Why does this forum only have a general topic area? Clearly you know people are going to want to talk specifics about mages, warriors, and rogues, so why not give us sub forums to do so? This is such a simple requirement for any RPG that I don't even need to say anything else.

No, not really. I feel no need for them.

Forums aren't a requirement for any game in my eyes. They are an additional asset (at times, at other times they are just a cesspool of negativity) but not needed in any way, shape, or form. When I first started gaming there were no forums dedicated to the games - you either had to muddle through with the manual and in game information, or pay money for a tip line. Sometimes you could connect with people on the BBS who had similar gaming interest and chat about it, but there was nothing like we have now-a-days.

Agreed. Typically BioWare don't provide seperate forums based on class, and with the technical problems (double posting in forums, not being able to register game or download DLC) why add to that?

I dont really see the use of it. It's not MMO where balance, class tactics, and freuquent patch and class balancing are a frequent issue needing to be discussed in theyr own forums

ZOMG Why isn't this site set up like worldofwarcraft.com?!?!?!?11/!?/11/1/!?!/1/

If you want to talk about a specific area of a class..........ready for it?...........make a thread about it!

I swear just as many people will see it as they see this useless waste of netspace.

Because it'd be nice to be able to share class builds with other people without having to use the forum search tool every time I want to read a post about my class...

I liked the part where he said he wasn't going to say anything else.

No one will force you to visit the class forums, but it might be nice for the large percentage of players who would like to discuss their class with others...

I wouldn't care if they added class forums, I just don't see the need for them. Min/Maxing takes the fun of experimenting out of games for me :/. But if BioWare decides to add class forums, the more power to the people that want them.

Maybe someone has an extremely unusual character setup that they would like to share? Why is everything about min/maxing and world of warcraft on these forums?

Well, the reason I say min/maxing is because that is all I seem to see in class forums for games. Take Torchlight for example, it has a forum for each base class and each of them is a basic 'What skills are best to take', 'how to maximize dps', etc.

Not saying that everyone would do the min/max thing - but that is my experience with class specific forums.

Then they can post about it. In the general discussion section, most likely.

However, if you wish to discuss specific class builds, you could always join the group dedicated to that class, no?

The groups function partially removes the need for endless subforums - Mage fans join the "Mage fans" group, and so on.

Here's an unusual build. Warrior maxed out on magic points. That's it, just magic.

And no one will ever see it, because it will buried under everyone else contending for thread space on the general forum...

I tend to agree that class forums wouldn't be such a bad idea. At best, they allow people to quickly find topics relating to their own class. At worst, it's just another forum that can be easily ignored by those who don't want to read about the problems/dilemmas/specs/whatnot regarding a particular class.

maybe the class forums language should be L33t, it seems appropriate for forums of that kind and its players.

I think it's a good idea, or perhaps something along the lines of a forum dedicated too gameplay mechanics, Just cleans up the amount of posts in general,

Plus sometimes its interesting to hear about how people have played around with their characters, achieving something which may not of been obvious to someone the first time round.

Bioware has said they don't want to fragment the community. I agree that a separate forum for mechanics would be nice, though. It may be too much for the small mod force to handle - there's a fine line between general DA:O discussion and mechanics talk.

But if you really want dedicated message boards, just start a group right here on the social site - anyone can do it, and even moderate their own discussions.

As has been stated, this is not a MMO. This isn't a game where you'll be investing heavily in one character, as most people will no doubt play all sorts. Add to this the fact that this game involves parties of mixed-class npcs you are going to need to know about ALL classes.

You need specific forums in MMOs to discuss the flavour of the month, what builds guilds are enforcing on players to be allowed to raid, and how the latest re-balancing has gimped your class and that the developers owe you money now. Since BioWare is unlikely to be rebalancing the game like MMO devs do (as in, every two weeks), these specialist forums will just run out of things to say and die.

So how many posts would such a forum have? 4? At best, I think a forum for "classes" would be enough. One for each class just seems like a huge waste for me.
