Hence the sarcasm mode. :P

But I disagree with you about it being uninspired. Yes, it's a fairly well known story element where desires are exploited by The Big Bad Evil™, but thats only because it's relatable. I always like that the inherent weaknesses of a hero, who is supposedly larger then life, show him/her to be a normal person. Note that I don't mean the crappy Envy demon we get in this game where you can basically go 'Lol, you're a demon. Screw you.'. The only thing uninspired about 'm was that it was purely sexualized, instead of sexuality being just an aspect of desire.

Hell, I wouldn't mind if they put clothes on 'm. I don't like 'm for the boobies (admittedly, it did make me look the first time I saw 'm :P), but for the reasons I described above.

Also, I certainly wouldn't mind male Desire Demons. It would fit quite well actually. Unless the entire population in the dragon age world are either straight guys or gay gals, it doesn't really make sense for there not to be male ones :P

I think the original demons were meant to be the seven deadly sins.

We got desire, or what most likely would have been lust, considering its appearance and impact (ignore the little girl and cat with the shale area...)

Glutton, not sure if there was an example of it...might be some where, shades maybe?

Greed, again not sure.

Sloth, well we got an actual sloth demon, so....

Wrath Rage demons. the big fire blob guys. total wrath.

Envy again, not sure.

finally, Pride aka, the biggest baddest of all the demons.

Well if you look at main villains in games.. DAO had Archdemon (no gender), Awakening had Mother (female), DA2 had Meredith (female) and Elder One seems to be male (I haven't played yet). So at least the main villains have enough females.

Why should desire demons be redesigned around a male appearance?  Demons don't have gender or biological sex, they are thoughts made manifest in the fade

Their appearance is supposed to reflect Desire and since strippers with nipple-chains isn't actually a universal desire it doesn't really make sense that all DDs appear as such.

Archdemon has been confirmed male.

I think playing the Legacy DLC from DA2 helps a lot.

I did. It helped a little, but not really.

And his character should be able to stand up on its own without any previous games. Which it didn't really.

At the end I was more worried about what sort of monster the inquisition may become, as organizations of such power and size rarely remain good for long.

I though they were genderless like darkspawn but okay then. Still doesn't take away from Mother and Meredith :)

The desire demons encompass both lust and greed. They are not just about sexual desire. They play off desires for anything really, like the Templar who was being tricked into thinking that he had a happy family life in the Ferelden Mage Tower. That was his desire. On that note the Desire Demons would probably also govern gluttony as well.

Then again I would think that envy would fall into the desire demon's realm as well, but the envy demons seem to be an entirely different category of demon from desire.

Funny thing is you being the most offensive in this thread :P

People having a discussion. Nobody is forcing you to be a part of it. The title should've been a big enough tip not to click on it.

The gamer community already went through this with violence in videogames (and still is in some countries, with the feminist banning of GTA in some Australian stores), but now most people realize violence in videogames doesn't create violence in real life.

After a few years most people will realize what we've known all along, the balance of male/female in videogames doesn't really matter. I'd even extend that to sexualization in videogames. People will also realize that seeing animated boobs won't make anyone treat women badly.

Yeah a magical discussion on the gender of the villains you face in a videogame. Complete with the same. exact. Arguments as the last 50 renditions of this very same type of thread, you know, the sjw jokes and the screaming about sexism and men are bad and patriarchy is trying to enslave women.

No one is forcing me sure, i am just here to point out how ridiculous and foolish these "conversations" are.

Well, I guess we agree then.

But can you imagine a male Desire constantly rubbing his crotch while he tries to seduce you with his 'desire'? The idea alone makes me laugh...

Oh gods.

I'd be trying to find a clinic for the poor demon.  That kind of rubbing isn't healthy.

Calpernia and the Duchess are female. Other main villains are Erimond, Alexius, Samson, and of course Corypheus. 4 for 2 seems acceptable to me. Not to mention Calpernia is by far the most interesting one of the bunch. Well, you could count Envy I suppose but do demons even count as being gendered anyway?

As for mooks it makes sense that Red Templars have almost no females, from what we've seen the Order is male-dominated. Venatori are Tevinter suprematists, so it's likely they overall prefer men. The bandits and such actually have a fairly big proportion of females, it's just that due to their armor and face-concealing helmets it's harder to see. I remember some of the assassin-types in the Western Approach are quit clearly female, having pilfered Isabela's clothing.

And of course, every single High Dragon has ladyparts, and they're the biggest, most badass creatures in the game. So there.

Is BioWare sexist for not making more female bad guys or are they sexist for even including one female bad guy ?

Female bad guy? ;)

About you trying to start a flame war, you mean? You're the one bringing up these issues. We're just talking about crotch-rubbing male Desire demons here :P

Nah, I wouldn't do that to Bull.  I'd take Dorian and Cass.  Cass' shock would be worth it.

Well, maybe.  See, I've never bargained with a demon once in the DA series.  They'd die too fast, unless there was a long enough cutscene.  I don't draw out those confrontations.  My reaction to any/all demons is to give them the Boo Treatment.

three games

DAO: archdemon - a dragon we don't care about sex

DA2: meredith - a female human

DAI: corypheus - a male darkspawn

so we have a dragon, a female and a male i don't see where we have more male than female .-.

Also, yes. Cass. Innocence.... broken.

That being said, enough about crotch-rubbing spirits. Starting to feel a bit dirty here.
