(playing on NM)

Kuruk Adaar decided to allow the mages to join the Inquisition. When questioned about his choice, he said it was more like a "probation" and left it at that. He was too shook after being fastfowarded through time and watching everyone he cared about dying. Not to mention that showdown with Alexius and all of those Fade monsters was pretty brutal. He still wonders how he could've possibly survived, but attributes it to his zen-like mastery of tactical combat.

Upon speaking about it with others, Adaar felt a strange sense of kinship with The Iron Bull. As a Vashoth raised by Tal-Vashoth, he always found life outside of the Qun strange and wondered about the life that his parents abandoned. But Bull is far from what he imagined a follower of the Qun to be. Or perhaps that is his Ben Hassrath training. Adaar will have to investigate this further.

So it turns out that Nightmare mode is making my inquisitor more cowardly cautious than normal and the trend continued today.

I decided to fight the Hinterland dragon with Vivienne, Sera and Bull. I stealthed by the dragonlings to get to the main lair. I edged my party so that the dragon's health gauge just shows and then I used Sera's bow abilities from afar. Luckily the dragon didn't move and the health gradually decreased. This took a long time but I can still say: I DEFEATED MY FIRST DRAGON ON NIGHTMARE!!! B)

There was a darkspawn outbreak on the coast so I thought I should investigate. In the first cave, there was no sign of any darkspawn so luckily I just filled the hole. The second area was crawling with spiders and darkspawn. So my inquisitor waited until both sides wore each other down and this made the subsequent fight easier (I guess this is the Primarch Victus method if I remember right :)). Eventually I completed all the quests on the Coast.

I unlocked the Hissing wastes to go to the dog shop. I could only afford one schematic so I went into stealthy tomb raider mode to get some weapon schematics. I also managed to kill a lv 16 mage when we were only at lv 12.

Went back to Skyhold and met the bull's chargers and I like the Dalish "archer". I crafted a dagger with a DPS of 350 and renamed it "Redemption" because the inquisitor refuses to act cowardly from this day forth. It's victory or death ... probably death.

The day began with a dragon hunt for the Highland Ravager. She kicked our butts seriously bad the first go-round but something clicked the second attempt and she went down without anyone falling even once. After a quick stop at Skyhold, the party headed north to the newly rediscovered Temple of Dirthamen. After killing 5 dragons in the last 2 days, everyone was super over-leveled for this one. I think Julia was just about to 23 and everyone else either 22 or almost there. We roflstomped those undead nasties and the poor disassembled/reassembled high priest. Also found all the rune markings the first time through so I didn't have to run around for an hour looking for the last one. <_<

Then it was off to the Hissing Wastes. I really like the atmosphere there....it's kinda creepy but not in a scary way, and the views are awesome. Why doesn't the moon look that big anywhere else???  I brought Dorian and Iron Bull, who both like killing Venatori, and Varric for his input on all things dwarfy. Had a hilarious banter come up between Varric and IB:

IB: Soooo, your girlfriend is a smith....

Varric: Yes

IB: She makes weapons....with her hands....

Varric: Among other things.

IB: That's.....hot

Julia: [rolls eyes]

OK, that last line didn't really happen but I laughed pretty hard. I also discovered that Blackwall has a huge crush on Josie and brings her flowers every week. Awww.....that's cute (until it's my turn to romance him, of course).

I'm finding that game-play-wise, I don't really like the result of siding with the Templars. I like Barris, and I liked the mission itself fine, but I don't like the feel of it later on. In-story it makes sense because by keeping the majority of the Templars away from the red lyrium, their numbers are reduced, noticeably, and that helps the Inquisition. However, the Venatori are not any more powerful or prevalent by having left Alexius to do this thing. Not only that, but Calpernia is a nobody. By that I mean, she's a new character that we (the player) have no history with, that none of the characters has any history with. She's just there. Samson, on the other hand, is someone both the player and characters (Cullen, Varric, Hawke, possibly even Leliana) know, and that makes having to take him out much more meaningful.

