Excuse me while I go find all those sawed off chair legs before someone builds a trebuchet out of 'em.

I know
I feel bad for those Haven folks, potentially surviving all their hardships only to lose their jobs. But I still want to rescue Minaeve this time, since I failed the previous two times.
Thanks, I've actually noticed that happening a few times. Didn't realize it was on purpose, heh.
I only saved them all by accident I think. At least now that I'm trying - i keep losing one. ![]()
I think I saved three the first time, but only two the second time... so I'm getting worse. But one of those two in the second attempt was different than any of the three in the first attempt, so it's not all bad.I only saved them all by accident I think. At least now that I'm trying - i keep losing one.
I really wanted to get away from Dragon Age, just for some days. Checked the Steam Shop yesterday, found a game named 'Tesla Effect' and facepalmed myself for not knowing earlier. Nearly one year old, a Tex Murphy adventure and I looooved Tex Murphy, back when I was young...er. So bought it and was so happy, 'cause it's so very different from my Dragon Age Obsession. The credit-intro started, I flinched for a second so the first name I read on my screen was 'Steve Valentine'. I played for one hour or so, with the only intention to find Steve. Didn't meet him, got frustrated by my intention, quitted and went back to Dragon Age.
Where I utterly fell in love.
I liked Bull since my first playthrough. Whatever I play, we're bros, even when we don't always have the same opinion.
So yesterday I went back to my Dashing Kadan Cadash playthrough and finally got the Reaver spec ready.
Went to the romanced Bull afterwards, where I first heard 'Wow! *looong pause* Woooooooow! ... You smell... (sorry, don't know the exact words) different, dragony, hot etc.' The conversation went on until he wanted to know why I wanted to become a reaver. Without any thinking, I clicked the heart 'I did it for you'. Bull: 'Don't do this Kadan! ... Don't ever change for me.' And BAMM, he got my heart. As simple as that. Still can't get the hearts out of my eyes.
And for the rest of the day, we chopped Venatori (and Rams) in the Hissing Wastes. Life can be so good! ![]()
Not creepy at all, I know.
No worries
I'm not gonna wait as long for NM as I did to play ME3 on insanity, but I don't want my first warrior run to be my first NM run too; I think I'd probably put my keyboard through my monitor in frustration at some point. Will probably play a mage for NM. Maybe. Want to at least finish Dofni's tale before ruling out a NM warrior.
My first nightmare run was as a khinght enchanter and it was fun. Some quests I actually soloed. Even killed a few dragons while soloing.
Remanna decided her adventure needed a serious influx of estrogen, so she planned a girl's day out. She was chuckling as Vivienne, supposedly so good at playing the game was so obviously making sure she was in Cassandra's good graces, just in case she becomes the next Divine. Remanna had to bite her tongue from doing her best impression "Vivienne, darling, your subtlety is slipping" - decided she didn't really want a lightning bolt up the bum, so discretion won out. She also learned that life as a Dalish was vastly different than Sera's in the Alienage, where everything was apparently "Aaahhhhh!!!!" She made a note to ask Sera later how it was that she knows that Cassandra is well-fit...outside of her armor. And, of course, Sera and Vivienne continued their somewhat obsessive discussion about spiders and small clothes.
The girls found themselves in the Exalted Plains, where every landmark served just to anger Remanna - "on this spot blah blah blah evil elves...blah blah blah glorious victory blah blah". Too bad there isn't any such thing as time magic, Remanna would love to go back in time and show Sister Exalted Ass the back of her glow-y hand. (Breathe Remanna) Oh, dead people need re-killing, that'll do nicely for her mood. Turns out none of the soldiers here know that the war is over - apparently the mail carriers of Thedas can be stopped by undead, demons and fade rifts...tsk. Some took it better than others, but most were just grateful that Remanna re-deaded the undead and just plain deaded the demons.
Oh a puzzle! Remanna found some veil fire, which means special writings...usually rune recipes, but these were different. Somehow she knew she needed to find four in total - strong gut feeling - so she set out. On the hunt, the gang came to an ancient Elven cemetery. Cassandra, who being Nevarran knows from dead people, suggested they should not disturb them. Which, while good advice, seemed a little insulting - Remanna may loot the pants off a corpse, but she would never defile a grave! However, that didn't mean she was going to allow demons to roam freely. Quick work, cleaning the cemetery out - of demons and embrium...oh and there were some chests lying around, but they weren't buried, so that's not defiling...you don't hang around Josie as long as Remanna has and not learn how to tread the grey areas.
Well howdy fellow Dalish hunter - oh, you have a camp nearby? Sure, I'd love to go deliver a message for you, will be nice to see some of the People...an opportunity for the girls to see what her day-to-day life was like before. Ugh, not the best example, though - what a bunch of needy people. First, the stocks were low, but Nissa couldn't remember what she needed, but it was all in her log, not 6 feet away from her!!! And despite having everything that was needed, Remanna had to make three trips to the journal and then to the chest. She did sympathize when Vivienne quipped "at this rate we'll never leave here". The Dalish were very happy for the supplies, and it seemed it was a good start in opening trade, though more was needed. Fortunately, the combination of not defiling the graveyard, and killing the demons also stood her in good stead (the subject of the looting of chests never came up). A lost brother was found - dead, but found nonetheless so points for that. Oh, and apparently there is a mythical golden halla roaming around that can help clans in need. Remanna and the girls became halla herders, which was actually slightly more difficult than it needed to be as Cassandra decided to go all Andruil on the halla, and gave it a good whacking before Remanna was able to stay her hand! Goodness, as little killing of animals as they do, Cassandra's blood lust was startling. Finally, the halla must have tuned in to the clan's need, because she ran into the camp and pretty much corralled herself. Clan trust gained, eager young man recruited, and trade opened - which was an exercise in frustration because Remanna couldn't afford the gorgeous robes that were for sale. She does have a bargain version of them she found...she's going to give them to Solas....though she is sure he'll manage to 'hobo' them up, the man does have a knack for that.
I continued on in the fade at lv 17 (on nightmare mode Literally) with Sera, Vivienne and Blackwall.
I progressed to the final area and this is the first time on a boss battle where I didn't die. So I think I am finally starting to get the hang of this nightmare playthrough. I decided to choose an option that I haven't done before and left Hawke. At the time, I thought that this is a fitting end for Hawke as Stroud is more useful to the warden order. I then exiled the wardens (again as I have yet to choose the 'join us' option) but the inquisitor was a bit of a hypocrite because he allowed Blackwall to stay.
Went back to Skyhold and there have been improvements so now I can have a complete Orlesian set up (apart from the Andrastian throne).
Now it is judgment time!!! Erimond is brought before the inquisitor and it is decided ... execution. The public execution wasn't in the courtyard however, it was right next to Cullen's office. I suppose it was to send a message to the inquisitor's nearby enemies wildlife
. I also judged Ser Ruth and I absolved her in the name of Andraste. Looking back my inquisitor isn't very consistent with some of these Grey Warden decisions.
Then I spoke to Varric about Hawke and this made me feel guilty (to an extent) of leaving Hawke behind. He sounded so depressed and the Kirkwall music in the background made it even more depressing
. I still like the idea that the champion's story finished at that point and it might give Stroud a chance to shine in the future. So the wardens are exiled and Southern Thedas should probably pray that the next blight doesn't occur on their lands (otherwise
)
I got some approval with Sera in the fade so I thought I was building bridges but when I spoke to her at Skyhold she took a swipe at me with an object. Inquisitor was not happy and got more disapproval.
Finally, I went to the Hinterlands to start Varric's quest. It's probably not Varric's best day as Hawke has just died (maybe), Bianca turns up and now we need to investigate red lyrium mine source.
I found another funny thing today:
Try chosing the basic drapery at Skyhold and walk into Josephine's office. Take a look at he drapery hanging on the wall.
There's no doubt about this glyph is 'The Yellow Sign' made by Kevin Ross for Call of Cthulhu. None at all.
It was first described in 'The King in Yellow', a story by Robert W. Chambers.

