Me too. He was a fun Inquisitor.
Congrats on another completion! Playing a dwarf is certainly interesting, to say the least. ![]()
Speaking of.....I'm really torn between who I want to side with this time. Character-wise, there are reasons for both. Nery doesn't like magic much, so that would favor siding with the templars. On the other hand, every mage but one that she spoke with at Redcliffe thought "allying" with Tevinter was a horrible idea and certainly not anything they would have agreed to given the chance. So does she leave them all to a fate they didn't actually pick for themselves? Of course, the same could be said for the templars who are just "following orders" from Lucius.
Meta-gamey concerns are plenty also. First, I'm playing this game on Hard (yes, I'm hanging in there....it's actually not too bad.....yet
) and since I had such a horrible time with the mages at the trebuchet on Normal, I'm not sure I want to face them on Hard. I also am not too fond of Calpernia as a nemesis (sorry, Spork!)....I just thought she was kinda boring. I do like the memory crystals at the Temple of Dumat, however. Those are pretty cool. On top of all this, I know what Nery will face in both options. Which will be more traumatizing for her? Seeing what evils she might perpetuate if she lets the title of "Herald" to go her head and goes all power-trippy, or watching Blackwall die so she can get back to the past?
Decisions, decisions! Luckily I still have quite a bit to do before I need to pick one.

My mage and her trusty companions (switched up to Blackwall, Cole, and Dorian because I had to get Dorian's perspective on things) trekked to the Arbor Wilds and spent an awful lot of time dodging swooping parrots - also red templars and some very angry elves in surprisingly shiny armor. Finally brushed off all the feathers and reached the Temple of Mythal, whereupon I did a bit of puzzle-solving and finally drank from the Well of Sorrow.
Sorry, Morrigan! I just had to get that special bit of dialogue from my LI, so you'll just have to deal with it! And I guess this means that my Inquisitor is Mythal's b---- for the rest of this playthrough because I really need that achievement.
SIDENOTE: I forget if I mentioned it (as it happened a week or two ago on this playthrough), but I FINALLY got that Dragon's Bane achievement. Now I really never have to kill another dragon again if I don't want to. *happy dance*

But... the loot.
I needed to kill one dragon in Harold's game to get the achievement, and as I was going through the Hinterlands, gathering xp and power and all that stuff, getting strong enough to take on a dragon was what I was looking forward to the most. I couldn't wait to fight one, cuz they're just such fun fights. I finally got up to level 10 -- double digit level -- and then i started asking myself, "am I strong enough? Should I try it?" ... sneaking past the Fereldan Frostback in stealth mode was a litmus test, and an eye-opener, heh. I wasn't ready. But when I finally was, it was totally worth it.

In playing a dwarf it's kinda odd to see how they compensated for the height difference between her and the other characters. I didn't get a screenie of this moment, but when Solas grabs her by the wrist and shows her how to close that first rift... phew. I'm no stickler for realism, but his arm is fully extended, which means either her shoulder is dislocated, or her feet are no longer touching the ground.
I'm sure I'm in for more amusing examples of this throughout the game.
Anyway, thought I'd share a few screenies that I did manage to take of Dofni, around the time she and Cassandra first met Varric and Solas on the way to the Temple of Andraste.

Spoiler
Guess that height will always matter, especially now that we've got a good palette of height (from short dwarves to super tall Qunaris). I've seen one or two videos of BW romancing a dwarf & at some points it's quite weird on the animation point of view (the height difference etc). I don't think that it's easy to make scenes accomodating all the differences for the romances, but they did it anyway & it was quite a good job. But there are some non-romance scene like when Solas pull the quizzy's hand to teach him/her to close the rift, well...
I haven't seen all romance scenes from all characters tho, what I can see is that Cullen's romance scene (the only romance I've done up to now) won't work at all with dwarves & Qunaris, it needs a person slightly shorter (but not too short) compared to him for the animation to work, since there are several hug scenes. Already I can tell that they've made these scenes with human in mind since it looks weirder on elves (suddenly she got so tall) & looks really good on human.
They've built Cass romance to accomodate all height different quite nicely however... (IMO)

