This game on a lot of levels reminds me of assassins creed. Though the last AC game I played, the plot didn't pull me in enough to finish.
I like the story here ind DAI. But the game play could have capitalized on that by adding some strategy elements.
The reason I mentioned AC is that game teased us with strategy integrated into an action adventure game. The little bit they did do was functional mechanically but failed in that wasn't supportive enough of the main story.
This game feels like you could go that way to me.
Could you imagine if we could do missions to open trade routes, so we can have crafting and weapon, armor supplies shipped in from the various regions. I think an economic strategy mini game as such would be sweet.
Take a step further and utilize the war room like an actual war room. Move troops into strategic locations, say if you flank a quest position, you get a battle bonus like a focus or guard, could even depend on the troop types flanking.
I feel like adding this level to game play would satisfy my desire to use actual strategy.
I think a lot of the complaints regarding the tactics camera are missing the point of this game. This is not Neverwinter Nights or DAO. To me this is a completely different game based on the same realm. I find the tactics to be extremely unnecessary, except for maybe one or two fade rift battles early on. I haven't needed it or wanted to use it.
Yet I do miss the pause stop pause gameplay of the old games. I seem to recall when NWN first came out it was considered a real time strategy game, and quickly became one of the all time most genre defining RPG's out there.
