It's not Harold's fault she couldn't see that he had full guard and health Closer she got. Then Harold tried his latest -- and perhaps greatest -- idea. Stormy wasn't the only one with lightning in a bottle (so to speak).

 

Lightning Flask + Full Draw and he hit her right between the eyes while she was still in-flight

 

She was dead before she hit the ground. It was glorious.

 

To celebrate, Harold is gonna skip the rest of the undead on the Plains (for now), and he's gonna skip the snooty elves, too (for now), and instead he's gonna take his girlfriend to a masquerade Ball at the Winter Palace. Viv is coming, too. But not Bull. He hates these kinds of things. He's gonna stay at Skyhold and get drunk with the Chargers. I'm betting Dorian would love to join us.

I've still only got Tier 1 focus, so only get 12 hits or something. Tried it once, and cut a fair bit of health off her, but I dunno... maybe I'm not doing it right.

Hah, I didn't mind him so much, except when my elf Inquisitor walks up to him, he got this weird smile and says something like "Why would anyone want to look like that?"

 

Rude. He definitely takes after his mother!

You could still abuse the fact that fire flask makes it a free skill, no focus used.

And get pincushion passive.

And Lightning flask first so you extend the time of the fire flask.

I just stumbled upon a rather intimate moment between Dorian and Cullen. That must've been awkward for my Quisitor.

The chantry elected super hardened Leliana as Divine.
Hah. I supported no one, it's their own mistake they've now elected a person whose most developped skill is murder.

So glad I had him remove the Valaslin.

My next adventure will start with a massive struggle in the character creator. I'll try to make a male Dwarf I can live with. If I don't succeed in that the next couple of days, I'll do the female Qunari mage I have planned... but that would be my 4th mage and I really, really need to play a warrior.

I went back to the Hinterlands to get powerpoints to go to Crestwood. There were no Templars and mages fighting and no rift at the entrance to Redcliffle. 

 

Now that I have enough power points, I will head to Crestwood with my level 8 warrior

Explored the Knight's Tomb in the Emerald Graves and retrieved the account of what happened at Red Crossing in what started the war between the Dales and Orlais. 

 

Saved my game then took it to the Chantry, then loaded my game and took it to the Dalish to see what the difference is. 

 

The Chantry is guilty of whitewashing history when given the evidence and venerate the elf who took on a human lover as a convert despite the evidence clearly saying he wasn't converting, just saying the words to be with his love and the elves feared he was a traitor and was trying to confront him when things went fubar, and the elves acknowledge that both they and the humans of Red Crossing were at fault and send a mourning halla to Red Crossing as a way to apologize for their part in the incident. 

 

The whole thing made more more pro-elf than pro-chantry once I compared and contrasted the different responses by both groups.

Yeah, but the scholar you gives it to talks about the importance of history and how the chantry can learn from it. Vivienne, who was with me when I got it said that the chantry could use this history since elsewhere in the Emerald Graves it's made clear in another codex that no one knows what happened. 

 

I get that people whitewash history. The dwarves do it in the memories by erasing things that are inconvenient, I knew the chantry did it with the dissonant verses alongside that one priest who adamantly denies there was a canticle for an elf in Haven despite us knowing that the Canticle of Shartan existed and is part of the dissonent verses, and so on. But the comparison of giving it to the elves who acknowledge both sides at fault and then make an offering to the humans as a way to apologize for their part, compared to the chantry's response is to whitewash the humans fault and paint all elves as heretical barbarians shows a very distinct difference in how both groups go about preserving history when its uncovered. 

 

Also, Bohlin just found all the shards in Emprise Du Leon and finished crafting all the best armor and weapons he could for his party. 

 

About to go investigate the shards for the first time. Figured I'd collect as many as possible then go see what the fuss is about.

My gutsy dwarven warrior, only level 7, snuck into dragon territory in the Hinterlands and managed to collect just enough obsidian to complete the requisition for the dwarven puzzle boxes - I was so proud! I eagerly went to the requisitions officer for the next request, and it was... yet more dwarven puzzle boxes!
