Logged over 100 hours on this game now and I still don't understand the war room board markers.

I complete some quests and the marker goes away.  I complete another quest and the marker stays there forever tagged as 'complete'.

Can someone please explain why this occurs?  It feels random to me and the board ends up being very cluttered with 'complete' markers towards the end of the game.

I've wondered the same thing. Also, do we know if uncompleted quest markers disappear from the table after a time?

Cole's helping your advisors with the map. Don't you remember?

Lol, jokes aside, I'm curious about this as well.

It depends on if there's a follow up quest or it's one you can repeat.

not entirely true.. some quests stick around even after they are completed and not main quests.. they just stay on the map saying "completed" but never going away.. this is what they are talking about.

I meant "Follow up mission"

The other thing I want to know is why some markers have a foot and others look like pins. At first I thought maybe Cullen's markers (the fist) were pinned into the board because that's thematically more... aggressive, I guess, but then I noticed some of his pins do have the foot.

I too am curious on this. The board is rather cluttered and being OCD I have to check all the markers every time I check the board. Those completed ones kind of bug me.

Could it be that the completed ones has more story or a continuation so that if you've forgotten you can look them up again?

On one of them, the one that said there were soldiers missing, I had one of my advisors find them. It is marked completed. However, I still need to go there to rescue the soldiers who are being held for ransom.

I also had a bunch of completed ones that stuck around to end-game. Including one from Act I which was completed, but stuck around for the whole game and still had a card under it.

I feel like their original plan was to support Espionage, Mercantile or Military Inquisitions... by how many markers you have of each on the board.

In this way - it would make more sense to have them present as you can see the aspects of your Inquisition as you shape Thedas.

Right now - I'm not using Leliana unless I have to just to satisfy a curiosity about whether favoring one or the other makes any difference at all.

The war room is quite confusing to me. Everytime I have to check everything from the scratch because there is no way to distinguish the completed quests from the other ones. New quests have the small yellow + on their top but once you have read the description it disappears.

Moreover, I have still to understand why the big areas where fast travel is allowed are marked as "completed" once that the initial scouting is performed.. they're not completed, I have still lots of things to do there!

And one last thing that puzzles me is why some area like Val Royeux are only accessible from War Table once then they are locked forever and the only way to go there is through the world map..

I had to create an excel file in order to keep tracks of everything.