Up next: I'm looking for Fairel's tomb in the Wastes. Of course it is guarded by a dragon but Julia doesn't know that for sure yet. ^_^ After taking her out, the only one left will be Vinsomer. I still have shards to collect there too before heading to the Oasis and then to the Wilds. Getting close to the end!

Looking forward to taking Varric out on some quests in my next game. He was one of my faves in DA2, and I'm trying real hard to like him more in Inquisition, but through (almost) two games now, I haven't had many opportunities. I mean sure, he was with me alot in the early going of my first game... until I recruited Inky's eventual girlfriend and didn't have room for a second rogue. And of course Harold is a rogue himself so Varric loses out again.

As for Harold, it was a guy's night out. Back at Skyhold he'd asked Cassandra if she even wanted to be the next Divine, and she responded with (something like), "it doesn't matter what I want. Sometimes duty comes first." ... curse that Vivienne.  <_< Yes, that's right. Harold is blaming her for his problems :P

So, leaving Cassandra at home to think some more about what she really wants,  Harold, Dorian, Blackwall, and the Bull went back to the Exalted Plains and wrapped things up. Forgot just how many undead are in that Chateau de crazy-ancient-magic-defenses-that-some-idiot-enabled.  :o ... wasn't too bad though, except at one point Blackwall fell through the floor and got stuck for awhile, until we advanced too far and he auto-rejoined us. But for all that time he was stuck, he couldn't help us kill undead. I really like hiding behind that "line in the sand" thing he does. it's great for an archer.

Also, I think maybe Blackwall just doesn't like mages very much. Vivienne ripped him to shreds all through the western approach, and the one conversation he tried to start with Dorian didn't go very well, either. Maybe he should've tried a little harder to keep the sneer out of his voice when commenting on how much Dorian seemed to enjoy using his magic, instead of being slightly ashamed and fearful like all good not-from-tevinter mages are. (paraphrased since I don't remember the exact conversation :P )

Ahh, Blackwall *shakes head* The times they are a-changin', man.

Anyway, thinking about the Lost Temple of Dirthamen next, before heading on to the Emerald Graves. Still got Emprise de Lion to do as well, and the Hissing Waste before going on to the Arbor Wilds.

I seemingly assuaged Vivienne's misgivings about my alliance with the mages, at least on a personal level. My excursions lead to boredom with the Storm Coast in general (nearly regretting the recruitment of the Blades of Hesserian) and enough dragon research material to seek out Dracolisks. Shortly thereafter, I had enough money to purchase the Golden Nug and seek out the Greater Nuggalope.

Following that, I went to the Fallow Mire to rescue my troops. After brushing off Harding's question about being squeamish about the undead, I quickly reversed that position to "OMG how many people died here they keep coming make it stop!" That, combined with an annoyingly drawn out fight with the Hand of Korth, running away screaming from a breach that was two levels above my own, and my Cadash regularly running into nose-deep water or worse, and I have officially developed condemned said region as the Herald of Andraste. At least I got a bunch of requisition influence and a new recruit.

"They said it would be daft to build a castle in a swamp, but I built it all the same, just to show 'em! ...now there's a never ending stream of undead. But the castle stayed up!"

Got sidetracked a bit, as usually happens, on our way to the Temple of Dirthamen. Wanted to write this down while it's still a bit fresh. After returning from the Exalted Plains, in hope that I don't ever have to go back :P, I ran around and chatted with everyone in Skyhold again. Cassandra and Harold resolved their little differences about the whole Divine thing. As he approached her she said, "seeing you warms the heart." *sigh* and they went into the smithy and made out for awhile. All is right with the world... uh, well, besides the war and all

Saw an exclamation point on the Skyhold map, right where Maryden the golden-voiced minstrel usually stands in the tavern. I went there to see what it was all about, and as soon as I walked in the exclamation point disappeared, and I couldn't interact with her at all.  :crying: Tried reloading, even exited right out of the game completely, but nothing worked. Crap.

