I know that I'm being a little OCD about this and not everybody has the same problem, but the game is nearly unplayable for me right now. My character always looks completely off whenever I stare at him and it's so aggravating that I actually have to stop playing after a little bit for the sake of my sanity.

I've even tried remaking my  character (like a dozen times) but the controls are so finicky and delicate - I always end up having a guy whose nose is bigger than I intended, or whose beard clips with his skull structure. There's no way to save my face from last time, so on a new game I have to start from scratch and adjust the little controls, and inevitably I will get it wrong.

I was waiting for Dragon Age: Inquisition for a year, during which time I know for a fact people requested a Mirror, and it's really stupid to me that you don't have this feature. I don't know if you're holding out to release it on DLC (actually I'm pretty sure that was the original intent) but unless the DLC is less than a dollar and coming out next week, that's unacceptable. We were told that the Character Creation screen would closely reflect what we see in the game and that's essentially a blatant lie - there are so many different lighting situations and expressions your character makes that it would be impossible to properly reflect that in a creator.

Please, please, please, just let us change our appearances. It's so easy. It can't possibly take up that much of your time or resources. I know that people are complaining about a range of stuff right now, but I'm sure this wouldn't take that much of your focus away. I can't even get past the introduction; I've "gotten to the forward camp with Cassandra" so many times only to realize that my character looks like a total idiot that it's not funny anymore.

Call me shallow, or obsessive, or whatever you want to call me - I'm sure some of those things are true - but I just can't bring myself to enjoy this game even though I really want to. I know there are others that feel the same and probably a LOT of people who want this option even if they don't care as much as I do. I CAN'T PLAY. I'm forcing myself to play some other games that aren't nearly as interesting because all I have to do is look at my Inquisitor and my blood starts boiling. Why couldn't you just add a mirror? PLEASE.

After the second patch, some people reported that their characters' make-up, scars and features changed, and (with sympathy and apologies to those people), I'm almost glad that it happened because MAYBE it might force Bioware to deal with this earlier. They seem to have taken a lot of cues from Skyrim and Skyrim added in a face editor alongside a DLC, but this is a completely different type of game - I have to stare at this guy talk ALL the time. Also, Skyrim let you change your face by console. Can we at least have that? Let us press a series of buttons on the keyboard, and it brings the character creator (that you already made and have the resources for) back up so we can make adjustments. How easy is that? It's insane that I'm actually typing this out - I should already have been able to change my guy and just kept playing. Seriously, just do this. Not because I'm more important than people who are having other bugs but because it would take you no time whatsoever.

There should be a Black Emporium 2.0.

Much needed after this Patch 2 Catastrophe.

Again, I really don't want to seem cruel to the people who had this problem - it would make me so angry and my sympathies go out to them - but in all honesty hearing that people lost scars or changed make-up or whatever gave me a glimmer of hope. (And also, people were talking about missing or invisible complexion/hair options in the Character Creator, meaning at least some people will have made characters without the full range of the Creator and might be unhappy with their appearances). Adding in this option, which a large number of people have already been asking for, seems like the easiest solution.

Edit: In another topic, someone said that his young-looking character in a save before the patch was given an elderly complexion, and that a number of complexion options disappeared from the Character Creator. So people who created characters before this patch had their face changed, and the people who created characters after the patch were unfairly forced to choose from a far smaller range of possible faces. Do the right thing, Bioware. Don't try to fix this through through some complex shenangians; just kill two birds with one stone and let us edit faces midgame. We'll thank you for it, I promise.

They've already said it's something they're looking at.

I suspect it will be introduced either with DLC or as a free content update sometime in the new year.

It should already have been in the game and I'm petitioning to have it put in as soon as possible. "As soon as possible" is like, two days from now, that's how easy it would be to implement, but I'm definitely not trying to drag this out into "sometime in the new year."

And since people had catastrophic results, with some characters' faces changing with different make up or even becoming elderly, and others were forced to make faces with a broken Creator, waiting indefinitely before charging us 5 bucks for a Mirror might not be an option.

For reference:

i4JE0OE.png

Someone posted that picture after installing the new patch. And apparently if you go into the Character Creator right now (which I can't do at the moment), the customization options are messed up and missing and stuff. So the people who make a character after today, but before this gets fixed, have been screwed.

Letting them, and the rest of us, just change our faces would not only fix the patch issue but give us something that we've been asking for for MONTHS before Inquisition came out. And it'd be cheap and fast for Bioware.

I'm still astounded by this decision, honestly. When Inquisition was in development and they had a chance to just add a mirror, they said, "No, we won't do that." The entire community at that point was like "Please add a mirror" and they told us to go have sex with ourselves.

