I just wish a romanced cass would refuse the post if your inquisitor asks her to. She makes a point of how she won't let cory take him from her, but then she'll leave for a job? I just don't see a romanced cassandra (or my inquisitor) leaving when there are other things they could do (seekers, inquisition, etc) and not split.

As it stands, I sort of have to metagame to make sure they aren't split. Letting her decline the post would fix that.

Nah, Cassandra is duty driven enough that I can believe it.

I've already conceded that it probably wasn't the best idea or direction to go in, and a lot if you all have swayed me that the way it is done in the game is the better way to go.

If you actually read my original post though, I didn't actually say that the Inquisitor should directly chose the Divine. I said the Chantry should ask the Inquisitor his/her opinion in the matter, and that your answer would be heavily considered in the process, given that the inquisition is rooted in religion whether your Inquisitor is a believer or not, and you are now the most powerful person in Thedas, not to mention the top 3 candidates are members of the Inquisition. So the Inquisitor having a say in the matter is highly likely.

Again, I have come around on the issue. My main gripe was that it was never specified in the game that your story choices would affect the next Divine until late in the game, which isn't a problem on the next play through.

From what I've read about who can become Divine, they are all competent people, so I really don't care who gets the job.

Pretty certain if you don't like your result in the future you will be able to just change it in the keep.

I supported Sera as divine. But got Leliana who shiv everyone she don't like. She was scary. I ordered not to kill chantry sister, she still did, after it I was scared even talk to Leliana.

I do wonder how they'll handle this exactly, surely if all your decisions point to say Leliana as divine, then the keep shouldn't let you swap over to Vivienne without making some further adjustments in the keep.

I'm actually glad you don't get to directly choose. I think this game already gives the pc too much control over the world. I understand you're supposed to be the Herald but that doesn't mean that every important decision in Thedas needs to be approved by you.

Pretty sure the Divine is chosen by the countless dialogue choices regarding the chantry which all seem to have the options of keep the chantry the same, reform, or tear it all down. Story choices don't seem to be dispositive.

It's already been said by a few people, but I supported the mages throughout my entire playthrough at every opportunity.

However, in dialogue with Cassandra, I kept pushing her to change the chantry, kept saying I wanted her to be the Divine, etc. Did the wartable mission to support her. She became Divine in the end.

Not sure how exactly you want this choice to be more obvious or more in your hands, haha. You can 100% influence it, it's not very vague either.

We just need a better understanding of what influences each choice. Once we learn that, I'm sure it'll be as easy as saying I want *whoever* to be divine but spread out over the entire game.

How do you get the option to support Leliana on the war council?  I only have the last quest left, she seems gung ho for the job, she isn't a sociopath which is nice since I've been pushing her to be gentler throughout the game but I really want to cement as much chances as I can that Leliana will become Divine.  Then my Inquisitor can stay with Cass and the mages won't get screwed by Viv.  The darn option won't trigger though.  The only one I have is to support Cass...

Oh and I've done everything except the Hissing Wastes and Dorian's bugged quest.

Honestly if I was able to choose I would have picked Mother Giselle. Regardless of chantry teaching I really liked her, she has a quiet, calming voice and is very reasonable on many things. Vivienne?... I simply thought what the hell.

I would have supported Mother Giselle if I had been given the choice as well.

I guess my problem is, it's very unclear how you heavily influence the choice. I agree that it's not realistic for the Inquisitor to directly chose the next divine. But the choices that actually lead to who is picked seem very ambiguous and unclear.

Furthermore, there is never any indication until very late in the game that your story choices would affect the next Divine. And by then, depending on your choices, it is too late to get the outcome you'd like. That's where I'm coming from, I agree with you all that it should be more about influence than direct choice, I just wish it was more defined.

It seemed pretty clear to me if you simply talk to the candidates and remember their dialogue.  Heck, all three of them tell you exactly where they stand on the ONLY ISSUE OF IMPORTANCE the chantry was dealing with (Mages, circles, and templars) before you chose to recruit either the mages or templars.

Seriously... the chantry fell apart because of the mage AND templar rebellion, the conclave that corphy blew up was to fix this problem, it's literally the biggest crysis facing the chantry in 1000 years, there isn't any other consideration that the electors will use to make up their minds.  and the inquisitor's preference on the issue happens to be the MAIN DECIDING FACTOR in choosing the next devine.

If your inquisitor is all "yay love peace, no more mage circles" why on gods green earth will the electors chose Vivianna other then to oppose the inquisitor.  Since your choices matter, guess what?  you're gonna get lilliana as divine cause she happens to think the exact same way you do on the issue.

Well, I LOVED the way they did it. Guess what? Choices matter. Guess what else? You don't always know what your choices will do. Our actions can have effects beyond what we immediately see. We don't really "choose" the DIvine, but who becomes Divine changes by our choices. It makes it so much deeper and I like the lifelike complexity of it.

Yes yes, your choice now matter is good and what you do will influence the outcome is great. But don't you guys think we should at least known the choice that lead to it? Imagine that your spend like 60+ hours with your best gears and upgrade to find out you screwed because you won't get the outcome of Thedas you prefer. It's not like all of us have all days to play it over and over until we get it, you know...

They should have just made Mother Giselle the divine and call it a day , she is smart , caring and already knows how to handle this kind of crap.

We need more information on what influences the choice to become Divine. Once we have that, we can choose who we want as Divine on future playthroughs.
