On nightmare and started at level 18.

As you all probably guessed, I spent most of the time today in Crestwood trying to kill the dragon. To cut a long story short, I failed on 4 attempts. Then I cut the party down to the inquisitor and just Vivienne because the electric circle was annoying I didn't even realise that you can dispel the effect until today. I didn't really do anything different. The inquisitor died straight away so I controlled Vivienne and started the spirit blade attack on loop until the dragon fell. It probably took about 5-10 mins which is pretty short by my normal standards :) (Second dragon on nightmare complete). I didn't get that much experience from the dragon and I still was at lv 18.

.
How much electricity resistance and protection do you have?

Ah now I see the reason why:

Inquisitor (assassin) - Electric Resistance 0%

Vivienne - Electric Resistance 12%

I was carrying Electric tonic which gives 60% resistance over 180 secs

I should probably prepare my armour more beforehand

Edit: I tend to opt for style rather than utility it seems.

There's some good resistance gear in the Solasan temple in the Forbidden Oasis, but it requires a lot of shards. If you get desperate, try some shard hunting. A break and some extra xp might help too :)

Today I found out that you cannot run over great bears, which should not come as a surprise since you can't run over the regular ones either. However they are too wide to successfully cross some bridges.

Sometimes I find the shards more frustrating than the dragon fights . (Especially the ones you can see but cannot reach)

I have had many "break" moments today. After each failed attempt I turned DA off and had a tea break .  Unless you mean a DA in-game break such as listening to the bard. I might try that as well.

The one thing about fighting dragons, they are the only ones that require, if the player desires, to have any resistance at all. Of course to have that resistance, you may need 3 sets of armor to have on hand depending on what defenses are added.

I usually have fire resistance and stick with it. If I have a mage in my party or I play as a mage, my first concern is keeping barriers up for the others. It may take longer to kill the dragon, but at least  I don't run out of health potions or have any companions taking a dirtnap by the time the  dragon is dead.

I've found both kinds of breaks help me if I'm getting frustrated in most games :)

And yes, the first time I collected all the shards...so, so frustrating. I've done it a few times now so I (mostly) know how to get up to them, but those ones on top of what seem to be little hills? With no obvious path (and there's always an obvious path but I'm usually on the wrong side of the hill) nearby? Those were the bane of my existance :P

And then of course Cassandra would always manage to find her way up first, and I'd still be half way down the hill flailing to get up but then when I switch to her she decides she doesn't actually want to help and and just slides right back down, past Inky. [disgusted noise]

The shards aren't bad. I collected them all in my first playthrough and they were a pain at times. Now its not so bad. It also takes a lot less time to collect them than the first time I did it.

Yeah. I got DAI on PS3, then was surprised to recieve a PS4 over the holidays so I ended up getting the platinum trophy twice. The second time (on ps4) I did it all in one playthrough and was surprised by how much easier the shards are once you know what you're doing and are already wandering every inch of the world. They're a nice way to get you to explore more, too.

Admittedly, still not the best distraction if you're already annoyed at the game, though :P

There's a couple of shards in the Forbidden Oasis that still infuriate me to reach, but other than that they aren't so bad. I like the shard hunts. As fetch quests go, I think the Ocularums and the temple are a pretty good concept.

Dorian's quest had me like aaawwww.

Rejected at home for his sexuality, hated anywhere else for being from Tevinter. People he can count on are rare.

Seeing Dorian so happy and grateful for your support during and after dealing with his father was just heart warming.

Because Dofni will be romancing Blackwall in my game too, that's pretty much the only reason I didn't want to pick Champion as a specialization. I like having as wide a variety of skills as possible when I'm out wandering, but I dunno, we'll see which of the trainers I like best, heh.

OMG...it took me forever to find champion number 2. I searched all over Halin'sulahn and did pretty much everything there was to do there but no champion. I found all the Dirthamen glyphs, closed all the rifts, helped out the Dalish for about 75% approval so far, fought non-rift demons multiple times, and still no champion. Then, just when I was about to give up after about an hour plus of wandering, there he was. Finally! In comparison, champions 1 and 3 took me about 2 minutes each to come across once I got to the right area. <_<

Also, still avoiding the undead in the ramparts. My map looks pretty funny because of that.

I did this one today too. I kind of nudged him in the direction of reconciliation this time though. Also did Solas' quest with his spirit friend. That one always makes my heart ache. One of these days I won't stop him from killing those idiot mages.

Btw, I finally got my romance going with Blackwall. Totally worth the wait.  Now I just have to slog through both Adamant and the Winter Palace to get to the next stage.....ugh, that's going to take a long time playing on hard. Though technically I could do either/both missions now.....hmmm

I haven't gotten anywhere close to this point in my game yet, but this is good to know in case I do want to be a champion. Kinda sounds like it was easier for Hawke to become a champion than this, heh.

Awww, I can't watch this yet, heh. Don't want to spoil my own Blackwall romance thing. Of course, I haven't recruited iron Bull yet, so he's still an option... No. Nope, gonna stick to the plan.