Cassandra was named Divine. Harold was selfishly unhappy deep in his heart, but he could see how much it meant to her, and so he gave his love his full support. Her smile (that I didn't get a screenshot of d'oh!) after Corypheus' defeat could get Harold to do anything she wanted. Mythal's got nothing on her.
Oh, no! Poor Harold! That's even worse than the Solas romance ending (potentially). At least she has hope in the shape of future dlc. Cassandra's piece of Inky man-meat is doomed to lose her forever to the big hat.
Talk about your bittersweet victory. ![]()

Guess that this is even worse than Solas for the quizzy, since technically without meta-gaming the quizzy does not know Solas' true identity... Cass named Divine is just... sad. The quizzy will see her from time to time, they'll be in quite same social circle (I guess), but she becomes someone now unattainable... Ouch ouch ouch ![]()

It was tough. I mean, Cassandra is an easy character to fall in love with. And the things she says, it's just... yeah. But being Divine is clearly important to her, and she'll do good things, and so... I dunno, I role-played Harold to be a religious kinda guy who believed in being "The Herald", so it was easier to support her, and I was pushing her toward the role all game long with the choices I made, but still...

And she can always hope that he will return someday (though that's painful too). If not, then his obscurity might help her forget him. Cass though, as Divine, she'd be such a prominent figure that Inky would have a hard time forgetting her. Especially hearing about all the good things she's doing for people.
Gah, why such sad romances, Bioware? Between Solas, potentially Cass, and presumably Blackwall, I might be a whimpering wreck by the end!

True indeed! I think I fell in love with her on the friendship path...
I suppose at least he has the comfort that they were doing the Maker's work. In making her Divine, I mean. Not in doing the horizontal Remigold or having moonlit dinners. It's so sad having to put duty before their love. Reminds me of romancing Alistair the first time with Tabris and getting dumped. Or worse, him doing the US for a romanced Mahariel. Like with Cass, it was a direct result of her own actions. But that doesn't make it any less bittersweet!
Maybe he should get some fine Vintage from Dorian? Beat Iron Bull with a stick? Play a game of Wicked Grace or ride a nuggalope across the Wastes? Those things seem cheering!

Especially when it's very clear that both of them are still loving each other. Sometimes it might get easier when you know clearly that the other person doesn't love you anymore. In Cass' case, she still loves him & it reciprocated, which makes things worse. Seeing from a distance the person you love all the time, unable to attain her, but can't look away either.

Remanna packed a lot into a short day - first off, Cole's amulet arrived. He was so excited, he couldn't wait to put it on...well, he waited until he found a nice round room, ie Solas' office. Solas tried to do a spell that would activate the amulet but it wouldn't work. At this moment Varric entered the room and ventured that perhaps Cole was more human than spirit and didn't need the amulet. Solas disagreed "I am the elfiest elf who ever elfed, and I know best, child of the stone"
- seriously, this guy makes a Dalish blush! Cole needed to find out what was stopping the amulet from working - turns out there was a guy who owed Cole big time, and he meant to collect. Solas said to forgive, Varric said to work through it - Remanna figured she didn't know what was right for Cole, but she did know that Solas was a big jerk
, so she went with Varric on this one. Cole seemed the better for it, though he is still recovering from his influx of humanity. ![]()
Ah, if only all of my soldiers were like Sutherland - he's just a big puppy dog! He and his 'adventuring company' found themselves in a bit of a scrap, and Remanna and the gang went to help him out. He was so happy to see Remanna, it was heart-warming - he has such faith in her, she was glad to reward it. After reaffirming him of his importance to the Inquisition, Remanna went around the bend to grab some Grey Warden stuff (stopping to wonder why she was still gathering this for Blackwall, but it was on her 'to do' list, so whatever), and when she came back, Sutherland greeted her like it had been weeks
! She started wondering if perhaps Solas should go adventuring and Sutherland could have a nice comfy spot at Skyhold, but alas that would be a decision for another day.
Upon returning to Skyhold, she gave Blackwall the goodies she had found, and his only response was to grumble that he would've liked to have been there. Really?!?! He's lucky to be alive and this is the thanks she gets
! Also, it did not go unnoticed that not only was there no Dalish bed in the works, he still hasn't finished carving that griffon. Remanna is considering that the dracolisk might prefer sleeping in the barn, and Blackwell might benefit from a night (or three) in the stables.
Perhaps command is making her cranky...a nice desk-polishing session with Cullen might lighten her mood... ![]()

