I think its ridiculous some people actually spend real money on a failed game. paying $10  just for rubbish duplicate level 1 item? So nasty.

I think it is absurd how they don't lower the price of platinum, so many more people would buy it if it were 1/2 or 1/4 the price(including myself). But as it sits now, $10 worth of platinum takes me just over an hour to collect. I am glad when companies give you an option like this, but they really need to price things more realistically. Better to sell to 10% of public than .1%.

To OP: My understanding is that the term 'Money Grab' usually refers to pushing out an unfinished product or selling upgrades/dlcs that should have been included with the game itself. Not sure how saying 'hey, if you are rich and want to spend money instead of time playing, here you go!' is considered a money grab.

The loot system in this mp is so bad it hurts their bottom line in many different ways. Just in case bioware doesnt know, your loot system is universally despised. And your players who despise it are not going to buy it with cash. Fix the chests and make yourselves more money.

The loot system in multiplayer is pretty good. I keep getting useful items from demons and salvage them to get materials.

I wish they would add a chest that only houses items that are item level 18-23. That can't be to hard to implement right?

1)It's not a scam, just a shitty business model.

2)It's completely optional.

3)A fool and his/her money are easily parted.

Such is life.

Chests got buffed this patch I think. The next 2-3 chests I opened. Contained a rare-quality shield, level 23 Emporer Guard Blade, Smash - A high level maul, and a high level bow.

Either RNG Loves me recently, or They're trying to make things easier for people.

This is the least money grab game I have ever played, they don't make it that hard to earn gold and really add no incentive such as as better chance at good items for buying them. I do agree that the RNG model falls apart to the point of ridiculousness when you have a pool of items and level ranges this large. There should be a way to eliminate certain items or item levels from your pool at some point and it would really help to alleviate the frustration of not finding useful items for long periods of time. This issue alone has probably cost Bioware a good (conservatively) 25% of the people that started and really liked this game but the whole bad RNG system has driven them off. I don't know any business model where that is acceptable but hey if that is OK for them so be it, bad loot system yes, money grab no way.

The only reason people buy platinum is because the RNG store is purposely broken and then lose patience with it. The store itself even the took the pi s during a joke in the Citadel DLC from ME3 when a N7 Fury and the Store Acquisitions Officer were discussing it as she expressed continued outrage about receiving a lot of useless gear she won't use while Krogans received the vice versa. Then the devs proceeded to add nearly the exact same store model back into this game.

Would it be nice if one day a month the devs purposely made it so that there was a better chance of a blue or purple card appearing in chests or that they were 3/4's the regular price in gold? Sure; a lot of people would love it. However, they will never do anything of the sort because:

A. Attaining the "Axe of Violet Rarity and Pwnage" would let you get the numbers you want and wreck Routine and Threatening mode, and by their assumptions, having fans lose interest more quickly once they have the best gear; instead of taking into account that games like WoW, Dark Souls, and Diablo have been doing this for years and people continue playing them anyways because they are fun and continually challenging. I remember the first few times I beat Platinum mode during the Lodestar Challenge week and I legitimately had fun because there was a fair challenge to it and I had the equipment to actually handle it.

B. The multiplayer devs somewhat rely on purchasing things such as platinum to help fund the free dlc's they hand out.

Skylanders all over again, freemium at it's worse.

This entire multiplayer ride is absolutely nonsense.

3 maps with 3 types of enemy.

Items, and crafting, were given 0 thought. Apart from having a 0.1% drop rate, please buy platinum gold for that 0.1% drop rate.

Same drop rates on whatever difficulty played, no point in playing on hardest, except to get more exp to level to 20, and gold for those 0.1% drops.

There are no recipe / crafting / rune chests.

Separate item, and potions chests. Why is there potions chests, if I am getting potions from item chests?

No Epic chests. These could sell for x amount of gold like 10-50k.

Class individualized chests. Seriously if I go out shopping as archer, I will only buy archer items, not because I might be some kind of cross dressing mage.

Loot that isn't player level relevant or gained items that aren't individualized from any gains on multiplayer missions. Why am I getting a sheild when playing as an archer from mission rewarded items?

No 50/50 on gold or item from recovered mission chests, not enough items from event chests.

lvl 20 only, could have been more.

4 talents is a rip off, the potion mapping should have been from the bumpers or bi-directional keys. Not the pointless useless noob emotes

The banter is all muted, it could have be kool for boss kills and kill streaks. Not those stupid sad repeated stories, like, once upon a time in band camp, got shafted in the deep roads

Prestiging but not selecting want individual attributes pertain to that prestige, plus +1 cunning as the model for every class """"off. Sure some classes can use the 0.1% crit, but I would rather attribute myself mana stam health or any other options to the roles individually played.

This is not an RPG, but an attempted co-op frag fest, and I would rather be playing any other dedicated shooters. Then this attempt at generating greedy profits for a company which cannot design their multiplayer levels here to any degree of competence, or standard. Judging by their half assed backgrounds with incredibly poor textured scenery, half a window design into a wall, or half a mountain sticking out of nowhere. Eye sores! Forget about mentioning, all player freezing. AI glicthes, no key is gained for progression, or the AI getting themselves stuck in walls preventing completion.

