Pre-testing is not beneficial from a business perspective. (consoles)
Many would simply not buy this game.

If the game comes out only on a PC, a different matter. But who will refuse additional income?

Diablo 3 had a rather extensive beta test and it came out on consoles in the end. But I agree, the early access thing is mostly working on a PC. Maybe the experienced gathered in that period could translate and benefit the console releases too.

I prefer simplification to all those annoying behavior, RPG features that I'll never use. If it's straightforward and user-friendly, I'll give it a try.

That's why there are things called default settings. Games like Forza or Gran Turismo are playable by the masses (I know, I'm one of them) and tweakables by the car fans (I've seen sertings I don't even know what they're for :-) ). Why not the same degree of adaptability in RPGs.

My dears and darlings,

We are beta testing the game now. The moronic fools we are to buy this game at launch date, at an expensive price point and we end up beta testing it...

The only solution is to stop buying their games at launch...

This. Sadly, the type of people OP refers to aren't the target market anymore. Look up at the top of your screen. Bioware is a division of EA. They make big budget AAA games that appeal to as many people as possible, and that's not the old-style RPG we fell in love with Origins. Strategy, plot, characters, everything is simplified to be as generic as possible to get as many "one time" players as possible, because at the end of the day those of us who replay the game ten times pay the same as those who only play it once. Asking for more will get you nowhere because we're in the minority, so Bioware has no reason to cater to us anymore.

At least the patches could use a gamma or even a delta test before the release. But being adaptive the next game from EA will be bought again after about a year. This should ensure that most bugs and problems are gone, combined with a much cheaper price.

Most beta testers would be ruled out if they have sign an actual legal NDA , with notarized documentation like Fallen Earth requires for its moderators or decon. That being said, I think Bioware lacks testing from real players right now. I agree many in the gaming industry including Angry Joe ignored alot of the PC issues that an actual Beta tester would have pointed out.

Edit I also notice that in the early 90's Beta testing was was done very early in a game development so the developers could change or improve things. Now games have a Beta like ESO did where it was so close to production that nothing major could be changed. New world computing back then had Beta testers getting floppies with signed NDA's and providing actual feedback  in what today would be called Alpha testing, When Xeen was released on CD(which was the 1st game on CD i used) we had done many tests as beta testers for them.. i just do not see that being done now.

Try coming home one day to find Deus Ex beta in your mailbox.  Best part was when they released the full game those of us who had gotten into the beta were issued a patch to have the full thing.  I miss those days.

People post as if only the PC version got a raw deal, you are not alone, us console owners have a good amount of problems also that should have easily been picked up on and would have been  if there was proper testing done. Lets not just act as if it's only one platform that is full of bugs when it's all of them. Yes beta testing should have been done by us gamers for sure!

i understand that, Mitchcraft but the issue you haven't seem to have taken in to account is that the game actually works as intended for your console and console owners were not mislead (whether intentionally or inadvertently) over that control system. Nor should console owners issues be missed during a Beta test on the PC. The issues surrounding the tactical camera affect us all. Limited elevation, viability being obscured and movement being blocked by game assets affect us all regardless of platform but would all have been weeded out in a proper Beta test.

Hahaha, it's funny because it's true. Also sad. Should've waited for the price drop AND the badly needed fixes.
