I might be wrong, but after I saw a few comments in dozens of threads in this section, it's raising the question if people just miss Hawke and not the game, cause quite frankly, the game was really rushed and bad,

DA2 had a generally tighter story and more personal feel, which presumably is making people appreciate it more since one of the commonly-identified flaws with DA:I is that it seems overly large. DA2 was also the only one that tried to do a narrative that wasn't about saving the world, and it would have been nice for BioWare to try and hone that new direction rather than ordering the full-scale retreat they did (even though it was obvious that after the backlash and lower sales they would do so).

DA2 was a poor game, without question, but it had some good ideas and some of those good ideas got jettisoned rather than improved.

Many people on this forum would probably prefer a pile of horse **** to DA:I.

Hrrm I can't really say that, I didn't go on the hate train with DA2, I left the station with the ME3 train.

Overall I think all the DA games have been good in their own rights, DA:O was of course, a fantastic epic, DA2 was not anywhere near its origination titles level but it was fun and playable and largely okay. DA:I has been a bit of a better example of how to tell a DA story using modern technology, it has its upsides and downsides as well but its a strong enough game.

DA2 could have been a master piece if they had just one more year of development, however that's just my opinion. Clearly some people feel it already is one or is a damn good game regardless, and in parts for me it really is. People are free to agree and disagree however they please, however.

Either you're baiting or you're a moron creating a thread like this.

The hell does it matter if people prefer a game over another?

There are two very big reasons to prefer Dragon Age 2.

I like both games, but do you know what would be awesome? A personal and save the world story mixed together. Let the antagonist steal the main character LI or close ally, attack our camp, give us missions we can't always "win" meaning the antagonist was one step ahead of us.

I'm actually really curious on why they prefer that rushed trainwreck over DA: I.

Satisfied?

DA2 had flaws and I think DAI is a better game, but I can see why people might like it more.  As others have said the tighter focus of the plot and Hawke having a specific story helped the game because it didn't have to be so general to cover so many possibilities.  The constraints on player choice actually gave the writers more freedom.

DA2 flies of the rails a bit in Act III and that prevents me from saying its' a better game but it's still a game that's easy to replay more so in my opinion than the other two in the franchise.

I don't prefer it, but it has several things going for it that I think it does better, that I wish DA:I did as well.

Oh, and the idea of Hawke, Merill, Bethany and Varric adventuring together sounds really attractive to me, for the most part I was just tired of Kirkwall.

Da2 was in Dragon age spirit and had that certain flame, but DAI is to much like a MMO and the spirit of dragon age has diminished

People are of course welcome to prefer whichever game they want. Personally I didn't like DA2 and have found DA:I to be better in most if not all aspects.

I never understood the hate for DA2 - I loved it, though I do think DAI is superior.

I've seen this dynamic in other fandoms, particularly with the first ten Final Fantasies - or at least the ones released originally in North America.  The new one was always a horrible, disastrous failure compared to the brilliant masterpiece that was the previous one.  When the next one came out, the disastrous failure was always recycled as brilliant masterpiece.

I predict that when DA4 rolls around, people will have forgotten all the bad stuff they're saying about  DAI now :P

I honestly prefer DA2 over DA:I. I like how it has a personal story as opposed to a hero who saves the world story, because i feel closer and more attached to the characters. Hawke is my favorite protagonist ever and Anders my favorite companion character so there's that too. DA:I is not a bad game to me by any means, but I care more about the characters and story of DA2 so I enjoy it more.

I disliked DA2 cause of the lack of choices my Hawke had. I had to watch Hawke's mother die in 3 varieties that all led to the same outcome. The game just felt like I'm watching a movie instead of having the choice to change ****. Anders blowing the chantry still happens even if I don't help that ******. The Arishok resolution had a different outcome, you either kill him, or give him Isabella and he will leave.

In terms of graphics the game was ****, but that was understandable due to the short time Bioware had in order to work on it.