That's a pretty cool easter egg. I'll have to check that out next time I'm in Skyhold. Be awhile yet, though. Dofni is still killing templars in the Hinterlands.I found another funny thing today:

*pretends I've been here all along*
Interesting about the drapery. It's amazing that you noticed; that particular easter egg went soaring clear over my head ![]()
For nightmare, both of my first two (three, even? maybe I should take a break...) were Knight Enchanters. It's not quite as overpowered as some would have you believe, but I almost never wore crafted armour and just brought whomever I wanted with me and I never really had any points where I just wanted to rip my hair out and throw it at the screen. If you're looking for something diverse and not overly challenging, I'd recommend it
And as previously said, it's fun (and absolutely viable) to solo with.
I'm doing a DW rogue on NM now (I've been glued to Cassandra's side hiding from bears for nearly 25 hours), just got to In Hushed Whispers/Champions of the Just. Not sure which side I'll choose this time (I've gone mages almost every playthrough) but unfortunately real life has gotten in the way and conspires to leave Thedas in rebellion until I can get my hands on my ps4 again.
Neralah has decided she's going to seek the mages' aid to close the Breach. She knows where they're at, for one thing, and it's pretty darn close. Before she trudges back to Redcliffe, however, she needs to make a stop at Valammar, to find out what the Carta is up to. No good, it sounds like; she's pretty sure they wouldn't be acting so out of character if they were moving regular lyrium. She's got a bad feeling they are into this red stuff and, if Varric is to be believed, that ain't good. She will bring him along, in case he has any more insight on the matter. That means leaving Sera behind (only need 1 archer, yeah?) which will work out better anyway since Blackwell seems to enjoy talking with the crazy elf girl more than he does with Nery.
Maybe he won't be so distracted without Sera's inane blather. ![]()
I finally got everyone by not fighting anything* until everyone was saved