So I went up to the garden and planted some new seeds and chatted with Morrigan. Was interesting to hear what she had to say about the HoF this time. She talked about how far the wardens had fallen since the blight, having been exiled from the southern lands, and that they had until the next blight to make amends. Morrigan: Witch of the Wilds, Occult Advisor to the Empress of Orlais, apostate mage, gorgeous, fearless, with a voice that makes one weak in the knees.... captain obvious

She had thought that when the Champion of Kirkwall mentioned a Warden ally, the HoF was who he referred to. Bit odd because Hawke had already been left in the Fade before we ever met Morrigan. She asked if I'd seen the HoF at Adamant, said that they had parted on less than amiable terms, that I should find him, because this war was just the sort of thing he would be involved in, and that he could be either a powerful ally or a dangerous foe. Very different from her chat when they were lovers during the blight, but equally cool.

Pleeeeease Bio, bring back the HoF!

Then Harold and the Nightingale went to Valence. There, she mentioned how she and the HoF had come to that chantry together after the blight. Kinda cool, but not as cool as when the HoF romances Morrigan. Harold tried to recruit Natalie, but she refused to join us. Stopped Leliana from killing her this time, though. When we talked about it all afterwards, Leliana seemed a much happier person, that she was glad to be reminded to remember who she was before being a bard, before being the Left hand of the Divine, before everything else. Dunno what that means for her being the next Divine, but I've come to terms (sort of) with the fact it'll likely be Cassandra who is chosen  <_< ...Anyway, now I'm undecided which Leliana I like better.

To put a perfect capper on the evening, Harold had a game of Wicked Grace with Varric and most of the rest of the companions. No Sera under the table time, but still just as funny to see Cullen make a break for it  Was hoping for an extra line or two from Cassandra, but nothing. Damn. Speaking of Sera... Harold went for a chat with Solas, and asked him about elves. He answered with, "why don't you go ask Sera? She has ... strong opinions." ... Uhh okay, Solas, but remember? I kicked her out of the party early this time? Guess he's fade-trippin' again.

Anyway, now we're off to the Temple of Dirthamen.

Kuruk Adaar successfully saved most of the townspeople, in addition to those he met during Corypheus' assault on Haven. Sera and Dorian proved themselves as waves of Red Templars, Knights, and Horrors came. Who knew a jar filled with Bees could turn into a fierce tool to disorient their foes? However, none of them stood as grand as Cassandra, whose elite combat experience shone as she faced the monstrous form of Denam head-on, her shield and specially crafted blade in tow. It was a marvel of combat artistry.

Once they'd finished their excruciating battle, Kuruk found himself alone as the Elder One finally appeared: a Darkspawn that claimed to be one of the Tevinter Magisters that unleashed the very Blight on the world itself. Yet, like so many villains and foes boasting of their power, Adaar used the opportunity to fire the last trebuchet and sink the town.

It is unknown how he survived, but Adaar did. The anchor he'd been marked with was permanently connected to him, and as he finally embraced it - rather than view it as a curse like he once did- he found that he could unleash tremendous power. But that was not the true miracle; him surviving the blinding cold and reaching those who'd evacuated hours earlier was.

I can't even imagine playing the battle of Haven on NM. Not that it's difficult on casual, but it's still pretty, uhh... frantic. And i agree, Cassandra is a wonder. In my first PT, I believe she was the last one standing during my fight with the Fereldan Frostback, at least for most of the last third of the fight. I think I had her revive my inquisitor when Frosty took off for her high perch. She just had enough time before the dragonlings arrived.

Sera kept dying - although she was pretty useful when she wasn't - but the others stayed alive as long as I kept them out of its reach. I also had Ice Mine - which does a spectacular job. I was level 11 - anything lower was a pain - and Cassandra totally kicks ass if you build her right.

