Seeing as Imshael was able to easily create a key to the eluvian network it's probable that demons understand keys.

 

The only issue with that idea is that Imshael is (or was) one of the four strongest demons in the world, so it has far more knowledge than Audacity could ever dream of. Audacity may have been a pretty strong pride demon, but he is defintely not on the level of Gaxkang, Xebenkeck, Imshael, or the Formless One.

 

And then Merrill summons Audacity to get the key, or Audacity goes to Merrill, and we're even closer to a giant demon invasion in Lowtown. 

 

I'm pretty sure there was already a giant demon invasion in Lowtown...

 

Blood mages generally tend to like summoning demons...and they were putting demons into Templars at one point...

 

Solas is capable of realizing "hey don't make deals with demons" spirits = good, demons = bad

 

What?

 

Solas NEVER says "spirits are good, demons are bad!" ever. Anders on the other hand...does think that...hence the whole chantry explosion thing. Obviously spirits are not good...

 

Solas does mention that all fade creatures (since the other terms seem to be confusing) can be considered dangerous, and to always be wary about accepting deals. He also goes on to say that how you perceive the spirit affects how it will appear/interact with you, and again I'll just throw Anders name about there for how well that goes if you perceive spirit = good.

 

In fact, if you take Solas along with you when you fight Imshael he says something along the lines of "It doesn't hurt to listen [to his proposal]" and you gain approvement for listening. 

 

Edit: I also don't recall getting any disapproval from him for agreeing to the deal either since no one gets possessed.

Although, I question the whole Audacity using the eluvian to enter the world thing since Audacity was physically bound to the totem.

 

Either way, that plot line had some consistency problems.

 

He might have been seeing as there one there...  It would have been the icing on the cake

His goal was the well of sorrows. Which is why Samson/Calpernia were being groomed to use it. We'll never truly know what he was going to use the Well for, but that was his intended prize.
