It's not like your superior self could've ignored such a seemingly trivial task or anything.

Insubordination! How dare you question orders? This locket must be placed in a tree across the map! I will not speak of it futher. And where are my ram meats!?

Imagine if Commander Shepard had had to scavenge the recycling bins for some aluminum so he could piece together a set of armor. And harvest volus organs to synthesize his own medigel.

It would have added 20 hours to gameplay, brilliant!

Yeah! It's not like he went around scanning planets for minerals that were then used in tech and bio upgrades or anything...  ;)

Oh come on, buying and selling thrash is one of the staples of RPGs, the game just wouldnt be the same without it

Agreed. It wouldn't be the same, it would be better.

That didn't take very long though. While it was boring, people overstate how much time it took.

Last I checked, you're free to question orders given by non other than your OCD.

I don't think we mine the ore, I don't chip at it like some WoW toon. I part the bushes or climb into a cubby, examine the quality, then reference the find against the holdings. Maybe the game should show this better.

This is not a medieval fantasy; this fantasy is medieval, that is, here in Thedas elfroot is life. Sure you can say, fetch me elfroot, but it is usually better in many ways to secure my own health and not trust my  larder stocks to strangers, underlings, and rivals.

I am a needed field agent, rather, I am part of a team of combat experts. I have a unique and powerful station, yes, but I am not royal except as anyone is who points the sword. Why not call me a well meaning thug, or benevolent dictator, or whatever else occasions your view.

Game wise, I've used feints and cheats for more stuff and they don't necessarily make the fun last. The gray items are always needed if you want to like the blue items. I love that unexpected drop after a bit of time, I don't want Dagna to give me a new sword every time I level. That would suck.

The OP's idea is fine, it is just not this game, and I am sure this discussion was held at Bioware years ago

(i dont work for them)

And it was to make cutting-edge upgrades that he really couldn't get anywhere else. I don't have a problem with the inquisitor hunting for his own dragonbone.

I'm sure there will be a savegame editor where you can enter 99999 of every crafting resource and ignore it thereafter. It's what I did with ME2's planet scanning drudgery for follow up playthroughs. Personally I don't mind DAI's harvesting, but I can see how it's not for everyone.

It was epically long and boring until the Xbox got the PC patch equivalent to speed it up. I wanted to poke my eyes out.

If we take your logic to its conclusion, there'd also be no reason for you to leave Skyhold to do anything at all besides attending balls and closing rifts--which you would only do after your army cleared out the all the bandits and monsters and demons before you ever show up.

So you've got to suspend disbelief somewhere. I choose to suspend mine earlier in order to enjoy all of the game.

That said, though, while I choose to disregard your reasoning, I think your solutions are fine. I don't mind harvesting resources. But I think you're right, there are probably better ways to do it.

i remember that in Divinity 2 dragon knight saga when you reach the battle tower and become the new master of the tower,  you can have access to your pesonal servants  that can do all of this stuff for you.

Wish that even Inquisition when you reach skyhold give to you others people under the inquisitor to do this.

As the inquisitor I don't do jack. I send the agents to do it for me through the war table. I can get coins, iron, cloth and gems easily. The only downside is that I don't get too much for doing it compared to doing it by myself.

Well.

They changed it from da2 because bsn in all its wisdom hated that system. It was one of the main complaints on the board's.

Now you see why I say bio listens to its fans way to much. DA2 had a great solution, but oh well. I don't mind it, but da2 did that better.

Yup, the work ethos in Thedas is pretty bad. Note the fact that Skyhold, throughout the game, remains pretty much the same, with just a few minor cosmetic improvements.. I can only conclude blood magic was invented in order to boost economic productivity.

Too bad you can't sacrifice some underlings to 'boost the work ethos' among them... ^_^