I'll add my voice to this chorus.  Implementing an in-game appearance editor might make coverage like this unnecessary:

YAAAASSSS!!! Do like ya did in DA2 Bioware and give let us customize our characters later in the game. Not sure why we couldn't do this out the bat but put it as future dlc I will get it. As for now soooo not downloading that patch until I am done with my first playthrough.

To be honest, I would pay for the DLC, too. But playing the game it's painfully obvious that a Mirror/Black Emporium option was necessary from the beginning. I already bought the game and want to enjoy it; I don't want to wait for months on a DLC. It's ridiculous. Changing my guy's face after I've already had enough time to finish the game 10 times is no good.

Well, it's doable.

I hit a point in the game where I was given the option of using an old DA2 character face or custom it via CC.

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but can we (BSN) please not start with "petitions" again? In the ME3 forums, it seemed like there was at least a petition a day for the most specific things. I understand your frustration here, and, admittedly, I haven't had this particular problem, but I'm positive BIoware is aware of it. Judging by past actions, they put character options pretty much first on the list. Once again, I agree that the problem sucks, but a petition on a forum is most likely not going to get a problem that's most likely already being worked on solved any faster.
(I mean no offense to OP, either, I just hoped I'd never see "Petition" in another thread title.)

A petition is just a request to do something. Many if not most of the threads on this forum are, by definition, petitions.

Sorry if it annoys you, though. Never been to the Mass Effect 3 forum and I guess if you got used to seeing the word "petition" appended to everything it might be annoying.

The thing about Bioware already being aware is that awareness is not enough. People were asking for a Mirror WAY back when the game was in development and they didn't listen; I would agree that Bioware's fanbase does have a tendency to be a little demanding, but it also has to be noted that we have high expectations from Bioware based on past performance, while at the same time (especially after being bought by EA), they just don't seem to listen at ALL unless people get nasty and raise a stink.

As to a thread on the forum being ineffective, I guess I'd tend to agree. I don't think they care about anything that's said on these forums, really, but this is the closest I can get to expressing my frustration to them; I don't have their CEO's phone number or anything. Someone posted a link to an online article basically raising the same concerns and that's probably more likely to change their minds. If effectiveness at convincing Bioware or EA to do something was a criterion for posts, though, this forum would be empty.

I didn't need this function in DAO or DA2 (or any other game I've played, really), but in DAI I definitely see the need for this. First, what the characters look like during play seems to be vastly different than what they look like in the creator - much different than in the previous 2 games, making it very hard to create a character that looks like what you wish during play. And second, like many others, the "Patch" today borked my character appearance ever so slightly (it appears to have chosen a different age - my character WAS middle-aged, and now looks much younger). Considering how long it took me to get my character looking right in the first place (about a half-dozen tries in the character creator), it's a bit annoying to have it messed-up by a patch after many hours of play.

The easiest solution might be to provide us with a character editor somewhere in the game. Alternately, you could provide the console command (if it exists) so that at least those of us playing on PCs can fix the problems.

Lucky me, I'm finding some the good things so far, maps updated in some areas and the like.  Fixing the skyhold is a snap now!

An emporium like in DA2 with the character reset would make these fixes to characters very easy a lessen complaints in general.

Thanks. That's genuinely helpful information and I'm glad they're looking into it. This seems like a far more concrete answer on the issue than anything we've gotten previously.

Also, some people's voices changed and they're suggesting that this tool would be used to fix the the voice bugs, too, which gives me hope that this will be implemented sooner rather than later. Really does put my mind at ease.

Edit: I hope they add the feature ASAP and they're not just jerking us around - "looking into it" is still a vague description - but Bioware and EA do seem to have stepped up their PR and customer support game for DAI so I'm cautiously optimistic that I can start enjoying my game soon.

I know it's not a popular opinion, but I've realised recently that I actually like that I can't change my character's appearance in game.

It makes every decision made during character creation feel much weighter and forces me to be more accepting of my character's physical flaws while playing the game. My elf Inquisitor's nose is a bit too big - not unrealistically so, just a little off - I'm sure I'd have changed it had I noticed during the CC (it doesn't help that the nose slider options cover up the Inquisitor's nose when viewing them in profile) but I think I prefer the imperfection to what I could have got. It makes him more human.

You know, even though he's an elf.

I kind of wish my guy's nose was a little too big instead. I tried to get it just right but now it's too small. The nostrils look all shrunken and it looks like he had a botched nosejob.

I too think it would be great if we could get the black emporium in DAI.. but I would also LOVE to be able to save my characters,  when you spend a long time making them just perfect, and they actually turn out that way, it would be nice to save the characters individually so you could use that same one again on a different play through :)

Wait, I was under the impression the voice bug had been fixed in Patch 2. It's still there?