Haven't even started messing with the CC yet for future playthrough #3 - I was trying to get that multiplayer weekend challenge done starting yesterday, so I tootled around on my Arcane Warrior. It was surprisingly easy to solo and rack up gold medals (and I was around level 8 or 9 when I tried it). Got most of it done last night and knocked out the last couple of medals this morning. I <3 Arcane Warriors.

I take my breaks in the MEverse. Breaks, procrastination, meh.

However, Susannah (Deosil is going to be my completionist pt (ha, yeah right)) is not too sure about being mooned by the envy demon at Therinfal. Sheesh, so rude. If she had her way, the Inquisition would be owing her a new pair of boots. Anyway the procrastination comes in with the fade adventure. Got stuck in there with not enough health potions. Must've missed one of the caches. The good thing (maybe not for Cullen) is that she is there with Warden Alistair. He is soooo nice and Hawke is such a cranky pants, you may well guess who's coming home.

Also have Simon Trevelyan waiting in the wings to come along and sweep Cass off her feet. Speaking of Cass I have decided her defining moment is during dialogue with Sera.

Sera says 'I don't want you teach me anything, just stand in front of me'.

Cass says 'That I can do'.

Our protector.

Haven't tried the MP side of it yet. I was the same in ME3. Always meant to, and I actually did play it for a bit, but got my ass kicked by a bunch of cannibals throwing grenades and never went back to it.

(playing on NM)

"You have waylaid all his other plans. Now, as a petulant child, he would destroy the gameboard rather than admit defeat.

Be ready for anything. He still believes himself a God, and Gods do not fall gracefully."

Such were the words told to Kuruk when he last spoke with Solas about Corypheus. With a giant rift now tearing the veil and threatening to swallow the world, Solas' words seemed prescient. Kuruk mustered his allies and prepared to face Corypheus and his false-Archdaemon head-on at the ruins of the temple of Sacred Ashes.

ecYuMZ4.png

Corypheus as usual, spouted megalomaniacal nonsense in nearly Shakespearean melodrama and unleashed powers that literally ripped the ruins from the ground. Kuruk however, wasn't fazed. Even when Corypheus' dragon appeared, Kuruk didn't flinch. He'd brought something to match his dragon; yet another dragon, tamed after he passed the trials of Mythal at her shrine. He also finally believed in himself, and in Andraste. If Varric did, Kuruk felt he had no excuse to continue doubting and denying his purpose.

g0NfKKa.png

While Corypheus clashed with Kuruk and his allies - Solas, Iron Bull, and Cassandra, with the others fighting fade daemons elsewhere - the two dragons fought each other viciously. Yet, even Mythal's dragon fell to the false-Archdaemon of Corypheus, and Kuruk and co. prepared to face it alone. It however, soon fell victim to a powerful swipe from Iron Bull as Cassandra unleashed her Templar abilities on it, and Kuruk finished it off with a vicious stab to its neck. Corypheus became even more desperate as he attempted to summon even greater power from the elven foci he'd acquired.

wOLMGnw.png

pQIVpB1.png

That desperation would prove his undoing, and with the power of the Anchor, Kuruk banished the broken Corypheus and sealed the rift. The victory, however, was bittersweet; the foci Solas hoped to preserve was inevitably destroyed.

Spoiler

In spite of the setback that continued to bewilder him, Kuruk and his allies returned to Skyhold, the world now healing with a scar resting in the sky as a reminder of the Herald's great struggle. Kuruk was incredibly tired, and hoped to eventually rest for days if not weeks. But first...

WEiy2Yn.png

Josephine had probably spent hundreds of sovereigns preparing a festival to celebrate their victory; all the cake, spirits, and food would probably not be good for his health in the long run, but he enjoyed the moment for what it was regardless. He spoke to his advisers and his inner circle, and for the first time in months, he felt like a person again, rather than a symbol to be adored and worshiped. He almost felt brave enough to play another game of Wicked Grace with them, provided the resident card shark Josephine didn't goad Cullen into losing all of his clothes in a foolish bet again. It was also nice to finally see Leliana genuinely happy, and not hiding behind a veneer like she'd been trained in her dealings as a bard. Justinia was finally avenged. Kuruk teased the man formerly known as Blackwall yet another time about his recruit status, and then wished him luck when the time finally would come for his joining. Luckily, Sera had not spiked any drinks or resorted to any of her mischievous schemes... for now.

After what seemed an eternity, Kuruk was finally ready to retire when his kadan approached and asked to speak with him, although knowing Bull, a conversation could very well have meant *ahem* something else. He thankfully, was wrong. Sorta.

Spoiler

Kuruk had done the impossible; a Tal-Vashoth mage from a mercenary band uniting nations with an unparalleled wealth of intrigue, diplomacy, and sheer military might. The Inquisition now rivaled other empires, with a host of allies that continued to outpace any enemies formed. Among the nobility he was once considered nothing greater than an ox; those same circles now adored him, or rather, the reputation his name carried with him - he was learning the Game much faster than either Josephine or Leliana anticipated. A part of him knew he'd see Solas again; he hoped that they'd still be friends when they met again. But for now...

Time for another conversation with his kadan.

Thanks, heh. Maybe someday, after I've at least tried NM once first. A bazillion PTs of ME3 on casual did nothing to prepare me for MP. All it did was make me lazy.