I have the official guide, if you'd like me to copy what it says for you here. I usually feel more accomplished doing it myself, but it's quite helpful if you really want all those grumpy former employees wandering Skyhold ![]()

Thank you.
That would be great, not just for me but everyone who wants to know. I kinda like the idea of Skyhold not completely being a love-in. Besides, if anyone does get uppity we'll have 'volunteers' to be made an example of.
Hehe, remind me not to get on your bad side.
I...don't actually remember how to do the hide spoilers thing (I'm sorry) so, BEWARE, here be spoilers:
The following are the people to save: Harritt, Lysette, Seggrit, Flissa, Adan, Minaeve, Threnn.
Harritt is before Haven's gate and needs help breaking down the door of the building adjacent to the blacksmith. Use a warrior to break it down, then you can move on through the gate.
Lysette is to the west (once inside the gate), help her kill the enemies to give her a clear path to the chantry, then climb the central stairs.
Seggrit, the grumpy merchant, is trapped in the burning building to the east. Climb the ladder on the north side of the building and drop in through a hole in the roof to rescue him. Bust down the blocked door to escape (you can use anybody for this). In my experience, you do need to be pretty quick, but be careful you don't fall off the little walkway thing.
Flissa is trapped inside the tavern to the west. The guide doesn't say it, but I've found it best to have your tank draw as much attention as possible and have your team take out the enemies while you revive her yourself. Careful not to get too close to the stairs up to where Solas used to hang out because...
Adan and Minaeve have been injured west of the tavern. You must act quickly to help them to their feet before the approaching flames trigger an explosion, detonating the flammable trebuchet pots. Again, not in the guide, but it's best you let your team do whatever it is they're doing and deal with this yourself as fast as you can. I usually start with Minaeve on the left since she's easier to get to if you just rambo-rush up the stairs like I do and as soon as the little revive circle is done move on to Adan, rather than waiting for her full animation of her getting up.
Threnn is east, fighting more enemies by the chantry. You'll need to kill everyone to save her, before entering the chantry. And she's the last. As a note, once again, personal advice: take control of your mage on the way to the chantry and throw a barrier on Threnn as soon as you're able. On NM, she's rather squishy and will go down pretty quickly if you're not careful. And that's it! Enter the Chantry, and you're good to go ![]()
If you need clarification on anything, let me know and I'll see if I can help, as the guide tends to be a bit vague.

I know that but Nery doesn't. ![]()
And now she feels terrible. All she wanted was to spend a little bit of time with Blackwall and she ended up getting him killed.
Well, ok, that part happened in the apocalyptic-but-avoidable future, but she remembers it, so it really happened. When she and Dorian finally made it back to the present, all she wanted to do was give the warrior a big 'ol bear hug (he kinda looks like a bear....hey, maybe that's why bears keep attacking them?!) but instead she had to fight off Alexius and his demons and the rifts he kept opening. And then it was rush, rush back to Haven after recruiting the mages and oh, boy, then did the shite hit the fan.
While the mages got settled, and lyrium supply lines were set up, Nery decided to make herself scarce by heading back to the Hinterlands to close the last rift, that tricky one above the river near the farms. Oddly enough, dealing with such a "normal" rift was actually somewhat relaxing. Also refreshing after getting dunked in the water a few times. Stupid slippery rocks.
She can't put it off any longer. It's time to close the Breach.

I too bought the guide and found two inconsistencies just in flicking through it. Have tried to save all - usually Minnie or Adan are on their feet but the pots explode before they can get clear. ![]()
The inconsistencies are that they put the Storm Coast in Orlais above a bit west of Jader rather than Highever coast. And described Skyhold as being in the end of the dales rather than in the Frostbacks. ![]()
Well, finally got around to fighting Corypheus on Nightmare (and his dragon). I took Blackwall, Cole, and Dorian with me, and I was rather surprised when Cory tried to chit-chat with Cole. However, when I say chit-chat...it was more like threatening to bind Cole, but woops, it didn't work and Cory failed hard at it Cole was actually quite happy at the party afterward because it proved to him that he couldn't be bound by nasty blood mages or anyone else. *pats her (more human) Cole* Also ate a bunch of well-deserved tiny cakes and partied down, retiring to my quarters with my sweetie afterward (hey, you have to work off the calories from all those cakes somehow). ![]()

Hm, they should be able to run if you've fully revived them, even if the pots explode. Try Fade Step/Evasion/Charging Bull+Combat Roll/whatever you have that can get you there faster, maybe?
You're right on Skyhold (though I suppose it depends where the borders of each territory end; it could be considered the Dales despite being in the Frostbacks), but where does it say the Storm Coast is west of Jader? ![]()
No worries, I don't have a bad side.
... Can't always speak for my inquisitors though. It'll be a while before I get to this part of the game, but I'm looking forward to trying it out.