So far, I've heard Haven and Here lies the Abyss are the hardest missions. So, I think it will be smooth sailing as long as I keep farming high tier materials for better weapons and armor. Them High Dragons doe...

This weekend I blew through another 6 hours. I now have Skyhold, and I've saved the empress. I tried to make it to where she would reconcile with Briala, and not have her exiled. I'm not entirely sure if I succeeded. I had the option to spare Gaspard's life, and since it was a star option, I chose it. He's exiled now. But I don't know what's happened with Briala. Does this mean she's not exiled? Anyway, next on my list is to run around Skyhold some more getting to know the layout and talking to everyone. Trying to romance Blackwall. We recently had a conversation that our duties prevent us from being anything, but you just gotta wear him down, yeah?

If you successfully reunite Celene and Briala they will both speak when you address the rest of the Ball (They will also thank you for bringing them back together). From what I understand you can either reunite them or pick to spare Gaspard. In my play throughs I pick the option "What about Briala's reward" to bring them back together.

I started messing around with flycam a bit yesterday. Not very good with it but an interesting tool.

Did a flycam edit of an Iron Bull sex scene as I was curious to see more of him.

Liked for the Victus Maneuver. :D ... how are those Hurlock Alphas on NM? They soak up a lot of damage even on casual.

 <snip>

^^ Yeah, they take me a while to defeat just because they do the guard ability a lot.  I am able to put them to sleep just before they do guard and this sometimes makes the fight go quicker. However, most of the fight consists of the inquisitor reviving fallen allies. -_-

I spoke with some trainers today and the inquisitor decided to be an assassin again. Therefore, I needed to collect 20 deathroot so the inquisitor's occupation today was being a horticulturist. I went to the Hissing Wastes to begin the collection. Eventually, I came to a lost patrol what was surrounded by spiders. The inquisitor initially went into a battle with 4 spiders but then another spider appeared and another and so on. The inquisitor didn't run but he died :pinched:. I also collected a lot of Nevarrite because I want my future equipment to have a purple hue. For some reason the Hissing Wastes reminded me of the Menae mission in Mass Effect. The big moon in the background is like Palaven (except there are no reapers ... er maybe it's just me then)

I unlocked the Oasis and Vivienne did some suicide dives because I tried to do 'fade step' over a canyon. I also met a wanderer and she said something like "Why are you following me". She just came round the corner so I am thinking "don't flatter yourself love, I'm just trying to get some shards!".

Went back to Skyhold and I have a wartable mission with Abernache and the goat thrower. I am starting to like this pairing  and I chose the leliana option to make the goat thrower more cultured. So I will see how that turns out tomorrow.

Finally went to Crestwood and saved an elf from some corpses. After the fight, I looted the statue (where people leave coins) which made me feel a little guilty as I only got about 5 gold.

Ha, I'd love to know what Iron Bull is wearing on his fiddlestick.  :o

For my fourth playthrough, I finally started my long-awaited female mage Anjali Adaar. She is just lovely to behold. So large... so grey... so horny (Sera approves). Adaar looks pretty fierce most of the time, but she's actually pretty sweet. Josephine is the romance for this playthrough, and I can already tell it's going to be a cute one after this flirt (paraphrased):

Josephine: How are you enjoying your time in Haven?

Adaar: *seductive voice* I've met so many wonderful people.

Josephine: Oh good! You'll have to tell me who they are!

Adaar: *sigh*

I hear her romance is all Disney-style, which I'm sure will be lovely. I'm a sucker for happy endings and whatnot, plus Josie is just the sweetest person ever (well, besides Cole... and Merrill... and Bethany... and Sigrun... never mind, she's on the list anyway).

Adaar is suffering a remarkable amount of bigotry so far, poor woman. After about 2 hours into the game, I'd already heard "oxman", "big brute" and "Qunari zealot" more times than I can count. Adaar's agnostic and pretty skeptical about this Herald thing... but I'm starting to think it'd be funny for her to go around saying her and Andraste are bosom-buddies.

