Greetings, attactive forum users!

I am currently considering a purchase of Dragon Age Inqusition, and I already got many of your opinions of how "good" the game is. Thank you for that.

But there is a seprate issue that only purchasers can explain, as many of you might remember the backlashes to DA2 and ME3 were partially defined to the sheer hostility the game developers/ moderators treated their fans when they got a less than positive feedback.

So, do you feel like your opinions are being heard in a respectiful and professional matter? Do they simply write all forums concerns to the infamous "we're listening" and do the opposite?

This is extremely important to me when deciding for a purchase because I do not buy games that treat their customers bad (as bioware has in the past).

Thank you for your time!

They seem to be trying, but not quite up to the task.

The producer (Mark Darrah?) definitely isn't. Too much denial and not enough discovery (for ex: on Twitter about the banter bugs), and when he was finally shouted down by players, all we got was "oh, there's an edge case." Probably something like: "if you quicksave immediately after a combat encounter, banter gets broken forever" or something similarly super rare that would never happen during normal play, because who still quicksaves in 2014?

I'm being derisive, but only because he's been derisive.

Anyway, let's be honest, though. You'll buy it. You'll play it. You'll like it. It's good despite itself. You'll complain because it could have been great, but at least it's still good, and you know you're going to get it.

Dunno, very unlikely after what you just told me.

Well buying the game doesn't give you special access to everything so....

What are you playing this on? PS4 and xbone users probably have it best, the game got patched yesterday. However, pc users still have complaints. The game deserves to be purchased at full prIce. It just offers so much. There are various big maps to visit. Lots of adventuring. Discovering. Crafting. Dragon battles. Great cinematics. A variation of fleshed out companions. Worth buying. I'm 80 hours in and I'm maybe halfway done.

Part of me thinks that a big reason why fans went on a crusade after ME3 was not solely because they hated the ending, it was partly because they felt like they had lost Bioware.

Thankfully, that will not happen.

To add to OP's post, you are basically asking if you will be pandered to, personally. The answer is no.

Mark Darrah's job isn't to fix bugs. We've had a lot of dialogue from other developers both here and on Reddit about the party banter issue and we know BioWare are working on a fix.

But this Reddit thread will give you more context about BioWare's recent interactions with the fanbase: www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/why_has_communication_policy_changed Bryan Johnson is a QA guy at BioWare, read his comments on the thread - bear in mind that he regularly interacts with the community, providing helpful info about the game.

Edit: fixed broken link.

They're trying their best, and that's all you can ask from developers. No one is perfect

Remember that Massive FPS issue with SKYRIM for the PS3 back in 2011? The Bethesda people never got to fix that for AN ENTIRE YEAR. They had a workaround, but i still remember the disappointment my friend had over that issue (and those things he said about bethesda screwing the PS3)

Had to buy him a PC version for Christmas just to calm him down..

So yeah, people seem to have forgotten that SKYRIM, the so-called greatest RPG of all time, was plagued by bugs as well during the start (and took a whole LOT of time before fixing the issues)

I thought Skyrim on the PS3 was pretty much broken forever?

My buddy stopped touching the PS3 version after i got him a PC version. I assumed it was resolved a year after because his little sister started playing Skyrim on the PS3, but even she didn't last long.. she mentioned it was a bug fest (no mention about FPS though, so i assumed it got resolved?)

If its still broken, then kuddos to the skyrim fanbase, you don't hear them complaining about it today...

They ignore the forums and instead focus on twitter.  That should tell you everything you need to know about the new Bioware.

As a guy with two look-at-me posts on the front page here, I imagine you need more attention from the devs than most in order to feel treated right.

They use modern social networking to reach a substantially greater portion of their fanbase rather than force them to come to their corporate forum?

I think the dev team is doing an amazing job of trying to tackle the major issues in the order that they should be resolved.  I have nothing but good things to say!  Dragon Age Inquisition is the best game to come out in a long time.  BUY ITTTTTTT!!!!!

Just asking questions and I felt a different topic was neccesariy because this is a different issue to the 'quality' of the game.

As a consumer (which includes you), I have a right to demand attention as much as I deem (or believe) Neccesariy. Issues such as my own, or others, "entitlment" is a developer issue to handle. Part of the whole capitalistic process that is so popular in western countries :P

Most of the time somebody on a gaming forum talks about developer's "listening to their customers" they really mean "catering to me personally".

If that's what you want then no you wont get that here. Virtually no developer will give you that.

They are working on fixing issues that have been brought up though and just released a patch. They've mentioned working on improved PC controls for the next one.

I didn't say you didn't have the right. Just pointing out what it says about you. Do with that information what you like.

Can't complain.

I appreciate the work they continue to do on the game.

I won't say the game is perfect, but I've enjoyed my time with it for the most part.

Well thats the issue isn't it, has bioware gone out of its way (to a reasonable extent) to please as many customers as possible with fair pricing (standard in aus) and PR (bad history).

Yes a consumer can appear as if hes asking to be "catered to personally" but he can't actually speak for anyone else. So its not exactly an issue that can be solved, without integrating all consumers in to a borg like collective.

Great to hear about the pc inprovements.

Only speaking for yourself is one thing, expecting to actually be catered to personally is another =P

All BioWare can really do is fix the major issues that they can with patches(obviously core mechanic overhauls wont happen). Trying to please as many people as possible can lead to just making nobody happy.

Hostility?

I remember plenty of hostility, but it was all from fans.