Know what you mean. During my first romance scene with Blackwall, I suddenly wasn't towering over him anymore. He was almost my height. (I'm qunari.)
As for what I did today, or rather last night, I went on Bull's personal quest to the Storm Coast. It was a tough decision and neither ending was going to feel that great. Glad to know that Bull will approve of either decision you make. But the way he talked of the qun to me in the tavern and of his fellow qunari made me hate to make him Tal-Vashoth. So we saved the ship. :/
Also, I finally visited the Exhalted Plains and met the Dalish. Lots of random demons here. My long shot can now kill many different human baddies with only one arrow. How cool is that! And as my companions, I took along Cassandra, Solas, and for the first time, Iron Bull. I usually use Blackwall as my second warrior. But I'm hoping for new banter. And boy did I get it. Solas really doesn't like Bull. And there's not a lot of dialogue built in for them so I heard the same conversation like three times about how Solas can't be mad at Bull for the decisions he makes because he doesn't make any on his own, it's all the qun. Solas really doesn't hide his distaste for the qun whatsoever. There was also some funny, racey conversations between Bull and Cassandra. I think he's hit on her about two or three times since we've been here.
I still haven't worked up to my specialization yet. To meet the requirements to get started as an Artificer, I still have to locate and collect a bunch of obsidian. Anyone know where a lot of obsidian is lying around?

I'm playing as a female Dwarf bringing Varric on every quest to hopefully get some added dialogue related to Dwarfs. There isn't much at all and after finishing Hissing Wastes, I replaced him with Sera
So now I have Vivienne, Cassandra and Sera in my party and will most likely stay that way for the rest of my playthrough.
Yesterday I spent a couple hours collecting materials and crafting armor and weapons
The 4 of us have on hit gain 3 or 5 guard and everyone has 10% chance to inflict chain lightning at 100% weapon damage. I also added it to Cassandra's shield. So with the 4 of us, we have a 50% chance to inflict chain lightning. Its fun to watch when fighting the baddies
My female dwarf has her strength at 123 with 103% attack and Sera has 212% critcal damage bonus. I'm playing on nightmare and the fights are over before they even start. In fact the others are taking away my kills. Excellent
I know there is fade-touched materials, but what about having a fade-touched herb? Like a fade-touched deathroot that when hit deals 10 points of health damage to the enemy
I'm currently in the Exalted Plains and there was one shard I was having trouble getting. I tried jumping up to a ledge several times with no luck, but when I switched to Vivienne, she was able to jump up to the ledge. I guess playing a Dwarf has its disadvantages.
Another thing is when blowing the horn after clearing the rampart, my cats jump up wondering what the heck was that. Its funny watching them walking around trying to find what made that sound

Haha. Yeah, it's like a cruise ship blowing its horn. It's super loud. My dog doesn't seem as interested though. The first time it happened he looked up at me like, Hey, what was that? But I just sat there continuing to play, so he went back to his toy.

Entry 7: More Dragon Slaying
Instead of dealing with the Wardens or the Orlesian Empress, I opted for going to the Emerald Graves. We helped out the local population for a bit, killing a bunch of bandits in a mansion, but after that we moved on. We took 2 camps, and then made our way to the Greater Mystral. Super Sera does it again.
Back in Skyhold I talked to Sera and she opted we go do some pranks. So we did, I like this crazy woman. I then realised I needed to get in good favour of the Dalish in the Exalted Plains, only if just to get access to their shop that sells tier 2 Leathers.. or so I've heard. Turned out to be true. Had to deal with some of their problems and solve them, but it was no biggy. Didn't yet get enough approval to recruit one of them into our ranks though. I'll deal with that later, I want a Dalish agent. Sera is just... not Elfy enough and Solas is just, I dunno. He don't like me much I think. Anyway, I digress.
There were some problems with Red Templars on the Storm Coast. We took down everyone in their stronghold, then found a boat and went to an ominous sounding place called 'Dragon's Island'. Oh I wonder what we'll find... well, turned out to be Vinsomer. Super Sera slew her... again. What a woman!
Now that Team Dragon Slayer has 6 notches on it's belt, it's probably a good idea to go to Halamshiral.