Speaking of Andraste's bosoms, I decided to try and explore everything Haven has to offer. Found a codex entry called "Founding the Chantry" and read it as "Fondling the Chantry". Had to look it up in the codex to make sure I'd misread. Now I remember an entry about how once there was a pretty Divine, and everyone made porn and 'smutty literature' about her. Orlais is so weird. Adaar smacked her head on a low-hanging chandelier twice. At least she didn't get her horns caught in it.

Adaar tried flirting with Cullen, and he turned her down, saying he's not interested in a relationship since he's too busy with work. U a fukken liar ser. I suppose he was at least trying to be tactful. "You're too big and scary" would be very rude.

I really want to mix and match the party this time, but it's not worth it with the accursed party banter bug (*shakes fist*). If I pick three and stick with them for everything (except specific approval and personal quest stuff), I should be able to hear everything they have to say! This will be my third playthrough with Cassandra and Cole (I'm too weak, I love them). Undecided on the third member. I'm benching Sera because her banter with Cole reminds me of Fenris' one-man-war on Merrill. I should take Dorian, since he hasn't been on a full playthrough yet. But... I'm intend him to have a permanent spot for the next two playthroughs. I think it's Varric again. His banter so far with Cassandra is golden (he's grown on her... "like fungus"). Plus he teaches Cole knock-knock jokes.

Well, I was in Emprise du Lion killing dragons because I ended up with a quest to kill all three dragons in the zone after I repaired Suledin Keep. However, after killing the first dragon, I suddenly realized that I had totally forgotten to explore Chateau d'Onterre like I had planned on doing the other day. I promptly went back to the Emerald Graves to visit the chateau. Now what's funny is that I was watching this mystery series called Grantchester on PBS (and I wrote about it in the Blackwall thread last night because, well, Blackwall was in the group, and I had gotten shiny new armor for him after killing dragon numero uno in Emprise du Lion :P ).

Okay, why is this funny? It's funny because Cole was in the group (this will make sense really soon). Now while I was watching the show...I kept thinking there was something awfully familiar about Vicar Sidney's voice (he's the main character) - in fact, I thought he sounded just a bit like Cole but sort of dismissed that as being my imagination. Right after I get inside the chateau, I hear Cole start speaking, I was also listening to Vicar Sidney saying something at the same time.

That was when the lightbulb officially went off, and then I went - wait, wtf, it really HAS to be Cole. I proceeded to check IMDB and found out that it was James Norton playing Vicar Sidney (and obviously, yes, he's Cole), so Cole-ception and all that - hahaha! And like I said in the other thread last night, I'm not sure I can watch the show now without expecting Vicar Sidney to wear a funny hat and break out a pair of daggers - lol.

Then, I let Cullen express his business sense and optimistic side to secure the roads.

And lastly I helped Cassandra do her homework:

That's awesome. I love discovering the voice actors from the games I like in other TV shows.

For about the first half of season 4 of the show '24', Aresh Agdashloo -- Shala'raan from ME2-3 -- plays a fairly big role. And Freddie Prinze, jr is one of the main characters of season 8 of '24'. I kept expecting him to challenge Jack Bauer to a pull-up competition, but Jack probably would have just shot him.

@spork: lol - yeah, I watched 24 regularly when it was on, and I was an ME fan, so I got a kick out of seeing both Shohreh Aghdashloo & FPJ.

I wasted way too much time on the CC trying to create an elf that looked like Liv Tyler/Arwen and gave up o.O

Finished my second play through, a Champion Lavellan who romanced Solas, removed her vallaslin, drank from the Well, exiled the Wardens (and a living Loghain) to Weisshaupt, reconciled Celene and Briala, let Blackwall die, made Cole more Spirit-y, sacrificed the Bull's Chargers, allied with the Mages...

Fun play through!  It was fun being an unstoppable juggernaut, but I think I prefer ranged in this game.  Started a third run as a Human Male Archer, playing on making him very pious and romancing Cassandra.  We'll see how this goes!
