I'm trying to limit what I read about this game to avoid spoilers and let the story unfold, but I do want to encounter all possible companions as early as possible (not for roleplay reasons, but just to help with my equipment management).

 

Could someone give me a few non-spoilery tips on how to acquire all the companions?

 

So far I have Sera, Vivienne, and Blackwall - I received an invitation to meet Iron Bull on the Storm Coast so that's my next mission (and obviously I have Cassandra, Solas, and Varric), but there are at least 2-3 more.

You will find the missing two shortly after you either sided with the templar or mages.

 

If you side with the Mages you will meet Dorian first and Cole a little bit later

If you side with the Templars Cole will help you first and then Dorian
