Just adding a voice to the cries in the wilderness.

My inquisitor was a victim of the voice swap bug, and in the hope that it would revert when the patch came out I just kept playing with the wrong voice.  Now it appears that the patch does not revert the voice and my only options are to 1) continue playing with a voice that doesn't suit my rp vision (mock me if you will, but immersion is important to me) or 2) start over back at the scene where the voice glitched, many game hours ago.  Neither really appeals.

Could we have a hotfix for the voice maybe?

And "Nor is it in most games" is a maddening response. What "most games" do is irrelevant, and just because that's what "most games" do doesn't make it right. It's like people just keep doing it because that's the way it's always been. It's attitudes like that that make me want to slap people upside the head. Snap out of it!

I'm really glad I managed to provoke him into this response (yes, he posted that in response to me stating it's a must-have feature for an AAA game), because it shows that he hasn't played a single video game with character customization released after Mass Effect 1. Fallout 3 and NV had it because Oblivion had it, and Skyrim and TESO had it because Oblivion had it, and Saints Row has always had it, and DA2 had it, and it was done by fanmade tools for ME2 and ME3 (and later for ME1 as well) SPECIFICALLY because BioWare fudged it up themselves.

And you know why Oblivion had it? Because people modded it into Morrowind, IIRC. And there were fanmade tools to handle it for Buggerfall as well, which sort of demolishes any possible argument that this is a new fad.

It's like "have you read the feedback on your own company's previous games"?

I have nothing against Darrah, but that comment was insane and I feel trolled having read it. It just isn't a valid or acceptable response to customer frustration from somebody who works for the company.

After what seems like several thousand restarts, I finally managed to create a decent looking character who doesn't immediately look ridiculous after you start playing. I still have some issues with the way he looks but it's acceptable to me - at least, acceptable enough for me to just play with this guy until we finally get the option to change appearances in Skyhold.

This will be my only playthrough until the issue is fixed, however. I tried playing 10-20 hours with a face that I hated and it was simply aggravating. I then tried to make a good face by restarting the game ad nauseum, and it absolutely crushed my spirit and soured me against a game I really like. (After making the satisfactory face just now, I simply saved my game instead of finishing the introduction; I'll have to continue later in the day because I'm just mentally exhausted from adjusting the same little controls in CC over and over again). I want to try other classes and races as well but I'm simply not willing to go through that again until this change is made.

Also, I have now literally memorized Leliana and Cassandra's interrogation scene word for word and will be able to recite it on demand until the day I die.

We've already been down that road and discussed this.

...I understand your frustration here, and, admittedly, I haven't had this particular problem, but I'm positive BIoware is aware of it. Judging by past actions, they put character options pretty much first on the list....

I understand your position on petition but saying that I would like to point out they don't put character options pretty much first on the list post-release. Mass Effect supported one character through 3 installments (pretty impressive goal itself) but they completely changed meshes in the last one to the point it was impossible to import or recreate your character as it looked in previous ones.
They never fixed that and chose to ignore the issue.

I think a bit of, let's say, caution is in place.

Someone posted that picture after installing the new patch. And apparently if you go into the Character Creator right now (which I can't do at the moment), the customization options are messed up and missing and stuff. So the people who make a character after today, but before this gets fixed, have been screwed.

About that before/after....OUCH!

This just came in:

Some news from twitter again:

1.@BioMarkDarrah Where is WALK button for PC ? You say it will be with this patch...

@Nikolaev0827 we had to pull it because it had serious issues. Still working on it

2.@BioMarkDarrah Are we not able to fix our characters' voice now that patch 2 has launched? Must I start over to fix this issue?

@AlexandusRex we are looking into a face changer like DA2. With that you would be able to fix the issue.

Jesus Christ. "I'm still here. We will look into player customization options. No promises"

What the hell is there to look into? Just add it and stop trolling us. What kind of bull**** is this? You say "no promises" when there's a chance of failure or you might not be able to do it; we already know that this is the kind of thing you could add tomorrow if you wanted to so that doesn't work.

At least explain WHY you wouldn't, Bioware. Tell me why you want some of us to be unhappy with the game when the change we're asking for is so easy.

I can only speak for myself of course, but I don't need the character creator injected into the world in some "meaningful" way. I don't need magic mirrors, crafted potions, plastic surgeons, or anything else.

Pause menu > Settings > Character Creator

Done.

I agree, wish we could find a magic plastic surgeon or something. Tho, just a character edit in the menu would be fine too.

Look at the bright side guys. At least we don't have to sit through a 15 minute unskipable beginning like ME2.

True enough.  I timed it once.  After the first 7 minutes, you get control of Shep for 1-2 minutes (depending upon how long it takes you to get to the cockpit.)  Then it's another 6 minutes before you can actually get full control of your character and start your game.  That's if you skip past the first cutscenes of Shepard almost waking up and then Miranda telling him/her to get up.

Agreed.  Whatever gets this implemented as quickly and cleanly as possible.  No need for a Black Emporium DLC, no need to install a mirror in Skyhold and make us complete In Your Heart Shall Burn before adjusting our character.  Just a simple, elegant, expedient solution.

Whatever fix that was for the voice, cause me to crash at that point, can't complete the game.

I'd love a face changer, since the actual game face looks nothing like in the creator, and I also have some sort of gaming OCD, I've started over like 12 times already, it's a really annoying thing to have.

The Elder Scrolls way is best, I think -> when you get to Haven, and first wake up, the future Inquisitor is handed a mirror to check whether they can recognize themselves, as a way to check brain damage.

"Yep, I'm good." <( )> "Holey moley, what happened to my face! Polyjuice Potion, stat!"

And a quickie no-race-only-face-and-voice-changer editor thingie.

AND then you add the mirror to Skyhold, because some games feel better with immersion if you can change your character over time (my favorite pastime: accumulating tattoos in Saints Row as time goes by).

Letting them, and the rest of us, just change our faces would not only fix the patch issue but give us something that we've been asking for for MONTHS before Inquisition came out. And it'd be cheap and fast for Bioware.

I'm still astounded by this decision, honestly. When Inquisition was in development and they had a chance to just add a mirror, they said, "No, we won't do that." The entire community at that point was like "Please add a mirror" and they told us to go have sex with ourselves.

Daaamn your character was hit with the ugly stick bad o.o, my condolences.

I would contend that having a magical mirror might make it easier to have sex with myself.

The picture actually depicts a feature in the game. If you actually spend hundreds of hours doing all the side quests, your character starts to age. Like Fable.

I'm just kidding about that. People sometimes miss jokes.

That's what they're making, as I understand, but because of the voice bugs, they are forced to make it free.

Given how horrible the green fog of fade is during character creation, this should be a must. If you cannot even accurately tell the shade of your character's skin because someone thought it was a good idea to create it in a horrible green fog and then leave you in cut scenes so that you have to do a hard shut down of your system to try again since you cannot do anything during those scenes, then yes, there should be editing allowed.

UGLY GREEN FOG that's all I'm saying. Bad idea. Screws with CC.

Great to see that it's been taken note of and that they're working on fixing it.
