I didn't see a specific thread on this issue, but for those that didn't know many of us are getting a 'can't connect to the EA server to validate the game on this computer' message when we try to load up. Validating the cache, logging out of Origin, rebooting, re-installing does nothing. I had been really enjoying the 138 hours I have in, and want more. I'll say it again, how could a patch so untested be released, and damn me for forgetting to turn off the Origin auto-update.

Patch broke something with the game's license check up. It is a known issue back from the release that was supposedly fixed and is now resurfacing after the patch.

With luck, the fix is still the same and they just have to apply it again. If not, have fun with the backlash, BioWare.

I had no problems playing the game until this patch. Now I get the cannot connect to servers error as well. Am I seriously going to have to find a crack to play a game I paid for? And these game developers wonder why everyone pirates their games. It's because the pirated versions actually freaking work. This DRM bullshit just hurts the people who actually bought the damn game. The hell. First Mass Effect 3 and now Dragon Age Inquisition. Seems like BioWare loves to bug out their own DRM to make their games unplayable.

Patched game right when I got off work. Got excited since I haven't been able to play in two days. Fired it up.

"An error has occurred! We can't connect to EA servers!"

Awesome. I'm glad you can't validate the game I payed $80 for and have 120 hours in but I'd really like to play the game. Thanks.

This is ridiculous.

There are dozens of new reports popping up every 5 minutes on the EA answers board, this has affected thousands and the only EA response is a joke about horse armor.

Oh, I hope that crappy armored horse did not break this!

Had the same error, for me it worked to close both DAI and Origin, then start DAI in admin mode.

After 136 hours put in, this crap happens. Please fix it so that I can return to the wonderful world of Thedas.

Really love the game DA: I but why must it be on the crappy EA Origin platform??? :crying:  :crying:  :crying:

The last EA game I bought through Origin was Dragon Age Origins. The crappy thing cant even be downloaded through some kind of technical error. In the end, i have to buy a CD version that worked perfectly. Luckily I do earn enough to buy games, even the same one twice, but i pity those poor students who scrimp and save to get their games and has to face this issue.

After a few years, i thought Origin will be improved but apparently I am wrong. I will never buy another game off Origin again. Going back to Steam. At least the games there does not hang up on me like this. Extremely pissed....

Dear EA, please stop forcing us to use the Origin platform if you are unable to make it work. Being unable to play the game after investing so much time in it really sucks.

Quoted for truth. Thanks. That did indeed work. I had already restarted, and shut down my computer like 3 times, exited Origin and restarted etc etc.

Not sure how I didn't try this.

To be clear. I exited Origins on the toolbar to make sure it shut down completely, then I right clicked the DAI shortcut and ran with admin and it fired right up.

It's working for me now, but now I can complain that my hair is now a shiny plastic silver and my scars are gone.

It appears EA is finally plugging in their servers again. People report the game is working for them. However it's seemingly region based, as a good portion can not yet connect to the licensing servers. I suppose we just have to wait until whomever is currently walking through the server room is done.

Start Origins, login, select the game and then select play

Posted this in the other thread a little way down the page:

There's a number of threads in the technical support area.  They have a authentication issue post patch with the Origin servers from EA.  The two organisations will have to have a chat and fix it.  Hopefully they fix the graphics problem at the same time.

In the mean time enjoy real life :-)

Well, the game now started for me too. Now let's see how ugly my Inquisitor's gotten in the meantime.

Start you game from a shortcut. You need to add a special command: here like this in the Target line:

Right click on shortcut->properties->Target and add the command after the last "

"F:\Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

Bioware posted this workaround

Can that be used at the same time as the 60 fps cutscene fix?
