Will Bioware officially answer why the game differs so much from their promises AND the demo?

We deserve an answer why in the demo and during their annoucements we were led to believe the forts captured would be used to fight battles, build up,  as in the save crestwood village or the fort, and selecting what forts would be used for.  That our decisions would have long term consequences when absolutely nothing you do in the game changes anything and the end of the game only 3 slides. (you can skip as many zones as possible because they don't change anything in the main story at all).

So why did they release a game so different then how they hyped it up to be?

Yeah, the game is nothing like advertised but that's pretty much par for the Bioware course.

How was the demo different? The only demo I heard of was the timed trial one that Xbox had, and the only demo that I saw was the one they showed off at one of the game conferences. I don't remember that one seeming any different from what I've been playing.

In the demo, the bandit fort you take over in Crestwood you have to fortify,  then comes a point where the enemy attacks the city and the fort and there is a save the town or save the fort mission.

The LEAKED PAX-footage was not for the public. Bioware never published that.

This is the main reason why they won't show us anything from the next Mass Effect game. Everything is subject to change in game development.

Wasn't that pre-alpha footage? And labelled as such?

Oh I would not bash them that hard, marketing folks often get out of touch with reality- its a process problem going back to politics stripping "truth in advertising".  I'm just glad they pulled the "critics agree" advertisement on origin.  I was hip deep in bug reports and duplicating them and I had looked over the stats, so when that first popped up - had to grit my teeth and almost blew a gasket!  Thanks who ever pressured them to drop that, might have saved a life!

Priority 2 – Features and content

As massive as Dragon Age: Inquisition already is, there were some things the team wanted to get in at launch, but we just ran out of time. We’ll be creating these new features and content and adding them into your game over time because we love our DAI players. Multiplayer will also be receiving regular content updates.

I believe they answered it in the patch thread in the news section. I'm sure they said they simply ran out of time and would look to introduce stuff in DLC. DLC you'll obviously have to pay for but that's another argument for another thread.

They also showed how to take out a pride demon (Hard), but cut that off the save on air time.

Why hard I thought, I usually start on medium and it was tough, now on hard its so much easier except for a few bos creatures -odd!

Name one game that doesn't have content cut during development.

Spoiler alert: there is none

I don't really mind that these things changed, but why couldn't they have at least acknowledged that the whole fort thing is not in the game. Nor the Crestwood stuff from the pre alpha. Nor the really nicely done cutscene that obviously took a lot of work. Again, I get that stuff changes, but why was there no mention at all about this? Yes, I understand it's alpha and stuff, but it's footage that THEY SHOWED. If they are going to have footage shown in any capacity, if what's shown is removed from the game and people ask about it, it would be nice to get an "Oh yeah, we took that out due to story changes or time constraints."

There are cuts because they don't work as a game mechanic (or cause cascading issues) and there's cuts because you ran out of time to finish the project because you slapped a release date on yourself. The latter is becoming the scourge of modern Publishers. Thankfully the future of PC gaming is Crowd funding (I'm looking at you Star Citizen).

Then thay have an obligation to say so when they do show us something.

ME1 had a misleading demo too, and trailers that promised stuff we didn't get. Check out "Distress Call" sometime. (I remember some hysterical idiots stumbling across that, thinking it was cut ME3 content, and loudly proclaiming how far ME3 had fallen from Bio's promises.)

They didn't show it to the public.

Half of the trailers for Mass Effect were made up and not representative of the game. The galaxy map in the E3-trailer was never a thing and the destructible environment never made it in the game.

I just started having some character appearance issues late last night, long after folks commented on it.  Changes to some modeling and textures should be instant - why did it take so long to appear?  It almost looks like how fable aged the character from a hair perspective, but the fine detail certainly seems higher.

Speaking of destructible.  I've only came across it for wall smashing... but it's there.. sort of..

In any case, even in a closed room demo, it is their obligation to make clear... "..This is what the game can do and is NOT representative of the production content of the game.."... simple statement and clear...

Basically. They rushed the game out the door and that's exactly what it feels like. I'm surprised they even admitted as much. It's a shame, it could've been so much better. The Witcher 3 is continually delayed but is likely to be all the better for it.
