Fetch quest has nothing to do with getting atatched to the characters since Cassandra has more companion convos herself then all the dA2 companions combined.

Well for me it was just too much stuff between conversations. The overarching story narrative and the characters' individual narratives didn't string together properly for me because after talking to Cass the first time I probably then went and spent 5 hours on some map hunting for halla and planting flags

Anyway, Cass is a good example of a character done very well in this game; I initially loved Vivienne but I think I had all of three short non-cinematic conversations with her, then her personal quest is a fetch quest + a 30 second cut scene lol

In my first playthrough? Cullen, Cassandra and Vivienne, surprisingly. Our views just matched and they were the three I was closest with (excluding my LI Josie of course) by the end of the game.

Female Inquisitor, so my bromance was with Cassandra. Just two badass ladies.

Iron Bull, without a doubt.  Some of his conversations were priceless.

Personally, I'd have a bromance with the only person the game let me have a bromance (or lesbromance) with: Sera. Out of everyone, she's the only character who gets unique interactions if you befriend her. I wish they'd included this for everyone. If we can sit on the roof with Sera, why can't we play chess with Dorian? Spar with Iron Bull or Cassandra? I'd love to see more friendship interactions in future Bioware games, even at the expense of romance.

I agree. It didn't affect my feeling close to them or not, but I liked having that abilty to spend time idly.

For me it was Cullen, Dorian and Cassandra, but the Cassandra friendship became a romance later on. I think I must have missed some conversations, though. They seemed to just stop after the personal quest, although less so with Cullen and Cassandra.

My inquisitor kept his distance from Solas, probably because I was getting a 'burn the Chantry' vibe from him. Something seemed off, I just didn't know what it was.

I was BFFs (I detest the term bromance) with Sera, Dorian and Cassandra. I'd count Viv, but every time she started talking about the Circle and Chantry I wanted to hit her.

Cullen was my bro, we were both Templars and warriors. He's really come along since DA:O!

Dorian and Cassandra! I loved both flattering Dorian with his fabulousness and making sarcastic remarks about it.

And Cassandra, she just was a great friend and had my back even though we disagreed at times.

I wish Dorian would redo the library.

I became friend with all my companions, but out of all of them, I think that Cassandra, Solas and Sera were the ones my Inquisitor was closest too. Cole was a narrow contender, but I think he came across as more of a little brother that Varric and my Inq looked out for.

Iron Bull and Varric were definitely bros, but I think that while I always listened to them and took their advice, my Inquisitor sometimes felt like a third wheel and out of place due to their already having groups of their friends of their own. Bull has the Chargers with whom he had a long history with, while Varric obviously has the gang from back home in Kirkwall. As Sera notes in her banter with Varric, it makes us feel like we're the lesser cooler group of friends he's stuck with until he can go back to his old gang.

As for Blackwall and Dorian, both are awesome blokes and fun to be around, but the former is a loner and the latter is a tad aloof at times, so it's a tad difficult to see them fall in with the group dynamic at times, which shows in some of their banter.

As for Viv, she's a massive Ice-queen and aside from being a powerful mage, is there anyone who actually gets along with her? Her companion quest was heartbreaking, but it doesn't make up for all the snide and snooty remaks she throws at everyone else. I was expecting for her to be like Morrigan and Miranda and defrost over the course of the game... but that moment never seemed to arrive?

Cassandra gets along with her.

I forgot about Cass. Yeah, Vivienne and Cassandra seem to have best relationship compared to her relationship with the others, save for Bull who's just plain intimidated by her because she reminds him of the tamassarans.

I kinda find it cute that Bull is so intimated by her.

Dorian and Cadash were complete besties, almost from "Hello." I loved how it seemed as if it was you and Dorian against the world. Eventually, she befriended everyone in the party, but she was probably closest to Dorian, Blackwell, and Varric.

These are my besties, maybe halfway through the the game.

Cassandra: Jailor turned role model turned sister-in-arms. I loved her from the word go, and her trust and friendship felt incredibly satisfying to earn.

Solas: He's not what I'd call a buddy, and getting to the point of friendship was not easy, but he is a friend as well as fascinating and insightful. Also, you gotta admit it was damn brave to march into the post-Conclave chaos to offer help as he did. Bonus points for being Cole mentor #1.

Varric: He keeps us sane with his down-to-earth attitude and his humor. I was really worried about him and Cassandra after their fight, but there seems to be a truce. Especially after that book. You know the one. "Totally worth it", indeed. Bonus points for being Cole mentor #2.

Cole: First I felt indebted for the help against Envy, despite being a little weirded out. Then his guileless kindness won me over. Sorry Cass, on this I disagree with you -- Cole is my little spirit buddy and he is here to stay.

I just have friends. Try it sometime, it’s liberating to not hide behind the softly mocking I-was-just-joking façade of ‘bro mances’!

Varrics pretty cool but I'm sure nearly ever guy who plays the game will go head of heels for iron bull.

Varric, Dorian, Bull, Solas, and Cass - while Cole is everyone's little bro. Blackwall was my LI, so that's romance territory, not bromance territory. Hmm, had I not romanced him, he'd probably be a bro - heh.

Dorian - I liked how he flirts with the female Inquisitor without it going anywhere (like Vega and femShep)

Cass - I was really surprised by how awesome she turned out.

Solas - Since he's elves only, my Human Inquisitor and he are best buds.