Play it once and you will have played this entirely pointless multiplayer ride.

To be honest you make a ton of very valid points, one other one that has always had me confused is why in the store can you buy platinum to buy chests, why would they not just sell you gold? It makes me feel in my conspiracy theory heart that, even though on a small scale (100$ or so just to test) there doesn't seem to be a difference, it just doesn't make any sense at all unless there actually is. Besides that, I only commented on this because your comment about the player commentary literally made me laugh so hard I had tears bro... You win, you win the internet.

The drop rate is the same, it shouldn't make any difference, platinum to gold. Although really no I am still only ever gonna get 0.1% return, from those boxes which don't even read according to their descriptions. ITEM or POTION.

A greedy exploit, because some people just don't want to whittle away the hours playing 3 glitched up maps. So the conspiracy is getting the Dev's to make some video's, about just the type of items you can dream of, from that 0.1% drop rate. Because those items must in the game somewhere. Meanwhile some fool is gonna buy their 10k APP. Upon hearing about that lottery winner, what was their gold farming name?

The multiplayer model is pointless beacuse it is not fun at all. There was not enough custiomization per class, be it from, items, drops, levels, talented abilities, gear. The entire design is so awfully absurd, actually requiring surgery...

Meanwhile. Shaming those sad stupid players playing at those 3 maps over and over again to achieve that same ridiculous 0.1% drop. Leaderboards are also based on the most played, how sad. Some people actually wanna play games at the hardest difficulties and get rewarded for those Ultra Kill streaks, which should flash in atomic lettering, when hearing such slogans, like, YIPPIE KI YAY. So they then play that multi player experience again and again because the model is now KOOL. Getting fully Epic'ed  to their choices of mastered class, with additional bonuses being implemented, to challanges, crafting, and difficulties. Not cunningly play every class to level 20 because an archer might get a mage staff or vice a versa, but they can only go so far in opening up a million boxes, these aren't tailored to fit any particular specifications.

Boringly instead a pointless exploitive waste of time, cannot, be considered as fun by any means of imagination.

But please buy cash for gold

The good part is that's it is optional(that's what really counts) and the dlc is supposed to be free. But ya its a bit ridiculous to see an option to pay 50 dollars for ingame money.

While I do agree with the majority of the points you make, how can you call 2 games that objectively aren't freemium in any way, "freemium at its worst"?

Cash for gold break that item down to get shiny's to then break that down to get more shiny's.......

Comparison to skylanders is valid buy your skylander with 3 moves. Is there much difference too having 3 maps with 3 enemy types, but here you get a bonus ability. But please buy the next one for those 3 extra moves because they are so much different. This multiplayer is freemium, what the hell do you actually get? Then it still wants too try to charge you for its substandard gameplay, loot, maps, customization, by pretending that you actually get something more from that 0.1% drop. Quick go collect more shiny's, or buy them, what do I care?

We are already paying too many premiums to the worlds greediest, the entertainment industry, who are such a blight on culture today  Where their trend is to milk the hell out of their customers when providing such sub standard releases all accross every board. These should have never been released had they taken the proper care too get them right to begin with. No, they won't. Because the next one has now got to be released, and the demand is always there for more of their substandard crap.

Would this type of game been released 10 years ago? Never is the answer to that question. Nobody would play it, this company would have gone bankrupt. But as media has gotten more global and advertising has then shouted to every corner, game of the year. Every ******* has bought a game which shouldn't have been released in its current state, and never without this tack on freemium multiplayer.

The point made is. This game and multiplayer has potential, and is enjoyable to when it is fully playable. However It was rushed and unfinished and holds a lack of imingation to final production. I would rather pay a subscription to quaility, then be charged for total rubbish....

While in opinion this multiplayer, is a total rip off, so many other releases do this type so much better, without trying to blatantly weasel more out of you, for lack of effort...

Some of the members with irrelevant input. I wish bioware actually read their forum, they would see posts like this and see how well and thought out some threads are, and also how bad some of their community is.

Outside of that, I actually enjoy the multi. But the rng system is broke. It took me until about 200+ prestige before I received a single purple, and many such drops  only came for many of my friends around the same prestige.

I also think there may of been a chest buff considering I received 4 purples good purples between two box just a few games ago.

The fact though that they could rip people off with such a broken system that only rewards you after a certain tally of chests and or prestige amount is baffling though.

That and the fact there is literally nothing for multi but they're intent on making it harder to play with all the crashes the last patch is causing/caused. And the fact the only content change we got was them removing the pedestal for the cursed chest.

Yeah .. optional:

---

"When you are six hours into playing Battlefield and you run out of ammo in your clip, and we ask you for a dollar to reload, you're really not very price sensitive at that point in time."

"A consumer gets engaged in a property, they might spend 10,20,30,50 hours on the game and then when they're deep into the game they're well invested in in. We're not gouging, but we're charging and at that point in time the commitment can be pretty high."

"But it is a great model and I think it represents a substantially better future for the industry."

I can only comment on the games I've played, since doing otherwise would be presumptuous, but I haven't spent anything on this game and have unlocked every character (not to mention some decent weapons and equips). I don't know if other EA properties do what you claim they do, since I haven't played a non-Bioware EA title in a few years, but ME3 and DAI haven't had these issues.
