I've not done much crafting but from what ive noticed none of the armour or weapons you make give the extra arms/legs/pommel/hit etc slots.
Is this true for every crafted item?
If not, how can you tell if the schematic adds these slots?

What do you mean by extra slots, theres is a lot of shematics that have sloths like arms/legs so if you mean that by extra slots than there is a ton of them around, if you mean armor that actualy has 2 arms slots for example than no no such thing exists and it wudnt made any sence anyway.
I assume hes asking if crafted armor and weapons have modification slots and why the schematic's dosent say if the item can use modifications.
No schematic show if it has modifications slots or not (unless im mistaken and blind).
Allmost all the craftable weapons have modification slots. For armor the general rule i use is that unique looking armor (like templar armor for example) dosent have modification slots while the more generic armors mostly have them.
Edit: Rewrote this whole post.
Most of them will have 1 or 2 augment slot, however, some schematics (like the Weapon and Armor DLC sold in the deluxe edition) don't... Sadly, I haven't seen a pattern from the schematic warning you that no augment slot are available :/.
